Bio:
Nelgakai Sei'lya was born a son of the prestigious Lya Bothan clan, which made their home on the beautiful beaches of the planet Kothlis. His mother, Grea Sei, was a scholar, professor, and interpreter for the Bothan Diplomatic Corps, and his father Rugakai, a stern, inflexible captain within the Bothan military. An only child, Nal's early childhood was blissful, yet disciplined, due to his father's unyielding desire to groom him for military life. His mother, however, was not content with his son eventually becoming a simple-minded warrior for unknown causes, like his father. She began to furtively school him on foreign languages, diplomacy, chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
With little time left for play, knowledge of his own planet, beyond his estate, was close to nonexistent. Nevertheless, his curiousity for the wilderness eventually compelled him to abandon his studies for a while every day, to play in the earth and sand that surrounded his house. Even though Nel worshipped his mother,
and adored learning from her, he felt most at peace during those swift moments outside, surrounded by wind, earth and sea, sentiment he frequently expressed to her. A beautiful garden grew under Nel's daily care, around his house.
Some time after his fourth birthday, a delegation from the Republic arrived, meaning to recruit Nel's mother, Grea, for an advisor position among the senatorial entourage. Unaware of this, Nel tended to his garden, until he noticed a cloaked figure emerge from the ship bringing the politicians. He could feel something strange emanating from this being. Like a whisper, but a whisper he could feel through his entire body, not frightening, but certainly unsettling. He watched closely as the cloaked creature did not follow the rest of the delegation inside the house, but headed straight for him. Finally, Nel could see his face. It was a Human, the first he had ever seen.
After quick introductions, and compliments payed by the Jedi in regards to Nel's beautifully tended garden, the first word he had never heard was uttered by the human: Midichlorian. Nel was not entirely sure what happened after that, but the next time he saw the jedi, he was discussing the possibility of taking Nel from
his mother, to Coruscant. Grea and Rugakai, familiar with the procedures of the Jedi, eventually conceded to the human's request, but Nel did not, or at least not immediately. Ultimately it was decided Nel would come to the jedi temple in Coruscant, and train in the ways of the force.
Nel's training as a youngling in the temple was standard, with the exception of his telekinetic and telepathic prowess, which seemed to be growing by the minute. And also, by his love for plants and wildlife, which could not be nutured in a planet-wide city, like Coruscant. However, when Nel was 9 years old, he recieved
a present from someone he did not know. Someone called Bnai Err. While obviously suspicious, the fact that the jedi in the temple were not alarmed by it, suggested it was safe to open, so he did. Inside, was a small pot full of the richest, most nutritious soil Nel had ever seen, and buried deep inside, the seed of a pygmy Cholganna tree.
A little over a year passed and, as the Cholganna tree grew, so did Nelgakai, learning all he could from his many teachers in the temple, and his many friends among the younglings, until the day a datapad arrived, bearing the name of his benefactor, Bnai Err. It explained, that Bnai was in fact a jedi master, living in the forests of Cholganna, that he wanted to take Nel as his padawan learner, and he should come to Cholganna immediately. Although he felt overjoyed to be chosen as a padawan, he also felt somewhat confused as to the nature of his future master. Most masters picked his padawan, and transported him from the temple to the chosen training grounds, but this was not the case. Instead, he would have to fly alone to the outer rim, to meet his master there. Uncommon, yes, but he had been taught not to dwell on thoughts like those.
It was not an easy task, but eventually, Nel finally booked passage to the forest world, aboard a small freighter, evidently equipped to handle, and capture, a particularly ferocious beast, native to Cholganna, called a Nexus. He hated having to travel such a great distance surrounded by beast smugglers and poachers, though there was nothing that could be done, as long as the ship was still in space. Nel, however decided on an attempt to sabotage
the vessel's engines, so the hunters could not leave the planet with their catch. Finally, the ship came out of hyperspace, and landed in small clearing in the forest. Immediately after landing, the poachers left the ship virtually unattended, leaving the small Bothan alone to wreak his havoc on the ship's engines, but, even before he could start, the poachers ran back to the ship in terror, screaming something about a huge walking tree.
Nel ran out of the ship, just before the poachers turned the ship around and fled the planet as fast as it could take them, and started cautiously walking towards the forest, hoping not to run into the walking tree that scared the poachers off the planet, but he did. The giant tree walked towards the petrified youngling,
but after a series of contorsions and twitches, the tree did not appear so threatening. Even a face had sprung from the series of movements, a smiling, inviting face. It was a Neti. Better still, it was master Bnai Err.
Following the necessary introductions, Nel's training began right away. His master, being a Neti, could not handle a lightsaber as well as other beings could. In fact, he could not even move as other masters did, which obviously explained why he requested Nel traveled alone to the forest world. His master being a sentient
plant, also explained why he chose Nel as his padawan: His affinity for flora. For the next few years, master Err cultivated Nel's development in telekinesis, telepathy and his preferred force expressions: Plant Surge and Evironmental Alteration to a masterful level. Also, with the aid of a training holocron, he created his first lightsaber, mastered the Shii-Cho, and learned the basics to the Niman form.
Almost a decade after their first meeting, master Err anounced to his padawan one morning, that his training under him was complete. To continue his training, he should seek out his friend, jedi master Corella Olgun in Dantooine, who would complete his training in lightsaber combat. As a parting gift, Master Bnai Err presented his padawan with a brown, oddly shaped crystal, and a slice of tree bark from the eldest tree in Cholganna. This last gift, a way for him to always be in touch with nature, he used to cover his lightsaber hilt.
He was 19 years old, and strong in the force when he met his new master, but Nel had still much to learn. Under the strict tutelage of master Olgun, he became quite dexterous in Makashi form, while continuing his schooling on force control. With his new master, Nel traveled the galaxy completing assignments for the regional council
in Dantooine. One of which, landed them in the middle of a territorial dispute between dueling crimelords in Malastare. They were commissioned to end the dispute as peacefully as possible, but the conflict escalated, and transformed into a gang war. Battles raged on the streets of Port Pixelito, leaving most of the city scarred and the families homeless, yet while protecting one of those families, in an attempt to get them out of the city, Nelgakai recieved a blaster shot to his left thigh.
Master Olgun's healing abilities, while not enough to fully mend his padawan's leg, were enough to stop the bleeding, but she knew Nel's leg would have to be reconnected through prosthetics. Nel was placed on the next available flight to Dantooine by his master, who stayed behind to complete their mission. In Dantooine, Nel was
prepared for surgery right away, and after several hours, he merged, with a 4 inch long hunk of circuitry, connecting his thigh to his knee. Because of this, he felt his connection to the earth, and the force, somewhat diminished, together with a growing fear, not knowing what had become of his master, when he failed to aid her.
Days passed, and not a word had arrived explaining his master's status. He felt powerless and frightened; he left her alone, and now, he felt he had to go get her back!
The council, however worried they were for Corella's fate, decided Nel would not go to Malastare in search for his lost master. He would remain in the enclave in meditation until his master arrived. Needless to say this did not make the young Bothan happy, but ultimately, he fell back onto his training, his knowledge of the jedi code, and patiently waited for his master to come home. Several weeks later, Master Corella Olgun arrived back at the enclave, unscathed, ready to make Nel's training complete. 6 years had passed under Master Olgun's tutelage, when she, joined by his former master, Bnai Err via hologram, deemed him ready to withstand the trials of knighthood.
The few weeks before his audience with the council were... stressful at best for young Nel. While waiting for his day before the council, he felt assaulted by familiar thoughts of failure, doubt and fear. For days he suffered while his meditation was constantly broken by these particular thoughts. They haunted him, and maddened him, but remembering the lessons of the forest he learned from his master; patience, stillness of the mind and body, like the trees, he found himself conquering these feelings. When his day before the council finally came, he felt ready, and after bowing down to the council, and introducing himself, his trials commenced.
His trial of skill, demonstrated his telekinetic control, and environmental alteration abilities, by swirling 10 of the chairs in the tirals chamber around him, and creating an electrical field in front of him. One by one, the chairs passed through the electrical field, and one by one, they were destroyed. It took a great deal of concentration from Nel, but it truly demonstrated his control of the force abilities, however, although it was a superb performance, the council still required a combat trial. A simulacrum was programmed, and with his dominion of the Makashi form, it was not long before the trial was over.
Afterwards, the council explained how, by enduring the pain of the shot he recieved, and the succeding surgery, his trial of the flesh was completed, and by releasing himself from the fear of his master's fate, and heeding the regional council's decision not to go after her, his trial of spirit was also complete. He had passed his
trials. It was delared Nelgakai Sei'Lya would be knighted by means of a formal ceremony, in the hall of knighthood 3 days subsequent to this event, and he should spend these days in meditation.
Finally, the day of his ceremony arrived. Eleven lightsabers blazed in the dark room, as the Grand master of the time swung his own, and snapped Nel's padawan braid off his head. He was, from then on, a Jedi Knight. The day after his knighting ceremony, he found himself staring at his, for the moment, green lightsaber, and decided his new life as a Jedi knight, warranted a new lightsaber. For days he perfected the parts he needed, shaped the lens
curved the hilt, to acomodate his Makashi style, and carefully constructed the mechanism, but the heart and soul of the blade: the focusing cyrstal, was still missing. Eventually, Nel remembered the crystal that was given to him as a partig gift by his first master, shaped it, and mounted it inside the body of the lightsaber. The new saber was beatiful in its craftsmanship, yet covered in the same Cholganna tree bark as his previous one, and produced a Bronze colored blade, like none other he had ever seen.
Nelgakai's life as a Jedi knight was somwehat odd, due to his unique skills with plantlife. He was often sent to moons and planets undergoing toublesome terraforming processes, and excelling at it. The terraforming of the planet Amthau in the expansion region was greatly helped by Nel's abilities, however, though his skills with flora were outstanding, he was still a fair lightsaber duelist, and a highly capable diplomat and scholar. After 5 years of completing assingments for the council, Nel decided to meditate for two more years, before taking on his first padawan.
When he emerged from his years in meditation, Nel felt ready to relay his knowledge of the force to the next generation, so he left for Coruscant, in search of his first padawan. He roamed the classrooms and training chambers of the temple, searching for a possible padawan, until ultimately, he chose a small male human from the planet Eriadu, named Eylen Criss. His decision was first accepted by the jedi council, and after consulting with the
youngling, it was decided he was to be trained in Dantooine, home of Nel's own master Corella Olgun. However, it was also determined they would train with little contact with the enclave, to maximise Eylen's communion with nature, and the force.
From the beginning of his training, Eylen showed exceptional promise in environmental alteration under his master's tutelage, and he was slowly becoming a competent lightsaber duelist, but his abilities with plants were somewhat unfruitful. After 8 years of training, it was obvious Eylen's skills were not tied to nature, as Nel's were from childhood, so the focus of their training changed slightly, to accomodate to the padawan's skills. The following
5 years of Eylen's training focused entirely on Environmental control, and lightsaber abilities, while completing assignments from the regional jedi council, both locally, and off-world.
Most of the assingments completed by Nel and Eylen played to their combined strengths, controlling the environment around them, and Nel's ability to control plant growth. Missions to aid the terraforming of barren worlds, to make them habitable, were abundant. However, it was the missions with promise of confrontation that appealed the most to Eylen's tastes. It was clear Nelgakai was no longer the right master for Eylen, and a more combat-focused training was the next step for him. Fortunately, he knew who to turn to: His own master, Corella Olgun. After a heartfelt goodbye, the two parted ways, leaving Eylen in Dantooine with master Olgun.
Nel decided to spend the next 4 years in training, polishing his abilities in the Niman form, before even considering taking on a new apprentice, yet after those 4 years, he did not feel he was ready for another padawan learner. 2 more years he spent in meditation, until the day a datapad with very exciting news arrived. Nel's former padawan, Eylen Criss, was considered ready to face the trials of knighthodd, by master Olgun. However, she required Nel's approval before sending him off to Coruscant. Of course, Nel believed Eylen was ready to face the trials.
Days after, Nel recieved word that Eylen had passed the trials, and was to be knighted within the week. A joyous occasion for him, meant he would go to Coruscant to witness his first padawan become a knight, but that would not be the only reason. When he arrived at the temple, he was met by an emissary of the council, informing him he was being considered for a position in the Council of Reassignment, due to his knowledge of plantlife. Nevertheless,
this was not his reason for being on Coruscant right now. He knew his former padawan would be in meditation the days prior to the knighting ceremony, so Nel, once more, roamed the hallways and chambers of the jedi temple.
After his former's padawan knighting ceremony, Nel accepted the position among the council of Reassignment, and spent 3 years among the other masters, commissioning the jedi service corps, especially the Agri-corps. He had become a well respected master within the order, leading the council of reassignment for one year, before he was summoned to the high council chamber, one fateful day. As he walked into the chamber, the room was silent. Nel bowed his head at the masters in the room, and as he rose, the grand master announced Nelgakai Sei'lya was now a member of the high council. Nel, in absolute shock, bowed down to the grand master and the other council members, and slowly walked
to the seat the grand master showed him to.
A new chapter of Nelgakai's life is about to start, as a member of the high council of the Jedi order.

Under the glaring eyes of the council members, Nelgakai sat down in meditation position, gathering up his concentration for the demonstration ahead. His trial of skill comprised a manifestation of his dominion of the force, unlike anything he had done before, and doubt rose to his mind.
"Steady your mind, padawan" said one of the attending masters, feeling the young Bothan almost overwhelmed, but Nel allowed the doubt to dissipate within his mind. The padawan took a few seconds to gather his composure, and the demostration was underway.
Still seated in quiet meditation, he hovered about 4 inches above the floor. A few seconds passed when unexpectadly, a chair started to float around him in a counterclockwise direction, flipping horizontally when on the left side, and vertically when on the righ side of the room. Following, this display, another, and another chair flew up and followed the same pattern, until 10 chairs described the same shape.
After the furniture danced around the room for a few laps, a slight cracking sound started to generate in front of Nel. Suddenly, the humidity of the room dropped to slightly short of nonexistent, and gathered where the cracking sound emerged, creating a small, dark cloud. Air swirled and moved around inside the cloud, aiding elgakai, generating enough electricity to form small thunderstorm, and through it, an electrical field powerful enough to kill a man,
if it were touched.
Nel, still in deep concentration then begun to direct the chairs still dancing around above his head, to the ball of lightning cracking in front of him. Wind gusted all around the room, as the chairs closed in on the electrical field, Making them extremely difficult to control, but Nel did not lose concentration, and with one final motion, he thrusted the first chair into the ball of lightning, destroying it completely, leaving only burnt splinters on the floor.
The nine remaining chairs met the same fate, one after the other, in perfect coordination, until no chairs were left. Slowly, Nel fell back to the ground, stood up, and bowed down to the awstruck masters in the room.
"Padawan, you have shown exceptional control of your abilities. Congratulations, your trial of skill is over. However, you are still required to take a combat simulacrum. Take some time to regain your strengths, and come back when you are ready."
"Yes master. I will be back shortly", replied Nel, letting out a small sigh of relief, after a job well done.
