Out of simple curiousity, would it be possible to have a Mandalorian Jedi? Like as in, taken in by Mandalorians at a young age and taught some of their ways, but then taken again to become a Jedi? I only ask is because I had an idea for a fighting style that uses hand to hand tactics mixed in with the Jedi's natural way of fighting.

I think if the child was taken from the Mandalorians by the Jedi, I wouldn't really consider him to be a Mandalorian Jedi. Also, once has to be under 6 to be taken by the Jedi... I would doubt he/she would know much fighting styles then.
That said, the Mandos aren't really fans of the Jedi, so I don't think they would let Jedi take one of their children, biological or adopted.

Hmmm, I could always have the character learn about his heritage later on and then start adapting things from it into his training.
As for letting the Jedi take him, they could get in a battle with the Jedi and he's left orphaned and sensing he has some connection to the force, take him with them.

It could work... it all depends on how you write it out.

Someone more versed in Jedi knowledge, like Meira, Jace or Jenno could probably give you a better idea.

Well, this has been tried before... and I'm sorry to say that a Mando/Jedi simply isn't possible. It is doubtful that Mandalorian parents would allow a knight/master to take their child, simply because the Mandalorians are not exactly the Order's biggest fans. They may revere them for their combat prowess, yes, but that still doesn't change the fact that the Jedi are often considered an arm of the republic by outsiders. Mandalorians hate the Republic. Also, the Mandalorian culture is just that: A culture. Just as one has to follow certain guidelines in order to be a Jedi. I would say that it is nigh impossible to be a mando Jedi, simply because one would have to follow the tenets of the Mandalorian culture and the Jedi code... which is possible due to the fact that they are basically polar opposites, save a few select guidelines. Now, I didread the above posts ( just felt like typing all that out xD), and the above paragraph explains basically why your character can't be a Mando/Jedi. If s/he was old enough to be endowed in the culture s/he would be far too old to join the Jedi Order, likewise, if s/he was young enough to join the Jedi Order he would be too young to really keep to the Mandalorian way. That and the Jedi would beat (proverbially) the Mandalorian out of him so fast that your head would spin. If one Meira, Jenno, Projectsunfire, Jace, or Tal (the latter three being BIG into Mandalorians) come in and say otherwise... then by all means follow their words and not mine. I've simply gave a few observations on the Jedi and the Mando'ade cultures. ^_^ I go lurk now

Damn, I should have seen this response sooner. I'm almost done the profile by now. Well, guess I'll see what happens, I think I'm balancing the two pretty well. Thanks for the info though.
On that note, another question, sorta simple. It says in the template I need a rp sample unless I'm going for Youngling but I've seen several approved ones that are Padawans that don't have one either and got approved. So does that mean I don't need one or did someone just make a mistake?

Or it could be that they were approved as younglings and later changed to padawan. However, if you are planning on becoming a padawan soon through RP, it's a good idea to provide a RP sample anyway, so we can an idea.

So add the Rp sample, alright, fair enough.

I'm afraid Dire Wolf is right man, the two are complete opposites. You might be able to get away with a mando and sith (tho it would take a lot of effort and he'd be looked down upon in both cultures even if he could pull it off), or a jedi who's gone mando, but the other way around is virtually impossible. It is possible for a jedi to earn honor among mandalorians, such as the Jedi Exile and Revan did, but that's quite a bit different from being a mando. The problem for you stems in that both are cultures, not so much a race. While the jedi have representatives from virtually every race, they are a culture and as such have certain tenants that are enforced. The mandalorians have similar tenants, but they are very much at odds with most of the Jedi Code. For example, the jedi code teaches calm during battle, the mandalorians embrace the rush. The Jedi teach that passions are to be avoided, mandalorians embrace passion as the breathe of life. As I said, you can probably get away with a grey jedi joining the mando, but he'd have to shun the use of the force. Something that a jedi isn't likely to do. The Mandalorians view the Force like a crutch, a device to bring those who are unworthy to even be on the field of battle (namely, the pacifistic jedi) and place them on the battlefield as victors. In addition, the Jedi are the guardians of peace, something innately opposed by the mandalorian philosophy (to better oneself thru combat) and the republic (which mandalorians normally viewed as stagnant and corrupt. In this plot line, they view it with extreme hate and disdain). There are ways to integrate the two, but they are at extreme odds. It is, quite simply, impossible to be both. Particularly since the mando were intended to be jedi killers
