Last Days as a Jedi?

Talau walked silently through the gardens, looking at the various fountains. Now that she was back here at the temple, she realised that she would most likely be leaving the life of the jedi behind. Sitting down heavily, she gazed off into the nearby plants unseeingly.

After watching the sparring match between the two younglings Vex decided to continue his walk around the Temple. He hadn't seen or heard anything from Tal since their return. He had been busy with preparing his report for the Council. Since they had agreed upon his request to take on a Padawan he had been searching for her, but had been unsuccessful.

His next stop was the peace and tranquility of the gardens. He strolled along the quiet paths not paying attention to those around him, but enjoying the peace and calm that emanated from this place. He enjoyed the gardens, they were a place he could go to clear his mind. A place other than the training rooms where he punished himself more than train. He held his hands clasped behind his back as he passed a gentle fountain set along his path. He smiled at the ripples that the water made and stopped to watch them fade away.

As she sat there leaning against a tree, Tal nearly radiated uncertainty, doubt...and a growing anger....with herself, and with the others here. A few of the padawans who had been in her beginning classes stopped to look at her as they passed by talking about their masters.

"Hey Tal....still no master?"
"Too bad youngling..."
"I guess it's true then that you'll have to leave this week?"

Tal simply glared at them, deciding not to say anything in return, though one hand gripped the purple saber at her side.

Uncertainty....
Doubt....
Anger....

These feelings were very familiar to Vex as he passed a copse of trees on his way to the room of a thousand waterfalls. In fact they weren't emanating from him for once. He paused in mid stride and looked around his current area. A group of Padawan's passed him by chatting about how happy they were to be picked to become Jedi. He felt the resentment subsiding somewhere close by. He reached out in the Force to search for these feelings and their occupant.

There it was again, the familiar presence that he had not seen or felt since their return to Coruscant. She sat isolated under one of the trees. A brooding aura surrounded her with these feelings he had picked up on. Crossing the distance before him, he looked down at the young girl who had berated him for his training. He let his emotions gently roll off of him in waves at how glad he was to find her. A warming smile lit up his face as he had news for her.

Now who's the brooding one? laughs At least you're not surrounded by remotes and letting the stun bolts hit you without defending yourself. I'm glad I found you. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately, but I've had to deal with the report I gave to the Council.

Vex stepped up beside her and slid down the trunk of the tree to sit next to her. He wrapped his arms around his knees and pulled them in tight as if he were hugging himself. He leaned his head back against the tree and closed his eyes.

Tal looked up as he drew near and spoke to her. She was glad to see him, and it did help her mood some, but...though she felt slightly better, it didn't help much to ease her tension.

Hi Vex...yeah, I suppose I am brooding a bit, but wouldn't you in my situation? I have to leave soon...tomorrow is my last day as a jedi....

She replied, sadly, looking down at the grass she sat on, and running a hand over it lightly.

Sorry I'm such a grump right now, but those padawans just....*sigh* nevermind....I just wish I could leave here knowing I had some friends....not just knowing people who would pick on me because I'm lacking.

Vex let out a small laugh as he slowly opened his eyes and looked through the leaves of the tree he leaned against. He watched how the light and shadow played across the leaves and let the serenity of the moment calm him. He reached over and patted Tal's knee as he enjoyed the moment. He was well aware of her distress, but knew the outcome of this conversation.

Well I really don't see why you're so down and I wouldn't worry about leaving tomorrow. This isn't your last day as a Jedi, it's your last day as a youngling. New things break on the horizon and your life truly begins today. Enjoy the peace of this moment and let all tension and doubts be taken away on the winds of change.

He hopped up quickly and stood in front of her smiling as he held his hand out to help her up. He had never felt this at ease except for before his master's death. He knew this was the right action and let the Force take him where he needed to be.

Come my apprentice, I have heard that there is an urgent Senate meeting taking place. It concerns our last mission and supposedly the Mandalorians have made a move to come to power once more. Let us train in the meantime until we are summoned to our next mission.

[Tal]

Tal stood with his help, and looked at him in disbelief. Had he really just said what she thought he had?

A....apprentice?....

She stammered, gazing up at him wide eyed, hardly daring to believe what she'd heard.

Are....are you really serious Vex?.....truely?

The Jedi helped his apprentice up with ease and smiling nodded his head once. He braced himself from the hug he knew was coming, but accepted the fact that it brought joy to his heart that the girl he had saved so long ago had been brought back to him somehow. He opened his arms in waiting for a hug.

Yes it is my dear. Somehow the Force has brought us back together. Now come here and give me a hug.

[Tal]

Tal was so excited she nearly bowled him over before he could get the words out of his mouth. She hugged him happily, and nearly danced on the spot with a new form of hope.

VEX! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

She shouted happily, making the group of padawans who had spoken to her turn around, startled by her sudden joy, watching her bounce around in her spot.

Vex smiled and let the girl be happy. Although the Jedi taught to not be led by your emotions Vex had a different outlook on it. He had taken his training in stride, but now that he was on his own and capable of his own learning about the Force, he had different opinions on certain things. Emotions were what made you human and alive.

You're quite welcome Tal, but can you let up just a little I'm having trouble breathing.

He barked a laugh as she squeezed him.

[Tal]

OH! I am SO sorry!

She said, chuckling and letting go of him, barely able to keep still now.

But....why me?...

She added, suddenly curious as to why he had chosen her and not a 'better' candidate for becoming a padawan.

Vex took a step back and smiled down at her. He quirked his head to the right at a small angle. He got a slight puzzled look on his face.

Well for one it's because we have history together. Even if it is tragic, but because since Subterrell we have already started a bond. I choose you because the Force has brought us together again. Let us walk, I have yet to stroll through courtyard yet.

He turned to walk towards the exit of the gardens and headed for the courtyard.
