The Rancor was packed like always at this time of the day. Most of the regular customers had already appeared from whatever hole they called home to quench their thirst, undeterred by the torrential and slightly acidic rain pouring onto the streets. That there was dedication to a bad habit or possibly a crippling addiction. Garrick liked to think it was the former but in all likelihood it was the latter. The rest of the crowd consisted of either new faces or folks that came around occasionally but not as often as the regulars for reasons of their own.
From his booth Garrick had an excellent view over the bar floor which allowed him to indulge in one of his favorite pastimes, people watching. It was only ever fun in a place where people were at some point bound to do something unexpected, like a bar. Staring at people in the streets rarely yielded interesting sights, just boring folks passing in hurry. In a dive bar like this something interesting was bound to happen sooner or later when someone crossed the point of no return on the drunk scale and spilled someone else's drink or did something similar. Just one of the charms of this place. There was always a certain tension in the air, mixed in that miasma of depression, mania, mostly impotent anger, drunken joy and gleeful oblivion that always hung in the air in here.
Today had been a good so far for Garrick; he had successfully finished a job that paid well, got paid without any hassle, which was always nice and all too rare, gone for a celebratory drinks in a friends place and scored the comm frequency of a twi'lek hot waitress and just moments ago he had beaten a couple of idiots in the cards. Needles to say Garrick was currently in a really good mood. The only thing that was raining on his day, aside from the actual rain outside, was the fact that he was beginning to feel a bit bored. People watching only got you so far and that waitress wasn't getting off until couple of hours from now.
