Name: Aertan Zayelt
Race: Human
Age: 16
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 117 lbs
Appearance: Aertan is rather skinny, and has extremely short hair. If he keeps it any other way, it gets out of control. It is dark brown in colour. His eyes are grey-blue, and sparkle in the correct lighting. His skin is subtly tanned.
Birth place: Medical Ship "Thranta" - Coruscant Mesosphere
Faction: Jedi Order
Rank: Padawan. Master died due to a fatal illness.
Bio: Yali Zayelt gave birth to Aertan on a medical ship just entering Coruscant's atmosphere, in an attempt to get her to the nearest environment for delivery. Under normal circumstances, she should have died, but Aertan was a small child, and gave her very little trouble in childbirth.
Aertan, for the first four years of his life, was lovingly raised by Yali and Mitch Zayelt on the high-rises of Coruscant. He willingly spent much of his time with them, and learned the basics of cooking from Mitch, and basic language from Yali. Schooling began for him at age five, where they put him in a boarding school fairly distant from their household, for a formal education. Aertan was adamant against leaving his parents at first, but slowly became more used to and independent in his new situation. He only saw his parents for holidays and vacations.
His whole life changed a year later, on a quiet evening while visiting his family. He was fast asleep in his bed, when he heard the sound of glass breaking. Aertan timidly stood from his bed, wrapped in a blanket, and crept into the kitchen area of the apartment. He saw a pair of buglars in the apartment, who had entered through a carelessly opened window in the far room.
Aertan, scared called for his mom and dad, who quickly got up, and ran into the hall, spotting the thieves. As a reflex, the shorter of the two, a Rodian, took a shot at Mitch. Horrified, Aertan stared hopelessly at the shot as it began to move through the air, appearing slower and slower each passing second. After a moment, Aertan realized that the bullet had indeed stopped, along with everything else. In actuality, he was simply percieving everything to be moving extremely fast.
Awstruck, the only thing Aertan could will himself to do was to stare at his father, not being able to do anything. His eyes kept darting between the four others in the room, and especially at the Rodian. He didn't know how much time had passed before reality sped back. Aertan hardly even knew what he had done in that time. However, as he did, his parents, moving progressively faster, flew into the hallway door, and the two burglars dropped to the ground. By the time reality had normalized, the blaster's shot had hit Aertan's bedsheets, and his parents were safe.
He then smiled warmly at his parents, and looked at the burglars with no fear. By now, Mitch had pulled a gun on the invaders.
The morning after, the two were taken to prison by the CSF. However, nothing was going to be the same in the Zayelt household again. Aertan, involved in the detaining of the criminals, was now officially documented to be sensitive in the Force. Three days later, Aertan was taken to the Jedi Temple for examination by the council. He passed the tests with excellent results.
At the age of 12, Aertan was assigned to Master Vorta Keikodi, a Togruta member of the council. She was a kind, logical, and outspoken Jedi, who was one of the finest examples of Lightsaber combat the Temple had to offer. By the time she had taken Aertan in as an apprentice, she had a deadly, unknown, and by-and-large uncurable illness, which even the Force could only delay. Even knowning that she would soon die, she took Aertan in to teacher him everything she knew.
The two were very close, and commonly spoke in private about goings on within the order. She respected Aertan outside of the Jedi code, and, even defying the high council, spoke to Aertan about true moral values, and that the right of all living things is more powerful than that of the Jedi rules. However, during normal training, she was strict, and an perfect example of what a Jedi Master should be.
Aertan's mission to build a lightsaber was slightly different than a normal Jedi's quest for a crystal. Keikdoi had the crystals for Aertan's lightsaber in her possesion, handpicked for an excellent lightsaber. She neglected to tell him this, however, and sent him through a true Jedi mission. He was to go to Rhen Var and scour a former settlement buried half a kilometer beneath an ice sheet, and recover a number of relics from the old civilization. After his success, he was given an extremely rare crystal by Vorta, which could turn a saber an extremely rare colour. A deep, almost royal blue hue.
She taught Aertan multiple forms of Lightsaber combat, including use of a saber staff and dual swords. Even so, Aertan favored a single blade for his fighting. His core force abilities, on the other hand, were a bit lacking, due to his masters focus on the creative use of force powers in tandem with the saber.
One inevitable day, however, all this came to an end. During a training session with Aertan, Vorta collapsed. The last of her strength had left her, and, an hour later she died peacefully. Her last words were incredibly meaningful, and were something Aertan would never forget.
"Do not fret. Sometimes, things like this are beyond our control. But a spiritual bond with the Force keeps our integral thoughts part of it. My master had said to me once, that the ability to use the Force should not be controlled by laws, but by the morals of the user. What he meant, was that the right decision must always be made, regardless of what anyone says.
I love like my own kin, Aertan. I will always be there. If you truly need me, search your heart, and I will guide you.
Goodbye."
Aertan was sad for some time after that. He never once thought of acting out on his feelings however, and felt that it, if he was to break down and give in, he may become useless. Aertan's one and only fear was the fear of having no purpose.
As of now, he now holds his Master's lightsaber as a memory of her. While utilizing Jar'Kai, he will use both his own and Vorta's saber for use in combat. With his training on halt for such a long period of time, the council has yet to assign him a new master, but it is a day he eagerly awaits.
Lightsaber: "Aura" Formerly belonging to Master Vorta Keikodi, who passed it on to Aertan as a sign of respect. Single blade, and done in an odd style. Elegant, silver, and specifically designed for Niman and Jar'Kai, Aura is a very practical weapon.
Aura, in actuality, was Vorta's second lightsaber. Her first, a crude green saber, was lost after it fell into a cravasse on Rhen Var. Vorta had just entered her third year of knighthood by that point, and was still stubborn as ever. She decided, in her thick headedness, to find a suitable crystal to honour her old saber, and refused to use a saber until she found one. She came across the silver crystal for Aura purely by accident, while intercepting an illegal smuggling of stolen mining materials. she distrupted the operation, but noticed that one of the ores taken contained three crystals. Two of a dark blue colour, and one silver. All three were usable as lightsaber crystals.
Color: Silver
Lightsaber: "Ascended" Aertan's saber, which he had made a couple of years ago. It is similar to Vorta's, in that it is very unique in it's metallic and artisic design. This weapon can be used for Niman, and Djem So. Like Aura, it can also be used for Jar'Kai.
Ascended was created from one of the two other crystals found by Keikodi all those years ago. It was Aertan's first lightsaber.

Aertan stood still, listening to the buzzing of the seven training remotes hovering about. It was difficult to concentrate with the younglings talking down the hall, but Aertan managed to located one of the little droids before it took a shot, and put the saber to his left, deflecting the bolt. Two more shots came from either side, and the Jedi ducked and slid to his left, taking a blind swing towards the sound of the bursts. The remotes then shut themselves down, and Aertan stoof back up again. Wondering what was happening, he lifted his visor, seeing a Knight walk into the room. She was a human, like himself, but with strange, green tattoos on her face on her left arm.
"Hello there." She said, taking one of the remotes sitting in the air. "My apologies, but several younglings are beginning their training today, and we are short on training devices in the other room. Do you mind?"
Aertan nodded politely. "Not at all. I was going to my quarters anyway."
She stepped out into the bright hallway, and two of the other remotes followed her. Aertan lifted the shades on the windows, and took a seat. He looked at the patterned floor for what felt like hours, and nodded off into a pleasant sleep. He sincerely hoped none of the younglings would pester him, but, after a moment, he stopped caring.
