Appearance:
Birth place: Kothlis
Occupation: Senator of Bothawui
Rank: Senator chosen to represent Bothawui and its Colonies
Bio:
Markus Fey'lya was born on the Bothan colony of Kothlis into the Fey'lya clan. The Fey'lya clan was almost as close as one could get to royalty or at least fame. His father, Octavius Fey'lya was a retired Senator, who was considered an extremely talented politician. Talented of course meant he could lie, cheat, and in any way mislead to gain what was best for him.
This did not skip Markus's generation, but he wouldn't make use of it until later in his life. Markus's parents had been grooming him to become a great politician, sending him to the best schools and giving him a varied education. Markus didn't mind this at first, he was pretty sharp when he was young, but he accepted it for awhile.
Once Markus was around twelve or so, his rebellious nature slowly started to kick in. Markus did not like the idea of having his whole life controlled by his parents, regardless of how nice it was. Though at the age of 12, he couldn't really do all that much in rebellion.
The years passed by and Markus was slowly approaching the age in which his parents began looking for prospective wives. This really pushed Markus over the edge, so he did something that his parents had no control over. He took a trip to Bothawui one day, and enlisted in the Republic Army. The look on his parents face was more than worth all the training and hard work he had to go through.
Luckily, well at least he felt lucky, he didn't have to go into any real battle. He wasn't one to get his hands dirty if he could get others to do it for him. His keen intellect was noted by the brass, and he was promoted to the intelligence sector of the republic army. Not only was he smart, he was manipulative, and in the intelligence sector that is quite a useful trait.
Slowly making his way up the ladder in Army Intelligence, he found out that he was to be transferred again. This time he was going to Coruscant, he didn't mind it there. He assumed that his father had pulled some strings to get him there, probably to be closer to the Senate. Markus was going to join the SBI, or Senate Bureau of Intelligence.
The SBI basically had information on everyone and everything, from across the galaxy. Markus began to enjoy his time at SBI, well that was until he made his way to Deputy Director of Intelligence. Once he got to that point, everything became about budgets and senatorial meetings. Luckily for the SBI, politics was in his blood, and he proved quite useful to the SBI.
He spent less time going through intelligence and more time convincing the Senate oversight committee that they should be allocating more funds for them. His inbred ability to mislead and deceive proved quite useful to him. Markus was selfish and he knew it, but he still felt that helping the SBI was a partly noble cause that equaled out his selfishness. Any morale or noble person knows that isn't true, but Markus wasn't very morale or noble.
Markus had known for a long time that politicians basically ran everything, regardless of whether they knew what they were deciding on or not. A council with no military experience can decide what the military was going to do. Markus was greedy but he thought this notion was ridiculous. There were one or two Senators that Markus actually respected, those were the ones with military background. Or a background on whatever they were making a decision on.
Markus was almost 30 when he decided to make one of the biggest decisions in his life. Markus decided to leave the SBI and become a Senator of the Republic. Markus was starting to get worried about himself, he partly did it for power, but another part of it him did so he could make sure the SBI got what they needed. Markus was greedy yes, but he was also very loyal to the Republic and its ideals...well at least most of them.
Markus didn't have to do much to make his way to become the Senator of Bothawui. His Father had prepared for the situation, and within a few weeks of his decision he became the Senator. Markus quickly became part of the Military oversight committee due to his background. He started making very powerful friends who were high up in the military. These sort of friendships had great benefits which usually adhered to a universal truth. They scratch your back, and you would scratch theirs.
Markus's reputation in the Senate and the galaxy was starting to build quickly. He was known to be a fierce verbal opponent, and never took to backing down. This means that he had also made alot of enemies in the Senate, one of whom actually tried to have him killed. The unsuccessful plot only spurred Markus on, with war coming in the near future, the republic was going to need leaders..and Markus Fey'lya was going to be one of them.

Markus sat at his desk with his hands intertwined as he watched the news on HoloNet. Nothing of interest was going on at the moment, at least on the outside. It was the calm before the storm in a manner of speaking. Markus of course would be there, front and center, when the storm came. He wasn't in his office usually this late but he had a special meeting. He was jarred out of thought by the a shrill beep.
"Yes" he stated cooly
"The Admiral is here to see you, sir" his secretary stated
"Very well send him in"
The door parted and the admiral walked in, Markus stood up to meet him, and shook his hand.
"Please Admiral, have a seat" intoned Markus, motioning the admiral towards the chair with his hand
The admiral thanked him quickly and sat down, Markus offered him a drink but he respectfully declined. Markus understood that the admiral probably didn't want his judgment impaired. After all the admiral was going to be trying to convince Markus, so he needed a clear head.
These days military men needed allies in the Senate, and though they hated the idea, it was the truth. They needed supplies, they needed resources allocated to them. Things only a Senate committee could decide upon. So they had to make these visits, make promises and ask favors. Markus didn't really mind all that much, he got what he wanted, they got what they wanted, and so it was all just fine.
"So what can I do for you today, Admiral" said Markus with a sly grin on his face.
