Kha'bakkara was born on Ryloth to a corrupt Twi'lek senator's mistress. He was born into a life of poverty, living in the slums of his homeworld. Kha's mother had left the senator when she found she was pregnant with the Twi'lek male's baby. After leaving, she took what little money she had saved up from having a job as an actor and went off and disappeared into the slums. She had bought a very cheap shanty and the rest of her money "went up her nose". (As Kha always put it.) During his childhood, Kha's mother had become addicted to spice to escape the emotional and physical hardships of being a mother.
Many times, his mother would leave him with her brother, a hardened, ex-Republic Army veteran. The middle-aged man would often tell Kha about his journeys and battles, glorifying his service in the army. When Kha was old enough to hold a blaster, he taught the young boy how to shoot properly and trained him physically to be a soldier. Eventually, one day his mother never returned and his uncle adopted him.
