Syla Full Name • Syla Loma Nickname • The Kolto Queen Race • Umbaran Birthplace • Umbara Age • 32 Gender • Female Sexuality • Bisexual Faction • Fringe Concept • Ex-padawan, Illicit Trader: main supply is kolto. Languages • Basic, Umbaran, and Huttese Assets • Standard light saber, stingbeam, and an empty mini kolto tank on her belt (to confirm identity to clients). Appearance Height & Weight • 5'6" & 115lbs Overall Looks • Syla is of a slender build with slight curves typically hidden by her clothes. Much like many of her race she has pale skin with bluish tones, gaunt facial features, and colorless eyes. While some Umbarans are naturally bald, she is not, but prefers to keep her head shaved for convenience. Her only notable scar is across her abdomen due to a couple of blaster shots there. Syla more or less has one set of clothes. A loose fitting long sleeved beige shirt, baggy light brown pants, black leather boots, and her dark brown padawan robe. Typically all her clothes except for the robe is worn and filthy due to overuse. Despite wearing it every now and again, she manages to keep her robe maintained. Personality Profile When the term friends in low places is used one would typically think of a conniving low life whose trust is flaky, but business is secure. By this definition, Syla is indeed a friend in low places. Her morals and ventures go by a self first others later method, but if someone is good business she will be definitively loyal to them until their business drops. This being said, on her end she is not so quick to trust. Albeit this does not mean she's anti-social or a lone wolf. It is quite the opposite actually. When in public settings such as cantinas, parties, or rather any large friendly gathering, Syla is quite the socialite. Ironically, she learned how a charming smile and confident attitude is more convincing and disarming than a dour attitude from the Jedi. As a padawan whenever she applied the Jedi code to communicating outside the order, people were more stand offish or lacked a connection. This lead her striving to become more casual and charismatic after her training ceased. Albeit it is not the charming rouge style that many of her trade carry. Umbaran culture taught her to always remain calm, collected, and poker faced. While she disliked the impersonal aspects of it, she uses it to her advantage. When socializing she typically ends up becoming a dark horse of interest. Someone who looks so lowly, but has a mysterious and confident aura about them. She leads people to become intrigued by her mystique, so they are more likely to spread rumors which helps muddy the truth. Background Father • Kree Loma, 58, Major (Army) Mother • Manee Loma, 60, Assassin (Spec. Ops) Siblings • Sayda Loma, 28, Soldier (Army) Other Important Connections • Sah Rhezz, 47, Syla's former Jedi Master. Janak Dass, 38, Syla's kolto supplier. Overall History • Life in the military caste of Umbara wasn't one full of luxury, but not one of struggle either. While she always had food on her plate, there wasn't much of a childhood to live. When Syla wasn't training for warfare, she was taking care of her little sister while her parents were fighting the empire. While showing signs of being force sensitive, it was never fully acknowledged until a training simulation when she was 12. Since then the military trained her to use her force powers for tracking and on field assistance. By the time Syla turned 18, the Jedi Order caught wind of this force wielding soldier. After talking with the republic military and her family, Syla was arranged to meet a Jedi Master by the name of Sah Rhezz; a stern nautolan woman. Since Syla grew up only knowing war, Sah thought to begin by teaching her all about healing and diplomacy. Over the next few years, Syla became her padawan and traveled all over to Republic and independent planets training in those skills. Along with this Sah adapted her training with vibro swords to light sabers so she would one day be able to properly wield one. For awhile Sah wasn't getting through to her padawan on the importance of healing and medicine. That was up until their trip to Manaan. Learning all about the politics and kept neutrality through kolto, something clicked. Medicine has a high war demand, and with high demand comes profit. Feigning a revelation on why keeping these soldiers and civilians alive were so important, her master revealed that they were actually here on business and not just for the lesson. A selkath medical engineer by the name of Janak Dass had been accused of selling kolto illegally. He locked himself in his office and refused to negotiate with any of his co-workers. That is where the Jedi duo come in. Sah decided to work on tracking the missing tanks while she sent in Syla on her own with a comm-link to test if she could solve this through diplomacy. In the end she brokered a deal with him. He agreed to be exiled from Manaan as punishment. Her master was thoroughly impressed, but noticed a twinge of the dark side increasing in her. Wanting to trust her, Sah didn't bring it up, but kept an eye out for future missions. In reality, Syla didn't handle the situation to the Jedi Code. She had convinced Janak to upload his schematics and leave for Hutt space. There he would be able to produce kolto on his own terms. She would keep in contact and sell for him so he could lay low and she could make some credits. He set up a new office in Nar Shadda. Meanwhile Syla kept on helping Sah with diplomatic missions. After a series of successful pacifistic missions her master granted her the right to wield a light saber. This was of course after drilling in that it is a last resort to use. Eventually Sah started to catch wind of what her padawan was doing with Janak, but gave her benefit of the doubt. She hoped that if her padawan was working with the exile that is was to help heal innocents who need access to kolto but don't have the resources. Once the tentative peace rolled in between the Republic and Empire, Sah and her had less jobs to do. After reaching eleven years of padawan training, she was starting to be considered in advancing to a knight. This all blew up though when her master decided to use this new free time to investigate her padawan further. She found out that Syla had a side business going on selling to Hutts, pirates, slavers, and other criminals. Devastated by her hand in helping crime, she gave her padawan an ultimatum: cut all ties immediately or be taken to Republic law. Syla instead had set an ambush for her master. After getting jumped and drugged to make her slower, Syla was able to overpower Sah. Instead of killing her former master, she hired some mercenaries to put her unconscious body on the next shuttle to Coruscant. Now a fugitive with crimes starting to stack; Syla decided to hang around Hutt space, and make as many connections as she can. |
