This is Gyro Nein reporting for Holonet News Network.
Reports of conflict on the Outer Rim have today been confirmed by the Republic Military. They stated that the fleets at Mon Calamari were attacked repetitively by the Sith Empire and after anti-orbital defence weapons were disabled they evacuated all forces in the vicinity.
A comprehensive list has still not been compiled of those killed or missing in the conflict, though a number of vessels have been reported destroyed such as The Zephyr and The Indomitable. Some families have already been contacted although it has been stated by the military that these are suspected to just be a small fraction of the total number of dead.
Whilst the military has failed to state anything more than this, the Senate has been in an uproar. After the Sith Empire’s previous occupation of Dantooine and the use of political strong-arming to deter the Republic from declaring war, many members of the Senate are now calling out for Supreme Chancellor Aiden Baoont to officially declare a state of war, many are prepared to throw themselves behind such a movement. However, after his reluctance to act after the previous attack it is uncertain how he will respond to this news. The Supreme Chancellor has entered discussion with many of his closest aides and informants and is due to address the public in a number of days.
However, Mon Calamari was not the only planet reported to be attacked. Mygeeto was also subjugated and the planet’s hired ESS fleet was forced to retreat after numerous losses.
With the Sith Empire making numerous moves across the Outer Rim and support for their regime growing along with the rumours of continued Mandalorian insurgents it appears war may soon be declared if the Senate is to have their way, or perhaps completely ignored if the Supreme Chancellor repeats his previous tactics.
