Name: Lira Korlee

Weight: 110
Birth place: Corellia
Appearance:
Occupation: ESS Employee
Rank: Captain
Bio:
A Miraluka/human mix has always been known to have potential problems as far as children are concerned and so, it should come as no surprise that Lira’s parents sought each other out; an easier task for them than other species considering their innate ability of force sense.
However, while looking for little more than to preserve their kind at first, their common goals and, apparently, personalities soon helped them develop a strong fondness for each other. A fondness with which, before long, helped create a strong tie between the two.
Born on the planet Coruscant, by the coupling of two actual Miraluka, Lira might’ve been considered destined to be a Jedi by some. And yet, this wasn’t what her parents wanted for her.
Unfortunately, for the Jedi, the one most prominent value of the Kor’ family was choice, and that’s exactly what Karin and Garron wanted for their daughter. So, while they raised her with hopefully the ability to show empathy as well as foresight, they didn’t push her much in regards to choosing between light or dark or the like. And as Lira grew older, it was evident they’d probably made the wisest choice.
Not once did Lira ever consider joining the illustrious Jedi. And even as she asked her parents to help her hone her force abilities, it appeared it was more for personal gain than achieving some greater good. Being Miraluka of course it was something her parents were already doing (It was how they perceived the environment around them, after all) but, in this case, she seemed to be showing an interest in Telepathy. Naturally, her parents didn’t hesitate to comply; showing their support for whatever their daughter chose as per usual.
What they didn’t know however was that Lira had picked up this neat idea from her friends at school, with each constantly egging her on to read their own, or another’s, thoughts; mostly for kicks. The whole thing was the result of a teacher deciding to share a little on Lira’s species, after which she garnered her fifteen minutes of fame… Along with constantly being urged to read favourite foods, test answers, who-liked-who, and whatever else her classmates were interested in.
Nearing the end of school Lira was reeled into signing up for the Republic; especially after an officer visited their school to drone on about the glory of battle and whatnot. She never made it far up the ranks however as she quickly grew tired of her assignments and, particularly, her meagre wages. During the short period while she was a Captain however -- a position afforded her by her impressive college track record -- she certainly shined enough to turn a few heads.
At the time the young Captain had been placed in charge of a small patrol ship, the Deviant, and was assigned with various minor escort duties as well as the job of clearing out spots with known pirate activity. It was a tedious job, especially if you consider the speed with which the pirates redeployed after her leaving, but a challenge nonetheless; with, more often than not, the pirates knowing she was coming before her ship even left hyperspace.
And this is where her abilities were noted.
For some reason -- as if by some sort of battle clairvoyance -- Lira was always ready for the scum, going so far as to even counter their ambushes with her own. And, if that wasn’t enough, her battles (even when the odds were played against her) always seemed to turn in her favour. Pirates captured on the scene often went on about how they either felt discouraged or put off, as if someone were peeking over their shoulder.
As Lira’s infamy amongst the pirates grew, so did her reputation with the corporate sector and so it wasn’t long before she was receiving offers left right and centre. After a time, the stories of her unique abilities, even if exaggerated at times, began increasing the offers she was receiving to exorbitant levels.
She finally accepted an offer by the ESS. By that time, while she was still a Captain, she’d been placed in charge of a Dreadnaught within the Republic; the Colossus.
What caught the company’s interest most was Lira’s ability to seemingly predict the movements of her enemies as well as somehow cast a feeling of dread from her ship; two highlighted lines within her Republic resume regarding encounters with pirates.

Subtlety… Not an outstanding trait of the ESS Eclipse.
With an earth shattering BOOM, the behemoth of a ship made its arrival from hyperspace known, slowing to a steady glide as it approached Mygeeto. The hangar’s blast doors all already opening to make way for a squadron of Korlee’s finest to help guide the enormous carrier in. It was little more than a display of power in Korlee’s case however; the young captain always having a slight taste for the extravagant. A trait made evident by the lavish executive section of the ship.
By now the Chimera would have heard the familiar hale of a friendly ship, with the all-business tone of a male communications officer coming through. “ESS Chimera, this is the ESS Eclipse en route to Mygeeto and requesting safe passage.”
The Captain was of course listening in but not from the bridge. Instead, she sat comfortably behind her polished mahogany desk within her office, leaning back in her black leather armchair as she observed the exchange from a small laptop before her. It was all by the book stuff, so she hardly felt the need to take charge personally; content instead to tap her fingers rhythmically upon her desk as she admired the varieties of rare fish swimming about in her office’s aquarium.
“Boring, yet so much more cosy,” she muttered quietly to herself as thoughts of her once held Republic position came and went.
