Appearance Face Claim • Angela Bassett Height & Weight • 5’10, 183lbs Overall Looks • Angular and strong Jiva's combination of high cheek bones, impressive height, and musculature crafts a striking silhouette. Despite the sharpness of her jaw and broad shoulders warmth emanates from the Alor'ad clad in dark red accented purple. Wild hair is forcefully bundled into a tight ball against the woman's skull, though when worn down it tends to fluff down to her elbows. Beneath her ever present armor is a motley of scars, silvered and dull from her years of monster hunting, bounty hunting and fighting for the Mandalorian people. A scratch long and jagged from shoulder to hip is the most imposing of them. A small line splits her eyebrow and a scuff from her youth is dull against her chin. Personality Profile Among clan and friends Jiva is gregarious, stern and attentive. She's the nosy, prodding sort to demand you tell her what trouble you've been in and then celebrate what lessons you've learned. She values a warm meal and good company. From an outsider's perspective one might find Jiva overly critical and quick to point out flaws, and they'd be right. Her job as Alor'ad and experience in the greater galactic community leaves Jiva on a vibro-knife's edge, balancing between her natural inclinations towards brashness and the self-imposed need to improve those around her. To outsiders Jiva is characterized by her booming voice and uncompromising attitude, never one to mince words. With the Resol'nare explicitly banned and their people reduced to nomads without the basic tenants of their culture to guide them, Clan Deshra fell into an easy niche. Monster hunting. Akande Sigurd Deshra and his wife Chayai Koss Deshra felt the call of the hunt and sought glory, what they could between the restrictions of their culture and the watchful eye of the Republic, in taking on the greatest game in the galaxy. It was steeped in this, in the absence of the principles they themselves barely remembered, that they raised their children. It was a loving, active and memorable childhood. Jiva from a young age had a bossy attitude and an ambitious nature which reflected well as she as at 17 struck out into the galaxy at all large. Taking contracts across Republic and Hutt space Jiva became a mercenary, finding it paid better than the more exciting and sometimes long hunts. Bounties in particular became a favorite, stalking targets across systems before taking them down with style and humor. Eventually settling into Nar Shaddaa Jiva, now in her twenties, entangled herself with the Exchange and a man name Garland. It was lucrative, exciting, and challenging work. After some time Jiva began a romantic relationship with Garland and found herself carrying his child. Independent to a fault Jiva worked until her armor no longer fit before returning to Concord Dawn to have a daughter, Avishan. Her parents welcomed their third grandchild with open arms, eager to assist Jiva with raising her on the world in the wake of their youngest son Arlid and his wife's death. Motherhood did not come naturally to the mercenary who flopped between affectionate and fun-loving and detached, leaving for months at a time with little fanfare or farewells, only to return without warning. This proved to become a source of contention between Akande and Jiva who wanted his daughter to take a more active approach to parenting. Jiva continued her work with the Exchange before leaving that too for greener pastures as her strained relationship with Garland continued to deteriorate, taking on freelance jobs through the HLS or bounty guilds. As Avishan grew older and easier to relate to Jiva took the teenager with her to Nar Shaddaa and gave her an excess of freedom, encouraging her to find her own way in galaxy. This was the way life would be, searching for a glory you could taste. Searching for the edge that set you apart from the rest. It was a life without the Resol'nare, but a good life still. Things began to shift by Jiva's 42nd birthday, rumors spread throughout the Clans that someone was gathering a team of Mandalorians for an Operation. Ignoring such rumors Jiva continued her work in Hutt and Republic space, taking on bounty hunting, burglary and hired gun work where she could find it. These rumors came and went, but with it a great tide of the young Mandalorian people rose up, eager to throw off the oppressive Republic's harsh control over their culture, lives and space. In this tide a new Mandalore rose and called for a campaign to take back their ancestral planets-- A call this time that Jiva heard. Operating from Concord Dawn Jiva performed in missions to help Clan Deshra and others reclaim their birthplace and neighboring systems. It was through cooperation with other clans that Jiva met Quent'us Spar. Quent'us was a jovial and passionate man with a thirst for independence for his people and a love of battle-- A perfect match for Jiva's own exuberant personality. The pair made an excellent team and fueled one another's aspirations for a return to the glory of the Mandalorians. Unfortunately this vision lost steam when Mandalore contracted a rare disease on Concord Dawn, passing away... but only after passing the torch to a new one who would take up the mantle as Mandalore the Liberator. This would mark a period of instability for her people, one followed endlessly in her search for glory and to help in the making of history. Mandalore the Liberator would go on to ally with the Sith against the Republic, a move Jiva would ultimately disagree with but wasn't in any position to question. Mandalore the Liberator too would fall, just after Jiva's 43rd birthday, in a battle that would ultimately threaten the Mandalorian cause as a whole. Pursuing cohesion and a final push with a strong leader Jiva sided once more with an upstart, a young woman who took up the name Mandalore the Reclaimer. Mandalore the Reclaimer proved capable, leading the once nomadic clans to break the Arasuum Treaty. Jiva spent these prosperous years fighting against the Republic and establishing herself a capable warrior. Her life in the criminal underworld had long ended, but the echoes of it in Garland and Avishan continued. Garland eventually went missing and while Jiva had married Quent'us she still mourned the father of her child. The Exchange's leadership changed and with it Jiva's influence, but patriotism and war held her attention and the search for Garland was fruitless. After six years of progress towards the Mandalorian agenda Mandalore the Reclaimer was assassinated. Neither the Republic nor the Empire took responsibility for it. Once more the Mandalorian people were without strong central leadership and they crumpled. This instability was quickly taken advantage of by Mandalore the Regulator-- An opposing man who defied both the Republic and the Empire. He sought to uplift the clans from merely a few systems to a true superpowers. In the glory and gusto of his words, Jiva and Quent supported him, fearful that the infighting between clans would lose them everything they'd fought for so far. At the age of 49 Jiva participated in the conquering of Onderon, a great victory for the Mandalorian people that resulted in the formation of a true and designated Mandalorian space. Unfortunately, Quent'us perished in one of the attacks leaving Jiva to carry out a mission against the Onderonian forces alone. The end of the mission came with heavy losses, but a victory for the people over all. Now 49 and with a lifetime of fighting behind her Jiva found herself disillusioned to the quest for glory and the call for a Golden Age Mandalore the Regulator based his platform. Her brothers were dead, be it by monster hunting or jobs gone foul, her husband and lover long gone. She had in her zealous quest for greatness missed much of Avishan's life. After Onderon Jiva returned to Concord Dawn and presented herself to the Alor of Clan Deshra. She took the new found freedoms afforded to Mandalorians to learn about the Resol'nare properly, to devote herself to it's principles. After years of conflict and struggle Jiva sought to return to the traditions, to forge a better path for the children and to seek peace in the new way of Mandalorian life her fighting had afforded them. Eventually she became the Alor'ad, Captain, of Clan Deshra. When teh Archeri invaded Jiva was instrumental to protecting Clan Deshra, implementing policies to help hamper the spread of the plague and imposing quarantine areas. She with the chief of Clan Deshra worked hard to keep Concord Dawn safe and as far out of the direct fight as possible, though many were still lost to the plague and to invasion. Like those who came before him, Mandalore the Regulator too falls. A new Mandalore is needed and Jiva has grown tired of the mistakes of those who came before. She fears the recklessness of youth and the call for glory that has pervaded their culture. In response, Jiva stands up to take the mantle of Mandalore and save their people from another generation of instability. |
