Name: Raito Wareru
Race: Shistavanen
Age: 26
Height: 5 feet 6 inches
Weight: 148 lbs
Appearance:
Birth place: Uvena Prime
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Knight Sentinel
Bio: Raito was born in a time of darkness on his world, Uvena Prime. There were many clouds that day, with rays of light protruding forth from the sky, hence his name, meaning "Broken Light". In the early years of his life, he was normal. By Shistavanen standards that meant intelligent, resourceful, interactive, and the ability to improvise. At an early age, children are taught never ever to use their claws, as it is a sign of primitiveness, and like the Selkath or the Wookies, if they did use them, they would be considered as outcasts for the rest of their life.
It wasn’t until he accidentally pushed another child off a cliff that things started to change. He was being bullied and his heightened emotions triggered his untrained force powers, which were so underdeveloped, he was knocked unconscious after the accident. It was by mere chance that a Jedi was in the area, being the mediator in a feud between two families.
The Jedi brought Raito before the Council and they decided for him to be tested. He was approved and sent to the academy, with a little less than a warm welcome. A jedi student, who overheard everything, that was about to become a knight, was uncertain about the Council’s decision, and he kept a close eye on Raito as he continued to grow. Through hard work and determination, Raito learned. And, he became a very skilled youngling.
During a training session, Raito accidentally injured another youngling, and that youngling was too frightened to pick up a light saber again. It was mere coincidence that the youngling was from a family that viewed Raito's race as mere animals. The knight, Atan, who was there at the time, thought that it was more than a coincidence. During his investigation, he came to the harsh realization that there was nothing wrong with Raito, but Atan could not leave his uneasiness, or rather anger, towards the boy.
In the Room of a Thousand Fountains, during night, the knight cornered Raito and demanded answers, harshly. In the end, the master chucked Raito across the room. Another knight, Pirt Neer, who happened to be wandering the temple seeking solstice, came to the defense of Raito. It went like this:
“Tell me! Why did you do that to the student?” demanded Atan.
“It was an accident!” Raito replied harshly.
“That is a lie. The boy’s family hates your kind,” sneered Atan. “That’s perfect motivation to do what you did. Admit it!”
“NO!” said Raito. “I did nothing!”
“That is it, you insolent little maggot!” Atan used the Force to hurl Raito across the room, into various planets and such. Raito groaned and got up. “If you think that this is over? Hardly!” Atan continued to play, with Raito the only one getting dizzy… and hurt. By the time Atan stopped, he had multiple bruises, he had a cut over his left eye, blood gushing down, and an arm, looking ackward. “This is it you filth! Admit it!” Atan’s light saber jumped to attention, its orange haze looking lustfully for blood.
“That’s enough Atan!” a voice called out from the entrance. A small light seemed to glow around her body, and to the bruised and bloody Raito, she looked like a goddess.
Atan chuckled. “I will strike you down too!” He leapt at Raito. The woman used her speed, and the Force, to navigate Raito away from harms way. Her own lightsaber, a silvery yellow, came to life. “Do not worry Raito. I will protect you.”
The two knights engaged. They both were formidable fighters, each skilled in different styles. Atan, a Makashi user, and the woman used a hybrid form of Ataru and Triszest. The woman leapt and jumped using a traditional form of Ataru, but suspended herself in the air for mere moments longer, making her moves unpredictable. Where she learned this advanced design of aerial combat, Raito didn’t know.
It wasn’t until Atan, by a lucky punch, knocked the woman backwards, did Raito feel the need to do something. He lunged at Atan. “Not a chance!” Atan said, using his arm to bat Raito away.
Even those few precious seconds were enough to get the woman up. After more blows were exchanged, a ckracking noise could be heard. Atan broke the woman’s wrist. Seeing that, Raito was enraged, on the edge of feral. He knew that she was being put in harms way because of him. With a snarl and his claws extended, and ran at Atan and knocked him out. Since he was already tired from his previous fight, he was no match for the feral form of Raito. When the woman saw this she whispered, “No… Raito calm down… don’t do this…”
Slowly he came out of his state, his claws retracted. “I’m so sorry… What is your name?”
“Pirt,” the woman replied.
“Pirt,” he repeated as he started to faint. “Kill me…”
When he woke up, he and Pirt had very intense discussion. She had told him that it wasn’t his fault at all. But he could only reply with tears, saying that he had become primal. He further explained that as was his custom on Uvena Prime, when he used his claws in combat, he was to be exiled from the rest of his society. After the Grand Master talked with him, he seemed better.
Later, it was found out that during the Atan’s childhood, before he was admitted into the Order, his father was a pirate and was accidentally killed by a Shistavanen. The master was demoted and he was severely punished, but wasn't expelled from the Order. It turned out Pirt Neer, a female Jedi Knight, was looking for a Padawan and she chose Raito.
For eight years, they went on numerous missions from investigations to patrols, from hunting pirates to smugglers, from protecting senators and politicians to working undercover. During that time, Raito grew. He made his light saber from a pontite crystal that they acquired while out in the desert to talk about peace to the sand people. The light saber had a creamy white glow that was unique.
When they went to Tatooine, they had to stop skirmishes between the Sand People and the people of Mos Gamos. They were currently on a speeder, rented from a shop in the city, traveling across the border, patrolling and trying to figure out what to do. “How are we going to stop them?” asked Raito. “It’s not like we can go to them and say: ‘Hey can you stop doing this? Thanks!”
“Ha ha very funny,” replied Pirt. “So according to the mayor, the Sand People have been using guerrilla tactics on them for the past month, without any provocation on their part. I don’t believe the mayor… Sand People don’t attack unless they’re attacked first.”
“Again, we don’t even know the language! How are we supposed to communicate?” asked Raito.
“I think something might work…” Pirt said with a glint in her eye. They went back and rented a protocol droid and brought it to the outskirts of the Sand People Village. They had to give up their weapons and have their hands bound to enter. The leader of the Sand People appeared to be glaring at them, but the really couldn’t tell since all the people were covered from head to toe.
They were captured, since the disguises weren’t that good… They were brought before the chieftain. “Tell him we mean them no harm.”
The droid turned towards the chieftain and told him in Tusken. The chief replied back. “He says that you will be executed for trespassing into their lands when the chief explicitly asked the mayor to stop sending raiding parties.”
“Yes!” said Pirt. “Tell him that we’ll stop the attacks if he lets us go.”
The droid turned and conversed. “He doesn’t trust you, but he has no other choice.”
Through extensive uses of credits and contacts of various persuasions, Pirt was able to uncover some dirt on the mayor. “How are we going to confront him? It not like we can say, ‘Hey, he’s a lying piece of –!’ Right?”
“That might work…” she grinned.
“That’s your saying… isn’t it?” asked Raito, grimacing. “Let’s get to work.” It was when they actually confronted the mayor that they had problems. “Holy mother of –!”
“I knew you weren’t true Jedi, so I ot some backup!” said the mayor, sneering. Three HK-60 models were surrounding the two Jedi.
“Raito on my signal, run,” commanded Pirt, her light saber humming to life.
“No can do! I’m not ‘bout to abandon you!” he said, his own white blade coming to life. He took a second before the HK fired, drew the droid closer and cut it in half. The other droids fired, multiple times. Pirt rushed to defend her student. She managed to deflect most of them, but one grazed her thigh and one connected to her shoulder. She cried out in pain. “Master! Master!” ‘Stay calm,’ he told himself.
He jumped up and twirled over one of the HK droids, decapitating one. He growled, baring his fangs, and took out a frag grenade from his pouch. ‘I hope this works,’ he thought. He grabbed Pirt and, when the droid was about to fire, he threw the grenade right in front of the blaster. The droid fired and was decimated. “That’s how it’s done!” After Pirt regained consciousness they detained the mayor, and got about 10 moisture vaporators and gave them to the Tuskens.
The Tuskens thanked them by giving the team of Jedi a pontite crystal, which was the exact crystal Raito saw in his vision and finally completed his personalized light saber. After the mission, he looked into the HK model series and got an HK-64, which travels with him as a droid companion. He went to Telos IV in search of the old and abandoned HK Factory. There, he sliced into the computers and found one of its last shipments to a store called Droids by Joanna on the planet of Taris, which was still being rebuilt.
Traveling to Taris, he landed in the Upper City and sought out the store. It was owned by a Twi’lek named Joanna, who was, unknown to Raito, the grand daughter of Janice (from KOTOR). It was there an old, never used, model of HK-64 was met by its future master. The first words it said were, “Query: Master, when do I get to shoot things?”
At the age of 24, he came across Zenoma Sekot, when his master was on a separate mission, and was met with a small unit of Yuuzhan Vong warriors, and a special ability he has only been able to use once. He was taking a break from all of his Jedi duties and was wandering the galaxy, mainly the Unknown Regions. With HK at the control, he was currently asleep. “Urgent Statement: Master! Master, awaken!”
“What?” Raito asked sleepily.
“Urgent Statement: An unidentified ship has appeared and is firing at us! Our shields have been drained by and unknown source and our hull is reaching maximum temperature,” replied HK.
“Move, let me take the controls,” said Raito. He managed to dodge the meteor’s, which was what it appeared be, munitions. “I’m going to land on the planet. Put all power into engines and divert power from front weaponry to rear shields!” It was a rough landing, but they landed, the meteor not far behind. “Come on HK let’s go!”
“Query: We are running?” asked HK.
“Yes, we have absolutely no understanding at what’s pursuing us, so the logical course of action is to run,” he said, exiting the ship, HK close behind. A hollow thud rang clear around Raito. A bug had just flew past his head, barely missing it.
They turned around to see two odd… people, it seemed like, coming forward with erect snakes in their hands. One said, in a harsh raspy voice, “Phahg! Nang-hul guvvuk! (Damn! Thud-bug missed!)”
“Eia dag lightsaber, Duman Yaght, yenagh doa Jeedai! (He has lightsaber, Duman Yaght, he is Jedi!), ” the other one proclaimed. He switched to a highly accented from of basic, “We are Yuuzhan Vong. We come to scout planet. You die Jeedai now!” The two Yuuzhan Vong surged forward.
Using the Force, he hurled HK out of the way and his lightsaber sprang to life. He continually parried the unusual blows, trying to adjust to their foreign style. ‘Shavit!’ thought Raito. ‘At this rate…’ Long into the battle, he had sustained numerous wounds, a couple of them more than minor injuries. As he blocked another strike, his mantra came to mind.
‘Peace is all around us, as is passion.’ He slowly became peaceful. ‘Through peace I gain tranquility.’ He became more fluid in his movements. ‘Through tranquility I gain knowledge.’ ‘These are Yuuzhan Vong, an extragalactic species centered around war and violence. All of their weaponry is organic. They are disconnected from the Force, so they cannot be read. Do not feel them, feel the things around them to perceive their movements, and only then can you achieve victory.’ ‘Through knowledge I gain strength.’ He started to bend the air and things around the Vong to hinder them. ‘Through strength I gain understanding.’ He came to realize everything about the Vong’s movements, their breathing, their reflexes, everything. ‘Through understanding I become the Force.’ He let himself go and let the Force control him. His power instantly grew exponentially.
He willed the air around one of the Warriors to move the Vong forward. With one swift Force jolt, the alien was out. Next, Raito rapidly ran forward, catching the one called Duman by surprise. Using his hand-to-hand combat skills, he incapacitated Duman. Then, through over exertion, he fainted leaving HK to bring them to the Ascension.
It was after Raito woke up that the Vong pronounced him worthy and they decided to not invade, saying that at their current state, they wouldn’t succeed anyway. After reporting this incident to the Council, he was awarded Knight status. Pirt, being from a royal family from Onderon, got him a small fighter, which was for his personal use only. They’re, in the present, the best of comrades.

RP Sample: Raito sniffed at the air. It was raining and he was losing his prey's scent. His ran his hand through his wet hair, separating the clumps. He was on a mission to track down a leader of a small smuggling gang and disband it. He had tracked the smuggler, Jarec Uore, an Ithorian, to the planet Manaan, but he had lost his scent when he left the cantina. He couldn't have gotten far, so Raito went to the Hanger Bay to check in with the security cameras.
He found that his target took a shuttle to the Smuggler's hideout. He asked the Head of Authorities, Kith Bardos, if he could borrow a shuttle. Kith promptly said, in Basic, "No. You have to take it up with the High Council. I think they'd be intrigued to know that a law breaker came here recently. I'm just sorry we missed him."
"Thanks... I think," Raito replied in rough Basic. He went to the High Council Chamber to get a warrant to take the shuttle.
The Head, a Selkath named Hiwan, said, in his own language, "Judges present: Hiwan."
“Jergun," stated another male.
"Ithone," said the female.
"Tergo," replied the other male.
"Hibune," said the other female.
“Hiwan switched to Basic and said, "Raito Wareru, as you know, Jerec Uore passed through here... and he wasn't apprehended. The head security guard will be dealt with. Knight Wareru please do us the service and capture him."
"Of course," replied Raito. He bowed, took the warrant and headed back to the hanger. One heated conversation and a crash course in flying a shuttle later, Raito was on the shuttle. He passed over the ocean and soon he saw the base appearing in the distance. Using false codes he attained from the Selkath High Council, he landed at the base.
"Stand down and prepare to be escorted in," said the voice on the comm system as he landed. "You will hand over your weapons and give us your full cooperation."
Raito opened the ramp and stepped out, hands up, with light saber in hand. He was surrounded by a multitude of species with various types of guns. "Throw your light saber here Jedi!"
"Can't we just talk about this?" Raito asked. "Let's just sit down and be -" he was going to say ration, but someone fired. His light saber sprang to life, batting the lasers away into the guns they were fired from. In a flash, almost all of them were unarmed. He used Force Illusion to knock each of them unconscious by making them see things that would scare even the best of men.
As he walked to the door, he sensed a danger. He jumped. There were concealed turrets. He knew he could not go through the door the normal way, so he improvised. He used his light saber to cut into the hallway. The halls were pretty empty, except for the occasional guard. Soon, he found the main bunker, where the last of them were hiding. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a beacon that would signal the Selkath Patrol Forces to come.
After activating the beacon, he opened, excuse me cut, the door and entered, batting away all the fire. Jarec's three guards were unconscious and Jarec was cornered. "Okay," said Raito. "Let's try this again. Can we be rational?"
“If you call me holding a thermal detonator that could kill us both rational then okay," Jarec said in Ithorian, waving the detonator.
Raito sighed and, in a flash, the thermal detonator was flying across the room and it was cut in half, deleting it from the equation. "How about now?"
"I surrender," replied Jerec. After they got Jerec into custody, Raito went to the hanger, politely growled at the Head Security Guard and took off. HK was at the helm. "Statement: Welcome back Master," said HK-51.
"Hey, I'm going to sleep..." replied Raito. “Plot a course for Coruscant; I need to report the success of my mission to the Council."
"Sigh," replied HK. "Statement: Fine, I'll awaken you if anything unusual occurs."
------------------------------------------------
They were abruptly pulled out of hyperspace, and Raito was awakened. "Statment: We are being attacked by the smugglers. Ironic Statement: Looks like you missed some."
Raito slid into the pilots chair and said, "Shields failing. HK get on the guns! Turrets online. Engines at full. Life support on full."
"Statement: If I had eyes, I'd roll them," said HK.
"Shut up," growled Raito. "Just shoot." Raito cut the engines and got behind one of the pursuers. With one button and a missile, the smuggler was a little less than space dust. He opened the comm system, "Break off pursuit or I will be forced to turn you to space dust."
"After what you did to my brother, no way," came the gruff Ithorian reply.
"Jerec was your brother?" asked Raito, confused.
"No, that wasn't Jerec. That was my decoy! Now die, Jedi scum!" He cut the comm.
Raito barrel rolled and increased the thrusters. He did a 360 turn and the last thing Jerec heard was, "Sorry."
