Nalialu Xem Full Name • Nalialu Xem Nickname • Nali Race • Human Birthplace • Mrisst Age • 28 Gender • male Sexuality • hetero Faction •Jedi Concept • Knight Languages • Basic, Tortugan Assets • Jedi Robes, Dual phase sapphire blue lightsaber, shoto purple bladed lightsaber Appearance Face Claim • Chris Hemsworth Height & Weight • 6'6" Overall Looks • Nalialu could have come from any planet, more meaning that he would break the mold of any preconceived notion of what the racial normals were on that planet. Standing at six foot six he towers over even most other humans in powered armors. Shoulders of a size that in most dank dark corners of maintenance hatches and the cockpit of many a fighter, he would break the small circuitry surrounding him And quite probably get stuck. The muscles under his robes are well past simply toned, a rigorous physical training program keeping him so. He is a mountain of a man who has biceps the size of most men's thighs, and moves like cat. Albeit one of the larger hunting cats, rather than their slim shadow stalking brethren. Crystal clear blue eyes that seem to see just a little too much and have entirely too much acceptance look out on the world, often flashing with an internal light that shines like the golden light of dawn. His golden brown hair is shot through with red and hangs longer than it should. Personality Profile His earliest memories are his grandfather telling him the epic tales of the Jedi Knights. Not simply those who fought the Empire. But the Ancients. The ideology of the Jedi was and is dear to his heart. The Jedi themselves aided in his views when he felt the Galaxy scream in pain and his fellow Padawans cried out that the Sith had come, and the Council Did Nothing. For him, making the Good decision, is still an easy one. That means his own life over another isn't a problem for him. Even unto offering up his life to an enemy, to simply give them the Chance to stop. While his honesty and openness and Idealism can make one wish for the world that Nalialu Xem's eyes see, those who have seen the harsher side of reality can find it grating. His constant optimism and belief in himself and others, in his allies and friends. Even in his enemies. A known liar will be given a second chance, a murderer a chance to repent and be better, even the slaughterer of his entire childhood. His massive size hides a calm, serene but quick intellect, that some would call wise instead of intelligent. A strange intuition flows from him, one of someone who did nothing to hide that he saw things that many just did not. A voice of peace that speaks of ancient wisdom beyond his years, wisdom tempered by loss. Sometimes one learns more from a loss than a victory, and the Sith exacted terrible loss on him. In himself he found strength and wisdom enough to step away from the brink. There is a pureness, honesty and openness to him with not a sarcastic bone in his body. This ability to simply be open constantly, can be a boon when dealing with others as his reputation can precede him. When he does speak he uses a surprising vocabulary offset with a small amount of words. He prefers to let others speak, but makes sure that What he says in the rare moments he does speak is worth the time of the others listening. There is little that will stop him from speaking out when he sees injustice and cruelty, it is easy for him to let others simply speak, while he watches for danger. He will speak when it is obvious others will listen, or when it is his place as when he is teaching. Then he often speaks at length on philosophy and shows more wisdom than his muscled pretty boy face would lead others to guess he had. His mind leans more towards wise sayings than intellectual thoughts. And though matters of technology are often beyond him, though he has no small knack for lightsabers, specifically the Crystals. Background Father • Kolsar Xem, 51, Farmer Mother • Corvus Xem, 49, Farmer Siblings • Port Xem, Brother, 35 Quinnlan Xem, Sister, 33 Calluna Xem, Sister, 27 Seagram Xem, Brother, 26 Other Important Connections • Aliax, Jedi, Rival Overall History • Nalialu Xem began life as a farmer, and his physique shows it. Healthily fed in the inner core worlds on one of the many agricultural worlds he worked everyday since he could walk. There was a boundless energy in him that seemed to come from Elsewhere, but his father had kept him from all aspects of modern life. Hard labor built character, and in this world that was all one needed. As such he did not attend a school but was homeschooled with his several brothers and sisters by their mother. Until Jedi Knight Mivaal Khess, a Tortugan, found him at a young age and brought him to the Temple on Coruscant. There Nalialu’s small world vastly opened. Or the possibility for it had. As a youngling young Nalialu excelled at the physical aspects of the Force but struggled with the more esoteric points of telepathy and telekinesis. The only exception being shielding others, which he has a special knack for. Mivaal Khess found this an intriguing issue and took him on as a Padawan later because of it. At the Temple his teachers oft lamented at his lack of ability to lift even small boulders, a feat that should have had no problems for even a Youngling. But put a fellow in danger, as when during a training exercise things went wrong… Fellow youngling Aliax was showing off, flinging rocks this way and that to impress his fellow younglings. A dashing young thing, a son of a noble Aliax expected praise. Expected to be the best naturally at everything. And in those classes, he vastly overshadowed the young Nalialu. Until one of the rocks slammed into a nearby panel exposing a high voltage wire to the group of younglings. Nalialu stepped forwards into the arcing light and placed a telekinetic shield pulling the energy back into himself and accepting the damage, at a power and skill level that was far beyond what he had previously shown capable of. He woke weeks later in the infirmary with his future Master at the foot of his bed. “Most impressive youngling, but if you don’t learn to care for yourself as well, you will not be able to help anyone.” Was the only scolding he received. After that Nalialu was assigned as a Padawan to Mivaal Khess, the Jedi Knight wanting to take a more personal stake in his instruction. Mivaal Khess took the young Jedi on most of her missions, regardless of the danger posed to the young man. Never far from his Master, his sabers never far from his side, he began to excel at certain aspects of the Force. Healing and lightsaber training he excelled at, but especially powerful was his ability to shield others. When he was sixteen, he helped Mivaal in a mission to save a royal family from a loosing world, a world the Republic could regain if they had any of the royals. It was the type of mission the massive human hated, stealthy and underhanded. But he could never say no to Mivaal, regardless of his personal feelings, he would bend when she spoke. The Jedi Knight had no issue acquiring the Royals, and her firm words convinced them to retreat the moment before the Sith Armada appeared in the sky above. Before they could make it to the hangar bays, the Sith had landed. Blue ion and red turbolasers lit the sky, storming down from above and arcing up from below from the planetary defenses. Stars fell from the sky, becoming transports of Sith Troopers and Sith, their fiery paths lighting the sky as they rocketed to their targets. Mivaal had taken the young Nalialu to many worlds, and many different situations. Warzones were not new to them. Being there at the start of a battle, that was new. And for the first time Nalialu experienced true terror. A turbolaser blast could decimate him and his charges and there was literally nothing he could do to stop it. A pink speckled hand touched his shoulder, her voice a calmness in the storm, “It is when the powerful feel powerless that they become desperate. Remember to master your fear and remain calm Padawan.” Their smiles on their faces faded as the Force told them what was about to happen, a turbolaser blast annihilated the building nearby, sending shrapnel and debris flying at them and the royal family. Without thinking his telekinesis kicked in, catching rock and duracrete alike. Reaching deep as he could he held the debris at bay. Technically he saved the day. Technically he was a hero in the eyes of the Royals. He didn’t think to shield his Master. Feeling her final moments filled him with a rage that gave him the extra power to toss back the debris. Everyone made it to the ship, except the one that mattered to him. Mivaal Khess’ passing burned bright in him and for the last several years he’s been attempting to master his Master’s last message. Remaining calm even when all hope is lost. When he had shown that he could master his own self, he was selected to go to Ilum, to gather his crystals and assemble his first Lightsaber. A harrowing task upon the ice planet of Ilum. The ancient planet was a holy site for the Jedi, a place where many had gone before. Some alone, some with their Masters, some with fellow Padawans. Each was tested in their own way by the ancient planet. Wandering the caverns, Nalialu was faced with his own test. A Sith had found the caves of the Jedi upon Ilum and was taking every gem she could get her hands on. Upon seeing the Youngling, the Sith ignited her scarlet blade, a mistake in the frozen caverns, especially with her heavy bags. The heat and weight cracked the ice under her, shattering and sending her saber flying, ice shards slicing the strap of her bag and scattering her haul. In a split second young Nalialu was given a choice. Save his enemy who would have a moment ago struck him down, or grab His Crystal, a sparkling sapphire stone of exceeding beauty and size. Instead of accepting the win loose scenario, the young Jedi reached out with all his connection with the force to connect with his and the other crystals. Pulling them like a net he threw his foe to the ground at his feet and grasped the sapphire crystal in his hand. “Only a fool would help his enemy.” Decried the Sith. Ignoring the woman, Nalialu pointed at the exit while calling her saber from the depths into his hand. “A Jedi Master lies that way; they will heal your wounds if you would just surrender.” He said while he unscrewed the power pack and tossing her back her blade. “Though I doubt you will listen.” “Fool.” She decried as she jumped forwards to attack, drawing a small dagger. Unfortunately, Ilum tested every Force user that came to its icy grip, and robbers were no different. Nalialu’s test was whether he would save even an enemy. Hers was simply to not blindly follow her rage. If she had not, she might have seen the small purple crystal that was meant to be hers, instead she slipped on the crystal and fell backwards flinging the crystal towards Nalialu. Diving forwards Nalialu grabbed his adversary’s free hand and tried to pull her back up onto the shelf. With a slice of a poisoned blade across his forearm the Sith growled out with hate and malice, “I would rather die than accept your help, and you will never escape these caves.” She fell into the frozen darkness, and her prediction was almost correct. If it had not been for the Jedis'skill in healing, Nalialu would have been one of the countless Jedi to fall to Ilum. As it was, he spent several days in the infirmary detoxing from a poison that would have killed him in excruciating pain. With his blades at his side, and simply robed he returns to the Galaxy, a full fledged Knight eager to prove his worth. |
