Nothing in his equipment is irreplaceable, as he understands occasional necessity dictates losing gear to blend in with a crowd. Personality Profile Luca is cold and calculating. A man with no one to call friend or to share in his crusade for personal justice, he follows a path of vendetta against any and all who wronged him. Once, a good and resolute man who believed in causes and galactic peace, his trials have left him a broken and scarred shell of his former self. Where at one time he would have sacrificed himself to save lives, he now takes lives without remorse or regret. Truly, the wrongs done to this man have opened his eyes to the dark and dirty horrors that dwell in the deep corners of the galaxy. He is a man of purpose, always moving forward to the next mission. Background Father • REDACTED Mother • REDACTED Siblings • REDACTED Other Important Connections • Alexius Stormhall, 35, Imperial Intelligence Agent (Professional Partner) Overall History • Lucadonus Lestroud was once a proud soldier in the Imperial Army. He worked as a scout sniper and had a very impressive track record of success in both assassination and covering strategic retreat for deployed assets. His, was the team that was called in when seemingly solid missions went sideways. A man of discretion and tact, he believed in his work and knew that every time he squeezed the trigger of his rifle, he was making the galaxy a safer place. This man did not have hate in his heart. He was resolute and steadfast in his job. His vision was keen when sighting down a scope, and in his career, Lucadonus pulled off some very impressive shots from increased distances. The soldiers under his watchful eye nicknamed him “Demon Eyes Luca”, for he saw more death than any ten of them combined, and yet still seemed to sleep soundly at night. Luca was well on his way to a very prestigious career. Until his sight started to fade. It happened quickly and very unexpectedly. At first, doctors told him that it was simply a part of the human aging process. He was able to see well enough in a mundane setting, but objects and people at distance were getting more and more fuzzy by the week. Eventually he was unable to carry on as a sniper. Not wanting to lose a promising soldier, High Command reassigned Luca to the Ministry of Intelligence, to work as a field agent. Though his eyes were on a steady decline at range, Lestroud was still very sharp minded and detail oriented. And it was through the help of his assigned partner, Alexius, that Luca took to tradecraft like a fish to water. He became an expert in CQC (close quarters combat) and proved quite nimble with his hands, even going so far as to taking an interest in pickpocketing. Unfortunately the initial prognosis of his vision had been wrong. Instead of his vision dimming with age, it was later found that he had contracted a rare optical disease caused by harmful spores in the air, produced by a fungus native to a world he was previously deployed on. The disease threatened to stop only when he was reduced to making out vague shapes and colors. While not life-threatening, it was firmly the end of his professional career. It may have been luck then, that highly placed individuals in the command structure let slip that an experimental procedure was being tested that may not only cure Luca’s condition, but enhance his vision to even higher standards than before. Not wanting to be forced into retirement at the ripe age of 33, Luca signed off on the procedure and went under the knife. His desperation had nullified his better judgement and attention to detail. Luca had neglected to ask what the procedure entailed, and at the time he hadn’t cared. He just didn’t want to go blind. It turned out that the Empire was not very fond of constantly being at a martial disadvantage to the Sith, who held the monopoly on their mystic Force users. The Ministry of Imperial Intelligence therefore made a fallen Sith Lord “disappear” from the battlefield. The eyes of which were donated to the wounded agent fund and were subsequently implanted into Luca Lestroud off the books. The Ministry, knowing little about the Force, figured that the medichlorians stayed within the body after death, and therefore, could be used by someone who was not inherently Force Sensitive if connected to their body. They were experimenting as well to see if foreign eyes could be transplanted into a human skull. The biological science was sound enough to risk the attempt, and Luca Lestroud had been deemed expendable enough to try. It came as little surprise to many scientists, that this was not the case. And in Lestroud’s case, his body rejected the transplants violently and he was subsequently declared clinically blind. Not wanting to lose any more money on the failed experiment, the Empire medically discharged Luca from the Intelligence Corps and sent him packing to civilian life with half salary and poor medical benefits for the remainder of his days, never even giving Luca the benefit of removing the faulty eyes they had put in him. To his great surprise, two months after the operation, Luca stopped seeing eternal blackness, and instead began to see a single bright light. For him, it was like staring directly into the sun for days on end. So back into the hospital he went, and the civilian doctors there were dumbfounded to find that his pupils were reacting to light again. The eyes that his body initially rejected had somehow healed and reconnected themselves to his optical nerves. Slowly but surely, his sight returned. In the course of a week, his vision was fully restored and as sharp as ever. The drawback was that he was now extremely photosensitive and his eyes gained an eerie yellow glow to them that didn’t seem to go away. The bright light never seemed to wane from his sight, but it had effectively turned night into day. He saw into darkness as though the sun were still high above, but it had also turned daytime into an object lesson of staring into a solar flare. When he returned to the Ministry of Intelligence shortly after, to inform them of his miracle and ask for assistance and potentially reinstatement, he found that he was barred entry from the building. Luca was unable to so much as cross the lobby before armed guards bodily escorted him out. When he tried to tell them who he was and handed over his identity card, he was immediately arrested and thrown in prison. A week later, his old partner Alexius Stormhall made a surprise appearance and secretly helped him escape jail. He’d just happened to have been near a security terminal when Luca had been arrested and had seen it unfold. After some digging, he found out that Luca’s record had been destroyed and his entire military jacket had come up missing. He’d also discovered a plot to have Luca murdered in prison. The Ministry of Intelligence had officially disavowed Luca Lestroud, burning his identity so they could cover up their medical mistake. They completely erased Lestroud and even tried to have him killed to hide their blunder before the Sith found out what they had done. Decades of exemplary service. Years of self sacrifice and dedication. Luca was officially mad. Which ended up being fine with him, because as a man who no longer existed, he had almost complete freedom to exact his vengeance on those who had taken everything from him. He began a personal campaign against the Empire, using their own tradecraft secrets and training against them. They had trained him well, and would soon find out that their biggest blunder was failing to kill him. His vendetta would not end until he found who had given the order to wipe him from the face of the galaxy. He wanted to watch their kingdom fall under the ocean of fire he was about to reign down on them. Whoever had signed the order, had set events in motion and had effectively destroyed Luca’s life. He was going to return the favor personally. |
