Species Name: Saurial.
Species Type: Sauroid.
Planet of Origin: Earth.
Average Maximum age: 50 years.
Age of Maturation: 5 years physically, 20 years mentally.
Average Height: Each of the different types of Saurials' heights (on two legs) only nearly reaches the shoulders of its dinosaur counterpart (on four legs).
Average Weight: Divide a dinosaurs weight by its length/height, then multiply that times your Saurials height for a number to work with.
Notable biological features: Saurials are intelligent bipedal dinosaurs that are much smaller than their quadrupedal ancestors. There are different species of Saurial, each corresponding to a different (but not every) species of dinosaur (for example, i plan to create a Triceratops Saurial), but they all have in common sharp claws, tails, and colorful scales, aside from tailless flying ones.
Number of limbs and Type: Bipedal; 2 posterior limbs (which are sometimes wings), 2 anterior limbs, 1 tail.
Culture: Saurials had a primeval first few generations, but it didnt take them long to establish higher civilizations and galactic relations, being that their home planet was due to be destroyed not long after Saurial genesis. To this day, as with any of the civilizations throughout the galaxy, some Saurials are religious, some are skeptical; some are simple and primal, some are technologically-adept geniuses; some strive for good, others strive for gain, and others for pleasure - but all Saurials have a bit of a closer link with nature than species such as humans, who always foolishly think of themselves "separate" from nature. Saurials speak their own language, which, like the Wookie language, just consists of growls, grunts, and roars that differ from race to race. Because of this, some Saurials use vocal synthesizers to transmit the Basic language when socializing throughout the Universe, though some people can understand and translate the Saurial tongue. Saurials have no homeworld, fleeing Earth (or staying and dying) and not choosing to return to a planet so susceptible to meteor strikes. What remains of their culture lies in the stories of each Saurial you pass by, as the only home they truly have nowadays is within the functionings of regular society.
History: Saurials are a select few races of biologically-manipulated dinosaurs that were raptured from Late Cretaceous Earth before a meteor caused a cataclysm that wiped out much of Earths population. At the time, a pair of technologically-advanced aliens scryed the near galaxies for sentient minds onto which to imprint sapience and a higher consciousness. Stumbling across Earth and observing the grace and splendor of the magnificent dinosaurs of that time, and having access to the data that a meteor would hit Earth in a short time, the two aliens picked a few male-female pairs of several different dinosaur species and began their experiment. They imprinted intelligence unto the beasts, reduced their monstrous sizes to more "large human" proportions, and rendered them all bipedal, converting their forelimbs into arms - all to give the dinosaurs a great leap in their evolutionary timeline and possibly allow them to avoid extinction from the impending meteor. The aliens then descended to the planet and left their ship to speak with the Saurials and died when the atmosphere suffocated them.
Left with a positively massive ship filled with databanks, holotapes, and even books, the Saurials (given years) found out how to make their presence known in the Universe and signal to space. They learned and developed language, trade routes, technology, philosophy, even religion and magic, and many through the generations went off-planet in
search of their own destiny, or to leave before the meteor struck, which became common knowledge upon the Saurials. To this day there are relatively few Saurials compared to other alien populations, even though only a very small number of them chose to stay on Earth in disbelief of the meteor info, to die with the planet, or to somehow retreat underground and rebuild Saurialkind afterward, even though the environment would be extra harsh in the years following the meteor impact. Most of them left the planet and integrated themselves into galactic society, where you can spot one of them every now and again today.
