Misc: Kieran has a fairly medium build, which is covered in rather scattered scars. The most notable feature is Kieran's right arm, which happens to be prosthetic from the elbow down. Faction: The Jedi
Rank: Jedi Battlemaster
Bio: Kieran Eitan came into the world under a politician for a father and a lawyer for a mother. The pseudo wealthy family had earned it's money on Corellia and had a nicely sized mansion that dominated the landscape of the south eastern portion of Cornet.
It was told early on that Kieran would be a cautious child, predicted to be like his father. A politician who cautiously would make attempts to mend the breaks between people and state. A rather rapid series of events forced this option out of Kieran's future however.
When Kieran was four years old, he was at the Treasureship Row with his mother, searching for an item to buy his father. Kieran, acting like any normal child his age was quite curious and was toying with items at an outdoor shop when he was quite rudely interrupted. Attacked by a small boga, the child was beaten into the street where he lay for several minutes while the shopkeeper subdued the reptile. Lashed badly by the animal's tail, Kieran had a stroke of bad luck. When he made it to the med center, his mother was warned, that it had caused a neurotic infection and major portions of the arm would have to be taken off if he was to be kept alive.
By this time, the news tabloids had caught a hold of the news. The Eitans were a well known family on Corellia and any physical defect of their latest child was instantly published to the most extreme. One tabloid even reported that Kieran had been killed by a passing landspeeder after being struck down by a baby Krate dragon.
Anthony Eitan conferred with his wife and put their child through a series of physical therapy trials. However, little more than a month after the accident, a secondary infection settled in yet once more and the portion of the forearm, past the elbow had to be taken off.
By this time, Kieran had realized what had happened and started working extra hard, doing whatever he could to make his parents happy again. Fitted with a prosthetic arm, Kieran was taken away from the public eye as a regimen of private trainers, doctors and teachers worked on the child.
By the time he was five, he was in better shape than most boys twice his age. it was around this time period when his force sensitivity came to light. He was finishing his physical therapy with an instructor, shortly after lunch when a man in a robe came to see him.
The Jedi Master had been visiting Corellia and had felt the faint presence of one not trained in the force. The Jedi Master consulted with his fellow masters on Coruscant and made the knowledge known to the parents about their child. It was on that day, that he was to take Kieran to Coruscant, to train to become a Jedi.
While his father supported the idea at first, his mother utterly rejected it, not wishing her son to become a lightsword wielding monk who's only duty was to one's self. As the Master took Kieran away, the Eitans ever since then, have never forgiven or forgotten the Jedi.
At five and a half years old, Kieran was fairly in tune with the force, he had some experiences on accident, using it to calm himself down or ease the pain of exercises. While he was technically handicapped, he fit in almost perfectly among the other padawans at the temple. Kieran worked hard, still under the impression that his parents were watching from afar, even though day after day, month after month, he still had yet to see them.
At sixteen, Kieran made an attempt to pass the trials, becoming a full Jedi Knight with honors on Coruscant. By this time, he had recognized that his parents were not allowed to make contact with him, settling for self motivation, he pushed himself harder to try and make the next rank.
Kieran received a Durindfire crystal and a Corellian Jedi Medallion, as gifts from his Master, Dennis Quinlan. It was at this time that Kieran started working on his lightsaber.
Master Quinlan was an advocate of the Form V of Lightsaber Combat, Shien, which brushed off on Kieran. Kieran followed the advice of other masters, who said he was following a path into darkness, using a lightsaber style that was allowing him far too much aggression for his personality. Kieran withdrew into Soresu and later Niman, using his master's lightsaber for sparring practice. Quickly becoming adept at extreme defensive of one's self, Kieran became one of the few Knights in the temple to actively train other members of the Jedi Order in the sequences of Soresu. Giving lectures on the strengths and weaknesses of the style in Lightsaber combat.
Kieran soon forgot the advice he received and studied the works of Ataru and Juyo, mixing their acrobatics into his practice of Soresu. Noticing the sudden aggressiveness in his friend, Master Quinlan critiqued him on his style of combat yet once more. While being one of the stronger combat based Jedi on Coruscant, Kieran was censored from training any Jedi in the arena until he passed several tests from the Jedi Council.
While being one of the strongest duelers, Kieran had a rather strong weakness. He didn't have a firm grasp over the Force, physically. While he could manipulate minds and alter them as he wished, he had almost no access to the telekinetic tiers of the Force.
Kieran once again started withdrawing into himself, ignoring the friends he had made in the Jedi Temple, he had yet to be chosen for a mission by the Jedi Council and by the looks of things, he was almost growing roots in the sparring arena.
Finally, several months after he turned twenty three, Master Quinlan walked in on a training session against four training remotes. After the training session had ended, he announced that the pair had been selected for a mission. They were going to Nar Shadda to track down a smuggler and bring him back to the Jedi Council for questioning. Kieran quickly agreed to all the fine print and eagerly left with Master Quinlan for Nar Shadda.
The mission went quite smoothly at first, the smuggler was found in a bar in the Corellian sector of Nar Shadda, he surrendered peacefully, or so it seemed.
While returning to their freighter, they were attacked by bounty hunters, who had laid the trap in the first place. A first taste of real combat entranced Kieran, he fell into the stance of Soresu, letting the force guide his lightsaber and emotions. In seconds, the fight was over, most of the bounty hunters either being struck by their own bolts or subject to light stabs by Master Quinlan. Gathering the bodies and items for research purposes, the two returned to Coruscant, reporting mission and it's outcome to the Jedi Council.
Both were critiqued on their willingness to instantly revert to violence, when they could of at least made an attempt to negotiate. After the debriefing, Master Quinlan informed Kieran that the young man would no longer be an apprentice.
Dennis handed the Knight his lightsaber and walked out of the debriefing room, it would be the last time Kieran would see the man before he was made a master. Rumors abounded throughout the Jedi Temple, it was not often that a Jedi Master simply disappeared. The official word was that Quinlan had been burnt out on the last mission he had participated in and had withdrawn off to meditate on a distant planet.
Kieran spent several months without a master, finally allowed to return to training Lightsaber Combat at the Jedi Temple. While he did some minor missions for the Jedi Order during this time, they weren't worth mentioning in the archives and he once again fell into a pace that was easily described as 'ultimate boredom'.
At Twenty Six, almost a year after his master had left the Jedi Order, Kieran was given a new Master, a Female Bothan named Kali Rostoni. The Bothan was highly defensive and believed utmost in negotiation first and defensive tactics second. With a witty tongue, the bothan filled the gap Kieran needed, to wake up.
Sent to the outer rim on a extended patrol, the two explored the outer rim territories, both of them getting suitably used to the galaxy, before returning to the Jedi Order yet once more after nearly a year and a half of traveling. Tales yet again flowed freely through the Jedi Order, but also the news Tabloids. Uprisings had been quelled, infants had been saved and even a colony was warned of impending doom.
Kieran grew restless, having seen the outer rim and the poverty it was entrenched in. He spoke repeatedly in front of the Jedi Council on the evils of the Republic that they were currently supporting. Yet again, his words proved his undoing, as the Masters refused to promote anyone who was considered an activist.
Kali suggested that Kieran make an attempt in the Master's trials, as it was obvious that he wasn't going to move up in rank any other way. Kieran applied and was passed through the Trial of Skill, where he faced off against three opposing Jedi in the lightsaber arena.
Kieran passed with flying colors, using training lightsabers; he successfully used Niman to both defend himself and attack, stunning all three Jedi Knights that had been set against him. Kieran passed through the trial of the Flesh, the Trial of Courage and the Trial of the Spirit with no problems over the next six months.
At Thirty years old, Kieran finally made Jedi Master.
Master Kieran and Master Rostoni were paired and sent to Corellia, to investigate reports of a faction of Bounty Hunters who were specifically targeting Jedi. They arrived at the planet and met with a Republic Diplomat, who was killed after speaking to them about the Bounty Hunters. Following a trail that led deep into the underworld of Corellia, Kieran was led in a giant circle. He arrived at the doorstep of his own home.
His father had died of old age and his mother had become extremely bitter, putting her entire life into the destruction of the Jedi, blaming them for all that had happened to her. When Kieran and his mother met, she refused to recognize him once she saw the lightsabers he wore on his belt. Kaitlynn Eitan called in her guards, ordering them to escort the jedi out of the building. Refusing to be thrown out, Kieran didn’t move, pushing one of the guards into action. A series of events led to an all out brawl, while Soresu is a lightsaber style, it also can be easily converted to hand to hand combat, lacking the use of a lightsaber.
Kieran and Kali knocked several of the guards unconscious when finally a guard opened fire with his sidearm. The firefight instantly turned ugly in the course of seconds, the Jedi forced to retreat from the onslaught of guards with blasters. As they deflected the shots with their lightsabers, the two masters were forced into the courtyard as they were surrounded and fired on from nearly all angles. Allowing himself into the force, Kieran was touched by a side of the force he had yet to experience. It tugged at his heart, pushing him to use his anger at the betrayal. The hate for the bigotry that was being shown.
Kieran lapsed for a moment, allowing the Darkside to flow freely; the few moments he lost control were all that were needed. When Kieran finally stopped, he realized he had been hacking into the body of a dead guard who had been force pushed into a wall ornament. Master Rostini stood nearby with her lightsaber deactivated, horrified at what she had seen her old apprentice do. Before a word could be spoken between the two, a shot rang out and Kali Rostini collapsed. As the body fell away, Kieran saw his mother holding a slugthrower in a twohanded grip, aiming towards her own son.
Kieran deactivated his lightsaber, placing it back on his belt next to Quinlan’s. He waited quietly, the two staring at each other across the courtyard. Kieran felt, more than heard the shot, as if it had stuck him. Dennis Quinlan stood in the gateway to the courtyard, holding a blaster pistol in a one handed grip. Kieran ran to his mother, kneeling next to her, he felt for a pulse. The force pushed at him yet again, willing him to slaughter all those in the vicinity. The feelings grew stronger as he felt Quinlan slowly walk through the courtyard, studying the remains of the guards and the fallen Jedi Master.
Kieran laid his mother back to rest and turned to face Quinlan, who had now gotten almost within range of a lightsaber. The older Jedi Exile stared at the younger man with dead eyes. Kieran felt a distinct hatred radiating away from the man, almost bathing the entire courtyard in a dark energy. Dennis looked down at the body of Kaitlynn Eitan for a half a moment, before returning his eyes to the sky. The exile turned on his heel and walked out of the courtyard, not speaking a word to the man who used to be his padawan.
Kieran returned to Coruscant with the full report, his mother had been hiring the bounty hunters to bring Jedi Lightsabers to the estate in return for very gracious payment. There were over fifteen Lightsabers in a lockbox hidden away in one of the many rooms of the Eitan estate. By the time Kieran had gone to check Master Rostini, her body had disappeared, her ghost faintly watching Kieran for seconds before disappearing without a word.
The council had felt a disturbance, even on Coruscant, the death of a Jedi Master and the temporary lapse of another was still a strong pulse through the force. Through further questioning, Kieran led the council to believe that the two Jedi had walked in on a fight between Dennis Quinlan and the Eitan security forces. The council fell for the story, releasing a warrant for Quinlan, wishing for him to be taken back to the Temple for judgment.
Less than two months after Master Rostini had died, the remains of Dennis Quinlan were discovered on Tatooine. His death was never investigated.
Kieran moved on, officially taking the title of Battlemaster, after he accepted ten padawans to train in the art of Soresu. For the next two years, Kieran rarely left the Jedi Temple, spending his time in studies of Lightsaber combat.
During this time, he grew attached to a Twilek Padawan named Hathorn Zelam. The young Jedi showed great potential, being very inquisitive and somewhat perky about any duties that were given to him.
Kieran allowed other weaponmasters and trainers to take his remaining Padawans after he completed his third year of teaching. Taking Zelam to be his Padawan, Kieran began traveling yet once more about the galaxy, showing Zelam the outer rim as both Dennis Quinlan and Kali Rostini had done for him.
The corruption of the Republic was rampant, the slave trade was worse than ever in the deep outer rim, which led to a hair brained scheme by Kieran to help destabilize it. Going to a colony that only had a number for a name, MX-2981, the two Jedi infiltrated the slave trade, working their way in deep. Posing as slaves, Kieran was forced to abandon his lightsabers and Zelam, his vibrosword.
A rodian named Xodus Pingvellir was soon revealed to be the head of the Slave trade, running a group called the Crimson Hand Pirates, they dealt mainly in pirating and slaves. Taking over minor cruise liners and capturing some of the passengers for ransom and/or eventual slavery.
Zelam and Kieran were ratted out, when they confided in a fellow prisoner that they were there to free all the slaves. Their ship which had been hidden at port, with most of their supplies and weapons was impounded and scavenged. Placed in a stasis, the two Jedi were held in a prison meant for wampas, while Pingvellir researched the two’s history.
When Kieran and Zelam were released from the stasis, they found themselves in the middle of an arena, close to the same as the Jedi Temple’s sparring arena. Two lightsabers were left for the pair of Jedi in the center of the arena, with a simple condition. If they survived the arena, they would be released with no questions or perks.
Zelam was used to his vibrosword, but easily compensated for the Lightsaber. Kieran was used to using a single saber which gave him a considerable advantage. Eight mutated Nexu were released into the arena, circling the Jedi, Kieran made the first move. After a series of deflects and swings, it was found that the Nexu were nearly impervious to Lightsaber slashes. The Nexu however were quite capable of inflicting damage on the two Jedi. Kieran and Zelam fought for their lives, falling deep into the force, using Soresu to great effect against the animals.
After nearly ten minutes of continual combat, Zelam began to falter. Realizing that he was getting nowhere by trying to kill the animals directly, Kieran began searching for another way to get rid of the nexu. The door that had released the Nexu into the arena was only a half a meter thick. With Kieran fending off the Nexu, the Master instructed his Padawan on the basics of cutting through a solid wall without bringing it down on top of the cutter’s head. Slicing their way through the door, now under a hail of blasterfire, the Jedi escaped. As they fell back through the arena’s corridors, the Nexu lost interest in the two Jedi, who had proved quite hard to kill, deciding to prey on the beings that were chasing after the men with the bright swords.
Stealing a freighter out of Pingvellir’s hangerbay, the two Jedi escaped the planet after watching the rodian who so gratiously dealt in death before, succumb to his own beasts.
Returning to Coruscant, Kieran made his report and Zelam was immediately promoted to Knight. At thirty seven, Kieran had finally made one of his own padawans a knight. Withdrawing from the Jedi Order’s view, after his wounds had healed, Kieran returned to quietly exploring the outer rim with his apprentice.
The battle at the arena had changed the Battlemaster. The thrill of combat had exited him, almost drawing him back to the Darkside yet again.
Kieran’s fall had begun.
Items:
Silver Lightsaber [Nevadar]- Coated in electrum, the Lightsaber consists of a Durinfire crystal and a Lorrdian Gemstone, which increases the user’s telepathy skills and better coordinates the defensive stances. Handmade by Kieran Eitan, designed for extreme wear and tear. Has a double tap-off switch so the blade cannot be disengaged on accident.
Yellow Lightsaber [Séretur]- Originally designed by Dennis Quinlan, this Lightsaber holds a Durinfire crystal and an Opila crystal. While Kieran often wears this lightsaber, he rarely draws it, preferring to focus on the single saber style of Soresu. This saber also has a double tap-off, so the blade cannot be disengaged on accident, or can be left on for a saber throw.
Melee Combat Suit- Designed to protect against knetic impacts, this uniform is normally worn under Kieran's jedi robes, rated to slow down, if not stop a vibroblade and other knetic projectiles with it's protective mesh.

The Lightsaber felt heavy in his hands. The blade hummed quietly, it’s silver light bathing the bodies in a pale glow. The ozone stank of burnt flesh and energy discharge. Kieran let his grasp loosen on the lightsaber, lowering his arm. The lightsaber pointed directly at the ground, casting shadows among the remains.
The nearest body was contorted, the man’s face in a wordless scream. The lightsaber burns crisscrossed his body, he had been dead before he had even felt the pain. Kieran stared at the corpse as the man slowly melted away, a thin layer of smoke began to raise before the face changed. Kieran blinked and the face was replaced by that of his mother, staring directly into his eyes. A look of hatred was cast upon him as he looked on helplessly, unable to bring himself to move or look away.
The face changed again, bringing that of Dennis Quinlan. The man stood up, the burns seemingly ignored.
“Your sins will not be forgiven. You have murdered in cold blood. The path you will follow now is one that you will never be redeemed from.” The voice of Kieran’s old master slowly cracked out through the lips of the corpse.
Kieran took a step back. The apparition smiled.
“The Lightside…The Darkside…there’s no difference. Look at them as one my apprentice. You will gain true power.”
Kieran looked on wordlessly, unable to bring himself to act.
“Or you will fall. In combat, or of old age, forgotten and never lamented except in the tales of those who have failed in their worldly trials.” The Exile stepped forward, his face being lost in shadow. The darkness began to consume the courtyard.
Kieran nearly fell over the body of Kali Rostini. He looked at her face a moment, before drawing his lightsaber into a high guard. With a yell he slashed out at the exile.
---
Kieran fell out of the bunk, taking out the bed stand next to the bunk. Datachits and powercells scattered over the floor as the Jedi Master cursed. A faint laughter echoed off of the walls of Kieran’s room. The silver lightsaber’s blade was ignited and searching for a target before Kieran’s brain caught up with his reactions.
Tapping the lightsaber switch, the dull pain resonated in Kieran’s knees and shins, where they had made contact with the floor. His shoulder began to throb sharply as it began to turn a bluish black where it had made contact with the small table. Placing the lightsaber back on it’s hook on the bunk, Kieran limped out into the living room.
“Shades, thirty percent.”
The room lit up as the rays of sunlight slid through the room. Kieran grimaced at the light. The view of the skyline at sunrise was still beautiful, but still not so pleasant at nearly five in the morning.
The Jedi Master sat down in a chair next to the kitchen, holding his head in his hands. Yet another night without sleep.
