Appearance Height and Weight • 6ft 5in (198cm), 225lbs (102kgs) Overall Looks • Thalyn stands Six foot Five inches tall with a fairly strong build, bright green eyes and a often can be seen with a small Mowhawk. Clothing wise he can be seen as some Trianii do, in absolutely nothing whilst in private, in practical clothes when out and about from street clothes to his Armour, or to the rare Jedi Robes when he has to be official or at the temple, sometimes mixing Armour and Robes. He wears little in the way of Jewellery that is often seen, aside from maybe a gold or silver ring. Rarely will he wear formal clothing and if he does, it is only mission specific as that kind of extravagance rubs him the wrong way. Personality Profile Thalyn is more or less a man of layers, a bit of a Rebel and an unorthodox sort of Jedi and yet someone who has managed to find a way to follow many of the basic core tenets of the Code without in a round-a-bout manner that would upset some of the more traditionally orthodox Jedi. He's extremely independent, self reliant and very self governing and motivating. He believes that to achieve peace with oneself, that you should understand your emotions, find constructive and healthy ways to express them or focus them rather than repress or hold back and create an even worse problem down the road. He holds a similar view to that of old Jolee Bindo when it comes to certain things. Thalyn for all his independence comes with a rather cold or.. icy aspect. Independence can breed a certain level of isolationism which helps keep the risk of attachments at bay. Of course that doesn't mean he has friends or even a best friend, but.. that is likely as close as most will get. Beneath that rough exterior is a man who can be compassionate, caring and genuinely enpathetic towards others that he is willing to let close. Thalyn loves to hunt, to fight, the thrill and adrenaline of it all despite his attempts at reigning it in and keeping that balance, call it a guilty pleasure that occasionally gets the better of him. Overall History • Thalyn grew up like most, if not all Jedi. Taken from his home as a youngster, barely three years old when his parents found the order and gave him over. Better that than his Force Sensitivity be discovered by the Sith after all. Thalyn's life prior to the Order as far as he remembers was pretty chill and comfortable, simple and not one bound in extremes of wealth or poverty. Growing up in the order was hard at first and there was just a tiny hint of resentment from lack of understanding to both the order and his parents for taking him away from his home and family. He did make friends amongst the order, especially within his own Initiates Clan, Clan Wolf. The Jedi initiate trials were fairly simple, first was reciting the Jedi Code, that was easy. The second trial was an application of basic Lightsaber technique, the final trial was fairly simple in aiding another citizen. He entered into the Apprentice tournament wherein the Knights and Masters would come every year to observe and see which of the would be initiates catch their attention. Thalyn spent weeks training, honing his skills for the tournament that would happen. When he wasn't training though he was often seen somewhere in the Temple Gardens, likely playing on his Datapad with some game or otherwise. The trials were quite intense for Thalyn to participate in, being paired against other would be hopefuls in lightsaber duels in organised arenas. Thalyn performed amicably well, showing off his lightsaber and tutaminus technique fairly well. During the final round of the tournament, Thalyn and his surviving competitors were fighting it out amongst the waterfalls and gardens when one of them took a rough tumble and a fall. Without thinking, Thalyn ran across a nearby rock face and leapt out to catch the student as she fell and twisted so that he would take the brunt of the impact when they landed on the rocky surface down below. He had landed hard on his back, both he and the other initiate were rushed off to the medical wing. The current round did continue on though but neither Initiate were excluded. Thalyn spent two weeks in the medical ward with broken bones whilst the other initiate spent only a few days, as thankfully her injuries were not as severe. Whilst recovering, Thalyn was approached by Knight Keryam Trin'Dali whom at the time was a newly minted Sentinel and Knight, chose to take Thalyn on as his first Padawan. After some questioning on why he did what he did and asking what could have been done instead to avoid being injured but still managing to save the other initiate. After recovery and making the Padawanship official with the Council, Thalyn and Keryam went out into the Galaxy to begin the lessons and learning. Very quickly both of them found they got along like a house on fire which helped them in the long run. Keryam taught Thalyn as a sentinel, to blend in with the galaxy around them and learn to walk amongst its people as one of them, not just as a Jedi. They built up a good and proper cover identity During this time he met a young Bothan by the name of Kai, a young teen who was into the business of fencing all kinds of 'borrowed' or 'scavenged' goods. They became good friends with a little work. As Kerym did encourage Thalyn to make his own connections in the Galaxy. Thalyn's Jedi trials would come up around the age of 19 with the construction of his lightsaber, a trip to Ilum wherein he constructed his first Lightsaber, with the Silver-Green Viridian Crystal. His trial of skill was designed to test a variety of skills, beyond just Lightsaber technique. It was a combination test of Agility, parkour, avoidance and more. Requiring use of the Force, Lightsaber and body to complete the task. The Trial of Courage and Flesh both came at the same time, as originally it was just the Trial of Courage. The mission was simple in that he had to retrieve an informant from the grasp of a small criminal group. It became something completely different, in that Thalyn was sent to pick up his friend Kai, whom had the information they sought however the Sith were also interested in this information as well. What ensued was a race against time as Thalyn managed to pull off the rescue, buying off some of the more open minded members and wrecking some of the leadership. Unfortunately the Sith Acolyte whom had come out to retrieve or kill the informant encountered Thalyn and the two fought in the lower parts of the city. It was an intense duel with Thalyn focusing on the defensive aspects of Soresu to the Acolyte's more aggressive Djem So. However the Acolyte got a temporary upperhand when he distracted Thalyn by targeting Kai, Thalyn was disarmed temporarily but managed to catch what would have been a killing strike from the Acolyte with a dangerous application of his Tutaminus talent and his hands. Kicking the man back, Thalyn took up his blade and unleashed Juyo on the Acolyte and killed him. Kai described what he saw as a weird, green wall of fire and it was quite intimidating but that mission cemented their friendship and Thalyn was considered to pass his Trials of Courage and Flesh. The trial of Spirit is something that Thalyn has never shared, needless to say it was a bit of a harrowing experience that he has kept to himself due to the extraordinarily personal nature to it. After graduating to Knighthood Thalyn and Keryam went their separate ways as Master and former Apprentice normally do. With Thalyn taking some time to consider where he wanted to go, how he wanted to follow The Will of the Force as well as serve the Order to the best of his ability. They'd already built up something prior during his Apprenticeship and Thalyn, a more combative and aggressive sort of Sentinel, over the more subtle and deceptive sorts. Keeping that in mind whilst he took up a mission from the Council, Thalyn planned out altering his cover Identity as needed, going from Freighter crew to full on Amateur Bounty Hunter. Having access to such would help him be independent and very much self reliant, without needing to constantly call on the Order to supply his needs and be more of a burden. Taking some credits that had been stashed for emergencies and bought a dirt cheap D-5 Mantis Patrol Craft that had seen better days for sure and got to work. Between taking missions assigned by the Jedi Order and doing tasks self assigned, hunting criminals considered extremely dangerous, finding the occasional missing person and working anti-piracy/banditry with local authorities or working ahead of them without their knowledge. A year into knighthood, Thalyn took on an apprentice of his own, a cheerful Darius Farneast whom had impressed the Trianii well with his skills during the initiation trials. They built a strong Master/Apprentice bond fairly quickly, but that would come crashing down just as fast. They were assigned to a Mission by the council where things went well, an investigation into a rather violent gang on Corellia which had been eluding the CorSec Authorities for some time. What should have been a difficult but clean mission went south, as the gang had members of CorSec in their pocket and found out a Jedi was helping in bringing them down. That was cut short when the Cor-Sec outpost was bombed and both Jedi and Padawan were caught in the explosion. Thalyn spent two weeks in the medical ward but his Padawan unfortunately did not make it. Thalyn was upset by the loss of his student and had returned to Coruscant as soon as he was able to as other Jedi had arrived to handle the case whilst he was out of it. A brief investigation on Thalyn and the incident revealed he was not at fault. Thalyn chose to mourn the loss of his student in his own way and doing the typical cat thing when something happens they dislike, vanished into the Galaxy at large. He headed into Sith Space, slipping into the Tingle Arm and Trianii space as he followed something he wasn't quite sure what it was. Thalyn arrived at what was his home world and like a tourist he wandered lost before turning into one of the temples wherein the Trianii would oversee their religious practices as a part of the Jedi Code came to mind here, The jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training. During his time spent in the Tingle Arm, Thalyn helped out the Trianii Rangers with a not so small pirate issue that they were having. In the process he lost the old patrol craft to a rather aggressive, invasive entry into the Pirate base. Post pirate raid he acquired a vessel to replace the one lost, returned to the Order for a bit to be given an overhaul and put through connections with the SIS to 'expunge' any issues attached, it was assigned to him for the forseeable future. Thalyn returned to the Galaxy proper and re-established contact with the Order, informing them he had found his center and was ready for assignment. Thalyn took up Anti-Piracy duties more intently, hunting criminals and got back into the run of his work in between tasks and missions assigned to him. Around 22 years of age during one of his stops at the Temple, Thalyn met with a young Padawan in the Room of a Thousand Fountains. Young Gatal had lost his Master and was reeling from the loss. They talked for a few hours before Thalyn invited him along somewhere to 'hang out' as it were. Between working on a ship, other technical things and some simple, in the moment lessons whilst letting Gatal talk or express himself as he wished. They got along well and Thalyn offered to take the Padawan on as his apprentice, making it well known his teaching methods would be different and that they would be unorthodox. The council approved and the two were officially Master and Apprentice. It was noted that the two did work well together and it seemed that any old wounds that may have existed were mended over time, with the duo going on various missions or disappearing for weeks or more at a time. His Padawan would eventually pass his trials and become a Knight, with Thalyn after being promoted to Jedi Master, having been deemed worthy of the rank despite the challenges and hardships he has been through. Thalyn knows that eventually he will be called away from his activities as a Sentinel and Hunter to fulfill other duties within the Temple. Something which he will be very much unsure of how he would handle. Recently Thalyn has became aware of a second child of his, the result of a one night stand during an undercover assignment with the SIS. investigating the once functional Red Thrantra Criminal Organisation based out of Ralltiir. An impressive group that worked its way through the financial institutions based out of that world and were responsible for smuggling spice and illicit weapons into the core worlds. The Mother was only nominally involved with the organisation as an employee at one of their more public facilities. A fair bit of liquor and the strange effect Zeltrons had when it came to festivities with those pheremones and strange empathic trick they had really didn't help matters. Thalyn maintains as he has always done; careful observation for Force Sensitivity and keeping tabs on them from quite the distance. |
