With a size to rival small giants, the man ducks through doorways, shakes rickety walkways with his step, and does the physical work of five men put together. Muscles rise and fall out of every part of his physique, covered by scarred, tanned skin. A thick beard hangs from his jaw, linking up to free-flowing locks of dark blonde hair. As for the rest of him, a thick set of beskar'gam only makes him seem a little bigger. All of this clothes a man that makes no pretenses in his appearance. Giant smiles can stretch from ear to ear as easily as scornful snarls, with all gambits of expressions between. Genthus's posture is rarely slouched or crumpled, his chest often out in sheer boldness, his hands commonly resting on his hips. To hear him laugh and bellow makes one think of him less as a man and more of a feral beast that has found a treasure. All of this is typically on display, as Genthus has little problem removing his helmet for the world to see. Personality Profile Genthus is a textbook stubborn Mando, fitting the expectations of the usual image almost to a tee. Determined to no end and often just a bit proud, any objective chosen is not simply pursued, but indeed hunted down with full passion and attention. An idealistic, almost naive code of honor and glory set beneath allows some of these goals to be foolish, borderline insane, and yet they are pursued with the same rigor. The death of a legendary monster? Done. A resolution to centuries of fear and fighting? Simple. Genthus simplifies any given task down to a single-minded mentality that can prove his undoing as often as his boon. Many times this can come across as a selfish style of arrogance. When he isn't zeroed on anything in particular, however, the spacer continues to fit the bill for his culture. Able to drink and eat like a bottomless pit, Genthus does love a good celebration, a friendly competition, bold boasts, grand tales, and even the occasional rouse. He comes across as genuine in most things; a man with bold plans happily living his life by his principles, content to die for them if the need arises (only after the mustering the most intense fight of the age, of course). This makes him dangerously fearless, gladly willing to take on threats and burdens with little regard for what they might entail. The Sigurds, however, emphasized doing so by fighting great beasts rather than sentient creatures, and were so better suited at adapting to the rule of the Republic following the ban on Resol'nare. Many of the Sigurd Deshras, therefore, wandered the galaxy more as pest-removers than warriors, showing a great tenacity and ferocity in dispatching beasts that plagued people across the galaxy. Genthus proved no different. Born a large baby and growing into a larger child, Genthus's early life consisted of following his parents across the galaxy from the Core to the Rims, looking for fights all the way. His parents taught their son the usual cadre of Mandalorian culture and philosophy, but made dedicated efforts not to highlight more lofty goals such as crusades and revenge versus the Republic, which had claimed the lives of many Sigurds. More importantly, Genthus learned the family trade quickly, beginning to accompany his parents on hunts at the age of 10. As he continued to grow like a weed, Genthus became a fine hunter. Between their many jobs, the family of three would visit other members of the Deshra clan, including Genthus's grandfather and orphaned cousin Magnus. The two would butt heads regularly, Genthus's bully attitude butting up against Magnus's staunch pragmatism, but they endured, as families do. Genthus was likewise introduced to his youngest cousin, Avi, when the young one still fit in a bucket. Neither of Genthus's parents lived to see the war, with them both succumbing to a combination of age and dangerous creatures. His father was the first to die thanks to an unlucky encounter with a rancor. Continuing to hunt with his mother, she too fell to an acklay two years later, leaving Genthus to continue their trade alone. Initially discouraged, the giant Mandalorian was set back on his path by his grandfather. With the outbreak of the war, Magnus and their grandfather both crafted Genthus a suit of beskar'gam before his grandfather's death of natural causes, leaving the cousins alone. Armed with experience, beskar, and an almost stubbornly-set spirit, Genthus became renowned at his trade. With the war offering up new forms of work, he branched out, often being called upon to deal with opponents that employed beasts as weapons. Genthus regarded such beast-tamers with particular contempt; not only was it pathetic to let another creature do one's fighting for them, but to lock a wild, free animal for such greedy purposes made him sick. His adventures eventually landed him on Prazhi, where he took a boisterous crack at the newly-founded arena. Finding it a particular challenge and a refreshing change of pace from his usual work, Genthus returned often enough to become a regular in tournaments. After much trial and error, he became a consistent top-performer, battling fiercely for the champion's title. |
