His blue furred body is of a muscular and athletic build, earned from a lifestyle of a warrior in training, gladiatorial slave, then as a bounty hunter. Dark blue tattoos, marked his upper shoulders, arms and chest, symbolizing his tribal heritage. Also he has black tipped claws on both hands and feet. The Hunter's height is slightly inches lower than the average Nelvaanian male. Out on the field, he wears mid-size durasteel shoulder pads, chest armor, knee caps. As for footwear, he goes either for wrappings or combat boots. In private, Vilkas wears only his tribal clothes, a colorful loincloth and cloak draped over the right shoulder. Personality Profile A survivor is an accurate description of Vilkas. The Nelvaanian is a hunter and warrior who hails from an ancient society. Once raised in tradition and a primitive setting, Vilkas has been uprooted from it and thrust into the greater galaxy. This has challenged everything he believes in. His time as a slave and gladiator has taught him the true meaning of survival and being cautious with the people around him. He tries to hold onto the spiritual beliefs of his species and the core essence of their ways as a source of comfort and balance to himself. Also Vlikas doesn't tend to accept gifts or rewards unless he believes that he truly earned them. The universe frustrates and intrigues him. On one hand, he loves seeing new sights of nature, learning about cultures, especially warriors, and has a deep appreciation for wildlife. On the other, the former tribesman has little use for wealth and power that many others tend to go after. He does not trust easily but for those can convince him, they will gain a strong and faithful ally by their side. He tries to appreciate the simple things in life he has left and deep down doesn't want to live as a loner. Due to the changes he has gone through, Vilkas has kept himself exiled from his home-world, believing he can no longer be a part of it. Even with his flaws and struggles this is a man who will do anything to search and fight to belong to something worthy. He learned to serve his tribe and family faithfully and did so. Yet it sometimes felt like to him that he was overlooked by the tribe who centered their focus on those were better warriors than him. Still he had his family who he cared about and them likewise. His mother, Hajna, a leading member of the community, she personally taught him their way of life and the Great Mother spirit they worshipped, but cherished what they have as well. From his father, Farkas, he was guided in the ways of a hunter/tracker, such as observation, also utilizing their enhanced senses of smell and hearing. Yet still he felt somewhat lesser, compared to other Nelvaanian youths, it would hound him for years. When time came for his rite of passage, the shaman of the tribe had a troubling vision of a storm that foretold an unknown danger and so advised young Vilkas to wait until they discovered its source. Vilkas, no longer patient, convinced the tribal leaders to let him do the rite of passage anyway. The goal was to steal the scale of a huge beast, called the horax. Seeing this as his best chance to finally gain better recognition, Vilkas pulled all his effort into this test. First Vilkas planned out a strategy, before grabbing the attention of one hungry horax by throwing rocks at it. He ran, letting the massive creature pursue him back into the canyon. There Vilkas angered the beast, driving it to rush at the Nelvaanian at the edge of the cliff. He dodged out of way, while the horax fell to its death. Vilkas accompanied by fellow tribesmen to retrieve the scales. As he done so and celebrated his moment of triumph they were ambushed by alien slavers. In the ensuing chaos Vilkas was captured and several members of the tribe were killed, trying to save him. Grief-stricken and humiliated, Vlikas was taken off-world by the kidnappers. Very soon he was sold off in the Hutt Space to a human entrepreneur named Ian Herksen. For the next three years, he served his human master who made him his personal hunter and was trained to be a gladiator as well. In order to make full use of this new slave, Herksen had Vilkas be tutored, by one of the bodyguards, an Kaleesh exile named Rael jai Kunok. It was a harsh training regiment for the captive Nalvaanian to be taught extensively the use of melee and ranged weapons such as blaster rifles and blades. The fiercest tests involved, sparring in close quarters combat. Despite hardship and setbacks, in time he not only endured it but thrived as well, eventually earning his instructor's respect. Vilkas hated being a slave yet the thrill of traveling to different worlds, hunting exotic creatures and getting good fights appealed to him. During one hunting trip, a group of bandits ambushed Herksen and his small group. Vilkas could've chosen to escape but instead he elected to stay and aided Herksen and his few bodyguards. In the aftermath of the bandits' defeat, Vilkas gained his master's gratitude. Indebted by the Nelvaanian's actions, Herksen promised to grant Vilkas' wish to be free but only on the condition he takes part in the gladiatorial tournament on Nar Shaddaa. The reason for this was because Herksen wanted to earn money by betting on Vilkas in compensation for the loss of a highly valued slave. Spending several weeks in the fight pits of Nar Shaddaa, Vilkas finally earned his freedom, after achieving a stunning victory over a local champion. Keeping his promise, Herksen finally let Vilkas go and even gave the Nelvaanian, a ship, an X3 class vessel as a farewell gift along with some supplies. After leaving behind his former life of servitude, Vilkas was initially confused about what he wanted to do at that point. Soon however, he decided to try his hand as a bounty hunter. It wasn't so much for the credits as it was for the thrill that hunting brings to him. Many years since then he has worked in that profession with a string of few successes and failures and still thoroughly enjoys it. Yet Vilkas feels like there is something missing in his life. A cause to truly fight for, a cause with a greater purpose than his own survival. So the Nelvaanian hunter searches for it as he continues in his line of work. |
