Alright, tepigturtwig and Jounin, put your gamefaces on. Tepig, you're up first. Five rounds. War has ravaged an ancient city on some faraway world. The air is thick with poison from horrible weapons as two opposing souls, desperate to survive cross paths...

Jerek was tempted to sit still and take a few deep breaths, but he knew it would not be enough to calm him down, and would only serve to harm his lungs even more. Most importantly, people needed healing. This was the first time he had ever been so far from the temples, and the thought struck his nerves like a blaster bolt once he had arrived on the planet, sent by the temple to aid those trapped. He saw a few trapped civilians, and went to aid them. His didn't want to waste precious breath talking, so he held up his lightsaber, a blade barely larger than a shota, but with a small clip, attaching it to his cloak. The wiser civilians nodded, while others screamed, "A Jedi, we're saved," while others murmured a little, and others continued their blood-curdling screeches, still under immense pain. He knelt onto the crumbling pavement, trying to limit his use of telekinesis, since a mistake or slip-up while levitating rubble would only do more harm than just lifting the rubble. The stones all had the feeling of moss, and rubbed in the funniest way against his knees, with the pressure reddening the already pinkish bruises on his knees. He gave his best smile, and kept guiding civilians out of the rubble.
Eventually, he had them all out, and went with them to the Jedi ships, using force healing on those that needed immediate help. With all the civilians safe, he glanced into the ships, but saw they were nearly full, so decided to stay behind on the planet for a little. The ships left, and he used his communication device, one distributed to him just for the mission, a standard device for the Jedi, asking for the Jedi to send another ship. He decided to go into meditation, replenishing his energy. He went deep into it, a yellow aura glowing around him. Once he felt replenished, he took a seat on the nearby rubble, reflecting on his time here. He began by putting up a photo book of what he had seen in his mind, filled with mental captures of some of the most heart-breaking and gut-wrenching things he had seen. Then, he began making a check-list of questions, ones that, if he could not answer, he would bring to a Jedi Master after the mission.
All these civilians had their lives ravaged by conflict. I oppose conflict, as do the Jedi. The Empire and Sith do not oppose conflict, and the Republic does not either. What makes the Republic better than the Empire? What makes the Republic better than the Sith? Which brings up the question: which is worse, the Sith or the Empire. Are the Empire the Sith? They both want power over peace. And, most troubling of all, doesn't the Republic want power too, at least right now. His reflections were interrupted soon, however, as the Jedi signaled to him through his communication device, telling him a ship was on its way from Coruscant. Being far from the planet, he knew it would be some time, so he decided to go back into reflection, and maintain his patience and calm as a Jedi.
Eventually, he decided to meander a little more, and observe more of the horrors of the bio-weapons. As he walked down the street, he saw another being, walking along the streets. The creature was far off, and covered in battle armor, so Jerek could not identify them. So, Jerek called out to the creature, saying, "Do you want medical attention, or help?" The poisonous air, noticing the opening, dashed into his mouth, and he swallowed it down, reminding himself to keep all talk to a minimum, or, if necessary, speak at a whisper. He knew the tiniest bit about telepathy, maybe he could project a quick thought onto the target. But, now that he had asked the question through mouth, it would not serve to ask it again, so he decided to get closer to the creature, as, if it needed help, the faster the better.
As he came a little closer, however, he saw the creature was a female Devaronian. His thoughts immediately went to when he first saw one, a bust in the archives of a male Devaronian. He had asked about the bust to the Chief Librarian, who had told him all about the species with a smile. "I guess that was how I started that many-month period of only studying different species," he muttered to himself, his face warming from the fondness of the memories. That was a long time ago, when he was still young, and ignorant of the horrors of war. However, once he felt the toxic air seeping in, the talking causing a mouthful of rancid taste that dragged him back to the moment. He focused back on the present, and walked towards the Devaronian, who might need his help. He was a Jedi, and, even if still a padawan, was meant to aid and protect others, including this mysterious Devaronian. So, he walked, slowly and in the most non-aggressive manner he could think of, to the figure. With his arms outstretched, his feet in a staccato stroll, and his face a reassuring and yet, not cocky smile, only a Sith would have the cruelty to hurt him.

Pain...suffering...agony...a symphony of these delicious emotions surged through Vina. The Devaronian Sith licked her lips as she continued to prowl for more victims. Her master Darth Hervor had assigned her to intercept the Jedi activity on this planet, but Vina couldn't resist the sadist within her and lost track of time forcing civilians to breath in the noxious gas that shrouded this planet. Note to self: If I ever want to make a whole planet miserable I should use bio-weapons. As she kept some mental notes something caught her eye. A young man who's leg is pinned under a humongous slab of concrete.
Vina walked towards him, and once she was close enough the Sith apprentice immediately tapped into what she could of his emotions, shuttering with delight once the flavors of his pain touched her mind. He must have spotted her coming because "Help me!" escaped his lips. The wicked woman's only response was a small chuckle as the man began to violently hack and cough. When the man returned to his senses the first thing he could see was the face of a devil. Crouched and nearly grazing his nose, Vina bore a wicked smile. His face signaled that a scream was coming, but the Durasteel Demon clasped her left hand over his mouth and pursed her lips against the index finger of her right. The man struggled against her grip, so Vina merely stood up and stomped on his vulnerable torso. Once the sound of snapping ribs satisfied her she began to walk away. A grin stayed plastered on her face as she heard the man's mixture of screams and coughs crescendo then decrescendo into dead silence.
Her merriment didn't last long though. As she noticed Jedi ships departing from the planet a series of Devaronese curse words quickly shot out of her mouth. As her throat began to burn, the Sith Acolyte refrained from anymore unnecessary words. Fearing punishment from her master, Vina picked up her pace desperately trying to find a way to salvage her failure.
"Do you want medical attention, or help?" A strange voice called out. Focusing on the target, she noticed another young human man advancing rather quickly towards her. As the two got closer Vina found a way to partially redeem herself. Even though it may have little affect it would still make her mission not a complete loss.
What the Durasteel Demon saw on the man was brown robes, a braid in his hair, and lightsaber hilt at his hip...a stray padawan...perfect. The padawan's pace suddenly decreased as he extended his arms out in a friendly gesture. Oh this is too good. Vina thought right before throwing a haymaker at the man's face.

Jerek saw the haymaker coming right away, and used his force perception to dropped to the floor, getting under the punch. It was not difficult, what with his knowledge of martial arts and other forms of hand-to-hand combat. However, he was in a vulnerable position, and forced to clumsily roll out of the way of an incoming hammer fist. He was already barely avoiding moves, and only two attacks had been thrown. He had to go on the offensive.
As the Sith Apprentice went for a powerful front kick, and Jerek hurled a stone in between the foot and himself. As he edged his way from the kick, his elbows scraping on the cold, rough cobbles of the street, he gave a quick glance to the area around himself, already visualizing a plan, and smirking just a little. However, the grin was wiped right from his face as that same powerful kick from the Sith smashed the stone defending him from her. In his shock at this feat of strength, he paused for a moment, enough for the Sith to land a glancing blow from another kick to his shin. As he launched rubble at the Sith to back off, he muttered, "It's force augmentation, Jerek, you can't get that shocked. It's cool, but brains beats brawn."
As he awkwardly limped away, still hurling rubble, he began using the force to nullify the pain. As he stumbled onto a pile of rubble he had seen recently noted the existance of, he saw the Devaronian was approaching him, and fast. He just wasn't doing anything to her. He needed a plan, of any kind. Come on, I'm smarter than this, he thought. However, the plan would have to take a back seat for a few moments, as the Devaronian sent him tumbling with a force push. Dammit, Jerek! You need to keep that Force Shield Up. At least its distance. Jerek decided to take a moment, and recount how he had used the force so far. What was it master taught me? "Think of your force use as a battery. The more you use the force, the more your energy and focus wane. Also, every time you do something different with the force, it spends more than staying with one thing."
Jerek stumbled into a nearby wall, looking at the Devaronian. I am really rusty at this whole combat thing, but I need to get this fight moving in the other direction. There is some great setting for tactical advantage there. Oh, and keep the talking and breathing to a minimum. With his crippled foot and lack of physical training as compared to his opponent, she was quickly upon him. However, he knew had to use this bio weapon against her. Although physical exercise would force him to take in more air, that would also lead to him succumbing to it. Also, those with more muscle would need more air, and more calories in order to activate the chemical formula which supplies energy. That would mean that the buffer and more active Devaronian would have a disadvantage. However, Jerek needed to press that, and keep his breathing lower.
Jerek drew his lightsaber, and attached it to his robe. All he needed was to press into the Devaronian. He took a breath, and focused on his force shield. The pain would be annoying, but he knew he could win. He now had a plan. Smiling, he thought, all that learning in the archives might finally help in battle. He got into a Form 6 stance, and freed up his left hand for force attacks. His feet planted, a smile on his face, and his lightsaber ready, Jerek was ready to battle this Sith.
OOC: I just realized something. Sith are naturally going to have an advantage in Coolness, right? I mean, if a Jedi does something deadly and badass, then it goes against Jedi principles, so they lose points in other categories, but a Sith would gain in other categories if they show themselves doing nasty and evil things. Am I missing something that balances things?
Because I don't want to spend a post clogging the thread with OOC stuff, I'll just respond here. Coolness is entirely subjective (all of these are, to some degree) and based on what you can accomplish with your character as a writer. It's entirely possible, and has been done many times, to be "cool" while remaining within the confines of whatever morals your character has. x3 -Rugs

Damn this padawan! Vina internally screamed as he slinked away from her onslaught. Following him to the wall, she bestowed him the reward of seeing her wicked grin before being murdered. Connecting to his emotions her grin quickly turned into a snarl. He's numbing his pain, where's the fun in that? This is why fighting Jedi is so boring, she would much rather torture them. When their whole peace and serenity act finally breaks it becomes simply euphoric for the Durasteel Demon.
Letting her anger take over, the poisonous gas lingering in the air slipped Vina's mind. "Get up you puny Jedi! I want you screaming in agony after this!" The severe pain in her throat was a swift reminder. Vina throws her head down with a hand clasped over her mouth. When she recovers and looks back up, the Jedi was already standing with his lightsaber drawn. Finally thought as she drew her own.
Though the Devaronian seemed to have fixed eyes with him, she was discreetly sizing him up. Not very well protected, weak build, injured leg, not likely trained well in combat based on the first two traits. This battle should be easy, especially since he's already against a wall. Licking her lips, Vina decided to make the first move.
She charged the padawan, swinging her lightsaber like a madwoman. Though expending a lot of energy from the beginning, her plan was to end it at the start. She saw cuts go into the wall, but her blind rage left her vision obscured. Hoping atleast a few hits landed, she began to slow her swings as her breath increased. Enduring the pain in her throat, she stopped her attack and waited, expecting to see a dead padawan.

Round 2 tepigturtwigEffort: 4/5 Fairness: 4/5 Detail: 5/5 Coolness: 3/5 Bonus: 0/2 Comments: Good post, all around. Gonna ding you slightly in fairness for controlling Vina a bit in your post (unless this is something jounin gave permission for? If so that needs to be indicated to me and we've got no prob). It's not anything egregious, and you used to to hurt your own character, so minimal penalty, but try to keep that to a minimum, or let me know if it's a pre-agreed-upon thing. JouninEffort: 4/5 Fairness: 5/5 Detail: 3/5 Coolness: 3/5 Bonus: 0/2 Comments: Good post again Jounin. Concise, but you do a great job of bringing things into your character's headspace. Keep it up. Total: tepigturtwig - 31 Jounin - 30 Tepig takes a slight lead. Rolling along to round 3.

Jerek couldn't help but smirk when the Devaronian screamed, "I want you screaming in agony after this!" If she wants me to scream in agony, I recommend she stop trying to convey that thought to me. Otherwise she'll be the one screaming in agony. He could see her sizing him up, but he was also sizing her up as they fought. She is a lot more combat focused then me. She seems to like torture or pain, so, I bet she'll try to make this long and painful. I could use that. All I have to do is wait for that ship I signaled for earlier. However, he didn't get much more time as the Devaronian charged at him, swinging her lightsaber in a flurry of red.
Jerek gave a confident grin, his eyes narrowing and lips, although sealed, expanding. Did she think that this wall couldn't help me, too? As she came at him, Jerek focused on the wall. Master taught me that the force is like a battery. Well, this may spend a lot of that battery, but I can probably charge it back up. So, as her lightsaber swings and blind rage came at him, he formed his defense from the force and icy confidence. The parts of the wall around him began crumbling, and subtly formed into a shield in front of him. Should detain her until I can meditate a little. As the Devaronian's onslaught began, he closed his eyes and went into a meditation pose.
I now see why the Jedi are righteous and oppose conflict. My first question has been answered. If the Republic has sided with us over the Sith, then they are at least somewhat righteous too. It could have been the Sith they wanted as protectors. My second question is answered. I can not answer my latter questions right now. I must focus in on peace, and kindness. Through the light side of the force, I can be victorious. He opened his eyes, a rush of energy and warmth filling him, only to cease as the noise and chaos of the battle rushed back into him.
It seemed the Devaronian was almost finished with her barrage, and that he had accidentally sheathed his lightsaber. Oh well, I probably won't be using that anytime soon. She is too superior physically. Before the defensive wall was completely destroyed, he glanced at the lightsaber burns on it. They were wide, probably Shii-Cho. However, they did not press too far, maybe taking just a little from Soresu. Jerek could work with Soresu users, and had far more problems dealing with Makashi users, who stood a higher chance of deflecting force attacks. However, Jerek needed to get moving, and sent a surge of force to his legs, force jumping high enough to barely scale past her.
Now that her onslaught is done, it is too risky to try and get in for an attack. She'll realize I'm not there, and probably turn around. So, instead, Jerek hobbled away, hoping to get some distance. He lowered his force shield, hoping to bait her into a force push. Alright, so maybe I was wrong thinking she would play this out. She seems to want to finish this early. I have to change that. Jerek knew that prolonging this would take all her advantage and hand it to him. Alright, what's that thing master taught me to do in battle? Oh, the 5 justifications. If I am going to drag out a battle, I need 5 reasons. A. I can last much longer in the poison gas due to the attributes of the light side of the force healing and nourishing, as opposed to the harmful effects of the dark side on the body. B. I have less muscle, so I need less oxygen to keep my body running. And in this gas, that could really hurt her. C. She is really forgetting about this toxic gas. If I can really fire her up, she might kill herself for me. D. As the battle continues, she will become more and more enraged and consume more and more energy. I can moderate myself and stay calm. E. If I last long enough, my ship will come, and she'll be facing me, and a few other soldiers or Jedi. Probably a few more Jedi, since I called to them.
With all the logic seeming to point to him, in his mind, he needed to now carry out some actions. Jerek focused in on the rubble around him, and began lifting them up and hurling them, all at her head. I don't need these to make contact, just to go at her head. They will pick up toxins from the air around them as they go and perhaps these toxins will get into her lungs. The more poison in her body, the weaker she is. The wind rushing by him was refreshing, and inspired his confidence. However, he could see all that accumulated poison gas in the wind was so concentrated it was turning the skin near it a sickly green. It began burning his flesh, and he clenched at it, hoping it would have the same effect on her Devaronian body. Then, as he began retreating, he put too much weight on the wrong leg, the injured one. So, he fell into a crumpled and in pain mess, hoping his force attacks would keep her at bay. All he could think of in his agony was to roll into the piles of rubble, and force lift a few to get himself under the pile. He had peek holes, but it would take a while for him to get out. Hopefully it would take a while for her to get in, and some more time to deflect all the rubble he had hurled.
