Stephen Bayou Ash Blue
Taas took a deep breath as he walked into the hangar, the bustle and jogging of soldiers and pilots around him offering little peace. Republic troopers hopped into dropships and handed up weapons, technicians and pilots working to prepare fighters, and even a swarm of astromechs making their way to each rapidly-preparing ship. Through it all, a voice echoed over the hangar intercom. ”2nd Battalion, rapid insertion in 60 seconds.”The entirety of the ship lurched, the entirety of the hangar shifting just a hair. What had been the eerie, smooth sensation of hyperspace gave way to barely sub-audible thrum of sublight engines, the far-off booms of turbolasers, and the distant crashes of bolts against shields. A klaxon sounded above the din of the busy hangar, and the main doors began to slide open, the usual blue airlock shield spreading between them. The sight they unveiled was as grim as any could be to a Jedi. The fighting was already well underway; a contingent of the Imperial 10th fleet created a protective line around a huge star station, both their guns and the station’s constant in their production of green bolts. Around them swarmed the Republic’s 90th fleet, battlecruisers and destroyers pressing the attack as their brethren followed close behind, responding to every volley of green with a volley of red. Starfighters danced between them all, some shooting at the smaller capital ships, some chasing the others, and yet some trailing little paths of smoke through the vacuum, zooming to their demise. An exploding corvette contrasted the pale green world of Thustra acting as backdrop to it all. One of many streaks of violence before a serene world. ”Force be with us.” With a murmured prayer, Taas closed his eyes and gave a final caress of his nose. The process of digesting their failure, their collective failure, to keep peace in a fractured galaxy, would take an untold amount of time to complete. In the meantime, there was work to be done, as the crackling voice over the intercom reminded once again. ”2nd Battalion, deploy.”Hopping aboard one of the dropships as its doors began to close, Taas let his expression harden as the doors closed. As the ship around him jostled out of the hangar, he raised a gauntlet and tapped a button, his earpiece activating. ”This is Master Erastothenes to my fellows. We must do what we can to de-escalate the conflict as promptly as possible. To that end, we must disarm the Imperial logistics station forthwith. Are we agreed?”

Truly, he despised wearing this contraption.
The exo-rig fit around his body like a metal exoskeleton, responding smoothly to his every thought and slightest movement. With it, Moho was able to walk as any other being, walk as if he was wandering the underwater expanses of Bor'kan, the planet from which he was birthed and of which he had no memory. It granted him freedom of movement that, in any other circumstances, he may have relished.
But the only times he wore the exo-rig was when conflict was upon them. And so, when the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order walked in the open air, it could mean only one thing.
War.
Around him was the bustle of people whose purpose was to kill and die. As he moved forward, his heavy steps resounding loudly on the metal floor of the vessel, Moho's amber eyes swept through the crowds.
How many of these people will never see another sun? How many of these people will live to look back on today with misery and horror?
'Grandmaster!' called a woman in military armour, waving an arm in the air to attract his attention. She was standing next to a dropship with a squad, and the unit stared up at the massive form of the Prellian Jedi. Standing in his exo-rig, Moho towered above the tallest of them by at least a head, and he was almost wider than three of them standing shoulder to shoulder. 'You're, er... you're a bit bigger than I thought you'd be, sir.'
'Yes, I hear that quite often,' Moho replied with a warm smile. 'But I assure you that I will be able to squeeze in. Are we ready to depart?'
'Just waiting for the green light, sir,' she confirmed. The Jedi's soft voice, in great contrast with his massive form, seemed to place the squad at ease.
'Then I will enter first,' the Grandmaster said, inclining his head. His many legs bent slightly to allow him access as he scuttled in sideways, the dropship shaking slightly as he boarded. Settling in at the back of the vessel, Moho's eyes closed.
Something is sitting ill with me. Nothing here seems quite right, as if a puzzle piece has been forced into the picture in the wrong place.
The Grandmaster's uneasy thoughts were interrupted as the call to board was given, and the squad outside piled into the dropship with him. Moho's communicator buzzed to life with the familiar voice of the Chief Librarian.
'On that, I am sure, nobody here will disagree, old friend,' Moho replied. 'The swifter we are, the sooner we can hopefully bring this conflict to a close. May the Force be with us.'
The old Jedi exhaled a breath, his primary and ancillary arms curling together as he touched upon the Force. From his bulky form a wave of calming energy began to expand, gently filling the hanger, spreading out into the space beyond. Those allies within its influence found their nerves settling, their movements smoother and more co-ordinated, their determination soaring... while others standing in opposition to them discovered their wills beginning to falter.
Battle Meditation was a powerful tool and, until Moho needed to exit transit, he intended to implement it to its full potential to help bring this battle to a speedy conclusion with as few casualties as possible.

The chaotic hustle and bustle of the hangar was apparent as soon as one entered. The smell of metal and fuel was evident in the filtered air. So many of the Republic's finest from troopers to mechanics were sprinting around, eager to complete their assigned task. War. War was a chaotic beauty. Many of his Jedi brethren would disagree with that point of view. After all, war took lives. But Kellen tended to see past what conflicts presented. The galaxy would always have conflict, he was not naive enough to believe the Jedi alone could stop that. What he did believe, hope even, was that after every war was the chance for peace. Peace that would only last until emotions brought them once more back to war.
And so here he was, his sleek Jedi garb flowing as his Republic coat stood him out as he wore his believes on the outside. A mix of Jedi determination and Republic steadfastness. Conflict was nothing new to the Jedi Master. They had fought the Empire before and they'd do so again. And so long as their Sith counterparts controlled the Empire, there would be no true peace. And so they must fight. And so they would.
Klaxons blared loudly throughout the hangar as formations of Republic troops marched their way to their shuttles for departure. The sight outside the hangar doors was grim and Kellen could feel the death emanating from space. Such a waste. Shaking his head, he made his way to his assigned shuttle where a squad of troopers awaited him. A Republic sergeant greeted him with a simple salute, one which Kellen returned with a friendly nod. The sergeant knew as much as he did that the time for talking was clearly past. Now was the time for conflict. And though he would hope otherwise; he was ready to face it.
His boot made contact with the shuttle floor as the troopers filled in around him just as the shuttle departed and the doors closed. "Master Mynn here, may the Force be with us all. Good luck everyone and I shall see you station side." Kellen's voice was a calm, steady baritone in comparison to the heavy blaster fire coming from outside. Their linked comms would see their mission to success and ensure this coordinated effort was brought to fruition.
It was then that Kellen felt that distinct feeling of a powerful force user at work. His usual feeling of calm, confidence and determination emboldened. No doubt the Grand Master was at work. Kellen took a knee within the shuttle and closed his eyes to focus his own efforts to bolster that of Master Moho's. Though he didn't have the centuries of experience the Grand Master did, Kellen's considerable skill at Battle Meditation was sent forth and would reach all those nearby enough to feel it's effects. Which was a great number indeed. So it begins.

Above all things, this was very much not Hoth. As much as it was busy and exciting and dangerous and teeming with busy important life, it was so much more not Hoth than anything else. Taelros had seen perhaps more people in the last fifteen minutes that he had in the entire last 5 years. They teemed around him like he was a stone in a riverbed and they were salmon desperate to breed and fearful of the bear's maw just above. He stopped in front of a mess hall of some type, his head cocked to the side. No one seemed to pay him any mind when he grabbed a pocket full of small fruit and grain ration bars. He made a gesture to someone who seemed to be manning the area and they nodded in agreement, even going further as to give him a few sealed paper sleeves of something called “Lemon lime electrolyte beverage base. He put his hands together in thanks. No matter where he went on this ship his status of jedi gave him. He nodded and turned back toward the hanger before running headlong into a tiny but sturdy republic officer.
“Master Anthir! I've been looking for you!” she extender her hand, fingers rigid toward him. “I'm Major Jeanette Wells and I've been assigned as the attache to the Jedi in this operation.” He nodded toward her and shook her hand, her robust grip overpowering his hand immediately. “Your dropship is prepped and waiting on you for departure.” Taelros' eyes widened a moment. Being late was clearly a mistake in a place like this. He quickly patted himself down. He had at least gotten in his armour under his robe and managed to not even lose his gun stealing food from the cafeteria like a youngling. “I apologize. I appear to have gotten lost. Please lead the way.” It was so easy in this orchestrated chaos to forget the reason you were here, just to be lost in the wash of senses.
Soon however they turned the right corner and the dropships loomed into sight. The intercom blared loudly giving him exactly 60 seconds to get aboard and get strapped in, which seemed a bit abrupt. He could hear two mechanics talking over his shoulder as Major Wells picked up speed. “60 seconds to rapid insertion? He's never given me that much warning.” another voice immediately chided back “Force. I'd need at least a drink before that.” Wells seemed to ignore the exchange and push forward. “Here you are Master Anthir, May the force be with you.” Taelros straightened himself and attempted as much formality as he could manage and replied, “And you as well.” before nodding farewell and stepping aboard the dropship. The quiet of the ship was noticeable. Taelros had barely time to strap himself in before the eyelid droop of burnoff pushed him into his chair. He glanced across the hold at his flightmates. “Sorry I'm late, I got lost.” he admitted simply. “I did bring snacks though. If you guys wanted some.” He dug out the assorted canteen bars out of his robe and offered them across the hold.

"Master Valeros, I really must-
Just Ash. I have heard your protests already and explained to you. This battle will need field medics. You all stay in the back where its safe. You don't need to fight. It will work out. Trust me."
The Mon Cala Jedi, Flus, looked at Ash with his very large eyes, blinked slowly, then sighed. Flus wasn't the only one who didn't like this. By this, he meant dragging Ash along. Ash had known Flus for many years which was why he was able to tag along in the first place, but Flus and his fellow healers were supposed to stay way back from the fighting.
Thats where Ash had managed to persuade his friend to land on the planet and provide support. There were going to be many injured and dead, and having experienced healers would help them and stop more from more fatalities than absolutely necessary. The past war even said to this.
"We're coming out of hyperspace now... IFF online and reading just fine. Seems like we arrived in the nick of time. Should be able to skirt to the planet in no time. " "Excellent. Open a channel to the Jedi leadership... 'Masters, this is Master Flus alongside Master Ash Valeros, here to provide support. We're pulling info now and will meet you groundside."
Ash looked at his friend, who seemed to have changed some within the last few years. Flus use to be a very simple healer but now he seemed more like a hardened battle master. The Jedi turned his eye towards Ash, before turning his entire head and then body.
"Master Valeros go make sure you're ready for battle. Seems like someone out there is using Battle Meditation so hopefully there wont be a fight. Pilot, get this boat on the ground fast. We're in some high end corvette right? The faster the better. I would like us on the ground behind the first wave"
Definitely changed. Braver. Flus was an excellent Master. Ash nodded and went back to the cargo area, looking towards the ramp. In a few minutes they'd be ground side. He threw a cloak over his dark armor, splashed now with blue, white, gold, and patches of it was rubbed through and was silver rather than black or purple. After pulling up his hood, he threw his large sword on his back and attached his lightsaber on his belt. Then as he stood, he started to meditate, centering himself, which was much easier these days.
"May the force be with us.

Master Taelros wasn’t a name Taas recognized, but that was a matter for later. Masters Mynn, Anthir, and Moho were stalwart fellows indeed for such dire times. Taking some heart in their responses, Taas chanced a small smile, reminding himself that grim thoughts would only serve grim times better. Optimism was a core tenet of their order, after all; any moment that one could take to pause and be grateful for something was time well spent.
Even then, though, the jostling of his dropship made the smile fade. As it and the first wave of Republic ships lurched out of their hangars, the mood of the soldiers around him made Taas frown. Some of them were furious, almost satisfied to finally be fighting their promised opponent after years of waiting. Others were nervous, terrified even, the gravity of the day weighing on them. All considered death in one fashion or another, their particular trains of thought through the ultimate fate betraying of their character.
Unclipping his saber from his belt, Taas adjusted his grip as the dropship shuddered. It and its squadron spearheaded the first flood of Republic ships from the 90th Fleet, which had formed a semi-sphere around the logistics station, the only way for anyone aboard to go toward the planet. Fighters flashed by in streaks of brilliant light, their radios chattering in varying levels of excitement as they chased and evaded Imperial squadrons. A fair few hung back, running interference for each dropship as best they could.
When the first exploded, Taas took a breath and closed his eyes. Another burst of light, another call over the comms of a killed dropship. Then two more. Then the annihilation of an Imperial squadron. The jubilation of a rookie pilot making his first kill. The desperation of a rusty veteran hollering for back-up, two fighters on his tail. The concentration of a dropship pilot just trying to keep himself alive.
And finally, the panic of ever-nearing Imperial soldiers preparing to defend a hangar.
The first wave of dropships zoomed over the station’s main hangar, weaving to evade the defensive guns and giving everyone involved a good view of its sealed doors. Cresting over it, their dropzone came into view; a portion of the station’s exterior pounded by the 90th Fleet’s initial bombardment, jagged and burning, the interior of the station apparent. As Taas’s dropship began to set down, he finally sealed his helmet, a gauge with his limited supply of air popping up on his wrist as the doors opened.
Past the raging battle and smouldering station, oblivion beckoned.
With a leap, Taas drifted weightlessly headfirst into the station’s side, Republic marines hot on his heels with their jetpacks alight. As he neared, he flipped, boots glowing a faint blue before zipping down to the floor of some ruined hallway, landing with a metallic thunk only audible to him. Igniting his saber, he ran (such as he could) toward the sealed airlock just within, the red lights indicating that it was locked.
With 20 seconds of carving, purple plasma divorced the airlock from the station. With a rush of air out of the next room, Taas activated the other end, double-saber fully extended. The Imperials within gave him no chance to breathe, shooting immediately as he spoke into his comm. "I have created an entry point."
Within all of their ears, the same voice that ordered their deployment crackled back to life. ”2nd Battalion, your first objective is the primary hangar. Neutralize any hostile elements within, kill the turrets, and get those doors open for reinforcements.”

Moho maintained his concentration as the dropship he was in began to take off. Through his Battle Meditation, he could feel the life of every being on this battlefield; through it, he felt every death. Joy, sorrow, pain, resolve, a heady mix of emotions sang out to the Grand Master as they flew through the void. His mind, and the mind of Master Mynn, connected them all together, Republic minds working in concert while Imperial moral began to plummet. But there would always be casualties, and soldiers were trained to maintain discipline in the face of adversity. While some fronts crumbled, others doggedly held on, and Moho would soon have to turn his mind to the strike team's mission.
He had helped tip the scales. Soon, it would be down to the Repubic military to keep them that way.
Moho's transport held off while Master Erastothenes' unit led the initial breach. The old Jedi could feel the emotional state of the unit assigned as his guards. Some were resentful-
Babysitting an overgrown crab while my comrades fight and die. I should be with them...
Others were relieved-
First in is often first to die. I landed a cushy assignment this time...
But regardless of their inner thoughts, their will remained steadfast and their minds set of the task. And when the message came that Master Erastothenes and his unit had breached into the hanger, Moho's pilot wasted no time at all. They flew fast and low, and the soldiers inside with him readied up... only to discover that the Jedi was already at the door.
'Do pardon me,' he stated with a smile, his voice filtered through the comms of his void suit. Then, he jumped.
There was a brief moment where he was weightless. There was no sound and, for just the smallest of moments, Moho closed his eyes and just felt. Nothingness, emptiness. If it was not for the dying screams reverberating through the Force, it would be peaceful. I must do this again. At least once, before the end.
And just as quickly as it was, it ceased to be. He felt his legs make contact with the floor, and Moho's amber eyes saw the burned outline cut into the door.
Alas, too small for once of my stature.
Beyond he could see the flashing lights of laserfire as Taas and his group were pelted with fury, and giving it back just as hard. Around the old Jedi, his own unit formed, moving past him and into the hole Taas had made. Once they were through, Moho raised one of his claws.
There was a vibration as the damaged door shook, as if a giant hand taken hold of it and had begun to squeeze. It bent and twisted out of shape until, with what would have been an ear-shattering screech, it was torn free and flung itself into the hanger. Flying over the heads of the Republic troopers, the hunk of metal smashed into one of the turret emplacements before swinging back through the air, crushing a second. Then a third. Then a fourth.
With such a sudden display of power, attention naturally shifted and Moho came under heavy fire, taking some of the pressure off of Taas' unit and the other soldiers. A barrier of light formed a bubble around the large Jedi, the blaster fire causing countless ripples to form on its surface.
Slowly, Moho moved further into the hanger, standing right in the open and pulling as much of the incoming fire onto himself as he possibly could. He could no longer attack, but his defence seemed to be holding strong.

Ash ditched his cloak, replacing the material with his helmet. The station loomed closer and closer and Ash realized he didn't need all of his belongings. Not that he had much, but the cloak was useless to him for what was coming ahead.
"The fighting has started and every zone is hot right now. We already almost been hit twice according to th-"
The corvette rocked hard, gravity leaving for a moment before coming back on. Inertia compensators were also thrown off as there was a sharp maneuver that, if Ash's boots weren't magnetized could have thrown him off his feet. Flus was the same, but both men stayed on their feet, and they looked at each other.
That cant be good. 'Captain what happened?.......... Damn Sith. Ok. Get us as close as you can. If we need to we will jump.' Ash get a Jetpack. This bucket has been hit hard in the engines and we're leaking fuel. They're gonna get us as close as he can before he is gonna beat feet and get back to the back lines. I'm going to get everyone inside here and were gonna space jump."
"Understood. Get them here fast, Flus."
The duo broke apart and Ash quickly made his way to the armory wall, grabbing a jetpack, which he threw on his back after removing his sword. He held his sword, as he couldn't get it and the pack on his back. That was fine. Get to the station and they would be golden. No worries after that.
The ship rocked again and power fluctuated again but there was still gravity. At this time, Flus ran in with a few other Jedi behind him, as well as some Republic Troopers who were all heading to this side of the ship. Everyone save the Jedi were ready for their jump. Flus and the other Jedi finished getting ready as fast as they can.
color=blue]"Attention Jedi and Troopers we are coming in hot! Jump in less than 15 seconds. Window of jump is about 10 seconds before youre stuck here.
Ash didn't get a word in as the loudspeaker went off and the side door retracted, showing the space station huge before them, and a hanger coming up fast. Ash took a spot near the force field, ready to be one of the first ones on the station. At a horn sound, Ash jumped out, Flus and the others on his heels. They were in space for less than 10 seconds before they flew into the hanger, jetpacks hot as they were burning hard to slow them down. With the force too, everyone, even the troopers, made a soft landing. Ash came in too hot but still landed, his sword being tossed away to stick in a bulkhead near the entrance to the hanger where everyone was fighting. He instead channeled the force to help slow everyone even more.
Ahead of them there was fighting, and what looks like a large door torn off the hinges. Signs of a force user for sure. Ash felt the power of the force from a large armor slab, knowing that it was quite a powerful force user.
Flus, stay here and make this the haven.
Ash charged in ahead, launching himself up into the air and igniting his silver blade, the hum near silent as Ash centered himself completely as he flew over the encased Crab-like alien Jedi Master and caught several blaster bolts on his blade, sending them back.
Before he landed, he grabbed his sword with the force, dragging it to him so when he landed he deftly caught the usually heavy weapon. With the force going through it, it was as if a feather to Ash. Now, it was a shield, held in his left hand while his right deflected and struck out. The sooner these forces were routed the better.
And there were few better an routing than a former combat instructor, a monster in his own right.

As the shuttle grew near the hanger bay the Force flowed into Taelros in awkward and uneven waves. With so many creatures around in him various stages and Jedi amongst them it felt like Running a shower with people periodically either dumping buckets of water over the curtain on you or flushing the refresher over and over again and turning on all the hot taps. Still the force was there for him to use, and he obliged. As the shuttle neared the hanger Taelros rose and put one of his feet against the door to the cockpit. As the momentum of the craft slowed upon entering the hanger and momentum shifted forward, Taelros launched himself.
The weightless of the moments of Zero G before the station's barrier and dampeners reestablished coupled with Taelros' force infused legs launched the Arkanian out of the shuttle like a blaster bolt. The second he cleared the doors of the dropship he ignited his double bladed lightsaber and began cycling it around his body as he pirouetted and twisted in the air. He looked like the hardline rave version of a sycamore seed in a wind tunnel. He and his blade twisted in almost impossible angles through the air, drawing the eye and the fire of the imperial soldiers within. Several surprisingly well aimed blast struck Taelros true, and were absorbed and dissipated harmlessly in the force.
Taelros' momentum eventually carried him to the wall which he hit with a skid. He gathered his feet and ran along the wall scraping off anything that looked even slightly turret shaped or protruded more than 30 centimeters on his jog before his momentum finally gave way. He leapt from the wall and rolled to his feet still sprinting toward Master Taas. He slid on his knees past two men, hewing them from their respective left and right legs and quickly spun back and killed both with a backstroke. Almost to Taas, he heard the orders, 'Stay in the hanger and tear open all the doors.' was the long and short of it. He had hoped for more forward moment at the first, but the hanger was a good start. He pivoted on his heel and spun toward another door, this time into a security room. He cut off one of his blades and swung with the other side in an upward arc, slinging molten metal from the metal scaffolding he stood on forward in a shower of sparks. More and more wild strokes he took at the door until in collapsed into a heap of slag leaving an still glowing irregular hole about 2 meters in length.
“Alrighty.” he said simply as he side stepped the portal, the space in front of him immediately filled with the air distorting scream of sonic weaponry coming from somewhere within. He had been briefed on sonic weaponry but hadn't encountered any as of yet. He ignited his blade and dangled it in front of the aperture but it had no effect on the blasts coming from within. He shrugged and tried a different tack.
Taelros swung up on the railing of the walkway an ran back to the fallen imperial soldiers from earlier. Blaster bolts still sliced through his robes but failed to gain purchase or push him off balance. He reached out and dragged the corpse to him, but in doing so dragged it in the path of the doorway. He watched in revulsion as the top half of the imperial liquefied and arched out, carrying his shattered bones with it in a conical pattern on the grating. He shuddered and grabbed for his belt and stole what he needed. He spun back on his heel at threw two primed grenades as hard as the force would allow through the burnt husk of a door, He followed shortly there after in a sprint, catching up to the room just as the thunder of the grenades went off.

The dropship shuddered as they made their way through the last stretch of their trip. The emotions and embers that were lives coming and going like ocean waves on a beach. The lives of pilots, troopers and Naval crew flicking in and out as the Force retrieved them for other purposes. Such a waste of life.
The pilot began a circling pattern overhead of where Master Erastothenes was to make his breach as the first unit in. Two other dropships made their drops before it was finally, and lastly, his turn. A nearby Marine handed him a oxygenated helmet just as he stood and collected himself, steady in his mission and purpose. The lasting effects of his Battle Meditation leaving the rest of this fight up to its recipients. Just as his helmet activated and displayed its tank level, the doors slid open and he jumped.
Floating effortlessly towards the breach with the momentum of a jumping start. Blaster fire was apparent at this time, being slung across the chaotic hanger like party lighting. A few sabers could be seen between the mass of soldiers intent on killing one another. And then, the weightlessness of space fell away and the artificial gravity of the station accepted him. Kellen dove into a roll as he hit the station floor, reaching for his saber and igniting the blue blade as he stood up. A few blaster bolts deflected away as he moved towards what little cover he could find.
His Marines were right behind him as they steadied their jetpacks and hit the turf, moving forward in a firing line and following the Jedi's lead, assuming what cover they could find. The grisly Sergeant ended up next to the Jedi master, firing his blaster at whatever Imperial he could find as he downed two or three. The man was a veteran indeed.
"Master Jedi, some of the turrets were taken out but the far side of the hanger is still heavily defended." Kellen dared a glance over the large crate filled with fighter replacement parts as he took in the small battlefield. The Imperials had time to set up defenses in the form of weaponry and barriers for cover. They were entrenched and the Jedi task force was a Forlorn Hope in the breach. He nodded mentally before retreating to his cover. "Sergeant, have your men throw their grenades."
The Sergeant looked up at him with an inquisitive expression behind his helmet. "Sir, we'd never be able to throw that far."
"Trust in me, Sergeant. Make the call." Kellen took a step back and readied himself. The Sergeant yelled out the order and one by one the Marines reached for their detonators and on a second order, a whole squad of grenades were tossed into the air in varying arcs of height, some traveling farther than others. The Jedi Master focused on them all and used the Force to amplify their momentum, latching onto them each and slinging them across the hanger and into the Imperial positions with an outstretched hand. Seconds later, small explosions rocked their line and was followed up by the bigger explosion of a turret igniting into a fireball. It was not much but it was enough to make his squad feel like they dealt a blow. Which they had, no matter how significant.
Kellen smiled towards his squad, the Marine Sergeant returning a nod with a slight smile before returning to exchanging blaster fire with his nemesis. Kellen then signaled for his men and women to follow his lead. Stepping away from cover he lead their formation, deflecting blaster fire as they made their way along the wall to attempt a flanking maneuver and drive a wedge where they could. It would certainly do no good to remain on the X where everyone else was huddled together with little cover. If anything, he could attempt to break this stalemate or at least push far enough to force the Imperials to respond and open their defenses for one of the other Masters.

The push into the hangar moved lurch by lurch for Taas, his initial assault with the Marines being the first. Moho’s arrival grabbed attention well, allowing for a second. Then came the drop from the corvette, scoring another few meters. Then the ring of grenades, a duo followed by an entire squad’s worth, bought more and more.
But they needed just that extra push, the Imperial defense retreating but threatening to hold. And peering through the dance of his purple double-sided saber, Taas knew well enough what could do.
Navigating closer to Master Moho, Taas began to rely on him as a wall, eyes scanning for targets. It was not a matter of what would accomplish their goal of taking the hangar; that could be accomplished simply enough. The issue was doing so constructively. Minimizing casualties. Keeping the mammoth floor clear of debris. Keeping as many systems functional for the incoming troops. Giving the greatest opportunities for surrender. In a perfect world, or rather, in a controlled, experimental setting, all of these might have been achievable.
Today, at least some would have to be forgone.
Watching as the last of the grenades went off behind the Imperial line, Taas sighed heavily before raising a hand. The last few explosions seemed to slow, the air around them wriggling from more than just their own shockwave. For a moment, through the blasterfire and chaos, it almost seemed like they might freeze entirely, the flames and shine of each ticking slower and slower. Finally, they began to reverse, shrinking back on themselves, leaving their debris to tumble to the floor seemingly harmless.
Then Taas closed his fist, a single apologetic thought ringing through his mind before he opened it again.
The explosions reappeared tenfold. Each seared through the Imperial line with the brightness of a sunlight engine, their shapes morphing from independent spheres of force and fire to a line ripping from one side of the hangar to the other. The Imperial troops that had been closest to the grenades’ original positions went flying, many in multiple pieces. Some that had a second before their shapes changed managed to dive for new cover, breaking ranks as their old positions disappeared in a surge of energy.
When the smoke cleared and the hangar stopped rocking, the Imperial line was a mess, a sizeable chunk left exposed, injured, or worse. With a wave of his saber, Taas pointed onward. ”Surrender!” The Marines around them took the command as a cue to charge, hopping from their own cover to make the next push. Taas was only a step behind them, saber flurrying.
With another twenty seconds, the Republic forces had reached the other side of the hangar, and the Imperial troopers that weren’t dead or with guns to their heads were fleeing through the exits in droves.
Detouring, Taas jumped from the hangar’s floor to its command deck, finding it abandoned. With a few procedures quickly tapped out on the consoles, the hangar doors hollered with klaxons before those that remained closed began to open, sliding apart with such little speed as they could muster. As they did so, the battle outside once again became visible, including a spread-out convoy of additional troop transports, gunships, and fighters streaming from one of the Republic carriers. The gunships came first, zooming into the hangar and clearing space the quickest way possible; smashing through. As the first proper troop transport landed, many of the Marines gave a collective yell, most already on the move.
”Lieutenant Eisley, we have secured the hangar.”
”Quick work, Masters. We can take it from there. Your second objective is to take the 2nd Battalion’s 5th Company and take the station’s command center. Scans indicate the Imps are digging in as we speak.”
”Of course.” Taking a single moment to breathe, Taas jumped back down, landing beside the Grandmaster and the assembling Jedi. Checking his armor quickly, he glanced at each of them, giving each a weary smile.
”Would anyone be so kind as to volunteer to take point?”

The hanger was a cacophony of assaults against the senses. Explosions, blaster fire, the smell of burned flesh. The screams, the curses, the rallying cries and retreat orders. Within his bubble, Moho strode forward next to others of his Order, deflecting attacks from his allies and ensuring that as few people perished as possible.
With a combination of Master Mynn and Erastothenes' efforts, the final, dug in Imperial forces were routed. In short order, the Republic forces took the space for their own and reinforcements moved in, setting up a perimeter and collecting the dead and injured. The Grandmaster moved toward the latter, approaching the medics rushing around in an orderly manner.
'Please, allow me to aid you, Moho said gently, raising one of his claws. A wave of Light Side energy swept forward from him, passing over the nearest wounded soldier. She grimaced as her arm, bent at an unnatural angle, popped and twisted. She braced herself for the pain, but only a cool sensation emanated from the damaged limb as it moved back into position. Flexed her arm and fingers, she found them as good as new; better even, as the fatigued she was feeling was also lifted.
Nodding his head to her, Moho moved on to the next soldier as the beachhead was secured, finishing up just in time to hear the communication of their next movements.
'I shall be with you again shortly,' the Grandmaster stated, now moving towards the Imperial prisoners. They had been surrounded and placed under guard, many of them bound. Some, the more heavily wounded, were laid out and ignored by the majority of the Republic forces. These were the ones that he approached, and they instinctively shuffled back from the mountainous figure of the old Jedi.
'Be at peace.'
The claw raised again, and an Imperial gasped as his collapsed lung reinflated. He coughed out a mouthful of blood, then his breathing became steady once again. Before Moho could move onto the next patient, one of the guards intervened.
'Save your energy for offing the enemy, Master Jedi. If they're too wounded to make it, do everyone a favour and just lop their head off with one of your fancy glowsticks; they'd stab ya in the back just as much now as they would before.' The man who spoke, a gruff looking individual with the stripes of a corporal, spoke roughly. Moho turned, his heavy bulk causing the floor to vibrate very slightly, looking down at the man in question.
'I am a Jedi, corporal. Not an executioner. And neither are you' Moho replied calmly. His amber eyes bore into the soldier's own, and the man almost flinched.
'They won't thank you. And if they'd won they'd be laughing over your corpse with a glass of some stolen drink, don't you forget that!'
'Perhaps. But we are not them, corporal. We are not them.' Moho's voice remained level, warm. 'To lower yourself to such an act is to debase the very things that are supposed to separate us from the Empire. And while they are our prisoners, they are also our responsibility. I would not allow them to die any more readily than I would let a wounded civilian.'
Moho turned back to the prisoners and resumed, the chastised corporal clenching his teeth and stomping back into his position.
'Jedi. This one is the closest to death,' one of the prisoners said bluntly, gesturing down to a blood soaked, unconscious man in Imperial armour. His youthful face was drained of colour, and the Prellian could feel the young man's flickering live-force fading away. He raised his claw once more, feeling the tattered insides all churned up, and set about putting things right. After a few minutes of intense concentration, the young soldier breathed freely once more, still pale but stable.
The corporal was right. No thanks were given. But the prisoner who pointed the boy out gave the Jedi a curt nod.
Big pictures are made up of an uncountable amount of smaller pictures. Changing a single picture will not change the galaxy. But it can change a galaxy for that one.
After a brief moment of triage, Moho approached his fellow brothers of the Order as they discussed their next move.
'It may be wiser if I were to stay at the rear of the party to support you,' Moho stated apologetically. 'The chances of the spaces becoming much narrower is high. It will become difficult to move past me if the need arises for others to do so if I were to proceed you all in such a confined space.'

Ash was a whirlwind of movement, mostly subtle twitches that were the sign of someone who was a master at using Form III in combat, and many blaster bolts that the man caught on his lightsaber or his massive sword were deflected back in ways that weren't supposed to harm the shooter. Wound, sure, but nothing as to outright kill.
Until he had to as soldiers began to rush him, maybe as their blasters were out of gas. Slashes with his lightsaber and slams with his sword were enough that when bodies started to pile up and writhe around that the Sith began their retreat from around Ash, and with the help of the other Jedi and the Republic, the Sith all retreated.
Tugging on the force, Ash began to pull the injured, of both sides, back towards the beachhead, setting them down gently for the medics and healers to tend to. Master Moho was there was there as well, healing. Ash couldn't help much for that, but he could keep himself going. He shrugged off a medic who came to check on him and focused the man towards the wounded.
"They need you more than I do."
Ash made sure his lightsaber was secured on his belt before removing the jetpack that was on his back, tossing it to the side, and letting his sword rest in its normal spot there. The crystal seemed to pulse gently still as Ash was still channeling the force into it, not as much as before, but if it were needed, Ash would have it.
"You four, go there and make keep watch. Don't want anyone catching us by surprise. Get a camera around and set up for added surveillance."
They needed to keep this place as safe as possible, and even if they were on the border of being kicked out into space, they were still about as safe as they were going to be.
"Master Ash, you big oaf, you made it out of this first scrap alive. I thought I would need to stitch you back together, or go get Master Moho to do it for you."
"Ha. Not quite that bad. Or did you I can stand at the end of a shooting line and come out unscathed?"
"That is a good point, my friend. Come, we're assembling over there."
Flus pointed up over to where a few Jedi were standing, so few for this assault, but the Jedi weren't a military force. Ash moved around as well, taking crossing his arms as Taas jumped down. When he asked for a volunteer, as thats what it was, Ash took as step forward.
"I will, if there are no issues, Master."
His bright blue eyes, tinged with a gentle ring of purple, barely noticeable unless you were looking, gazed at the highest members of the Jedi Order.

The smell of the after effects of battle were now apparent. The air tinged with the smell of many burnt things and leaking fuels of all kinds. It was a smell any veteran of battle learned to recognize but not notice. Something that was always there, like the Force, but could be unrecognizable to most. Or familiar enough that you stop realizing it's there at all until things calm down.
That was the moment, when all the fighting ceased but for a moment that Kellen realized war had truly returned. Even feeling the deaths happening out in space if focused on couldn't compare to the loss of so much life this close in person. His brows furrowed as he walked across the hangar. His blue eyes scanning the remains of those unlucky enough to be claimed for another purpose scattered around. Wounded men and women crying out for help. Republic soldiers eyeing the captured Imperials with disdain as the Imps glared back with seething rage.
It would be easy to lose oneself in those dark emotions. To give in to one's hate for their enemy. But Kellen remained impassive. He felt their emotions and understood them somewhat. But he could never undertake those dark thoughts and feelings. It would serve no purpose. And they still had a mission to complete.
Kellen nodded towards the same Sergeant who fought with him. leading his squad alongside the Jedi he placed his trust in. They were comrades now. Nothing makes a stronger bond than those forged in hardship. And war had plenty of that to spare.
"Good work, Sergeant. See your troops rested for what little time remains before our next offensive. Rally with your officer and the rest of your platoon. I assume they shall be receiving orders soon."
"Very well, Master Jedi. If I don't see you again, do know it's been a pleasure seeing you at work. Fine warriors you lot are. Good luck."
A small smile crept onto the Jedi's face at those words. Warriors. Something they were so against but yet a role they had to face more times than they could count. Not that he was against it. If anything, he approved of the fact that they served to aide the Republic this way. Peace was not always able to be forged through talk alone. And if a single Jedi and their skill set could aid in saving a platoon or even company of men and women by taking up arms, so be it.
As he approached the gathering group of Jedi he bowed his head slightly to his fellow Masters. While he recognized most, the man with the large sword he did not. Not knowing his place he simply gave a friendly smile. His hands crossed and interlinked behind his back as he listened. His determination to see their task through not showing on his impassive face. However, when master Moho spoke he couldn't help but smile. Having the Grand Master and his legendary abilities with the Force protecting them surely bode well for their effort.
"I shall think our efforts here to be all but assured with you watching over us, Master. A pleasure to serve alongside you all."
Kellen perked a brow at the sword wielding man's response to take the lead. Though he did not know him personally, he could tell he was able enough and just as set on doing his own duty. Nodding, Kellen spoke again. "Very well then, I shall be right behind him. It's best we press our attack while their forces are still pulling back to their next defensive line."

Forward, always forward. No wasted motion, no rest, no hesitation, no matter what. It was easy to get lost in the momentum and let thought be replaced by action. He felt himself push back against his wild sprint, for just a moment. Logic and motion won however, their tether on the situation dragging him behind like a child at the leash of a mastiff. Anything other than complete victory would not be accepted with this level of deployment. The best way to save lives is to win as assuredly and quickly as possible. He remembered the advice of a soldier as he pressed on. “The best battlefield medicine was fire superiority.” So be it.
Taas called for a vanguard. Taelros had no idea what military rank he held but he seemed in charge today and that was fine by him. He hadn't planned much of anything today, hadn't scene blueprints or floorplans or spoken to the other commanders to coordinate. Still everything felt very strange to him. He was a last second addition to the ranks, and his own briefing was near non existent. Something close to “Follow them and do as they ask, if they die try to break as many things as you can before you die.” He was a warrior sure, but he had spent no time a soldier and he and it hadn't got off on the right foot. Killing your kin for waring wage was one thing, but he hated the lack of clear context. As a jedi he was used to seeing the whole picture before taking his first step. It seemed he had to be in full gallop these days before he was allowed to know the next room. Unfortunate but his comfort was not required, so it would have to wait.
Taelros sprinted up to Taas, sliding at the last second past him and into the hallway with Mr. Ash. “Get ready” he spoke as he ran up to him. Taelros sprinted up the sloped circular walls and threw his lightsaber at the door, It's Cyan blade wedge in with an angry hiss. He finished his run in a circle above the saber, dropping down on the handle with both feet, driving the blade in the ground and unzipping the door to the floor. “As you will.” he said loudly back down the hall behind him.

Taas could not help but note the variety in emotions on display in the hangar. Those that came from the soldiers of both armies bore enough information to create an entire paper on battlefield psychology, of course, but what grabbed his attention were his fellow Jedi. The stalwart, optimistic acceptance of the Grand Master versus the the fervent excitement of Master Flus’s plus one. The hardened, strategic thinking of Master Kellen’s veterancy versus the one-step-at-a-time decision-making of Master Taelros.
That battle made all sentients similar simply wasn’t true. As with all things, there were a million different ways to reckon with an air of death.
So cognizant of their reactions, Taas paid little heed to his own, giving a silent nod as the Jedi took their marching order, Taelros at the front, Ash and Kellen racing for second, himself fourth, and Moho standing between their coming battle and their following marines. As they charged ahead, his mouth pressed itself somewhat more than he meant it to.
The resigned look of a man who had despaired the last war, and was watching the next be born before him.
Such lines of thought vanished as Master Taelros sliced the next door open, revealing the station’s arterial hall chamber. The core station support and industrial lifts stood tall before them, a variety of catwalks, conveyors, and shifting platforms for cargo shuffling sticking off the main spine every which way. The chamber proved almost donut-like, the walls rounded in a grand radius. Among each, paths once reserved for cargo haulers and utility droids now featured barricades of crates and bags, hastily-planted machine guns, and even a few sub-par military vehicles pulled out of some storage crate somewhere. Regardless of type, each embattlement was manned with Imperial soldiers in varying states of readiness, some dashing to their locations as their enemies appeared, others with their fingers on the trigger.
It was those latter soldiers that reignited the fever pitch of the day, bathing the newly-opened door in blasterfire.
Igniting his saber once again, Taas dared not progress out of the door itself, taking a moment to take stock. Before them, a flat platform reaching from their location to the central cargo lift would have offered a simple path had it not been for the half dozen Imperial barricades, each manned by at least a squad. Even if they could be moved, fire rained from the other platforms as well, the soldiers at each scrambling to adjust, attacking from above and below.
When he began to spot the panels near some of the conveyors, he hummed, making a decision. ”Please defend me for a moment, Grandmaster!” Falling in behind his elder, Taas raised a hand, eyes squeezing shut, digits rolling as if pushing some invisible buttons.
On cue, the buttons on one of the panels did indeed depress. The single conveyor it controlled shuddered to life with an industrial alarm blaring through a portion of the chamber, yellow lights flashing. The Imperials situated atop it scrambled anew as their makeshift barricades began sliding along the conveyor they were built upon, disappearing past the large roll-down industrial doors that were simultaneously shuddering open.
With another roll of his fingers, the doors to that conveyor quickly reversed course, reclosing as soon as the last Imperial barricade was swept back into whatever section of the station the path led to.
An entire conveyor’s worth of Imperial firepower harmlessly swept to the side. Allowing himself a tiny smile for that, Taas took a moment to breathe, opening his eyes and peering around Moho for the next console. He’d do the lot of them, if he could.

The Jedi contingent began to move forward once more, and Moho made sure to stick as close behind them as his large form permitted. He had to crouch down through some sections of the hallways and scuttle a little in a sideways motion, but he was able to get through. When they reached a locked door, Master Anthir wasted no time in getting it open with liberal application of his lightsaber, revealing the dizzying array of conveyors and catwalks within the core of the station. The large amount of Imperial soldiers soon sharpened the mind, however, and the Jedi in front of him moved inside.
Moho heard Taas' voice calling to him, and the old Jedi wasted no time in coming to his side.
'Of course, old friend, the Grandmaster stated calmly, before turning his head to the others. 'I will cover Master Erastothenes. Hold fast, protect each other. We must occupy the command centre as soon as possible.'
A fusillade of blaster fire came towards the Chief Librarian, and Moho swiftly moved his bulk in front of the Chief Librarian to shield him. Burn marks scored along his tough chitin, leaving black lines and groove marks on his head plate, before he roused the Force to action. A half bubble sprung up, covering the pair of them as Taas focused on whatever task had demanded his attention. The bolts hit the shield and, instead of ricocheting off, simply melted into it's surface as if absorbed.
When the result of Taas' work became clear, Moho gave the man a bright, warm smile. This is how Jedi act. I cannot be more proud. The Prellian cast his eye over the chaos, making certain that their brothers had not fallen into mortal peril, before speaking further.
'I see another console over there, young Taas,' Moho announced. 'Allow me to lead the way.'
And so the Grandmaster walked forward, and the might of the Empire's gathered forces could not shatter his shield as he defended his fellow Jedi.

Taelros heard something about mastering something called Erastothenes as he sprinted past one of the jedi and into the withering fire. It sounded like a fable about a hero named after pharmaceuticals. He hadn't time to process what was actually being said before the weight and impact of compressed plasma gas pushed him down toward the floor. The blaster bolts themselves did little to harm him but the volume he was being struck by did tremendous trouble to his stride. The ground around him warped and melted under the heat of missed blasts and filled the air with acrid smoke. He sprinted forward regardless, his head pushed down into a nearly blind sprint. Eventually he reached his goal, a control panel for one of the conveyor belts. He reached in and jammed his hand into it hard. His hand blew through the melted control panel leaving molten slag clinging his gauntlet still bright orange. Taelros shrunk back from in and spun behind a support strut to rethink his plan.
Clearly this had been a plan for telekinesis and not a mad dash and no matter how fast he ran he couldn't outrun the speed of thought. Across the loading bays belts either shuddered to life or there control panels exploded in hissing light shows, showing the varying degrees of adaptability from the enemy squads within. First tactical volleys fired with some measured success, but the entrenchment here was perhaps more than even those who planned expected. This had the potential to bog down. Taelros peaked around the strut and saw that the fire on him had been redirected at a force shield in the entrance they had used. He cocked his head a moment at the men above him before a guided missile tube was leveled at him, true enough for him to stare down the aperture. The force betrayed the shooters intent moments before he fired and Taelros flinched at the sight of it. "Fuck" he proclaimed simply.
Taelros grabbed the metal strut he had used for cover and swung around to the front of it, his fingers digging into the superheated metal leaving a bowed handprint. The force surged through his muscles as he sprinted up the support. The missile tore through the air in an exultant screech that sent a reflexive shiver down his spine he trusted the force rather than his eyes and jumped his muscled willed it, twisting and sailing through the air, just arcing over the missile. The triumphant screech of the propellant turned to a panicked wail by the doppler effect as the fin of the beast just brushed the underside of Taelros' thigh. It screamed and pivoted upward but it lacked the room to maneuver beneath the conveyor line. It crashed heavily into the bottom of the belt and detonated. The line shuddered and lurched upward in a swayed arch before plummeting down again, steel cables snapping and darting across the bay like flailing limbs grabbing on to anything and anyone that could stop it's fall, tearing steel and plasteel and flesh alike in massive awful fullers everywhere it touched. Taelros sailed through the air, propelled and torn by the explosion and skidded to a halt on top of a faltering belt, it's line ripped in pieces by steel cable. It swayed unevenly as the cables that supported it struggled with the now uneven weight. Imperial soldiers and heavy boxes fell from either side of the belt in equal measure. Taelros spun to his feet and quickly began to scramble up the remaining support cable to the support cable strung across the length of the celing and swung himself up on top, his feet perched on the bobbing cable uncertainly. He through his bloodied and burned arms out to balance himself and quickly made his way back toward the republic line.

Some crazy Jedi ally blew past Ash as they made their way to the next offensive line, which looked like a large loading or freight bay, with the Sith arranged in lines of freight, bags, droid chassis, and whatever else. Additionally, they were loaded with weaponry.
Ash made sure to be one of the first ones through the doorway, taking heat and letting his hands come up and absorb the blaster fire, before he switched to one hand and his left ignited his lightsaber to deflect bolts back. Behind him came the senior Jedi, Taas and Moho, and they began to do their magic. Ash simply provided another body to take the heat off. Quickly, fire was redirected to the other Jedi and Republic troops.
The one who blew past him earlier, Taelros, was causing his own destruction as a conveyor was torn apart in an explosion. Ash didn't see much of what happened but it was enough of a impact for Ash to switch from defense to more of an offensive position. Adopting Form III, Ash channeled the force into his right hand, getting ready to release it in a powerful attack.
With a loud noise, some conveyors began to move, sliding away to rid the Sith of their defenses. This was exactly what Ash needed. With the confusion of what was going on, Ash raised his hand and fired a bolt of pure energy, blowing into the line of retreating Sith, causing plenty more problems. Not many people liked a force user who can decimate lines with raw energy. A blaster turret emplacement that didn't get swept away opened fire on Ash, and the man blasted it with another blue beam, wiping the emplacement away and sending the few troopers flying away. It was doubtful they were still alive.
Some Sith thought they were being smart and charged towards Moho and Taas, blasters blazing against Moho's shield. Moving quickly, Ash intercepted them, swapping out his saber for his giant sword. With a single swing, Ash got two of them, and one of those flew into a third that was right behind him. He cleaned up the rest of the chargers before he fell back towards the Jedi Masters, adopting a defensive position again and aiding them while charging his body with the force once again. He was sure they Sith will grow more desperate and start charging and Ash was gonna play another line of defense while blasting away with his energy attacks.

Kellen moved forward with the rest of the Jedi task force. The door that was torn open revealed yet another rushed Imperial effort to defend their attacked station. Their defenses were hastily thrown together atop whatever rudimentary defenses were there before. But it was clear they were not prepared for a full offensive of this scale. And certainly not against this many Jedi.
His elder brothers, Masters Moho and Erastothenes were off in an offensive effort to dislodge the Imperial troops from their defenses. Master Taelros charged forward in his own effort to wreak some havoc, leaving behind Kellen and the unkown he had not yet met. In the face of so much blaster fire pouring onto them it was clear they were bottlenecked at the exit of this hallway and vulnerable to Imperial fire. So, Kellen did what he did best and took to the center of the hallway, igniting his saber and deflecting as many bolts as he could away from his ally troops.
While most fire seemed to be focused on the approaching trio of Jedi, enough heavy fire was still being leveled against the remaining two and the Republic troops caught within the corridor. It was time to even the playing field as much as possible with some practical effort. Kellen glanced over his shoulder and spotted just the person. A female officer with the rank of Lieutenant huddled against what little cover was to be found within the hallway, left by fleeing Imps.
"Lieutenant! Get your troops forward into a firing line. Stagger your platoon on each side of this hallway and have them stagger their fire by the squad. Keep it consistent against the Imperials. Any grenadiers are to target the machine gun emplacements and have your medics at the rear pull back anyone grievously injured. Let's get in the fight and take some pressure off Masters Moho and Erastothenes."
It only took a simple nod of acknowledgement from the officer. She already knew her basics and was thankfully humble enough to accept the battlefield advice from a experienced Jedi. Kellen wasn't sure she would listen but any decision is better than none at all. Within moments, the Republic troops were getting into position by the squad and the very next they were pelting Imperials with return fire from their position. This battle, and war as a whole, wouldn't be won by the Jedi alone. They were force multipliers for sure but still needed the support of the troops. Kellen knew this better than anyone.
With the platoon arrayed in positions around him at the center, they returned fire against the Imps. Coordinating their fire with other squads so that a consistent flurry of blaster fire was taking the heat off the Jedi charging forward. Heavy gunners and anyone with explosives targeted heavy positions and machine guns while medics worked to pull back any troops injured to the CCP in the hangar for treatment by healers.
Meanwhile, Kellen worked with the Lieutenant to coordinate the effort all the while his saber moved in a blur of blue plasma as he deflected blaster fire away. Calm, cool and collected. He awaited the moment the firefight swapped momentum and they would charge forth on the offensive.
