Vex was quiet while the creature spoke. Droids could be very human and there were times that many almost seemed to think of them as people. Normally, the Dark Jedi was not one of them. However, listening to the exposition that this little droid...who looked nothing like a human...gave to him, he wondered about the validity of his views. The automaton certain spoke and acted in a way far more self-aware than most of his kind. It made Vex wonder just how much modification the soldier had done.
"And therefore, made yourselves traitors as well. Regardless of what we know about the false accusations against Aunna, she has been convicted as a traitor and enemy of the Republic. By that extension now, so have you if anyone should learn of the part that you played in it. The inquest will be very efficient. Your Republic has much experience in practicing witch hunts against those they consider a threat...and you were not exactly subtle in the part you played in our escape. Security most likely caught video feed of your actions."
Vex paused for a moment, taking a deep breath through the rebreather as he allowed the droid time to start taking this all in. He knew it wouldn't require much. "I assume that your model isn't exactly blessed with a wide distribution and you have a very limited list of authorized companion types. Couple that with the fact that our escape was assisted by well-placed sniper fire and that will narrow it down even further. Even the Republic will not be so blind as to miss the implications..."
Those robotic optics would not miss the lift of his cheeks as the Dark Jedi smiled coldly beneath that mask. "By doing what you felt was right, you are both now enemies of the Republic. Unless your...friend...disappears soon, I'm afraid that he'll find himself in a situation very similar to Aunna's...but I doubt they'll deliberate as long in his case."
Vex sighed then, staring out of the viewport to the darkness outside. "To be perfectly honest, little robot, I have never had the desire to be an enemy of the Republic. It has, however, always conspired to be an enemy of mine....and now you. Unless your sniper is very, very lucky, I am fairly certain that he'll find himself very, very dead."

Even the droid couldn't help but feel uncomfortable as Vex smiled. When a normal, gentle, non-Dark Jedi smiles, it looks alright, but when someone excelling in cruelty and suffering dons such an expression...
Then there were the words he spoke. It was all too true. There weren't many of his model around, and though they were nearly exclusively issued to elite marksman, it still narrowed things down fairly sufficiently. Sean didn't have much of a chance.
I'm aware of the implications. However, he's honored as a war hero, for wounding you and revealing Aunna no less. Surely that evidence would dissuade them from persecuting him. He always told me that one of the greatest things about being a sniper was that you could get away with your actions without almost any immediate repercussions. Even if they recognized me, he would find away out of their hands, I know it. The droid cocked its head in thought as he spoke.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he's still assisting you as we speak, even if we are not aware of it...

10...9...8...7...6... Sean counted to himself quietly from outside the small shuttleport. 5...4...3...2...1...
There was a muffled thud and several alarms blared from within the compound. Overhead, the Spyglass smoked from the crevice one of the radar dishes had once occupied. The craft wobbled unsteadily as it descended back towards the shuttleport. Sean put on his best concerned look and joined the multitude of uniformed figures running to assist.
As he ran past a security station he overheard two of the guards speaking, "You saw the recording! It was one of our AER's, I'm sure of it!"
The other one shook his head, "Nah, you must be mistaken, those are only given to our very best. Only marksman who have really shown prowness on th-"
"Like the one who took out the reinforcements?"
Both sat speechless for a moment as the two minds clicked together. Sean instinctively lowered his head. This was not good at all. He'd forgotten about the cameras. He had to get out of there, quick.

"You had best hope that you are correct, little droid. If you are capable of hope. There was quite the body count left in our wake... Aunna took no Republic lives, but was sentenced to death for saving mine. I do not doubt that your friend, as decorated as he might be, would face a quicker and more vehement response...especially if he is still near that detention center. People there lost friends because of the actions of myself, you, and the sniper."
His mouth quirked up a bit at the creature's words and he shrugged. "Well, for that then, I am thankful. I'll hope that the Force will grant him a death as quick and painless as might be allowed. Regardless, his fate matters not, for we cannot help him. Best to rest and then work on our next course of action."
