Gyro Nein here reporting for Holonet News Network.
After the recent military expansions on the Outer Rim the Sith Empire made their stance and intentions known to the Republic. Whilst many of the senators are hoping that the new Supreme Chancellor, when elected, will officially declare war in order to make sure their home systems are well defended.
However, unexpected news has reached Coruscant this evening and official reports have indicated that a number of governments on the Outer Rim have aligned themselves with the Sith Empire, some of these governments were once independent whilst others previously part of the Galactic Republic have relinquished control of their planets to the aristocracy of the Sith Empire. Whilst there is a strong belief that these planets have sided with the Sith Empire out of fear, reports from the Empire and the individual planetary governments state that this was a decision made due to beliefs, not because of fear.
With tensions on the Outer Rim rising and this recent defection has left many governments uncertain of how to act. Without strong leadership to rally under the Galactic Republic could see similar decisions made in the next few weeks.
In the meanwhile the governments of Bastion, Jaemus, Tiss'sharl, Phindar and Iego have all declared their unanimous support for the Sith Empire and its regime. Tough times are facing the Republic and the next Supreme Chancellor is going to have their hands full when they are finally voted into office.
