Lightsabers get and keep their shape by the magnetic grip of the emitter matrix and a force containment field. If one was to elongate the Emitter matrix and vary the strength of the field down a handle, The nonuniform field might hold the plasma beam in the shape of a scimitar.
Because the Emitter Matrix also determines the length of the blade. You vary the strength of it along a series of emitters, you could gradually change the length of the blade along a axis to give yourself a nice arch. I mean, lightwhips and Lightclubs are possible so I don't see why this couldn't be.
Emitter matrix uses a magnetic field. usually Magnetic fields are uniform. You alter that and that changes the length of the blade. Now if we call the length of the blade the y axis,
put the emitter matrix on the x axis (making it "wider") you could change the width of the blade, theoretically. So you just put that on the side of the blade, or along a curved edge, and you might be able to adjust the width piecemeal so that the blade arcs.
