Nola Raan Full Name • Nola Lyra Raan Race • Mirialan Birthplace • Mirial Age • 29 Gender • Female Sexuality • Heterosexual Faction • Fringe Concept • Grey Jedi, Mechanic (Rank 2) Languages • Basic, Droidspeak, Shyriiwook, Huttese Assets • Hydrospanner, lightsaber - indigo Appearance Height & Weight • 5’2, 135 Pounds Overall Looks • The one thing that stands out (or rather, doesn’t) about Nola is her height. She stands well below average with a mess of long, soft chestnut hair, leaving her warm eyes to peek out from behind it. Being so short, Nola’s rather buxom bosom makes quite the statement in contrast to her stature. But don’t be fooled by the large curves of her body. She is quite strong from her years of Jedi training, along with being quite flexible which comes naturally to the Mirialan species. Also being Mirialan, Nola’s face proudly holds her species’ tradition of facial tattoos which stand in stark contrast to her green skin. Two diamond like shapes rest against each cheek. Her chin holds a more unique shape, fitting nicely against her chin’s natural contour, creating a ‘valley’ like feel and a small triangular shape to fit in the gap under her full, round lips. Nola’s clothes are rather plain. However, despite wearing such neutral style in clothing they somehow seem less than so with her large breasts, making any sort of top tight and somewhat revealing against her large curves. Her tops mainly consist of a cropped shirt that is covered usually with dirty, worn overalls - her boots to match the look of her beloved overalls. Nola also can be found with a pair of gloves on, whilst working on some sort of repair project. She does have a lightsaber which was constructed after she had left the order; which she keeps in a hidden pocket within the upper part her right pant of her overalls. She does keep a hydrospanner in her pocket along with a blaster at her side as well which is attached with the usual belt. Personality Profile Nola’s persona is considered to be calm, sweet and thoughtful. Her past Jedi teachings have attributed to this but her natural behaviors have always been the same. Nola tends to think before she acts and if she doesn’t have an answer to a serious question she will always take the time to consider before giving her opinion. While this trait is a great one in itself, it can be a bit hindering in a situation where she may have to make a quick decision. Those decisions in particular sometimes can stress Nola. Her tranquil aura leaves anyone in her wake with a presence of calm. This is very favorable in tense situations. Her sweet nature makes her very tolerable and when first introduced she can seem shy as well. While her nature may seem peaceful, Nola isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. She loves to tinker and has a natural gift and talent for fixing things. She is very persevering in the fact which she makes sure that any job she is given is done and in good time. Background Father • Razi Raan, deceased. Mother • Landa Raan, deceased. Siblings • No Siblings Other Important Connections • Aerena Midany - 53 - Former Jedi Master Carth Gantu - Former lover, deceased. Overall History • Nola Raan was born twenty-eight years ago on the Mirialan planet of Mirial, in the Outer Rim Territories of the Sith Empire. Not long after the child was born her parents, Razi and Landa Raan, were offered high-ranking engineering positions at Kuat Drive Yards. So while Nola was just a baby, the young family made the long journey to the Republic and the Core Worlds. But it wasn’t long after Razi, Landa, and Nola had settled into their new house and lives that there was an accident at the shipyards. A pair of shuttles and a few automated droids collided, and Razi and Landa both lost their lives. At not even a year old, Nola Raan was orphaned, away from any family she might have had back on Mirial. When Nola was sent to an orphanage on Kuat, she was given the standard round of blood tests and vaccinations the Republic requires, as she was born in Sith Space. The orphanage found that she was in fact Force-sensitive. As such, they didn’t bother to make room for the Baby Mirialan, and had a Jedi come and bring her to the Jedi Temple. So Nola grew up like most other Jedi Younglings, never knowing of her family or her short past outside of the Jedi Order. She was a quiet child, excelling in classes based around using the Force and general academics, though lightsaber sparring did not come naturally to her. In fact, once when a older Zabrak boy was acting as a bully to the rest of their youngling clan, Nola was able to talk the other youngling down. Aerena Midanyl, a Mirialan Jedi Master and Watchman of Obroa-skai, came to the Temple looking for a second padawan after her first reached Knighthood. Master Midanyl studied the younglings for a few days, and she liked what she saw in the then eleven-year-old Nola Raan. Aerena was quiet, and laid back, much like Nola already was. The two Jedi gelled together well. Though Nola wasn’t exactly pleased with leaving Coruscant on a permanent basis, the idea of a planet that held the most complete records in the entire Galaxy excited the girl. Next to Master Midanyl, Nola took to the duties of a Jedi Watchman with ease and grace. A few a few years, Aerena had Nola make her first lightsaber. Aerena let Nola take about her own lightsaber. Not only was the Apprentice able to build her own lightsaber, but rebuild her Master’s as well, without guidance. Aerena was impressed, to say the least. Nola’s engineering skills were matchless for someone her age. Afterwards, Aerena took Nola to Ilum, and Nola found herself a purple crystal for her lightsaber. Afrew a bit of meditation on the crystal to attune it, Nola’s very first lightsaber was ready for use. When Nola turned eighteen, War broke out between the Republic and Sith. Nola and Aerena were both as pacifist as they could be, being Jedi. And as such, they had no intention of joining war effort with other Jedi. Instead, they kept to their Watchman duties on Obroa-skai. However, the War would find the pair of Jedi, whether they wanted it or not. One of the first skirmishes of the War came to Obroa-skai. Nola and Aerena were caught in the fighting, and helped lead troops in defense of the planet. Though the Republic won the day, Nola was separated from her Master. They never found a body, and Master Midanyl was presumed deceased. After the skirmish on Obroa-skai, Nola went back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She wanted nothing to do with the fighting anymore. She wanted nothing to do with all the death and destruction. And the more and more it seemed that the Jedi were supporting the War, the more that she wanted less to do with them, as well. After a hard night of meditation and internal debate, Nola made the toughest decision of her life; she surrendered her lightsaber, and left the Jedi Order behind her. Not sure what to do with herself afterwards, Nola took her as far as the handful of credits she had would take her, to the Outer Rim. To Tatooine. When Nola had settled on Tatooine, she opened a small garage and machine shop in Anchorhead, putting her talents to good use. It was a lonely life for a few years, but the Mirialan made decent money as everyone from moisture farmers to spacers came to her for her skill in turning a hydrospanner. But it was a peaceful life, and Nola enjoyed that aspect greatly. Sometime after her twenty-third birthday, however, Nola got an unusual customer. A spacer, who owned a light freighter. He was a Twi’lek with red skin named Carth. He came in with a broken droid one day, and then the next day with a broken hyperdrive motivator. He came in day and day, over and over, with parts that needed fixing, but it all just kept looking like worse and worse junk over time. Finally, one of Carth’s astromech droids spilled the beans to Nola, when the Spacer wasn’t around. Carth kept finding junk to bring to Nola to fix, so the Twi’lek had an excuse to talk to the Mirialan. Nola found the whole thing rather cute, and sweet. So she held his astromech in her shop and wouldn’t give it back, until the man agreed to a dinner with her. Carth agreed, and what came after that one dinner was the start of a romantic relationship that lasted for several years. For the first few years, Carth couldn’t convince Nola to leave Tatooine. She loved her shop far too much. But eventually, the Hutts started to muscles through her part of Anchorhead, and Nola didn’t want to deal with the trouble. After that, Nola lived on Carth’s ship with him, The Obsidian. They traveled the Galaxy for about two years or so, until Nola was about twenty-seven, getting into trouble and causing trouble as well. Carth finally came clean about being a smuggler, but Nola didn’t really care, because she cared about him. However, trouble caught up with the Twi’lek when the pair landed on Onderon. Nola left the ship for a little while, only to come back to find most of Carth’s droid destroyed, and the Twi’lek murdered in the cargo hold. Nola didn’t deal with Carth’s death well, but she had little time to grieve, as the Mandalorians invaded not long after. With passage off of Onderon scarce and difficult, Nola sold Carth’s ship, and used the money to open a second repair shop. After the dust had settled over Iziz, Republic SIS reached out to the Mirialan, thinking the the Grey Jedi would be perfect to help them stir up trouble against the Mandalorians. But once again, Nola wanted little to do with the War, and violence in general. |
