Prologue Bio: Was in the family line of King Ommin, a Naddist, thereby holding a slight affinity for the force, and the dark side with it. Varion lived on Onderon for a long time in the middle class of society etching out a living with his siblings due to parental deaths early on in his own life. When Varion was around 13 he was kidnapped to be sold into slavery by fallen Mandalorians. As a slave Varion would go without being bought at auctions for long periods on end. Then when he did get bought his owners would die putting him back into the slave market with a clean slate. He often found himself working for the ship that was transporting him until one time his owners died he was put on special ship.
The owner was a Jedi who was running away from the order. He identified himself as Astol, and took the boy as his own giving his name as the boy’s last name thereby creating Varion Astol. Astol took Varion to Korriban where he submitted to the will of the “Sith” and began his training there with Varion at his side.
Varion was a promising young student, but would often level out on certain abilities for weeks on end. Wanting to acquire power Varion naturally became aggravated and left the Dark Academy. In this time he traveled on his own for a month training himself to the best of his ability and simply surviving on the Outer Rim. Varion decided that he would need to return to Korriban to further his training and did so. Eventually Varion became aggravated again and this cycle continued for years each time Varion left he would be gone for longer periods of time. One time Varion returned to the Dark Academy and was confronted by a Master of the Dark side he recognized as Astol. Astol scolded and berated Varion with severe punishment. Taking the now 20 year old under his wing officially he trained Varion in methods to further his abilities and push him farther down the dark path.
Varion and Astol were assigned a mission in order to bring the Sith a large sum of money for their efforts. They would be going to Manaan where they would guard Selkath who were dealing with Exchange while the Republic was conducting a thorough investigation. What the job really comprised of was eliminating any Republic spies and detectives that were getting close to revealing them. Unable to refuse Astol and his Acolyte traveled to Manaan where they were put in secret rooms and given daily tasks. Varion could tell these Selkath hadn’t covered themselves too well as almost every day for a month Varion or Astol would have to leave and eliminate someone getting close to their truth. Varion didn’t mind because it gave him ample time to train and be trained by Astol in the ways of the force. One time Astol left early saying that he felt something through the force leaving the 22 year old Acolyte to train by himself. Now sensing something himself Varion left his room and made haste towards the source of what he felt. When he arrived he saw a Jedi kneeled over another Jedi and his own master, Astol, lying on the ground motionless. Varion himself wasn’t thrown into a fit of rage, but he was undoubtedly angry because he needed that anger in order to face his opponent. Varion revealed his identity to his opponent confident of his own victory and locked lightsabers. Varion felt himself gain the upper hand only to be repelled by a sudden renewal of strength on his adversary’s part. Feeling that his master’s death was not enough a reason for him to throw away his own death Varion fled the area leaving the Selkath they were supposed to be guarding in the hands of the Jedi.
Varion returned to Korriban, but not before stealing every last credit that was held to the group’s name. When he returned he was commended on his efforts by a fellow Dark Jedi. Varion felt the need to request a promotion, but was denied this by the Dark Jedi because the Dark Jedi felt that his inability to dispatch of one lone Jedi was proof he was not a high enough level to become a Dark Jedi. Enraged by this insult Varion drew his lightsaber and began fighting the Dark Jedi. The battle between the two went on for a long time without a victor being decided yet. It was long enough that spectators, fellow members of the Sith Academy on Korriban came huddled around the two. In one last ditch effort the Dark Jedi made a final charge to deliver a fatal blow, but Varion proved to outlast his adversary still holding enough energy to parry him. Varion struck at the now open Dark Jedi ending his life and proclaiming Varion the victor. The Headmaster who watched the event commended Varion on his display of battle-prowess, in defeating the Dark Jedi, ability to complete missions, when even though he didn’t guard the Selkath group he came back to Korriban with the money that was intended for them and more, and his mastery of the Sith Code, noting that if he was strong enough to defeat someone higher than him then they didn’t deserve the title and he did. The Headmaster granted Varion’s promotion and the former Acolyte thanked him appropriately. Varion continued to train and would seldom find himself as an Sith Assassin for hire.
