Gurlam was just a starport worker. Then about a month ago, the former union leader of the Corellia sixth workers union was murdered in cold blood by a Corsec officer. He had taken Hossak's place as the union leader and he'd hung a campaign against the local corsec militia on the gravestone of his comrade. He and his other co-workers had lobbied to have the Corsec responsible removed from his position and tried with murder. It had failed. They then attempted to reach the Republic for help. However, their request now lay on the desk of a clerk of the courts.
The situation was devolving rapidly. On this day. At this moment. Men had gathered to hear him speak out against the Corsec and their lack of action taken in this situation.
They had gathered in the square outside the capitol building. While unknown to them, a force of Corsec Riot Militia heavily armored had gathered around the square. They dropped out of drop ships, and delivery vehicles. The people who didnt run, had made a stand. The militia only stood their at first. Blocking their entry to the square, yet some seemed to block their escape as well.
At first, the crowd yelled and cursed them. Then they threw stones, and bricks of ferocrete. And then, somone fired a blaster.
The following could only be described as a massacre. The Militia openned fire. Men and women were struck down indiscriminantly by blaster fire, and Gurlams most loyal supporters attempted to smuggle him out of the square.

The civilians had been roudy that day. They had practically screamed for the head of one of finest militia officers in the local military. He was a decorated officer, and had saved many lives in the line of duty. Officer Krispin, was one of the most dedicated members of the force.
They had checked the evidence presented involving his eleged shooting of a civilian and discovered it to be completely unfounded. He had an alibi. He was innocent, or as close as any officer in the Corsec could be.
An anonymous tip was delivered to the Corsec that the local union was going to try and storm the capitol building. So, the Corsec stepped in with every available man. They attempted to block their advance. When that didnt work. The crowd began to get anxious. Many officers were pelted with bricks and stones.
Then some damn idiot fired a blaster. Officer Heli went down. The blow had been fatal. As she lay in the arms of her second in command. He screamed for return fire. Some of the other officers attempted to intervene, but it was too late. Once the first round went off, everyone started shooting. It was like shooting gubbers in a pit.
It was a dark day for Corsec.
((More to come.))
