To most, it would appear that the Mirialan Jedi Knight has a constantly set jaw and harsh glare. Syd prefers to keep his hair closely cropped and immaculately groomed with militaristic precision. His dark green skin is marked with the traditional tattoos of his people. His choice of clothing seems to be nearly as fluid as his identity can be. In formal settings or while on business openly as a Jedi, he wears dark, earthy robes. While neck deep in the criminal underworlds of the Galaxy; if he chooses to show himself, Sydan will often dress to the tune of those he is around. Anywhere from the raggedy trappings of a vagrant, to the armored look of a bounty hunter. Regardless of dress, his lightsaber is rarely far from his reach, even if his unsuspecting marks never see it. Personality Profile "You know, for a Jedi Knight you sure are a real Sithspawn!" "Perhaps it is because I have spent as much time around your ilk as I have around my 'colleagues'?" -An exchange between an Exchange informant and Sydan Rwoz. Sydan Rwoz never truly had a "normal" upbringing, even for a Jedi. He was constantly carted around the galaxy in the vagabond lifestyle of a Jedi Investigator by his master. While studying to become a Jedi Knight, Syd was often exposed to the true harshness of the worst places the galaxy had to offer. While many other Jedi learned the introspective meditation exercises and dogma of the Order, Sydan Rwoz learned the trade craft of developing and cultivating intelligence networks. Around people, Sydan Rwoz is generally seen as reserved and seems rather unapproachable. His attitude burgeons on too serious, even for a Jedi of his trade. Many of his peers see him as a bit of an outsider, always lurking on the edges of meetings and gatherings with piercing, yellow eyes. In truth, perhaps Sydan developed his demeanor as a means of defense against the harsh realities of life outside of the scope of traditional Jedi work. Background Father • Hud Rwoz, 50, UNKNOWN Mother • Little information is available about his mother, she was not present during the signing of release papers when he was taken in to the Jedi. Siblings • UNKNOWN Other Important Connections • Jedi Master Lusk Virimax, 58, Human Male, Jedi Investigator Overall History • "Jedi Knight Rwoz! It has been nearly three standard months, why have you not reported your findings!?" "If I told you, you would have tried to send a strike team. The mission overruled my apparent 'need' to be babysat from light-years away, Masters of the Council." "It is a waste of time to reason with you, a clone of Virimax was the last thing we needed!" -A recording of a remote report to the Jedi Council by Sydan Rwoz. Sydan Rwoz was born on Mirial to parents of low economic and social status. Little in the Jedi records state the nature of his parents, the only name on release forms is a "Hud Rwoz" who apparently had to have an interpreter as he could not read Basic. Sydan Rwoz was discovered as a Force Sensitive at the age of three during a Jedi recruitment sweep of all force sensitive children. He was taken to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant not long after his discovery to begin the earliest steps in Jedi training. Early on in his training, he had an innate affinity for using the Force to conceal his presence and go unnoticed. Several times as a youngling, Sydan caused trouble for his caretakers and teachers thinking they had somehow lost him. He was noted as a quiet, introverted child. Unlike his peers, he rarely displayed his emotions and even more rarely answered questions or volunteered during lessons. When Sydan turned twelve, he was pulled from a lesson at random to meet a Jedi Knight who he had never met. The meeting was brief, and in no time the mysterious Jedi Knight known as Lusk Virimax whisked the Mirialan youth off to be his Padawan Learner. Things with Lusk Virimax were far different from everything Sydan had learned about the master-apprentice relationship essential to Jedi training. Instead of warm and insightful, Virimax was cold and standoffish. For the first week, he never even told Sydan his name. He made a game of it to get the young Jedi to figure it out, as lesson number one. It seemed that strange mental games foreshadowed much of Sydan's training. While other masters routinely provided feedback on the progress of their Padawans, Virimax almost seemed to delight in saying very little. He would give Sydan very brief instructions, telling him to "Find out, kid or you're no use to me." As the years wore on, Lusk Virimax began to teach Sydan things he never knew a Jedi was able to do, or even allowed to do. He taught Sydan to utilize his inherent force abilities to help disguise himself and to commit espionage. Together, the pair tracked ruthless criminals and even rogue force users. They traveled all over the galaxy, performing missions that would never leave the Jedi High Council chambers. Lusk taught the young Mirialan that their job would never be glorious, and when they were inevitably killed they would not be remembered as heroes like their peers. After all, the end of a Jedi Investigator is usually in the bottom of a pit or a filthy gutter on the lowest level of a city world. While their work was intensely dangerous, Sydan felt a sense of fulfillment in it. Unlike their contemporaries, they did not have to stand around and contemplate a peaceful solution. They typically had full autonomous authority to act in the best interest of their covert missions. Eventually, Sydan Rwoz was taken to Coruscant for the Jedi Trials by his master. Upon completion of the sacred rites of passage of a Jedi Knight, Sydan Rwoz was knighted in a quiet ceremony by the Jedi Grandmaster. Sydan and Lusk hardly stayed the night, they returned to the vagrant and far-off lifestyle of the Jedi Investigator nearly as quickly as they had come. After two more years of operating alongside his master, Rwoz was given permission to operate on his own. The two quietly parted ways with a firm understanding that it would likely be the last time they would see one another. To this day, Sydan Rwoz wanders through the terrible underbellies wondering if perhaps the next seedy informant or desperate ally will give him Lusk Virimax's greetings. |
