Department: Tech / weapons craft
Rank: Private
Name: Aiden
Race: Verpine
Age: 10
Height: 5"10"
Weight: 120 lbs
Appearance: [/img]The verpine are highly intelligent, hermaphroditic insectoids with stick like bodies covered in plates of flexible, brilliant-green chitinous shells. Unlike other insect species, they only possess two arms and two legs, each of which ends in three fingers with one being an opposable digit. Their large black eyes allow them to focus their vision to view even microscopic detail, and the two antennae that extend from the back of their heads allow them to communicate with one another over great distances by creating natural radio waves.
Birth place: The Roche asteroid field.

Ranged Weapons: 6

Bio: The first 9 years of his (I will use male reference) life Aiden lived with his hive in the Roche asteroid field, the closest the Verpine have to a home world. The verpine settlements consist of unions of hives that number 20-100 individuals. Like a number of other insectoid species, the verpine are hermaphrodites. When a hive needs to increase its numbers, the community asks selected Verpine to reproduce. Some are assigned egg production and lay their eggs in the hive’s incubator. Others fertilize the eggs. The entire community then cares for the resulting hatch-lings. All verpine are compulsive tinkerers, and fascinated by all things technological. They are experts in virtually every field of technology and any device that falls into their hands is swiftly taken apart, reassembled, and duplicated by verpine engineers - usually with a range of improvements over the original. The fact that millions of verpine are able to inhabit the Roche asteroid field is perhaps the most impressive testament to the technological mastery of these beings. The asteroids they inhabit are each completely self-sufficient sealed environments that are kept in stable positions by repulsor fields.
Living in the hive for the first 9 years of his life, Aiden grew board of his job maintaining, and repairing a repulsor system on his home asteroid. At the age of nine a young adult for the Verpine Aiden was sent of the asteroid to make some scheduled and routine repairs on his repulsor system. While outside the asteroid Aiden watched as a badly damaged corrilian corvette entered the system requesting emergency repairs. The desire to discover something new disassemble and reassemble was so strong that he decided at that moment he would leave the Roche asteroids of his home. Rare for a Hive creature to venture out on his own but not unheard of.
A few days later Aiden was safely stowed away on the republic ship, and heading out into the unknown. The ship was large but not large enough to hide the insectoid among an almost entirely human crew. Aiden was discovered within hours of the departure, his presence was not important enough to turn the ship around to take him back. It was decided that he would stay on as part of the maintenance crew until arrangements could be made to return him to his hive.
With no desire to go back to routine repulsor maintenance Aiden worked very hard to make himself a part of the crew. Maintaining repairing and in many cases upgrading the equipment in all areas of the ship. Over the next year Aiden traveled with the ship learning all he could about the new gadgets to dismantle and rebuild. Many of the special ops soldiers on the crew brought all their weapons to Aiden to repair and maintain, as they often got the weapons and equipment back in a much better state than when it was brand new.
Blaster rifles and pistols are of specific interest to Aiden as he quickly learned that the universe is a very dangers place. Not being very strong and uncoordinated in a physical fight, Aiden focused his learning on avoiding a fight if at all possible, and distance fighting if negotiations and diplomacy failed. Aiden became quite an adept shot with both a blaster pistol and rifle, which he carried both of his own special upgraded weapons anytime he was off ship.
After a year on the ship, it was engaged in a particularly fierce battle with some pirates, who boarded the ship. The fighting was intense and Aiden defended himself with deadly force. Despite the crew fighting bravely they were out numbered and out gunned by the pirates. Abandoning the ship was the only choice. Aiden made it onto a ship with hyperspace capability and left the ship with a group of soldiers. After a close escape the soldiers returned to a military space station. The soldiers were reassigned. As Aiden was not an official member of the crew Aiden is now offering his expertise as any kind of mechanic or tech to be a part of a crew. His main desire is to explore the galaxy and find new technology to examine.
With a relatively sheltered life Aiden is somewhat ignorant, and gullible, but has an honest and good heart. He values life greatly and will only fight to defend himself, his friends or to protect innocence that can not protect themselves. Even in a fight killing is a last resort.
Shortly after leaving the hive Aiden was feeling guilty about leaving. He made a transmission back to the hive from a public comunication port on a space station. Letting his hive know he was still alive and doing well, explaining that the routine of his job was not enough of a challange for him. His hive understands the desire to reach out and explore, they support him in his quest to grow, learn of the galaxy, and new technology. The hive will welcome him back at any time.
Some of his hatchmates are excited for him making the decision to head out on his own. Aiden Being a member of a hive works extreamly well in a group taking orders and compleating any task to the best of his ability. Never afraid to ask for help or offer suggestions were he feels they will a benifit to the group his is working with.
Since leaving the ship and loseing the friends he had made over the last year, Aiden is feeling very alone and almost desperate to get back into a close knit group to replace the need to be with a hive community.
Becuse of this fear of being alone, Aiden will take almost any opening in a military group. His desperation to be a part of a group leads him to bypass much of negotiations concering pay and benifits. The desire to be a part of a well functioning group and to explore and examine new tehnology will more than make up for low pay, and poor travel conditions.
No matter how close the millitary outfit works together, Aiden will alway have a slight case of homesickness that causes him to contact his home hive as offten as possible.
RP Sample:
1. Alarms sounded directly after a sudden and almost painful drop in cabin pressure alerting the crew to a hull breach in this section of the ship.
2. Aiden quickly scanned a computer monitor to locate the damage, as he reached for his tools. The sudden sound of blaster fire changed his mind for him. Not just a hull breach a boarding party!
3. Instead of his tools Aiden retrieved his custom pistol and rifle from the foot locker. Cautiously he stepped out in the the corridor and moved to the sound of the fight.
"Aiden!" a soldier called "it's not safe here"
a sudden blast and a grunt and the soldier fell face first to the floor a blackened burnt wound still smoking in the center of his back
"NO!" yelled Aiden in surprised shock
Further down the corridor two pirate commando were taking aim
Aiden quickly ducked back around the coroner as bright flashes singed the air were he once stood.
"I give you the option of leaving this fight and staying alive...you don't have to die here today!" Aiden yelled around the coroner
His offered retreat was answered with laughter and a volley of blaster shots, which chipped and burnt the the corridors walls.
"OK" whispered Aiden and stepped around the corner squeezing the trigger repeatedly on his blaster rifle. His sharp eyes focused down the barrel and to the mark. Bright laser bolts landing on the intended targets dropping the two pirates to the ground with smoking ruin for chests.
a sinking feeling of sadness and fear washes over Aiden and speaking to himself says "That was to easy and very final they are dead and I have killed them."
