Nimm Sayula was born on Manaan to a Selkath scientist. The Selkath young spent much of his early life in the water, as all Selkath young require water for the first few years of life. At the age of three, the young Selkath was developed enough to leave the water and was physically evaluated. The evaluation discovered an unusual amount of midi-chlorians in the young amphibian's blood. Nimm's parents made the tough decision of bringing him to Coruscant to be tested and accepted by the Jedi.
Once on Coruscant, the young Selkath was tested and accepted by the Jedi Order. The giving away of their child was the hardest thing the parents could do, but they knew it would be the right decision. They left the planet the following night, never to return to the Jedi Temple. His parents would miss their first-born child the rest of their lives.
Nimm grew up in the Jedi Temple as any normal youngling would. He was cared for by droids until the age of six in the nursery, and by the age of seven, he learned to read and write Galactic Basic. The young Selkath struggled with pronouncing his words correctly at times, mostly because his alien physiology gave him a slight speech impediment. The impediment was ridiculed by some of the other younglings his age that could speak Basic without a hitch.
Nimm did not excel or fail in any of his classes, he was average. The young Selkath did not dream of being a great and powerful Jedi, instead he dreamed of just doing his job as a Jedi, protecting those who could not, and serving the Republic. After a few years of study and working with a tutor, Nimm got rid of his speech impediment, and by the time he was 10, the Selkath could speak perfectly.
Nimm did however made friends with a Troguta about his age named Salusha. The two were inseparable and were accepted into the same clan. During the first couple months of the training, Nimm's good friend would go on to become very adept with the fundamentals of lightsaber training they were taught. Salusha would go on to be accepted a month before he was put into the Jedi Agricultural Corps. Salusha and Nimm would not see much of each other then.
When another year passed by, the Selkath started to notice the other younglings of his class being picked by Jedi Knights and Masters to be Padawan Learners, the Selkath secretly wished that he would be picked eventually. Nimm currently attends his classes regularly on Coruscant, waiting and dreaming for the day he would be picked to be a Padawan.
Finally after his long wait, Nimm's hopes and dreams came true. The young Jedi was finally taken as a Padawan by the Jedi Master Atu Soka. The two first met in a Meditation Chamber in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. After a long discussion and conversation, Nimm was accepted by the Jedi Master. Nimm now awaits his master's return from a mission on Duro.
