Last but not least, a red crytstal-like pendant tied with some string to make a necklace given to him by his father. Appearance Face Claim • Twenty-Fifth Baam - Tower of God Overall Looks • Laika would be candidate for most boring facial features of the year if it were not for his near radiating amber eyes, and his innocent face. Standing at almost 5'10" he's not much in height either, however his slim yet muscular build lends him a form of deceitful strength. Though his skin is normally a lighter tone, if he spends even a brief amount of time in the sun, he slowly becomes quite tan, rarely getting anything close to a sunburn. His dark chestnut hair flows in front of his face in a nice medium length, however he has been known to grow out his hair to a length most would call impossible in short amounts of time. His clothing consists of many different styles. Currently he is sporting a thin and durable dark grey jacket with grey pants and a grey collared vest. This is just for his newfound Space adventure, and when on his home planet, he prefers wearing his favorite of a blue short sleeve, white undershirt, and shorts. Personality Profile Although technically a part of the Royal family, Laika was the third born of the Grand King, and as such was given a greater amount of freedom in his life than his two elder siblings. This allowed for him to not quite obtain the royal demeanor and instead, act quite rash and with little extravagance. His words and ways with people were always blunt, even with his added sarcasm and tendency to spin stories as he spoke. This tendency grew from the tales his Mother would tell. Of the great number of stars, and how each was unique, just as he and every other living being was. Though his tutors and siblings all attempted to let him know he was something special being a child of the Grand King, he never truly felt that way, and always acted on his own intentions. Never quite worrying what others would think or how it would "impact" the Royal family's image. The common folk from street thug to business owner knew of him, and grew to respect his seemingly whimsical nature. Most grew to care for his happy-go-lucky smile and charm, and it could be said he was a "fan" favorite of the royal family. A fact he always enjoyed to tease his elder brother about, someone who was quite eager to prove himself to both his Father and the people they ruled. Even so, he and his siblings remained quite good friends, often relying in eachother in times of need. His Father, while annoyed by his third son's denial of most traditions, always had a smile when Laika was around. As though he was reminded of an innocence. Never truly feeling like he owed anyone anything, or that they owed something unto him, Laika simply lived his life. Yearning to reach into the stars and one day travel to a new, beautiful place. Or at the very least, pave a way for the next who could. Happy to help even if he tried to seem reluctant, and just happy to be alive the boy would always move forward through hard times with an evenharder head. Mysticism his Master granted with knowledge of the Force was another object driving him ever forward. Though his knowledge shallow, Laika will always hear his masters words... "Trust in the force, it shall guide you." Background Father • Tsawak Flamel Oktuna, 75, Grand King of Qorit Mother • Zasha Evergreen, 42, Third Crown of the King Siblings • Elder Half Brother - Yun Vi Oktuna, 34, Heir apparent of Castle Qo Elder Half Sister - Tarra Vi Oktuna, 29, Technical Advisor to the Grand King Other Important Connections • Master - Rei'N Kaior, Deceased, Jedi Knight of the Republic Overall History • Laika grew up on Qorit as the third child of the Grand King, the planetary Monarch, who rules over the smaller democratically elected leaders of city-state territories on Qorit. Located in the capital city of Shvi'Oktuna, Laika ' mother, and all the other mothers of the Grand Kings children lived. While not in the palace, they had their own life, observed and dictated by the king. Each child once born is put through rigorous education, physical training, and mental conditioning. Once at the age of 10 they are let loose in the world, meant to prove themselves to the King, and in turn, gaining the approval from him to be the successor of his title. As the youngest, and third child, it seemed Laika was in for a much more laid back life, as his father was expected to choose his eldest as his successor. This suited him just fine, as instead of choosing strategy and military heavy concepts, Laika preferred the simplicity of life. Spending his time learning the history and literature of his world, the difference between cultures. He spend much of his time traveling and staring up at the stars, hoping one day to be chosen to be one of the lucky people to fly past their planets skies into space. While his mother was a lovely woman, it seemed more and more apparent as he grew older, that she had hoped he would vie with his elder brother and sister for his fathers position. Even with his disinterest it seemed his father had taken a special kind of liking to him, them having a more personal relationship. Whenever Laika felt lost he would seek his fathers advice, and more often than not, his father would give it. That was until a star fell from the sky. While walking through the outer forests of Shvi'Oktuna, the two moons full, Laika could see lights popping in and out high above. Attempting to get the clearest sight he could, Laika climbed the tallest tree he could. With two bursts of color, and one quick swipe the falling star made it's way through the sky and multiple trees before skipping past Laika and landing in an open field surrounded by forest. Discovering it was not a star, but a starcraft, he was incredibly surprised. Even moreso to find an alien being inside. Freeing him from the craft, the being explained he was Master Rei'n Kaior, Jedi of the Republic. While, this made no sense to him, he was happy to listen to the stories this being told. After this even Laika seemed disinterested in the politics and matters in his own world even moreso than before. Preferring to listen to Master Kaior praddle on about the Force, the ways of the galaxy, and the Jedi. Mystical wizards who travelled the galaxy? He was overjoyed, to think his days dreaming of traveling space would land him here, learning from a man who's traveled not just to moons, but to entire other planets with their own civilizations. It was beyond what he could ever dream. It didn't take long for the Jedi to settle in, and after observing the culture of the world he finally let Laika bring him to his father. Laika was overjoyed at the thought, and so, they went to the castle and Laika requested a private audience with his father. At first Laika could tell his father was slightly curious what this tall cloaked being beside his youngest son was, and after Master Kaior uncloaked himself his father stood and looked quite confused. Introducing himself as a lost traveller, Master Kaior explained he had crash landed after a chase with a rival faction, and had hoped the Grand King would be able to assist him in leaving. After attentively listening, the Grand King motioned for Laika and Kaior to follow him into his private chambers. After discussing with his father what happened the Grand King agreed to give the man shelter, and help him rebuild his ship if he would tell him more about the universe at large. So he agreed. After the meeting Laika was disappointed to hear his new friend was going to be leaving, and promptly told him he wanted to learn more about the galaxy. Smiling down at the boy he said he would teach him everything he could. For the next few years nearly every day, Laika was with The Master Jedi being taught everything from the mechanics of a starship, to the intricacies of the force, its basic nature and all that it encompasses. Over time it seemed he had become sort of a apprentice to the Jedi. Much to the chagrin of his mother, and jealousy of his sister who wiuld tease him nonstop about the "magic" of the force. She helped quite a bit to fix up the nearly scrapped starfighter. Of course it was a project secret to most of the world only known to the royal family and a select few others. However then Master Kaior disappeared. No one had any idea on what happened, he was teaching Laika one night and told the young teen he had to leave to meet with someone important. Without saying who the Master bid his student farewell and left. The next morning when Laika searched all he found was his Masters personal belongings being packed vy royal guards. Going to his father the Grand King simply stated he had left the planet. Some others from his organization, the Jedi, had finally found his distress signal and rescued him. Laika couldn't believe what he was hearing, Master Kaior would never just leave. Furious he left and searched everywhere he could, but all be found was a small journal left to him by Kaior in his chambers. It detailed the ways of the force in a less than... detailed manner. However it had combat instructions which they had also began to study, and a personal note. Trust in the Force. It will guide you. For years after that, he had studied the journal down to the letter, memorizing nearly every page. Yet, he was not guided to his friend and mentor. On his 19th birthday, Laika was perusing around the outskirts in a junkyard where he found a familiar looking piece of scrap sticking out of the heap. A logo... one he hadn't seen since his near forgotten Master had left. The insignia of The Republic! While scraped and painted over he would never mistake it. With his sisters help he dug up the trash and found parts and pieces of his Masters old ship. He was confused, and angry. Why was this here if he had been rescued? He knew it must be a lit. Yet, there was some feeling in his gut that told him he could not confront his father. Using their influence and knowledge they pieced apart the ship and had it sent to his sisters private quarters where the two would spend their freetime piecing it back together. It was clear to Laika she was a much better mechabic than he could ever dream. Even with what Kaior told them about his ship and the galaxy at large he had very little knowlegde of what was going on. At most he was her tool jocky. Yet, she could discern what foreign mechanisms would do what with such quickness. It was through this teamwork they were able to restore the ship to what they believed to be flyable condition. It was then his sister confronted her brother saying they should speak with their father. That he could explain everything. Yet, Laika was unsure. Through it all however, she convinced him. Letting her go, she would tell their father of their discovery and how they repaired the ship. While she was gone Laika took one last sit in the cockpit he sat back and rested his arm on the side when he pushed a button. Once he did a blue image in the form of his long gone friend appeared in front of his eyes. "I fear everything is not right with this planet. I am unsure if these messages are reaching anywhere, I believe it to be the work of a jamming device under the city itself. There is a cloud distorting the force here. This is the last of my messages for now until I can make sense of my situation. If anyone can hear this, now would be the time to send help. Master Rei'n Kaior out." That was all the confirmation Laika needed. With the limited... teaching of how to fly a ship like this, Laika managed to get it into the air before he saw his father and sister enter the scene. Moving back to the controls they moved on their own, with purpose as they lurched the aching ship forward, and then into hyperapace. There was no turning back now. He was in the stars. |
