Bio:
“He will be a danger to all his peers.”
“I know.”
“And you are still willing to do this?”
“I believe that, with my help, following the Jedi Code will teach him to subdue his instincts… So yes… Yes, I am willing.”
Kiasus was born to Saljé Jayzaa on the planet Aleen. His mother was a wanderer of sorts, always moving around looking for new and interesting prey, and running from local authorities. She quickly found that having an infant slowed her down too much and possessing little maternal instinct she dropped him off on the doorstep of an orphanage.
The caretakers at the orphanage at first just assumed Kiasus was a human baby, but after the doctor was unable to find any heartbeat the truth of his heritage was revealed. The nurses of the orphanage were merciful, and they allowed the small Anzat boy to remain. Over the next few years Kiasus grew up playing and having a good time with the other children, but the nurses always kept a special eye out watching for any signs of aggressiveness.
A few months after his third birthday Kiasus and the other three-year-olds were corralled into a large conference room in the orphanage. In the room waited a Miraluka Jedi Master from Aleen’s Jedi Chapter House. He introduced himself as Jedi Master Aneela and he told them he was there to test them all to see if they had what it takes to be trained in the arts of the Jedi. The Master Aneela took each of the children aside and asked them to do various tasks, all the while making notes in a datapad. After each child had taken a turn, he thanked them all and left. A week later Kiasus and two other children were called in from play. Jedi Master Aneela stood next to the nurse on duty. He told them that they had been chosen to be trained in the Jedi Temple on Corusant.
Not long after they arrived Kiasus and the other younglings were separated into clans. Kiasus was chosen to be in the Soaring Hawkbat clan, and much to his surprize Master Aneela was to be their instructor. The training was hard but Kiasus was quick to catch on. Each day after his regular lessons Master Aneela would take Kiasus aside and tutor him one on one, but these lessons were different. Aneela taught him about how to control his instincts and how to keep his mind focused. Kiasus liked Aneela, but he did not understand why he was getting such special attention. Whenever he would ask why, he was told not to be concerned about it and that he would know eventually. And that day came.
One morning, not long after he had turned eight, Kiasus attacked one of his fellow classmates. It was a small human boy, and Kiasus couldn’t help it. It felt as though his body had taken over. He slammed the boy to the ground and his two proboscises shot out and went up the boy’s nose as if they had minds of their own. Before he was able to taste the boy's "soup" Master Aneela showed up and stopped Kiasus.
After that incident Kiasus was quarantined from the other younglings. The only person he ever saw was Master Aneela, who taught him his lessons, but now he spent most of the time learning how to control himself. Despite eating food regularly, he still hungered to feed off of the living. He was put through a regime of meditation techniques to seperate himself from his instincts. Master Aneela told him that everyone had to learn to do this to some degree, but that he had to focus on it more. Even though he was being taught how to suppress his instincts the desire to feed was always present just below the surface of his consciousness. Seeing that despite the meditation and the mantras, the boy's hunger persisted Master Aneela gave him a small leather sack filled with jekka seeds. He told the boy that if he ever felt his hunger start to stir that he should chew on a few jekka seeds to take his mind off of it. To Kiasus' surprise this little trick seemed to work, to a point. After several months Aneela decided that the quarantine had been long enough and Kiasus returned to his clan.
During his training Kiasus showed a real aptitude for telepathy, controling his body, and sensing his surroundings. Of course, this was no surprize to anyone since his species had a natural propensity towards such things. What suprized his instructors was the difficulty he had with healing and the various force protection techniques. He seemed to grasp the concept fairly well, but his execution of it left much to be desired.
As they all got older, one by one the other younglings in Kiasus’ clan were chosen to become Padawans. Kiasus had just turned 12 and each day the deadline loomed closer and closer. One day during his personal training session Kiasus told Aneela that he was scared he may not get picked. Aneela told him that the other Jedi were just nervous to take an Anzat as a Padawan and that he was sure one of them would be happy to. Then Aneela promised Kiasus that if no other Jedi would take him by his thirteenth birthday that he would, because he knew that Kiasus could control his instincts. But each day Kiasus’ hunger grew and he knew that Aneela could tell.
