Though he has not officially taken on a Padawan learner himself, he does donate his free time to helping and instructing others wherever possible, whether it be in the Force or lightsaber techniques. Some of the more elderly Jedi Masters may view his behavior as childish at times, and may scoff at his attitudes, but Rill honestly believes in teaching the next generation and connecting with them as much as possible. Background Father • Taven Ringard, 68 Mother • Marta Ringard, 66 Siblings • None Other Important Connections • Friends and connections throughout the galaxy, close friends within the Jedi Order Overall History • Rill was born into a reasonably well off family on the planet Naboo. A beautiful world, Naboo was covered with many different landscapes ranging from rolling plains and grassy hills to swampy lakes. His mother and father, both of whom he does not remember, were very nice people and well respected in the community. They both held positions within the royal capital, working with the administration, but decided that city life was not where they wanted to raise their only child. Instead, they owned a cabin in the grassy plains just outside of the capitol. Rill spent the first few years of his life here, until his third birthday when he begin to exhibit signs of being force sensitive. Upon having their child tested, Taven and Marta Ringard were visited by two members of the Jedi order. Jedi knights, they explained their pitch and after much soul searching and tears, Rill's parents decided it would be best to send him to begin his new life and start his training to become a Jedi. The first few months away were the hardest for Rill. He longed for home and to see his mom and dad again. After a while, he began to make new friends, some that he would carry with him for the rest of his life, though he didn't know it yet. And little by little, Rill began to assimilate into the Jedi culture and way of life, leaving his old life behind and not looking back. He spent the next few years growing and maturing, learning and taking in all that he could. Rill was fascinated by the Jedi and all that they did to keep the peace. He revered the council's reputation for wisdom and vowed to work hard enough to earn his place on that same council one day. As his training progressed, Rill did very well on almost all the tests they put him through. He showed great promise and ingenuity, especially when handling a training saber. Though he had not chosen a form of lightsaber combat to study yet, instead just practicing the basic Shii-Cho that all younglings are taught, Rill turned several heads with how nimble he was and how natural wielding a blade seemed for him. Upon taking the Jedi initiate trials some years later, and passing all three tests fairly easily, he then was entered into the apprentice tournament that was held each year. If he was being totally honest, he was actually a little nervous. This was the time where he needed to shine. At the tournament every year several prospective masters always attended, watching the little ones compete and judging how well they were doing. It was important to do your best because these masters that attended the tournament were sometimes seeking new apprentices for their own. When the day came, Rill was exceptional, showing more prowess with a blade than any of the other students there. He had studied hard, practiced for countless days, and when the time came, all of his hard work had paid off. Though his connection to the Force was strong, it was mostly untamed and unpracticed. But that wasn't enough to deter his first master, Kane Teranna, from selecting him as his new Padawan leaner. Kane was quite impressed with how Rill handled himself throughout the tournament and knew that Rill would make an excellent Jedi knight some day. After conferring with the council, they approved his appointment and was promoted to Padawan learner under Master Teranna. Kane was a great and very skilled Jedi. He had served the order for several years as both a knight and a master. He had a strong connection to the force and was also a great swordsmen, which was one of the deciding factors for him when he selected Rill as his new apprentice. He seen how natural Rill was with a blade and knew that he would be a great teacher for Rill to learn from. Upon doing more studies and as the years went by, Rill came to appreciate and grew very fond of the fourth form of lightsaber combat, Ataru. After speaking with Kane, he made the choice to study this form exclusively and to become a master of it. Kane, though familiar with the form, did not actively practice its application as he was a practitioner of the sixth form of lightsaber combat, Niman. So Rill sought guidance and tutelage from other masters in the temple who practiced this form and the battlemaster, learning a great deal about its use and practicality. Kane also did a great deal to teach Rill in the ways of the force and its uses. He taught him a variety of skills and meditations, and little by little Kane's control over the force became much better. As the years went by, Master Teranna and his Padawan learner went on numerous missions together for the Order, with Rill continuing to learn a great deal. Planet after planet, the two of them were an exceptional duo, reading each other’s movements and body language without having to speak any words. They got themselves into their fair share of trouble, mind you, but they always seemed to pull each other through whatever hole they dug themselves. Master Teranna was very wise and his responses to various situations always were very tactful and calculated, something Rill admired about his master. As time passed, Kane felt as though Rill was ready to take his trials and become a full fledged knight. He recommended his Padawan be put through the tests and the council approved. The trials were not easy; they challenged Rill in ways he had not yet experienced. In time though, he overcame each trial one by one, doing particularly well in the trials of skill and insight. Upon his completion of all five, the council approved and appointed the rank of Jedi Knight on Rill. Kane was very proud of his former apprentice, congratulating him for his accomplishment. After the trials and his promotion, Rill went on numerous different missions for the order over the years and began to build quite a reputation for himself. He made made friends throughout the galaxy and his share of enemies. He became a great diplomat and negotiator, able to quell fighting by sitting down and talking issues through with both sides. But what Rill really became known for was his proficiency with a lightsaber. Though he had chosen a mastery of the fourth form, which inherently had a weakness to deflecting blaster bolts, Rill’s experience and technique allowed him to overcome this particular weakness and he became quite adept at deflecting blaster shots. His mastery of the Force had improved greatly as well, though he would use the Force to enhance his movements and senses more than anything else. Rill became quite adept at allowing the Force to flow freely through him, empowering his body and allowing him to accomplish feats that were otherwise physically impossible. He was also skilled with telekinesis and other physical applications of the force, but he rarely used these abilities as he preferred to engage in lightsaber combat with his foes. As time passed and Rill became more experienced and proficient in his abilities, the council approached him with a new mission, one that could prove quite dangerous as there had been reports of Sith movements on the planet Corellia. They wanted Rill to go and investigate the rumors and report back his findings, but given how potentially dangerous the mission was, the council also assigned another Jedi to accompany him. Just before he had a chance to ask who, he looked over his shoulder to find his old master. Though age had caught up with him, he was still one of the Order’s strongest duelists alongside Rill, and given how well the pair worked together, the council decided this had been their best option. The two of them caught up on their way to Corellia as they had not seen each other in some time, both being busy on different assignments. Rill was happy to see him. After reaching Corellia, and doing some investigating for a few days, it didn’t take long for the two experienced Jedi to catch on to the Sith’s scent and identify one of their accomplices. They followed him, making their way into the large shipyards in orbit and keeping their presence hidden in the Force. As they tailed their suspect, he lead them to a large hanger bay where they discovered a few deckhands loading a transport shuttle for two dark hooded figures. “We don’t have much time, I sense we are not alone.” One of them said, now both of them looking over in the direction where Rill and his master were hiding and watching them. “They’ve made us.” Rill whispered. One of the hooded figures looked to a deckhand and said, “Get the ship ready, we will take care of these two.” Rill and Kane stepped out from their cover and ignited their sabers, blue for his master and green for Rill. Both of the Sith now dropped their cloaks and ignited their red sabers. There were no need for words between them, both sides knew it would be a futile gesture. A fierce battle ensued between the four of them, lasting several minutes. Rill was getting the better of his opponent, the apprentice he assumed, and kept him on the defensive while his master engaged the stronger and much more skillful Sith Lord. The pair clashed swords for a while until Rill finally got an opening and struck down the Sith apprentice, slashing diagonally across his torso. As the apprentice fell to the ground, he turned and saw Kane fighting with all he had, barely matching the Sith Lord blow for blow. Kane was doing his best to keep up, but he was getting tired. The Sith Lord’s strength was more than his former master could contend with and, before Rill could make it to them, he was struck down. He set aside all of his feelings in that moment as if he had not even seen it happen and went to work on the Sith Lord, who’s fighting style was truly unique. He couldn’t pinpoint one set style; it was as though he was using several all at one in an attempt to keep his enemies off balance. Their battle was ferocious, both of them determined to best the other, but eventually Rill had been successful and got the Sith Lord off balance, slashing at his back as he flipped over him. Bringing all three corpses back to the temple, Rill went to the Jedi council and briefed them on what had transpired. He had discovered that the Sith were there to try and sabotage several Republic-built ships and rig them with explosives. Through his actions, not only did he save several thousand Republic soldiers lives, but he also brought down both of the Sith himself. Given this accomplishment, and all that he accomplished throughout his knighthood, the council deemed him worthy to be promoted to Jedi Master despite not yet having trained a Padawan. Over the next several years, Rill continued to refine his skills, both in the Force and with his blade. He is well respected in the Order as not only a top notch warrior, but a revered diplomat as well. |
