S.D. II - Arasoi

What's S.D. ?

S.D. stands for Shinobi Daicon, an RPG that my best friend
(let's call him Foxfire) and I developed. Well, I helped out in the
initial stages atleast. ^^; My friend runs the official version while
I (occasionally) run a variant storyline I like to call S.D. II.

Shinobi Daicon (and its variant) was based on several
animes, the most prominent being Naruto and The Avatar. Well, a
lot of different things fueled its creation: anime, books, video
games, etc. Don't dispair if you don't like the animes I mentioned,
the story definitely has an original feel, and no one
shouts "Believe it!" every thirty seconds.

I don't plan on explaining too much or starting from the
beginning or anything, I'm just going to jot down segments of
gameplay for fun. Wonder what my roleplaying history is? Well
now you have an idea.

Who's to blame for this craziness?

This shouldn't be a problem, but all credit goes to the game's
original creator, my best friend (Foxfire) whom I won't call by
name at this time. (Credit goes to me for my characters and the
other two people who've played S.D. for their characters.) This is
for the purpose of entertainment only, S.D. has no official
connection to any of the material that was used in its creation.
Please respect this and any other post concerning S.D. as the
intellectual property of its creators. Therefore, you are not
allowed to post this stuff ANYWHERE else or copy it. Shwew.

Note:

I love the sound of the Japanese language and so I've compiled
a little vocabulary list of my own. I will use some Japanese words
in these short stories. The translations could be slightly or even
completely off, obviously I wouldn't know for sure. The
word "arasoi" in the title means "to fight." I wanted to use the
word duel or battle but it's close enough. Most of these
little clips will probably be sparring matches or battles.

Ralen removed his kabuto (Samurai helm) and wiped
the sweat from his face. He let the helm hang off the back
of his armored colar and opened his arms as if to welcome the
cool mountain breeze. He was glad for the breeze as it swirled
through his hair, lifting the silver-white bangs away from the spot
on his forehead where they had been plastered. He breathed in
as deep as he could and closed his jade eyes for a second. The
mine had taken forever to navigate through, and while he
preferred solid ground, he didn't prefer it to be packed in all
around him like it had been in that godforsaken maze.

Ral dusted at his armor -Retsuto- and removed his travel
pack. It clanked as it hit the ground, reminding him of its
contents. His pack held sets of shuriken and kunai, packages of
both flash and explosive tags, smoke bombs, rations, and a coil
of razor wire. Such items were considered universal staples for
students of the shinobi nations. Such a student would hardly be
found without their pack after they received the rank of Genin
and earned their headband. Ral was no Genin though, he wore
no headband and had never attended a class to learn how to
control his chakra. His skills had been honed by war. And yet
here he was with this group of ninja, chasing down an escaped
prisoner, a bloodbender nonetheless.

Ralen's thoughts were interrupted as he realized someone was
calling to him. He looked up to see Bo waving him over. The two
had met before but only very briefly, and a lot had been going on
since then. Bo was seated on one of Nos' crude stone benches,
not very comfortable but it did well enough in a pinch. The man
was squinting, something was making him uncomfortable and it
wasn't the bench. Ral gave the older man a slight bow and noted
the fact that Bo was still taller than him, even from his seated
position. "Hai Bo-Sensei?" ("Yes Master Bo?") Bo returned the gesture
with a nod. "What was your name again?" he asked.

"Watashiwa Midori Ralen." ("I am Ralen Midori.") Bo didn't look his best,
he looked drained. Maybe it was the mid-day sun, but the tattoos
that covered the man's body didn't appear to be glowing like they
usually were. Ral chose to keep these observations to himself,
he would wait until he knew what it was Bo had called him over
for. Bo almost chuckled at the young man's curt response, he
was a soldier alright. "Midori clan eh?" The youth nodded in reply
and waited for some kind of comment to follow, but none came.
Instead, the big man stood up and grunted, rolling his shoulders.
Ralen stepped back to give him some room - the seven foot mass
of muscle would need it. Bo pointed a thumb at himself and
indicated his dulled body markings. "I need some help to recharge,
whaddya say?" Ral grinned. "A spar? Sure, sounds fun."

It is good that ones are wanting to share my work. S.D. is just one of many games I started, although only a few know about them. Journies is the core of most all of my starting sci-fi with the ending being the start of all other games. S.D. is one I am most fond of.
