Biography: To start with the Biography we have to start with the roots, Tae Lanns birth took place on Mirial where the cold deserts and closed off culture of the Mirialans rarely spoke with or ventured out to the rest of the galaxy, however there was one exception, the Jedi Order. Mirialans are a race who believe in the force as they are more open to it, having taught it in their culture for many centuries. Ketsu Lann was a Jedi, father of Tae Lann who was born not long after his father’s death, his mother who had carried Ketsu’s child not only felt the death but mourned it while the young Tae Lann was still in his infancy. Three years of learning to walk and talk were the first stepping stones into the little boy who was to learn of his father, he had always questioned it deep inside but a child’s mind lacks the cognition required to peace it together. Tae Lannn as a child was a keen to learning, for a good solid year Tae Lann learned to speak his language very well and got top marks at his learning facilities but, steadily he heard whispers of not words, but feelings. Tae Lann told his mother that he could hear feelings and his mother grew suspicious that he was like his father but, neglecting that fact as she didn’t want to lose someone else in her life she went against explaining it to Tae.
A year after he started to get these whispering feelings, at the age of five he started feeling a presence; strong in its feeling that beckoned him, he went up into his homes most unused room and pulled from underneath an old cupboard a metal box with a lock on it, after may tries with different objects he broke open the box, inside, his father’s lightsaber and with it the call to the force. Tae Lann took the lightsaber and after a few days of trying to understand it asked his mother and showed it to her, she was shocked to say the least but could no longer deny, the boy was force sensitive like his father and would need to be trained; a necessity of the Mirialan culture. He didn’t know why his mother was crying but he didn’t need to ask either, he somehow knew he had to leave…it was a feeling, as if an itch in his mind. He spent those next few weeks with his mother, spending all the time he could learning of his father and how his father contributed to the Jedi Order, the lightsaber he would take his mother had told him “Return it to me, When you have followed in your father’s footsteps and created your own”. It was settled, He would train to be a Jedi and make his family proud, His mother kissed his cheek on the day of his leaving, something that he will always remember the feeling of, a constant reminder to be good and do good.
After arrival to the Jedi Order he was judged as a five year old and given lee way to study and learn the ways of the jedi, specifically however Tae Lann excelled in feeling and using the force, while he was just as sensitive as others he had a deeper understanding for it due to his teachings and race. The other students were hesitant of him at first as not many people see Mirialans these days being as they are a mostly closed off culture and community but in time, with his first conversation with someone else he learned something very special and how to make people accept him. “Why are you green? Are you a vegetable” was the question that started it all, he thought, in that moment Tae Lann came to the conclusion of saying “Because my race has always eaten its vegetables.” A childish joke but…It made the person accept him, more and more he learnt to talk to his peers and somewhat manipulate them lightly as a way of attaining not only friends but means to learn further, practicing with peers and studying with others and by himself became his pass time. Life was enjoyable as he learnt the ways of a jedi, adopting them as if the jedi order was in a way, his very own father.
He was good at force sensing, Lightsaber style was easy at first but as the Shii-cho style was becoming more and more taught, he found himself having more and more trouble learning it. One particular peer, a human named Dukean excelled at saber use just as Tae Lann excelled at force control, life in training got all the more harder as every time he tried to ask this Dukean for help, he got turned down for no reason. His powers of persuasion and empathy without the help of the force were failing him and it angered him, annoyed him to a great degree but, he studied the books as much as he could. The cooks did little for him, putting things into actual practice was hard and it took many months for him to even get the basis of the Shii Cho form down but at long last, the human Dukean needed something, something that Tae Lann could help him with, He desired power couplings for the land vehicle he was building but, could not purchase it being as Jedi do not believe in posessions and as such find little time to procure money so, Tae Lann made two deals, equivalent exchange, Tae Lann would get him the couplings if Dukean would help him train to which an agreement was made, the second deal was with the market owner, that Tae Lann would help his daughter in her predicament with bullies in exchange.
Tae Lann’s first conflict was a hard one to face but, it was a major point in his life because it taught him that when negotiations fail, one can only rely on oneself, Tae Lann was hurt, wounded even with bruising here and there due to his small form and yet, due to the actions he was taking he found himself…with what he could now understand is justice, it was at that time that Dukean found and dispatched of the bullies, they wouldn’t touch the girl again and an unlikely friendship between Dukean and Tae Lann would blossom. They trained, Dukean helped teach Tae Lann of Saber style Shii Cho and Tae Lann would teach Dukean more of the force and in doing so both would learn more about themselves and what they teach, plus the power couplings that were promised was a nice bonus prize for Dukean. Years passed and more and more training took place but at the time that Tae Lann hit nine years old he started learning force powers, Dukean opted to learn on his own which was fine by Tae Lann but he was somewhat saddened by the fact that they would distance as friends. He learnt from Jedi Holocrons and jedi knights classes, Particularly he was taken by the consular training of negotiation and basic force control. He learned to increase his speed, jump higher and move faster, push strongly and pull towards but most of all, he learnt even further how to manipulate conversations with persuasion and empathy through the force… it wasn’t long however before Tae Lann learnt of something extremely saddening.
Dukean had died during his training due to what was told was an ‘accident’ but he knew otherwise as the force had tremors of deceit. He knew through his Empathy what he was told was not the whole truth, something that went against his ideal of justice, Tae Lann was angry, he’d never felt this close to darkness, confliction within him raged out as he assaulted his peers and angered his mentors, he was on the verge of being excommunicated from the Jedi Order and sent home, gladly he would accept that fate if it meant there was no justice but, in his moments of silence he could feel he was forgetting something important but after meditations on it, the kiss of his mother on his cheek reminded him; that one doesn’t necessarily receive good, but by doing good others can definitely receive good. It was likely, that the reason for Dukean’s death was something that was more grieving than anything and so he decided to remember Dukean and recite the Jedi Code, the first time he could ever give the Jedi Code its true meaning.” There is no emotion, there is Peace – There is no ignorance, there is knowledge – There is no passion, here is serenity – there is no chaos, there is harmony – There is no death, there is the force.” His eyes lit up in their emerald glow, a smile on his face as he embraced even more, the life of a Jedi. He then excelled in his studies for the sake of himself, his father, his mother and his friend, determined to be a keeper of the peace, one who gives hope and faith to those who need it. Now we arrive at the present, soon to train under a Jedi mentor as an apprentice, He was now a Padawan at the age of thirteen and an embodiment of all of his accumulated ideals.
Roleplay Sample: Time is of no relevance when one seeks the answer to questions that they don’t know to ask yet which in turn makes the thoughts of Tae Lann lean towards what he finds unknown; meditating on the force and its guidance is how he got this far, his emerald green eyes remained closed and his breathe remains steady, controlled. The clothes he wore were a Sash Mirialan robe, forming a ‘v’ pattern over his chest with a soft green cloth, shoulder patches of white leading in stripes down his pressed sleeves, white and green filling the reserve patches of clothing beneath the ‘v’ pattern and around his waist, tied with a sash and blessed with a holster for his father’s lightsaber. The hood of his upper dressing leaned over his short inch hair of chestnut; braided on the right side to lean over his shoulder.
The leggings he wore were of a darker near dusk grey leading down to his tied metal framed boots that covered his ankles and the majority of his calves which, bent inwards with his legs crossed made it harder to view. His right hand made a fist and was held in his left palm, held lightly between his legs, meditating in a room with only a stone bed; blankets and a pillow as well as a cupboard against the wall to contain the basis of belongings required for any aspiring Jedi, a window above it giving a large view of Coruscant and the many speeders that pass in front of his window. Tae Lann’s eyes opened when he felt an answer to a question he had not asked, he was to train with a jedi knight soon, maybe within a couple weeks but it was going to happen, lightly he extended his legs and stood up, staring at the door for a moment.
All be it like second sense there was a knock at the door and much like putting on a pair of sunglasses he put on a smile that seemed fake at first but held remnants of pleasing thoughts. Making his way to the door he opened it and looked to the guest with a warm and inviting smile, lifting his brows and curving his lips.
“It’s about time you answered Tae Lann.” Said the figure infront of him, a Kel Dor boy around the same age as Tae Lann had said, Tep Prag was his name if Tae Lann remembered correctly, someone who studied when and how to defend against blasters, a study of Soresu, Tae Lann replied with a slow awkward response “Well…I don’t know of this ‘Time you answered’ but what’s the matter with him?”. There was silence in that moment as Tep Prag merely stared at Tae Lann who maintained his awkward smile during which, the Kel Dor without word turned and began walking off. “WAIT WAIT I WAS KIDDING” Tae Lann said in a forced assurance as he hurried out of the room, shutting the door behind him.
He followed close behind Tep Prag and walked in a careful smooth manner, gesturing by putting a hand behind his head to lightly brush, “So what is the problem Tep?” Tae Lann said with an almost genuine concern to which the reply as they walked down the stone hallway with Triangular metal doors towards the end which seemed to be an open walkway, light emanating in through it. “There is a problem with outside with an animal, we figured since you are a good talker you might calm it down enough while we wait for a Jedi Teacher.” Tae Lann’s eyes lit up with surprise while stepping quicker and in front of Tep Prag to stop him, which it did to point “Wait a moment Tep Prag, I am not what you would call a beast-tongue, I can’t just ‘Negotiate’ with an animal.”
Tep Prag sighed and crossed his arms, looking directly into Tae Lann’s face, seeing the truth of his words but still “You are better with others and there’s not time like the present to try it with animals? Why are you so against trying?.” It was hard to read the facial of expressions of a Kel Dor but what made it even worse was Tep Prag had a point, all the more reason why the newly formed expression of annoyance and contempt on Tae Lann’s face was apparent, not only because Tep was right but because Tep was playing at Tae’s weakness, the need to experience new things and learn so, un-begrudgingly and with a roll of his eyes he replied “Very well then, Show me the way.”
Tep Prag continued walking while Tae Lann was mindful of his thoughts, following out into the outside and down the ramp, eventually Tep Prag came to a grassy field overlooking the docking pad with a view of the city all around, Vents every few meters apart forming a big square around the field, a few younglings and padawans gathered around a specific vent, Tae Lann came over and leaned to the vent. “Ok so does anyne know what kind of creature it is?” Most of the responses were a shaking of the head in declination of the remark “No”, though Tae Lann wasn’t sure why he was vonlunteered to help this creature.
Tae leaned over, two little beady red eyes stared at him, frog like arms were all that were visible aside the eyes and more over it was small, lengthened in its arms however which meant it was a climber, explaining how it got up here in the first place. Tae Lann closed his eyes, Feeling and listening… it was afraid? Not just of the people but… of something else, something… Ah… It was afraid of death, Tae Lann could sympathize as it was a feeling he had felt many times. “He will be fine in there, he believes it safe, Give him some food with plenty of water in it and douse him with water, he’s hungry and drying out, A Teacher will help at some point.” Most of the younglings were amazed that Tae Lann could feel all that, Tep Prag merely nodded, giving the clear for Tae Lann to travel back to his room to meditate on the force, the rest of the day was rather uneventful.
