Name: Lance Versallis
Race: Human
Age: 27
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 167 lbs
Appearance: Devilishly hansom. Polished in the finest material possessions from the top of his honey brown hair to his lustrous rancor hide boots.
Birth place: Coruscant
Profession: BactaCorp junior CEO / Hutt crime boss
Bio: This playboy of thug life has lived what seems to be a golden life. Lance was raised comfortably by his mother and father, Relina and Jace Versallis. Together the team nurtured and provided for the boy any and all necessities of life. Jace was a family man and worked for a luxury shipping company. His views of the father figure prevented him from attacking the corporate ladder. He worked hard for his money but couldn't spare the time away from home to get a promotion. This did not dishearten him as he made enough to support a stay-at-home mom and a growing son.
By age five Lance had developed into a chubby adolescent. The Versallis lived life as any normal family on Coruscant frequenting the local markets. While his mother shopped for the groceries, Lance would explore. He visited the different vendors and observed the merchants. Particularly he noted how the different species managed their businesses. Some races mingled with their customers, some crafted elaborate displays showing off their products. It was in this fashion Lance received his first lessons in business. Vendors who interacted with customers of their own species acted very different toward customers of a different race. So a dependence on other cultures was instilled early on the boy. If you were to succeed in this Galaxy, you had to be able to mix well with other species.
He soon grew bold enough to speak with shop owners and employees. Each interaction Lance tried to learn everything he could about the business and what each being did in their duties. He noticed the importance of education while Also he spoke to each being about their homeworld and life there. In his eagerness for development he tried learning a bit of each language he came across. By the age of ten he was quite fluent in Twilek, Huttise, and Basic. He dabbled in others but most of the activity around his home was dominated by these three languages. The differences intrigued him. How a Twliek would answer you if you asked him a question in Basic or in his native language was remarkable.
Three years later Lance was faced with a choice. He had finished primary schooling two years early and was either to enter a general education university funded by the local government or attend a specialized university. It was clear to Lance what he wanted but he could not afford private schooling. Lance, unknowingly, began to harbor a hate. Not toward his patents who lacked the insight to plan for his schooling, but their average lifestyle. They had provided for him, for that he was thankful, but they had never exceeded what was required of them.
So he did what any business man would: network. He began his search for a sponsor. He had heard that some companies offered tuition payment in return for contracted work once they had settled into school. What he found was a helping hand in the form of Koltovaters Inc. He applied and top marks in general school earned him a spot in the program.
His goal was a premiere business college that pumped out galaxy spanning entrepreneurs. Unfortunately his age prevented him from applying to the school. Their minimum age requirement was 15. This did not diminish his dream, he would just have to wait for it to come true. He spent these two years working for Koltovaters Inc. and chiseled two years from his 4 year contract. These years were fairly cut and dry. Spend nights at home days at work. Like his father he preformed grunt work. Filing data and research disks. Cleaning up after night shifts. Cut and dry.
In his last interning year at the Koltovaters Inc. Lance began reading some of the case files. Apparently the use of Kolto was fading. Most likely this was due to rapid harvesting by the Republic. There were those who called out for alternative medication. As of now there was one alternative, Bacta. Though now, it was rare and expensive. Koltovaters was now funding surgical procedures in combination with Kolto that would limit Kolto use and hopefully revive its healing potency. On his days off, Lance would still go into work and watch some of the experimental procedures. He picked up on some of the terms and surgeries but he noted that still, the result was not that of Bacta. Or Kolto before the potency drop.
But this life had a way of moving on. On his 15th birthday he applied the Capital University of Galactic Business. Solid grades and hard work at Koltovaters Inc. granted him an interview. The interviewer, a Twilek female, holding an interview in her own language granted him a slot within the school. Instantly Lance was cast into a world beyond his imagination. Up until now he had been protected, sheltered. At school he was suddenly free. Free to make his own choices, plans, and friends.
In his first year he met the first real powerful influence in his life. A senior named Nivero Tanlor. They met in an advanced Huttice class. Normally this class was reserved for upperclassmen because of intense demands. After all, if you were to make it in Galactic business, you had to be fluent in the Galactic business language. Nivero had big dreams and enjoyed telling anyone he could about it. He had heard about a realitivly new healing agent, Bacta and Bacta products. With Lance's experience with Kolto and the new experimental surgeries the pair had plenty to talk about.
Lance sailed through his first academic year again earning top marks. In classes where he did no do so well his schmoozing skills took over. According to his transcript, he was at the of the Freshman class. Lance attended Nivero's graduation and sadly said good bye to the being that showed him what a party was and introduced him to a 'night life.' But the pair did not part ways without making a deal. Once Lance payed his debt to Koltovaters Inc. and finished school he would have a job waiting for him. Nivero would spend his years out of school starting his own business. A Bacta synthesizing company under the name BactaCorp.
Lance would stay with Koltovaters Inc. and grow a steady supply of capital. As the price of Kolto drops and Bacta's dominance rises, Lance would shift his money to Nivero and he would use his fathers money to purchase Koltovaters Inc. and start one of the first Bacta manufacturing plants. Then together they would rule the competition. This plan would take careful timing and a lot of credits. Nivero was sure it would work but Lance was always skeptical about the amount of Credits required to pull this off. But he kept his mouth shut and went along with it.
Three years later, not 19, he had graduated, naturally at the top, and was a senior manager of three Koltovator Inc. sites. Nivero was still in the structuring work of the business and was not ready to merge with Lance. This worked well for Lance as he had not grown the kind of wealth he had hoped for. There was also something else he did not expect. Already a Bacta creation plant had been made and was beginning to slowly grow recognition. Lance, however, was not ready to give up on this dream. Nivero had already worked so hard and he didn't know what other options he had left. This Bacta thing, it was his ticket away from his 'luxury yacht selling' job. While at Koltovater he saw him working for something that would never mean anything, just like his dad.
Lance studied the competition, they were small and inexperienced. They trafficked product through space in common shuttles to cut transportation costs. This system was not legal under the medical portion of the Interplanetary Commerce Regulation. As they provided a medical service, the transports would have to be inspected and protected to prevent tampering. So Lance moved forward with his own plan, one that would hopefully jump start Nivero's. With his savings, he hired a smuggler. This man was to get a job with the new Bacta company and get an inside look on the transportation system. The man did as he was paid, got the job, and began tracking shipments.
Within a few months Lance had gathered all he needed. He paid the smuggler to spread a vile of a toxic nature into the shipment, transport the Bacta, and quit his job. 10,000 credits later, the smuggler was gone and a sudden sickness spread through anyone who used this Bacta manufacturer's goods. The business was fined for not taking the proper protection from medical goods and lost value. People once more turned to Kolto as the primary form of healing drug. Lance was not ashamed of what he had done, in fact, he had unexpectantly started BactaCorp. Nivero, never knowing of Lance's involvement, took advantage of the diminished value of the Bacta company and bought the plants and all rights to the creation of Bacta the first business once held. Nivero properly changed the operating model of the company and BactaCorp was borne.
Now was faced with a new challenge. Four years later a 23 year old junior vice president to Koltovaters Inc. had to undo the damage he had done years before to the reputation of Bacta. He figured smuggling get him into this, piracy would get him out. As junior VP, Lance knew the transportation procedures and paths of Kolto flow within the Galaxy. What better group to turn to than the Hutts? The public already had a bad taste for them anyways. Rather than pay the Hutts, he knew better than to mix credits with Hutt greed, he offered to work for them. He was a proven brilliant business man and the Galaxy seemed to be on the brink of total war. The Hutts knew they would need every opportunity available in order to turn a profit from galactic war. So he took a personal leave of absence from Koltovaters under the impression his mother was suffering a flesh eating disease. Lance was supposedly campaigning for a cure across the Core Worlds.
He was hired under the terms that he would operate a system's piracy group owned by the Hutts. Also he was permitted personal use of his new organization. That was the terms of his contract. He would make money for the Hutts for personal use. If it made money, generally the Hutts didn't care. Lance campaigned for two years against Koltovator ships. They were heavily defended but the Kolto on board was valuable to sell on the market in large loads.
Lance suspected he was selling to the Sith Empire, only they would take the means of purchasing black market drugs in such quantities. Again he suspected they were preparing for war. Regardless, Kolto flow to Coruscant was diminishing as producers such as Koltovaters feared pirate attacks. As sickness spread, Nivero had a growing demand for anything but Kolto as it was becoming harder to find. Business on both fronts were great. Bacta was selling better than ever and the Hutts were pleased. Lance seemed to know where their targets would be without wasting time and credits searching them out. Everyone won. Except for Koltovaters in this year and a half ordeal.
Lance publicly returned to Koltovaters Inc. They were facing hard times and the former president had quit due to pressure from stockholders. Lance returned happily to a promotion to Vice President while keeping his job with the Hutts. They were friendly and he greatly valued his shady connection to the crime syndicates. When he returned the pirate attacks settled down but Lance every so often provided the Hutts with an easy target. Over the last 3 years of Koltovater's life Lance prepared and orchestrated a collapse. In a final move he sold his 25% stock worth in the company and Nivero, like planned, obtained Koltovaters Inc. completing the growth and realization of a galactic Bacta synthesizing company.
Now the stage is set as Lance planned. Nivero knew nothing of his past dealings and was now 27 years old, and wealthy to boot. He was the Junior CEO of BactaCorp and business associate of the Hutts. Credits were as common as the stars in the sky to Lance Versallis. Now he was looking to move forward, after gaining all he had hoped for there was only one thing left. More Power.
