Naldorians A desperate species fighting for their right to self determination and to defend their recently liberated worlds. Name • Naldorians Type • Near human Home World • Ka Naldor (currently liberated) Influence • Is this species sedentary or widespread? Do they have large population centers on any other planets? If so, list them. Ka Naldor (Home world liberated), Ka Mardor (Capital, Secure), Ka Naldon (Liberated), Ka Malgrad (Liberated), Ka Lani (Liberated), Ka Karistan (Liberated, Ka Karak and Ka Karador (Liberated). Ethos • What are the guiding principles of this species as a whole? The Naldorians are united in the Free Naldorian States, a nation founded by the Peoples' Defender Zalin following her coup after a failed assassination attempt against her. The FNS goal was to liberate the fallen Naldorian worlds from the clutches of the Omega Consortium, a goal which was achieved following Naldorian victory in the Second Naldorian War. This has not prevented the Naldorians from being provoked into a Third Naldorian War, a conflict which was followed by the Chorus Crisis and later the Midnight War. Since final victory over the hated enemy and the fall of the Chorus, the Naldorians have begun a massive programme of reconstruction... As well as perhaps more importantly rearmament. They are determined to never be caught unprepared again, every resource and every wonder encountered will be put towards this great goal, Naldorian independence and liberty. Allies • The Republic, though allied with and a perspective member to joining it. Enemies • Omega Consortium, the bitter enemy of the Free Naldorian States. Rivals • Omega Consortium Ecology The first distinct thing about the Naldorian appearance is a unique pale yellowing to their skin. To those not used to Naldorians, this pale yellow can make them appear almost sickly. This strange pigmentation was caused by the Naldorian skin's ability to change it's pigmentation to match their background/environment. Though not perfect, this skill enable the early Naldorians to operate as effective hunters. In truth they have lost the ability, as result of toxic nature of Ka Marador from which all the Naldorians once dwelt. Though they retain the unique pale yellowing of their skin, they can no longer change their pigmentation or colour of their skins. Incidentally, the Naldorian skin also possesses a low level toxin which though it does not effect Naldorians, will make others sick should they come into contact with Naldorian skin. The low level toxin is more an irritant, than anything serious, resulting in redness and itching from those who's skin has come into contact with a Naldorian's. Naldorians are all universally short in height and possess a slim wiry build, generally they stand around four foot to four and a half feet tall. Hair colour is normally dark, with colours such a black or brown being most common. It is rare for a Naldorian to have blonde or dark grey hair. Eye colour is surprisingly different with many varying colours, including blue, green, amber, gold and silver. In addition despite their eyes being largely pupil based they have rather poor night vision but this is off set by their ability to look in the direction of the sun without being dazzled. In regards to their limbs, Naldorians possess two arms and two legs with the same number of digits as most humanoid races. The Naldorians possess a similar selection of vital organs akin to most humanoid species, though the heart is located in the centre of the ribcage rather than the left. In addition they have two spleens, enabling an Naldorian to survive terrible wounds. As a species, the Naldorians are obligate insectivores. A Naldorian can live up to two hundred years, though they reproduce quickly and reach sexual maturity at sixteen, though the legal age of sex is nineteen. A Naldorian pregnancy lasts for only six months and the children mature rapidly. Culture The Naldorian society is authoritarian, with a strong military based focus. The Free Naldorian States were born into a galaxy where they were surrounded on all sides by their enemy, isolated and alone. Faced with the extreme likelihood that they may well be attacked again, Naldorian culture and thus society as a whole was adapted to ensure that any invader on Ka Mardor or indeed any other Naldorian world would find the world difficult to take. With their planet forever threatened, Naldorian cities and structures were reconfigured. The Naldorian people could not afford any distinction or difference between their fortresses, military structures and their cities. Streets were constructed in a manner designed to confuse any invader by being arrayed in zigzag patterns to force an enemy to fight for every block. Bastions, bunkers, flak towers and other key defensive structures were place at street corners, hills or any location that possessed a commanding view or otherwise might frustrate any invaders effort. At the heart of every Naldorian city was an immense defensive fortress, with enough supplies to hold out for months if not years, even if the surrounding city had fallen to the enemy. The Naldorian people were no different to their cities, every child was taught how to fight and defend themselves from the moment they could walk. Tactical doctrine was more prized over basic literacy and every adult took part in a minimum four year term within the Naldorian military. Even the clothing of the Naldorian people retained a practicality that matched their militarised nature. "My people, this much I vow. The history of these days will be written in blood. By crushing the forces of our enemy, be seizing the weapons they sought to turn against us. We are fighting for our very existence against those who would deny us peace, refuse us our rightful place in the galaxy, then... We will unleash such a terrible vengeance upon them that generations unborn will cry out in anguish. They may shatter our bodies, but they will never break out spirit! Even now they advance upon our Ka Mardor to steal with force what they cannot claim by right! They cannot imagine what awaits them. We will smite the invaders from our skies! Though they sweep over our homes like the toxins of winter, never again will we bow before them! Never again we will we endure their oppression! Never again we will endure their tyranny! We shall fight! Fight without warning and without mercy! Fighting as one hand, one body, one heart, one soul! We shall shatter their dreams and invade their nightmares! We will drench our ancestors graves with their blood! And as our last breath tears at their lungs, as we rise anew from the ruins of our cities... They will know Ka Mardor belongs to the Naldorians!" Peoples' Defender Zalin's speech during the Omega Consortium's Invasion of Ka Mardor. The famed Free Naldorian Infantry were and are widely regarded as among some of the most disciplined fighters in the galaxy. Naldorians view every battle as a fight for their home, their nation and so fight on against the odds. Unlike many within the galaxy, the Naldorians have seen and suffered through the hardships of defeat and will do all in their power to avoid another such defeat. Across the FNS, women and men, recruited into the Army depart their homes, often never to return. They have fought on the front lines of many worlds against the might of corrupt corporations, alien hive minds and tyrant kings and were/are expected to hold the line. They have bled heavily to liberate the lost worlds and then defend them at all costs, for over three decades they have fought, for over three decades the Naldorian Army has held the line. For over three decades the Naldorian Army has stood against the enemies of the Free Naldorian States and spoken to them with words of fire. Each day across the Free Naldorian States, women and men train as soldiers, for the day may come when they too are called upon to fight and be expected to hold the line. The Naldorian Army was forced to kneel once, during the First Naldorian War. This first capitulation and the shame of it, haunts the Naldorians despite their eventual victory in the wars against the Consortium. A Naldorian will never surrender and will fight on treating each battle as a fight for his or her species' right to determine their own future. The Naldorian Army is a largely mechanised force, with powerful IFVs, APCs and main battle tanks. In support the Naldorian Army, the FNSA (Free Naldorian States Army) can call upon significant numbers of self propelled artillery as well as heavy assault walkers. In space, the FNSN (Free Naldorian States Navy) has a focus on 'submarines', with severa, different classes designed to operate as hunter killers to seek out and destroy enemy warships and trading vessels with torpedo and missiles. They operate in similar formations to the more traditional 'wet' submarine wolf packs. The Naldorians have not neglected the more traditional naval arm either, with a heavy carrier focus, but they also possess battleships, dreadnoughts, frigates, cruisers (heavy and light), destroyers and various class of escort and patrol craft. The bomber and fighter wings are divided, the bomber focus is on small fast bombers to hit targets rapidly and withdrew before a response can be organised. Fighters on the other hand focus on interceptors, seeking out and destroying enemy fighters and their bombers. The names of fleets, armies, regiments and squadrons that fought against the menace of the Omega Consortium have been enshrined in the memories of the Naldorians and the Free Naldorian States. It is rare to find a Naldorian who cannot recall the battles in which the 15th Assault Company fought in, the achievements of the First Fleet, the Heroes of the Last Stand at Fort Dawn and of the Sabers. In the Free Naldorian States there is a mandatory two child policy for every family. This high birth rate is necessary in order to maintain the Naldorian population and ensure that their military is kept up to strength. The mandatory two child policy applies to all Naldorians once they achieve adulthood, this applies to the traditional male female partners but also homosexual partners. The Free Naldorian States have worked hard to eliminate any form of religious, sexual or sexist discrimination within their society. A surprising virtue given how many mistake them for some oppressive fascist state. But to the Naldorian mindset this makes perfect sense, personal liberty is to be valued and any form of discrimination may lend to those who's ideas or skills would otherwise benefit the FNS not being able to so. This personal liberty is tolerated so long as one does not turn against the state, use it against the state or commit crimes. Whilst the supreme goal and objective of the Free Naldorian States military was to defend first Ka Marador from any further attack, this objective has been altered to include the liberated worlds and systems. Advances in technology has pushed the limits of Naldorian expansion and the devastation of several conflicts has left a hunger for raw materials and resources. Already reconstruction efforts are underway across their territory, along with substantial rearmament. As the Naldorians march towards their uncertain future in the galaxy, they are united in their determination to never be caught unprepared again. Every wonder encountered will be exploited, every resource utilised, every hostile over come and if any seek to oppress the Naldorian people then the only words they will receive will be of fire and sword. The Naldorian right to self determination will not be denied by an alien race or hostile power, never again shall they be made to kneel, forced to watch as their children starve... "I as a citizen of Free Naldorian States, joining the ranks of it's Armed Forces do solemnly swear that I will serve my nation faithfully and conscientiously and to my best ability, even at the cost of my life. Seek to pursue it's edification and advantage, to be obedient to the law, to obey the orders of the Peoples' Defender and of the Officer placed above me. I will stand firm in defending the rights and equality of the Naldorian People and to defend the honour, dignity and pride of the Free Naldorian States." Naldorian Oath of Enlistment. History "My people, sons and daughters of Naldorians for many years we have been a broken nation, shunned, oppressed and conquered by those we sought to escape! Three decades ago I asked for time, time which was granted by you, you the strength of my arms, the forgers of our dream. Our forefathers embarked on the greatest exodus in the history of the galaxy, an exodus for freedom. Ka Mardor became that freedom! Our world changed our bodies, at first she weakened us, but in fact we were growing stronger. In the time you have granted me I have rebuilt our nation! I have rebuilt our strength! And I have rebuilt our pride! Our enemies at home have been reeducated, we have granted them new insights into our noble and just cause. On this day, we stand united once more! On this day those who seek to oppress us will hear our voice! On this glorious day we shall act as one and be ignored no more! Liberators of Ka Naldor now is our time!" Thalia Zalin, Peoples' Defender of the Free Naldorian States speech given to the Naldorian forces deployed in the Liberation of Ka Naldor. Brief History Though much of the Naldorian history has been lost either due to the effects of time, destroyed as a result of the First or Second Naldorian wars, or hidden by state censorship, what little is known is cherished. The Naldorian civilisation first arose on the planet Ka Naldor, where after advancing comparatively rapidly through various technological states, they were embroiled in a series of bitter conflicts. Eventually this resulted in a low level nuclear exchange between countries. In this war's aftermath the surviving nations on Ka Naldor united under a single banner in an attempt to secure their future and harvest new resources from the stars. This led to the colonisation of their home system, but also a nearby system where the world of Ka Marador was located. Though hostile this planet proved to be rich in resources and rapidly became a source of fuel and wealth of the Naldorians. The arrival of the Omega Consortium at first was greeted with caution, before trade was established and the two in the early days became valued partners. Yet as the Naldorians slowly grew in power and rival claims to worlds and resources became a concern for the OC, tensions only grew as the Consortium withdrew rights and cancelled trade agreements it had given to the Naldorians. At the same time it began to call up it's considerable military might should a conflict prove necessary. Finding themselves choked under the ever growing more unacceptable demands of the Consortium, the Naldorians were forced declared war, plunging both nations into the First Naldorian War. This war was short, lasting only a year but the Naldorians were soundly defeated by the vastly superior Omega Consortium. Forced to sign a series of humiliating treaties, the Naldorians were exiled from most of their colonies and their home world itself. Treaty of Eternal Peace The Treaty of Eternal Peace or as it is more commonly known by the Naldorians as the False Treaty, The Oppressive Paper or the Forced Treaty was the seventy page document the Naldorians were forced to sign after their defeat in the First Naldorian War by the Omega Consortium. It's documents included many clauses, restrictions and limitations to be imposed upon the Naldorian population, included reparations both in Credits and the Nali (the Naldorian currency), but also material goods and resources. The Naldorians were also forced to accept the War Guilt cause for their 'unwarranted act of intolerable aggression.' Limitations were imposed on what the Naldorians could trade for, as well as their former colonies and homeworlds being renamed as they were forfeit as part of the reparations. This harsh treaty was designed to strip the Naldorians of the funding necessary to fund another war, but nowhere did it limit the size of the Naldorian military. Such a slip may seem foolish from hindsight, but at the time the Omega Consortium possessed a considerable technological superiority over the Naldorians so their armed forces were not seen as a threat. Though to the Naldorians, these demands were utterly unacceptable, yet the Consortium was more than prepared to continue the war if the Naldorians refused. Thus with no choice but to sign the Treaty, the Naldorians did but viewed it as little more than a criminal act on the part of the OC. They still claimed their lost colonies and home world, with many especially those exiled to Ka Marador and it's military swearing vengeance against the Omega Consortium. The Naldorian Wars Summary Across the course of galactic history, great and terrible conflicts have been fought that promised to be the war to end all wars. Yet every victory and ever promise of peace in our time, has only ever brought humiliation, hardship, grief and bitter resentment to the defeated nations. So it was again in the Naldorian year 2211 (3554 BBY) when the shattered remnants of the Naldorian government was forced off of their Eden homeworld of Ka Naldor by the Omega Consortium in the aftermath of the First Naldorian War. Forced to sign a humiliating Treaty of Eternal Peace, the Naldorians were stripped of most of their colonies, as well as their military and economy being crippled and shackled. They were exiled to the brutal planet of Ka Mardor. From the ashes however of this bitter defeat, there arose dreams of a new order and the Naldorian population rallied around the charismatic and noble Peoples' Defender Thalia Zalin. She preached a vision of a new unbreakable nation that captivated billions. Through her heroic vision, the last vestiges of the old regime were swept away and in it's placed that the Naldorian people marched united together under the banners of the Free Naldorian States. At the center of this new nation was an old idea that the Naldorians had been robbed of the opportunity to prosper from their own labor and greatest successes. Whilst this was exaggerated and simplified for the benefit of state misinformation campaigns, the rhetoric and beliefs did however have a firm basis in history. One which stretched back to the earliest days of Naldorian colonization efforts. The First Naldorian War In 2099 (3437 BBY), with Naldorian nations still reeling from a low level nuclear war and in terrible need of sustainable resources, Ka Naldor's most powerful nation states united to for the Global Democratic Initiative. Together they began a massive campaign to colonise the Naldorian system as well as extrasolar star systems. In 2111 (3449 BBY) a fleet of six colonial vessels arrived in the nearby system of Ka Mar, seeking out a world believed to be suitable for Naldorian life. Tragedy struck when the world was revealed to be incredibly hostile to Naldorian life, with toxic gas clouds and with most of it's fauna and flora being carnivorous, venomous, poisonous or all three. Despite the difficulties in colonising the world Ka Mardor, the Naldorians began to establish themselves heavily on the world and in the system as a whole. With the resources of Ka Mardor and the prosperity of Ka Naldor, the Naldorians were well on their way to becoming a prosperous interstellar nation. Yet in 2168 (3506 BBY) the GDI encountered ships belonging to the powerful corporation of the Omega Consortium, a vast galactic spanning corporation. After initial fears of hostility were overcome, the young Naldorian nation allied itself with the OC and pair entered a prosperous trade agreement. As both GDI and OC established new colonies, the flow of ships and trade through Ka Mardor and Ka Naldor brought with them enormous wealth and opportunities for the Naldorian people. Yet as the Naldorians continued to expand, their growing power and wealth raised concerned within the OC leadership, even though the GDI were still an allied nation. Slowly they drew up plans to combat the perceived threat of the Naldorians to their future profits. Tensions slowly grew as the Consortium rescinded various rights and ended trade agreements it had formed with the Naldorians, whilst at the same time it began to summon it's military might should an aggressive solution become necessary. With their future prosperity strangled under the ever increasing weight of Omega's demands, the Naldorians officially declared war in 2210(3554 BBY). Despite the immense numerical advantage of the GDI Army, their forces were at best equipped with outdated or inferior weapons, while in space their hastily converted merchant and civilian vessels were no match for the OC dedicated warships. The Fall of Ka Naldor, First Naldorian War. (Above) (Below) The heaviest fighting was over within a year, though acts of terrorism and small skirmishes remained constant. In an attempt to quell the fighting and thus prevent a costly occupation, the OC annexed Ka Naldor as well as six other minor Naldorian colonies. They however allowed the GDI to retain control over Ka Mardor, though it was subjected to heavy blockades and restrictions until diplomatic relations could be restored. A worse insult was to be dealt to the Naldorians as their worlds were stripped of their Naldorian names, renamed by the Consortium, with Ka Naldor becoming Consortia. Billions of Naldorians were evicted from their worlds and taken to Ka Mardor in the ensuing years, faced with a bleak existence rife with illness, starvation, and hardship. The Naldorians helped along by basic genetic conditioning and a variety of treatments and implants, the Naldorian population grew more resilient to it's environment with a privileged few even capable of surviving without the use of masks while outdoors. While the situation slowly improved for the population, the long-term outlook of the nation remained grim with a distinct possibility of collapse. Stifled and crushed under the strict conditions imposed by Omega, the singular and remarkable figure of Peoples' Defender Thalia Zalin rose to prominence. A master orator, Zalin was the first to give voice to what later became the principal keystone of Naldorian philosophy, that the Naldorians had been strengthened by their environment and thus transformed into a superior species. After a failed attempt on her life, Zalin rallied her popular support and with military aid overthrew the last remains of the GDI in 2212 (3556 BBY). Rebranded as the self-proclaimed Peoples' Defender of Ka Mardor, Zalin consolidated her position as the supreme leader and enacted a series of transformative political, social and economic polices. The Free Naldorian States were born. The FNS government was predominantly authoritarian with political power residing firmly in the office of the Peoples' Defender. The Chamber of Command served as the Defender's cabinet of advisers with military and industrial interests disproportionately represented, yet completely subservient to the interests of the state. These fascist elements permeated every aspect of society, with ultra-nationalism, militarism, and total commitment to the nation intertwined with Naldorian culture until they had become one in the same. Particular attention was given by the propaganda department to the filtration masks and other breathing apparatus used by FNS citizens. Through their efforts they transformed them from symbols of weakness and shame to those of pride. This new ideology was represented by the Naldorian Eagle, a golden bird imposed over a white background, symbolizing the highest virtues of duty, obedience, and loyalty. Even the old languages of the Naldorians as well as galactic basic, proclaimed outmoded by the Peoples' Defender, were replaced with a new written language, Mardorian. This new language was designed to dissuade alternative thinking by eliminating certain words and concepts. It was under the Free Naldorian States that they classified their history under their own year system rather than following in the footsteps of other galactic powers. Free Naldorian States forces during the defence of Ka Mardor The government's military first policy had inflicted substantial adversity upon the Naldorian people, yet by 2241 (3585 BBY) the rearmament programmes had been a stunning success. Under Peoples' Defender Zalin's direction the FNS had rebuilt the Naldorian military in near total secrecy, without the Omega Consortium becoming overly suspicious. This was in part due to the belief that the Naldorians could never again rise to become even a minor threat, let alone a major one. If they had managed to rebuild their military, it did not matter to them since their forces were believed to be incapable of successfully prosecuting any war. This belief that the Naldorians were no longer a concern would prove to be costly for the Consortium... The Second Naldorian War In 2242 (3586 BBY), the Free Naldorian States launched a massive surprise invasion to liberate Ka Naldor and reclaim their lost worlds. The early stages of the invasion were a stunning success, with Naldorian forces destroying OC ships in planetary orbit of Ka Naldor, capturing the orbital defence grid and liberating much of the world in just twenty four hours. Simultaneously, the Naldorian forces struck at their other former colonies, achieving similar successes. Yet the surprise of the Naldorian attack was a finite resource and a strong and sudden OC counter attack, combined with the actions of the war criminal Admiral Ral routed the Naldorian fleet at Ka Naldor and paved the way for an invasion of Ka Mardor itself. In 2243 (3587 BBY), 13 OC battle groups arrived in orbit over Ka Mardor. In spite of their immense technological superiority and complete orbital blockade, the invasion fleet began to sustain heavy losses due to previously undetected Naldorian orbital defence batteries located on the world itself. Fierce Naldorian resistance further crippled the invaders efforts and a sudden counter attack by Naldorian forces succeeded in mortally wounding Ral, who in his last moments crashed his flagship onto the Naldorian capital of Frigrad. Civilian casualties as a result of this criminal act were immense and the impact destroyed or disabled Naldorian defences around the capital. With a way into Frigrad finally achieved, OC forces launched a bold offensive with the intention of capturing the Peoples' Defender and ending the war. Fighting waged all the way to the Naldorian State House, but after capturing the Peoples' Defender Consortium forces instead chose to execute her. In death, she was transformed into a martyr and the arrival of Naldorian warships kept hidden in reserve destroyed any hopes of a sudden victory. Six months after the death of Zalin, the OC forces trapped on Ka Mardor surrendered and a ceasefire organised under the supervision of the Republic and their Jedi allies took effect. The Second Naldorian War was at an end. Naldorian Shrike Assault Transports during the Battle for Ka Mardor The Death of Hero The death of Zalin, or more accurately known the murder of Zalin rocked the Naldorians to their core. Indeed a vast monument has been constructed, to serve as a memorial to not only their fallen leader, but the millions of Naldorians killed in the fighting, with every surface of the memorial engraved with the name of someone killed by the Omega Consortium. "Six months ago, our enemies murdered a great and noble woman, Peoples' Defender Zalin, our nation's mother and founder! Today we remember the hope she gave us! The purpose she gave us! The vision she gave us! A vision in which the Naldorians reclaim their rightful place in this galaxy. Decades from now, you will tell your grandchildren of this day! The day in which her vision became a reality!" General Sucvo, Supreme Naldorian Army Commander speech to the assembled troops at the unveiling of the Defender's Memorial. The death of Zalin however has not caused major instability within the regime, though debate wages over as to who might rise to become the next Peoples' Defender. The Naldorians are united by the continuing presence of their most hated enemy as well as the fact that though a ceasefire was signed... No peace agreements have been negotiated with either side. The Third Naldorian War The Third Naldorian War began six months after the cessation of hostilities between the Free Naldorian States and the Omega Consortium. Though Republic and Jedi mediators attempted to negotiate a lasting peace treaty, the FNS intercepted a transmission about a planned offensive against the recently liberated Naldorian worlds. Faced with the prospect of an imminent attack, the Naldorians launched their own surprise attack against Shangra. Three waves of Naldorian fighters and bombers crippled the fleet in orbit and destroyed ships stationed on the world itself. This attack was supported by the arrival of two Naldorian fleets who brushed aside the scattered ships facing them and proceeded to bombard the capital of Shangra into dust. Though the surprise attack never the less decapitated the Omega Consortium and crippled it's capacity to resist, the sudden and shocking aggression displayed by the Free Naldorian States was widely condemned by the galactic community. But for the Naldorians their time of vengeance had finally arrived. The Free Naldorian States have advanced rapidly in this new offensive, overrunning Consortium held worlds and engaging their remaining ships where possible. The Chorus Crisis In the Naldorian year 2244 (3588 BBY), when final victory seemed inevitable and all the suffering of the Naldorian people would finally be avenged, a new enemy suddenly and unexpectedly arrived on the scene. The Archeri Chorus. The invading Chorus fleets brushed aside the scattered and overextended Naldorians forces and overwhelmed Ka Lani and Ka Karador. A desperate counter attack launched by the Third Naldorian fleet succeeded in driving off Chorus forces long enough to evacuate Karador's population. Never the less the Naldorians suffered horrendous losses, with millions dying in a desperate attempt to hold the line. After just four weeks of fighting two colony worlds had fallen and two others were under siege. In desperation the Naldorians commenced the Freedom Programme on Ka Mardor, it's purpose to serve as a fortified safe zone for refugees fleeing from the Chorus attack and provide an eventually pool of manpower and resources to take back lost territory. With surprisingly speed the Naldorian military and industrial complex stepped up to meet the demands of a true total war. Yet in spite of the immense efforts and sacrifice, the situation remained extremely perilous for the FNS. As Naldorian forces everywhere were forced into retreat or simply were annihilated, it seemed that the Free Naldorian States were doomed to extermination. Not since the First Naldorian War had they known such a dark day, yet in this desperate hour an eleventh hour agreement was forged. The Consortium and the Free Naldorian States allied together in the face of impossible odds. Uniting the remains of their naval forces for one last battle, a final throw of the dice one which would decide the fate of both their nations. This battle would become known as the Battle of Ka Naldor. Battle of Ka Naldor Ka Naldor was the most strategic world within the Free Naldorian States, a vital crossroads to hold to reinforce other worlds, a communicate centre, supply hub, in addition to it's political and morale value. Above all else Ka Naldor must be held. On the world itself the Naldorians mustered the fourth, third and sixth armies, combined with the second Consortium army. In orbit the remains of the fifth Naldorian fleet, stood along side the first fleet and third fleet, with the tattered remains of the Consortium naval arm which barely mustered a single battlegroup. The naval battle for Ka Naldor was a brutal engagement with Naldorian and Consortium ships fighting heroically to hold the numerically superior force away from the world. Though they fought hard, they were unable to prevent the alien invasion and Ka Naldor was heavily bombarded from orbit before ground invasion forces began to land. The ground fight was no less brutal than the one in orbit, with no quarter given or taken by either side. Yet despite the heroics of soldiers from both allied forces, the tide of battle began to turn against them. It would have meant final defeat for the Naldorians and the Consortium yet events further within the galaxy in the war against the Chorus saved the Free Naldorian States and the Consortium from total defeat. Unexpectedly and to the Naldorians seemingly without warning the Chorus forces began to retreat and attempt to withdraw from the system. Though stunned, the allies counter attacked and drove the Chorus from Ka Naldor itself and later the occupied Naldorian and Consortium worlds. The war was finally over. For any other nation, this might have been a moment where two enemies may of discovered that they could coexist, could solve problems... Could finally live in peace. It was not to be. There was only the war... The Midnight War In the aftermath of the Chorus Crisis, the Naldorian and Consortium forces returned to their own bitter battle as if the crisis never occurred. Though the Midnight War would finally end in the Naldorian year 2245 (3589 BBY), it would not be as a result of Free Naldorian State forces defeating their ancient enemy outright. Rather, the Omega Consortium collapsed from economic damage inflicted throughout the conflicts. At last, the Consortium was finally defeated. The war was over, Ka Naldor stood free and the horrors of the First Naldorian War had finally been avenged. An era of terror, of suffering, of conflict had finally come to an end. The Naldorian under the Free Naldorian State rallied themselves for the hardships to come, they would celebrate their victory over the hated Consortium, mourn their honoured dead then... Then they would rebuild, in the hopes that their children, or grandchildren might manage to live in peace and be free. Aftermath Driven to war by the Consortium and soundly defeated in the First Naldorian War, the Naldorians surrounded on all sides by enemies, united in desperation under a regime like none ever seen before in their history. The government that would become the Free Naldorian State was not forged with any idealistic principles, founded on utopian ideas or for the benefit of the few at the cost of the many, but on the overriding necessity that drastic measures be taken in order to ensure the survival of the Naldorian civilisation and to defend their right to self determination. The steps taken to ensure this were often harsh and at times cruel, but after nearly three and a half decades of struggle, of combat, of fighting against oppression, none could deny that the Free Naldorian State had fulfilled it's oldest promise. Few civilisations in the galaxy could truly understand what drove the Naldorians relentlessly towards vengeance or why they had taken up such a devout sense of nationalism, such an immense military industrial complex and what was seen to be a tyrannical government. The Free Naldorian States found barely any allies as fought for their right to self determination. When in the days before the Third Naldorian War was officially declared in 2244 (3588 BBY), the Naldorians unleashed their surprise assault on Shangra, much of the galaxy's civilian population reacted with horror. Mass protests at Naldorian hostility and indiscriminate targeting of a city and it's civilian population were seen across the galaxy, with condemnation coming from many governments. But when the Chorus fleets invaded Naldorian territory, the galaxy saw the selfless heroism of Naldorian soldiers who at times launched suicidal counter attacks in the bid to rescue civilian populations, be they Naldorian or alien alike. Though the defeat of the Chorus was due to efforts of the Republic and Sith alliance, the Naldorians united with their bitter enemy in the darkest of days to attempt to halt the invasion. Losses were immense during the Chorus Crisis, with even Ka Naldor itself on the verge of falling till the victory of Republic and Sith forces resulted in their retreat and the Free Naldlorian States being saved. However though voices in the galaxy hoped that the temporary alliance of FNS and Consortium forces might lead to peace, the war resumed almost immediately, finally ending in 2245 (3589 BBY) when the Consortium finally collapsed. Victorious, the Free Naldorian States mourned their losses, before commencing an immense reconstruction project, promising to rebuild everything which had been destroyed. With the Consortium gone, worlds and systems formerly under it's sway found themselves suddenly vulnerable to the attentions of rivals, pirates and hostile powers. For the first time since it's existence, the Free Naldorian States found themselves looked to for leadership, guidance and with respect. On worlds rocked by corrupt regimes, devastated by conflicts or frozen by instability, Naldorian ideals were looked to and valued just as much as Naldorian weapons. On former Consortium worlds, such as Lang Ti, Diang Tri and Oppurti held referendums to allow for Naldorian aid and for Naldorian forces to provide protection whilst they established governing bodies of their own. In 2246 (3590 BBY), the Free Naldorian States held an election for the first time in it's history and the daughter of Zalin, the famous Major Hali Zalin was unanimously elected to the position of Peoples' Defender, becoming the second Peoples' Defender of the Free Naldorian States. She promised to continue the reconstruction efforts, to defend the Naldorian people and to rearm the military so that they should be able to defend not only themselves but also others.
