As soon as she was set down Italia crouched, nearly kneeling, one hand touching the floor. Chuckling nervously at Ark's words, she let out a mild groan and drooped her head. That...was not an appealing thought. Getting used to being picked up, for Italia, was like asking a person to get used to being bit by a kath hound...it was possible, but not at all something one could do easily, or willingly. Calming a bit, she managed to stand up once more, letting out a nervous little laugh.
Eh....heh....yeah. Sorry about that. I...I hate being picked up. It frightens me for some reason.
She told the cyborg, only then did she round on her brother.
And you! Don't you laugh! It's not funny! Do you know how embarrassing it is to have a fear of something like that?! I mean really! The term "Mandolorian" doesn't exactly lend itself to conjuring up images of a fully grown woman panicking because she's been picked up.
Lia hung her head then. Her voice had gone from angry, to frustrated, and finally ended with shame. Some mando'ade she was, afraid of something so simple as being picked up...and she didn't even know why! It was disgraceful. As Ark mentioned the armor, she sighed and slumped slightly. She shouldn't have even been wearing the armor she had on...wearing something even more mandolorian would just be a joke, an offense to the soldiers and warriors she came into contact with.
I...I couldn't wear it ba'buir. I've not earned the right.
She stated simply, folding her arms across her chest.
....I should go....I have to go get the Ghost Star and bring her here still....

As Ark put the two of them down he was still laughing internally at his sister. Her reaction to his laughter only made him put up his hands in surrender. he couldn't help it. If she kept going that direction it was possible that he would crack up again. True a Mandalorian wasn't supposed to have such fears but the fact that she did made her more unique as a person. At Ark's request he could only shake his head. The armor, while more protective, limited his movement. As an assassin he had to be able to move normally in every situation.
I'm sorry Ark, my line of work won't allow me to accept your gift. Besides, for something that carries such a mark of honor behind it it would be a waste for me to wear it.
It was one of his more humble moments, Itani knew this. If Ark had been anyone besides his grandfather he would have taken the armor, sold it to the highest bidder at the nearest pawn shop, and spent the credits repairing his ship. But this, this was obviously not the time. Looking back to the hangar entrance he felt incredibly homesick, as in his ship.
Ba'buir, Lia, I must bid you good night. Tomorrow is an important day for all of us and I still need time to gather myself from this.
He said, motioning towards the hulking Cyborg. Without trying to be sneaky he walked from the hangar giving both his sister and grandfather a lopsided farewell.

"I believe your line of work has changed greatly Lat, Trust me you have not heard the last from me on this." he said to the retreating boy's back before turning to lia. "As for you." ark said softening his tone greatly. "Everyone fears I've know mandos afraid of heights and everything else proud, strong, honorable mandos. I myself am afraid of a certain small furry animal." Ark walked away from lia as she finshed speaking. "Bah, earned this earned that can't a mandalorian ever just accept a gift a plea?." the Cyborg let a long deep bellow slip from his vocabulator. "Go, and wake."

Lia hadn't been expecting any of his words...least of all his upset words and the bellow that followed. Pressing her lips together, she shrank back slightly before standing tall once more and walking over to him. Swallowing her fear, she raised her chin slightly.
Ba'buir. I'm sorry I offended you. If it means that much to you, I'll gladly accept the offer...I would be a fool not to.
She stated, standing perfectly still beside him. Lia wasn't sure if she should reach out to him or not. Obviously she'd caused more harm than good with her words and she wanted to make it right, but...she wasn't sure how.

Ark leaned deeply into the Table. "You didn't offend me." the cyborg said slowly lowering his shoulders. "I..I apologize I just." sighing ark turned back to lia and looked in her eyes. "In my day, a father, mother, grand father, they all waited hopefully for the day when they would see their child march to war clad in the armor of their fore fathers." Ark ran his massive hand over the face plate of his armor before lifting the helmet up off the table. "I've waited centuries to she that I'm afraid I may have became impatient in my wait."

Lia listened silently, her green eyes locked on the cyborg as she absorbed the information. It hadn't ever seemed to be that way with her parents...had that tradition died out? Perhaps her family just had the wrong idea or didn't know of it? She ran a hand through her hair and sighed as she watched him. The emerald green of her eyes had darkened during her thoughts.
I didn't know that ba'buir. I suppose I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to those things....it just...never seemed to be a big deal with my parents. None of us were fans of war though, being farmers, so I suppose that it just...didn't seem....ugh, I don't know how to explain that.
Italia walked over and leaned back against the table so she could look up at him, her face one of deep thought, a bit of the frustration she felt at her ignorance showing through. The young woman's eyes searched the cyborg for signs of his emotions...a futile attempt made out of habit, but she found that body posture could convey emotions as well, and it was this she tried to decipher now. After a long moment she spoke again, her voice low and serious.
I will accept your offer ba'buir. It would mean more to me than you could possibly know...*sigh*...that is why I didn't feel I could accept in the first place. I hold you in high regard, family or no...it didn't feel right for me, someone untried and...well...let's just say I didn't feel that I could accept something so meaningful from you because...
Again she found herself stuck on what to say. She'd tried once during her explanation, but had failed. Upon trying again, she found herself at a loss of the correct words once again. Lia gave a frustrated look and folded her arms across her chest as she struggled to find what to say.
I don't know how to explain without this sounding horrible....I suppose that I feel that because of my...ignorance?...and my more peace and life loving personality, not brave or willing to go off to war for reasons I don't know or agree with just because someone says I should....I don't see myself as what a Mando'ade should be. I didn't want to dishonor you somehow....
God that had sounded horrible....it had come out correct, she supposed, but it had just sounded...awful. Lia turned her face away and down, her eyes resting on the floor, afraid of what his reaction might be.
I'm sorry...I know that sounds really....horrible....but...that's how I feel.
I just hope that...well that you won't be too mad at me for saying that...I don't want to lie to you after all, and well...you deserve to know why I did what I did...

The echo of electromagnets, the uttering of words often in mandalorian, and the sound of tools being used echoed off the walls of the metal hanger. Ark Fumbled slightly with the hydro spanner with his slim four fingers as he attempted once more to finish the installation of components in the body of a old kit protocol droid so he could leave this trap of a room. Ark sighed as he lowered himself and placed the tool on the table before absentmindedly rubbing the area just between his photoreceptors. Ark shifted his head to look at the hanger door before calling. "Enter, who ever it is."

Lia had finally excused herself from the three mandos she'd met in the halls and had come straight away to Ark's hanger. It was odd, hearing the mando'a in a different tone than the one she'd come to associate with the large cyborg, and she wondered what he was looking like right about now. She also wondered just what the blazes he was doing. Knocking as loudly as she could with bruised knuckles, Lia received the okay to enter and did so. It didn't take long to find Ark, but what she saw surprised and disconcerted her.
A pod, roughly the size of her torso, dangled from the ceiling, the head of it shifted in her direction. She paused for half a moment and sighed before continuing on toward him. Looking between him and the droid, she tilted her head to the side slightly before looking directly at him and smiling a bit.
Hi ba'buir. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to come and see you sooner...I had to deal with the farm and the collectors.
She sighed slightly before brightening up again.
Hopefully things will be going better though. I got a message from Mandalore himself today, saying that military personnel who need some disciplinary measures can work on the farm...and...and he wants to meet with me about the Ghost Star.

"Well, you clearly haven't been properly treated." ark said with a sigh as lia came into view. Turning he slid along the track farther into the hanger. "Well, come on" he said gesturing her to follow into the relatively poorly lit hanger space. "Youmight as well close the door and stay a while." Turning again he looked at his great grand daughter. "Why haven't you had a kolto treatment I'm sure you could have gotten a free one, if not I would have happily funded it." he said lowering himself down over the droid. "Come over her please I could benefit from your fleshy hands for a moment or two trying to get away to leave my little sterile prison."

Lia chuckled slightly and followed him, taking in the hangar bay. It was odd not having him looming over her like normal, but she supposed this was just a temporary fix. The woman sighed slightly as he asked her about the kolto.
Well, no ba'buir, I needed ta pay an' as it was both Itani's an' my earnin's from this went straight to the farm's needs an' the debt collectors...which reminds me that I need ta buy more chickens. Half our coup was slaughtered today by some rabid mutt got in there.
Anyway...
She'd slipped back into that comfortable country slang as she walked over and stood beside him, looking down at the open and partially gutted droid.
Do my best but my hand's ain't exactly up ta par ba'buir.
So anyway, besides the money, I just didn't have the time either. 'Tween Itani, Daryn and myself it's been tough work to get it back up to even bein' able ta raise low water crops. Good news is this...both Daryn and Mal have paid for a kolto treatment, much to my protests but...and...well...
Italia paused for a moment trying to decide how to phrase her next set of information.
Ba'buir, I need to know how ta greet someone like Mandalore. I just don' have the slightest idea an' that's a BIG problem right now. See, Mandalore not only sent me a message today sayin' that the military personnel in need of some 'reminders of the alternatives to military service' would be helpin' with the farm but....he's asked ta meet with me about the Star and possibly makin' some modifications to 'er. I don't wanna look a complete fool and end up dishonorin' myself, or the clan, or mum, or you...

"hmph, chickens?" ark said reaching down to lift up part of the droid's motive system. "Just make sure you get to the kolto soon, I'll have to have a stern talk to those mando'ade about charging soldiers for it." Ark could be seen shaking his head. "What a disgrace." he sad bitterly before brightening his tone. "In my desk." he said pointing towards a desk along the far wall. "Are a few hundred credits take them consider it a much belated present for your mother." ark looked at her hands as she spoke before lifting his showing her the four finger claws. "I'm sure their better than mine." he said with a laugh. "Connect the relay, er the box with the two blue cable bundles to the box below it please." the almost hovering droid bodied cyborg stopped looking up at the girl as she worked. "Who's Dayrn? a friend I hope." he said shaking his hand and looking back down before nodding at her question. "Well it's nice that this mandalore shows some care for the people unlike some of the impostors who have popped up of the last few centuries. You greet mandalore as you would any superior and vod, after all he is not a god though some seem to forget that." ark let out a slow sigh. "I suppose I will have to speak with him that will be....enjoyable."

Yes, chickens. Act like you've never heard of chickens before ba'buir...
She waved off his grumbling about the kolto with her good hand, the left, and gave a light chuckle. Following his instructions, she pulled out the credit chips and put them carefully in one of the pouches on her belt.
I'll be sure ta tell 'er.
Lia chuckled slightly as she eyed his 'hands' and shook her head. Right about now she was wishing she had his instead of hers; thankfully the pain medication she'd taken not too long before had started working. It didn't do much more than dull the pain, however, and so the young woman was wishing that she'd not taken to running out her anger after her the encounter between Mal and Daryn earlier.
Yes, ba'buir, he's a friend. He came with another mando'ade and myself on a hunt once. Proved to be a decent guy...mouthy and annoying, but decent enough for an smuggler from the core.
She had a difficult time, getting her typically nimble hands to do as she wanted because of their injuries, but eventually she set herself on the right track to being able to connect the relays to the proper outputs as she spoke.
His ship got caught in a dog fight 'tween some pirates and our fighters as he came outta hyperspace to set the next jump. Had ta land for repairs, so I got him a fair price, and accidentally ended up gettin' 'im a discount as well. That was the day we got back, so almost two weeks ago I guess? Either way he helped me out that day, gettin' us the feed we needed for the farm 'cause I didn' have it at the time, the givin' me a ride back to the farm with it an' the tools.
He's been helpin' out on the farm and runnin' passengers and freight when 'e can on the side. Been a big help actually...
Her voice trailed off slightly. Just what DID she think of Daryn? Especially now after he and Malak had had it out in front of the medical facility, causing her no end of embarrassment and anger and general unpleasantness.
Yes...I suppose he is, but ba'buir, I'm not part of the military, and I've not ever learned to greet anyone with anythin' more'n a handshake or a bow. There.
Finally done with the connection, she pulled her hands out carefully and waited for further instruction.

Ark laughed as lia mentioned chickens. "I'm afraid my dear that despite my long life farming is not one of my experiences." As he spoke he reached down attaching the cables he could manage up into the droid before raising his eyes back up as lia opened his desk. "but yes I know what a chicken is, feathery animal that lays eggs." Ark bellowed out a sigh as lia returned to the operating table "A smuggler, what exactly have you been doing in your previous life to need a smuggler." shaking his head he looked back down to the droid. "I suppose it doesn't matter that is behind you, no?" ark grumbled to himself before finally speaking loud enough for lia to hear. "I'm going to have to go yell at the repair faculty too apparently I can't believe he's getting charged anything to fix the military's own stupid mistake." he bellowed anger clear even in the synthesized voice before he sighed once more. "I've racked up a good number of people to go yell at haven't I." he said somewhat wearily. Once more ark wished smiling was one of his catalog of movements. "My dear it sounds like he may just have a crush on you." Shaking his hands out he tilted his head at lia before looking back down to the droid and closing the back panel. "A bow may be a bit much, but safe I suppose is better than not. After all you don't have the luxuries I do." finishing ark hefted the droid off the bench and onto the floor. "Now, lets see if this worked. Stand by in case I fall the last thing I wanna do is fall on "my" face in front of my grand child." With the flick of a a few switches and a bit of focus ark found his view shifted and he was indeed rather wobbly. "I always hate a new frame."

She chuckled again and shook her head.
Yeah, well, we get money from sellin the chickens and the eggs. It wasn't good wakin up ta find a rabid in the coup. And yes, a smuggler. I'm a merc, ba'buir, I do all sorts of unsavory jobs, smuggling included. As for why I needed a smuggler...well I didn't need a SMUGGLER per say, just a pilot. He was lookin for work, I needed a second hand at the controls, everyone benefited.
Lia cringed slightly as his angry voice echoed loudly against the duracrete walls of the hangar bay.
Oi, ba'buir...that hurt. You're louder than ya think ya are.
Anyway, no shoutin' at them or the medical staff. Though I agree with ya on their idiocy, it just ain't worth it. As far as him havin' a crush on me...hmph. Maybe, but I don' see what good it'd do 'im, specially since I'm so miffed at him and Mal right now. Those two were arguin' an' tryin' ta start a fight with each other outside the medical facility and actin' like right ad'ika.
She nodded as she moved over to the droid and stood beside it, ready to stop it should it look about to fall. It was wobbly, but it didn't seem ready to fall...not yet anyway.
Ba'buir....you...offered me the use of your armor. I...well I was wonderin' if that offer still stood?

Ark choose what he believed the most prudent course of action when lia spoke of her mercenary past, namely keeping saying nothing. Simply shaking his head and nodding he ran as best he could through the checklist in his head noting that many things where simply offline or failing. "well of course they are this is the most jury rigged thing you've ever built." he said to himself. Ark's avatar's head snapped to look at lia. "Huh? I didn't quite get that dear lost in my own mind I suppose, happens with old age." Ark shook his head and laughed slightly at lia. "Yes, well maybe it's not wort the time to you, but me, well I certainly don't have anything better to do with that time." ark sighed as he tentatively took his first few steps leaning on the edge of the bench.
"I hate to tell you this lia, but that is something you'll just have to deal with as long as their both here, it's simply what happens when two men with a crush on the same woman are in proximity. As fo-" ark basically crumpled to the floor when his foot wasn't were it was expected leaving him staring at the floor and floundering. With a few minutes of rather intense mental work he had atleast managed to sit up. "I hate getting used to a new frame." Ark sighed before looking at lia. "As I was going to say as for malak well I haven't spent enough time with him to know this, but I know many mandalorians have a great deal of distaste for "outsiders"." Ark looked at lia almost plaintively before speaking. "I hate to ask this, but, well I can't get up on my own. As for the armor well after the last mission like I'm leaving you the option."

Lia chuckled and shook her head slightly as she listened to him. She'd been about to say something along the lines of "but that's no excuse" when Ark's droid crumpled. The young woman jumped at the happening and let out a light grunt as she watched the thing struggle for a moment as she listened to what Ark had to say.
No, I know most of them don't. I wasn' exactly thrilled when I met him either...and I'm sure Daryn's smart mouth didn' help matters.
She sighed slightly as she stooped to pick up the droid as best as she could. Lia winced, the pain shooting through her various injuries lancing through her like a thousand different claws. Finally she helped the droid up and leaned against the work bench.
No, I didn't think you would be giving me the option, and I would be foolish to not have asked, but you're not giving me the option and I am asking. Anyway, you're getting a new frame, right ba'buir? This thing will never do.

"No, no it won't." ark agreed with lia's observation on his current condition. "In all likely hood the strain will fry to motive system within a few hours, but yes I intend to speak to mandalore about the, well, issue." Ark crossed his arms in a unconscious movement before turning his head to look at lia. "But yes, I would be happy to have you wear my armor as well as itania should you seem him first he doesn't get a choice either." Ark chuckled to himself shaking his head. "I'll stuff him in it if I have too." he laughed before shrugging his shoulder and looking at lia almost sheepishly. "And you'll have access to whom in my humble opinion is the best armor smith on concord dawn." He said before lifting a arm to put it around lia's shoulders. "Namely me." he said laughing.

Lia chuckled slightly. Yes Itani would need armor also....at least she thought he was coming on the next mission. She sighed slightly and shook her head slowly, attempting not to hurt herself further. She gazed at the droid quietly for a moment.
Have you ever met Mandalore before, ba'buir?
Green eyes traveled along the room blindly as her mind worked to sort out just what might happen in her meeting with the Mandalore. She would have to thank him, obviously, and there was the matter of the Ghost Star. Italia sighed, sending a pain through her ribs and lungs that made her want to cough. Luckily she didn't...it would have only made things worse.
I'm nervous ba'buir....about meeting him...
The arm around her shoulder was odd, being smaller than she was used to from him, but she welcomed it anyway.
I'll be sure to tell the butterbrained assassin next time I see him....but...can we work the armor here?

Ark looked up at his grand daughter as she chuckled before shaking his head. "Not this one, but I have met some of his predecessors for better or worse." He said before sighing as he pushed the droid up more vertical the leg actuators of the poor droid groaning in protest. Ark looked at her once more gripping her shoulder tightly. "Don't worry ad'ike it will be alright I'm certain of it." Ark looked around his hanger after her question. "Well, maybe I'll have to see if I have the proper equipment stored away, But hopefully I do and we can." he said before shaking his head and shifting his tone to a sad bearing. "I'm afraid I need to go speak to mandalore now dear, I can't trust this form much longer." he finally removed his arm from lia's shoulders and moving towards the door with a distinct drunken wobble. "You can wait her if you like and we can continue talking though considering the lateness of the hour you may wish to consider going and taking a rest."

(( From the briefing thread...
Notes: Lia and Ark did most of the shaping work, then she took it to an armory shop for the tech updates and working out any kinks in the armor as well as some new coloring for it --she would have done it herself, but time on the farm and making preps for the mission has kept her kinda busy-- I'm assuming, however, that she's been to see Ark several times due to having to work on the armor and then after that, just to see him once or twice.))
As for getting him down the cliff face without many noticing….I have an idea, but it’s only a rough one. It should work though…and if this frame is like the last one at all….I’m pretty sure I saw thrusters on it. If so it should be enough to get him down from the Star quietly….well, heh, relatively quietly anyway.
The sounds of their footfalls through the metal and tile halls of the base were even and steady, Lia easily keeping pace with the taller man through years of practice at having to keep up…first with her father, then her brothers, then Rish, and after that all manner of tall or lanky beings she worked with, worked for, or tracked. As they passed along the halls, there were more than a few looks given to the pair, though all of them either were attempted to be hidden, or swiftly drawn away. Though none of them were malicious, the attention made the young mercenary anxious, and she wasn’t sure if she would rather put her head up and defy them all, or hang it and feel like she was in trouble…so she settled on something in the middle. Feigned ignorance.
As people saluted to the man she walked beside, Lia found herself out of her depth and wishing for nothing more than to either vanish or shoot something…perhaps both. Too much attention! No wonder he doesn’ mind talkin’ to me, it’s like I’m one of the few people who treats ‘im like a person! All of this attention is makin’ ME anxious an’ it’s not even directed at me! How’d he ever get used to this? As they reached the less busy halls near the hangars, she let out a quiet sigh of what might have been relief. It tended to be difficult to tell with Lia just what her various sighs and sounds meant.
You always get so much attention?
A light snicker escaped her to keep the tone light hearted.
You must have to beat the women of with a stick with all this attention you get. Really, I’m surprised we’re not wading through them at this very moment! Perhaps we won’ have to do any work at all on Shogun. Just toss you in there and let the good looks and charm take care of half the problem. Thing is…who’d we toss in to distract the men in the base….
Lia seemed to ponder the thought seriously for a moment.
Maybe we won’ have ta toss in anyone else….just you. Hell, give another speech like that last one and the men might be all over ya also. You’d have their whole base distracted an’ we wouldn’ have ta do anythin’ more than slip in, pick pocket a few choice people, shut their grid down, plant some charges in the artillery an’ run.
It’d be gettin’ ya back from all the women that’d be the problem though….
No, on second thought, I don’ think I like that idea….
Only after she gave him a teasing little wink did she realize just what that last sentence had sounded like. Well, it sounded like what it was honestly, but she wasn’t about to admit that to herself or anyone else, so she swiftly and smoothly amended it.
Far too dangerous. You’d end up with all types of things missin’.
Lia had realized too late that, yet again, the phrase “haat o’r an nuhune” had come back to bite her in the rear. There had been more than one truth in those jokes of hers. Maybe I should give up jokin’ around? Obviously this wasn’t REALLY going to happen, but the fiery little warrior certainly considered the thought for a moment. Just ONE moment. Odd as it was, she was beginning to see a trend in her thinking and feelings toward the older man, and it certainly wasn’t one of father/daughter. In fact, there were some not so child friendly thoughts from time to time involving him. Hellfire, I’d likely be skinned alive if anyone ever knew I thought those kinda things ‘bout him! And thus began the long stream of internal cursing that likely would have made even Solus’ad blush slightly.
Even as they rounded the corner and stepped into Ark’s hangar, Lia could hardly believe she was actually FLIRTING with him. Just what was she thinking?! Sure, he certainly seemed to return her interest, but really…sometimes she just read too much into things. Other times she didn’t read enough into things. Pushing this from her mind, she grinned brightly at her, still pod-ified, ba’buir.
Oi, ba’buir! I hear…see…you got your frame. It still need work then, since you “weren’t” at the briefing?….camera hijacker.
She chuckled a bit and headed through the large, now familiar, room toward where the cyborg was.
