Jedi High Council

I am new to this site, and I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I believe that there shoul be limits put on who is allowed to claim their character to be on the Jedi High Council.

First of All-
There are already to many people claiming to be on the council. In Star Wars there are only 12 people on the council.

Secondly-
It would help in the RP and character bios if people knew who was on the High Council.

Thirdly-
Oficial High Council memmbers could be given the privilage of having extra or more abilities. However these would come at a cost- they would be bigger targets for Dark Jedi making it more likely for them to loose their character.

Lastly-
Now I am not saying that I want to be on the council (I really don't), or that someone has to remake their profile if they are removed from the council. They can just consider thatmselves on a minor Jedi Council, or were considered for a spot on the High Council, making them a respected player.

Erm, I don't know where you've been looking, but I suggest you check the active character list for the Jedi.

As you can see, only seven of the twelve places are actually filled. There are some High Council profiles in the inactive section, but once your character is moved into that section it is assumed you are not returning and thus your character is no longer considered a part of the council.

The thing is, most only have had their characters promoted to the council in recent years, although some have been teaching before that they will not have been on the council.

And Jedi High Council members are more powerful than other masters, being considered the twelve wisest and strongest Jedi in the Order, and most write this into their bios, which tend to be quite long. Although there is still the principle of limitation, not having a character be outstandingly good in every area.

So yes, I hope that clarified the situation for you.

also, there are about 4 councils each with x amount of members and then thereis the high council.. so infact there would be more than 12 with different chambers.. but that would get confusing and boring no doubt.

and ofcourse not counting the various other temples dotted around the galaxy with their own high council. Its just easier for us to have one main council otherwise it would take too long to actually get anything done lol

Is it not true that by the time of the movies, the only remaining Jedi Council was the one on Coruscant? I thought they had further centralized the Order after the Darth Revan/Darth Malak incident to prevent another fall to the Dark Side, which would have been an important point with the near-extinction of the Jedi Order in the years that followed. I'm not entirely sure about that point, but if it's true, it's reasonable to assume that such a thing would have begun by 3600 bby.

the council you saw in the films was obviously the high council..the grand over seers. even up until the clone was there were jedi enclaves on arkania, corellia and Dorin. possibly a couple more. The only centralised system came in the New Jedi Order era post empire.

we just rp the one council because its easier and quicker
