Elav strode slowly and aimlessly through the corridors
of the Jedi Temple. His mind was in a state of nostalgic
reminiscence; so lost in thought in fact, that if there had
been the usual number of people out and about that evening,
Elav surely would've walked straight into a few of them.
The Padawan stopped suddenly, leaning against the wall
and gazing at the window that looked out across the
cityscape of Coruscant.
Elav wasn't interested at the view, he was watching the
falling rain, slipping and splashing across the window pane
before him while the pale evening light shaded his face in a
ghostly blue glow. Elav's thoughts were centered around time,
how it flowed much like the streams of water cascading down
from the sky on the other side of the wall.
The past: training under his friend and mentor Khael, seeing
his family again and learning that he had a place in the galaxy
not only as a Jedi, but as an Ilarith. And then finally meeting
his new master Keton Tekal, capturing a group of terrorists, and
then reporting back to the Temple to rest, and because it had
been a while since Keton had last reported back.
The present: the evening of the second day back at the Temple.
It had been a restful couple of days, but it was also eerie how
empty the Temple felt, and how quiet everything was.
The future: Elav had felt a sense of apprehension from the Force,
almost like a storm building power and momentum. Back on Coruscant
and in the chambers of the Jedi Temple, that feeling was amplified
threefold and it was inescapable, even for the Padawan. Elav's lekku
twitched with pent-up anxiety - he wondered how long it would take
before the storm struck and the lightning started to rip across
the sky, cleaving the structure of the galaxy with white-hot
strokes of chaos.
Just then lightning flashed outside and Elav became absolutely
still as the thunder rolled. In a fleeting moment that seemed to
last an eternity, the premonitions the Twi'lek had been feeling
in the Force erupted into something much more powerful and vivid
altogether. As it passed, Elav gasped and swayed convulsively,
nearly tumbling to the floor despite having the support of the
wall. He had been holding his breath during the vision, and now
the Twi'lek's muscles were momentarily frozen from the shock.
Sliding down the wall to rest with his knees against his chest,
Elav panted, bewildered and freightened by what he had just
experienced. But... but I... how could I...? I must ask the
Council about this![/i] But even after several minutes more, Elav
couldn't bring himself to move from his spot on the floor. Deciding
to focus on calming himself first, the Twi'lek set himself into a
Force trance he had learned previously, once again finding solace
in the sound of the rain.
