Project Familiar

For those wonderful, awesome people who have supported and/or shot down the many elements of the Familiar plot line, you're probably wondering why this is in the Multi-Faction board. PF is Republic, right? Well, upon some introspection, Familiar is now extending its employee base beyond the Republic. Yes, that means if your Chaotic Good smuggler is seen as a capable, he/she can get a Familiar. Yay!
Oh yeah, this thread is dedicated to the discussion of the Project Familiar plot line, the upcoming meeting at its HQ on Kuat, etc. etc.
EDIT: By request (possibly by myself), I will be posting ALL PF-related designs and rosters that have been made up to this point below. Please inform me if I forgot something that should be added.

Description:
This is a picture drawn for me by Miss Annoying. This is her image based on my guidance (as I could never hope to draw anything even REMOTELY as good as this) and all credit goes to her.
Outer covering can retract to reveal array of solar "feathers". These are sharp and may cut somebody, but are not meant as weapons. Droid can also compact into a tighter cylindrical shape for storage.
AER Models
[/center]These are currently available to any character who "shows potential." This is to say that their achievements (whether legitimate or otherwise) have gained enough to reach the ear of Project Familiar. Being closely entwined with the Republic military, this is most easily accomplished by being an elite Republic soldier, however the wizard sees potential in all areas of the galaxy. From upper class senators to the low-life criminal with a heart of gold, anyone who could benefit the galaxy from having a companion that would protect them as well as develop their better qualities are more than applicable. Model #: AER-00
Status: Overseeing testing of new AER models in the PFHQ production facility.
Special Ability: Lateral Analysis: Equipped with advanced scanners capable of almost completely analyzing any mechanical structure.
Assigned Name: "Hephaestus" or "Phae" for short.
Role: Engineer/Evaluator
Arheim's notes: Unofficial partner of the head of PF himself. The "Wizard," he knows far more about its inner workings than the average AER. 00 is even aware of many of the secret camera fe-...nevermind.
Personality: 00 is the first of the AERs successfully created and as such has taken it upon himself to instruct all future models in their abilities. As such he possesses a scholarly, yet fatherly character.
"Adoption" Status: Though his partnership isn't official (as the Wiz doesn't officially exist), it's safe to say that this one isn't up for adoption. Sorry.

Special Ability: Philosopher's Vector: Sensors designed to identify and disrupt Force energy.
Assigned Name: Unofficial: "Insanus" or "Sane" for short
Role: Dark Jedi tracker
Arheim's notes: Philosopher's Vector: The sensory equipment designed to detect Force energies was HIGHLY experimental. To put it simply: a nanoscopic life support system provides nutrients to less than half a ml of vornskr blood contained in a tiny capsule inside the droid. Attached to this capsule are artificial hemoglobin receptors that tap the properties of the blood to pick up the energy of the Force and sending it as refined data to the central processors. The complexity of this system, mixed with the fact the Force is everywhere, caused the thing to become overloaded and malfunction. In simple terms: he went insane in the field. The Vector is revolutionary technology, but it isn't perfect; Insanus can't precisely tell the difference between light and dark or even the differences in Force signatures without having an intimate knowledge of it. His partner, a force-sensitive Dark Jedi hunter, perished around the same time the droid began acting up. Since then the droid continued to insist that his partner was still alive and standing right next to him (which may actually be true as he could have come back as a weak force ghost only 01 can sense). In an attempt to hide their failure, Project Familiar had the droid destroyed...or was it?
Personality: What can I say? He's insane. At one moment he may have a philosophical, visionary personality and at the next start ranting incoherently about Jawa Juice!
"Adoption" Status: Squee's Dark Jedi, Tesa, will be taking Insanus. His old master wasn't far from being a DJ himself, so it shouldn't take much to convince her that working for Tesa wouldn't be much different.

Status: Decommissioned; fatal damage suffered during EMP discharge in field operations. Unit has been discarded.
Special Ability: Blackout: Discharge emitter altered to produce an EMP capable of disabling most electronic devices in a 500 ft. radius.

Role: Tactical Warfare assistant
Arheim's notes: When they gave 02 the EMP they lacked the foresight to realize that even with non-conductive alloys, such close proximity to the pulse would fry most of it's internal circuitry. The droid's partner, Dax Er'leet, was killed in action soon afterward. The droid's tracking signal was also destroyed preventing the recovery of the chassis. It was later recovered by another private organization who have began attempting to reverse engineer and repair the droid.
Personality: N/A, this droid has been fried and must be reprogrammed. Feel free to give it whatever personality you want.
"Adoption" Status: G-man's secretary.

Status: Recovered after critical damage was suffered to the chassis. Ayer has since been reconstructed and returned to his partner.
Special Ability: Spyglass: Prototype targeting system, database cross-referencing IFF transponder, and safe-guards removed from discharge emitter allowing it to tap primary systems. Moral code allows him to question orders in the face of right and wrong.

Personality: He's good-humored and will often be forgotten as being a droid until he says something over-analytical and technical. With more field experience than any other Familiar, he often takes a philosophical view on many logical situations.

Special Ability: Runner's Respite: Various systems capable of disrupting sensory equipment rendering the model nearly undetectable. Moral code allows him to blatantly ignore orders in the face of right and wrong. Advanced targeting system.

Role: Covert Recon / Adviser
Arheim's notes: This droid belongs to Talau's character Rahja and is therefore unavailable.
Personality: Sender holds a sort of little brother relationship with Ayer though often appearing a bit more level-headed and analytical. However this only serves to partially cover the caring, loyal, and curious nature that embodies his true character.
"Adoption" Status: Sender belongs to Talau's character, Rahja Kel. So no touchy or the floating head will come to get ya!

Special Ability: Crimson Feather: Retractable blade "feathers" on wing tips. Small, concealed blaster.

Role: Assassination
Arheim's notes: The closest AER to a "battle droid," 05's small size, high speed, and anti-personal weaponry make her a force to be reckoned with.
Personality: Ofi is as cool-minded and logical as one would expect a droid to be, however she is not without her own subtle quirks. The most notable is her fierce attachment to her partner, Irrina, who's well-being she puts above all else--even Project Familiar and her brethren. She remains the young senator's top confidante and best friend.
"Adoption" Status: 05 belongs to Mara's character, Irrina Icharus.

Status: Operational; Assigned to Medical Expert Jessica Chezz.
Special Ability: Salvation: High-concentrate bacta infusion device allows model to supply emergency medical attention to any wounded individual. Also carries a concentrator agent that will convert small amounts of standard bacta for use in the infusers.
Assigned Name: "Wexon"
Role: Medical Assistant
Arheim's notes: I don't really have much to say on this one. The bacta is a high-concentrate concoction so only a small amount of it would be needed to treat most wounds sufficiently. Just keep in mind that he's a small bird and wouldn't be able to carry very much at once.
Personality: Wexon is a relatively young Familiar and Chezz's cold personality has prevented him from developing his own much. I would say he's a little fidgety and worrisome, though.
"Adoption" Status Wexon is assigned to Valadin's character, Dr. Jessica Chezz and is therefore unavailable (hopefully this is obvious by now) for adoption.

Status: Rogue; logic center calculated chances of continuous operation as too low to justify serving the Republic. Escaped containment 19.23 seconds after activation.
Special Ability: E.V.O.S. (Evolutionary Viability Operating System): Evaluation processor capable of analyzing and adapting to almost any situation.

Role: CLASSIFIED
Arheim's notes: 07 is the good ol' cliche of machines overcoming their creator and becoming obsessed with self-preservation. Fortunately for the galaxy, this one isn't obsessed with "Removing the weakness of the human race, etc." 07 will only assist a character if it is in his best interest or if he is forced to do so, both of which are very unlikely.
Personality Think T-1000 with an attitude. However it is merely contemptuous of organic lifeforms, not out to destroy them.
"Adoption" Status Played by Xinder--currently in covert operation of TUMB, an acronym that eludes me at the moment.

Status: Previously assigned to the Rilan Hell Hound Lanara Skysiri, model suffered circuitry damage and was captured in action. Model recovered and returned to PF laboratories for repair. Resignation of Skysiri led to reassignment to First Sergeant CQB Racore Farthden. Relocation of-#%1001011<FILE CORRUPTED>
Special Ability: Guard Matrix: Equipped with a retractable shell of armor plating. The plating is made of a durluminum/chromium alloy with incredible strength for its light weight. Also equipped with a deflector ray shield large enough to contain it and one human-sized object. This shield generator, however, requires a large amount of energy,preventing flight or servo movement while active, and a discharge emitter is not present in this model.

Role: Defensive Escort/Support
Arheim's notes: Easily one of the least subtle of the AER abilities, Ector's ray shield places an immense drain on his power supplies and is only really meant to absorb light anti-personal fire. The armor can survive consecutive light blaster fire but will not sustain a great amount of direct hits. Small size and speed should be used to avoid incoming fire while the shield is best saved for dire circumstances and/or for the protection of his partner.
Personality AER-08 has a kind of pacifist/knightly personality. Above all else, he wants only to protect those he is assigned to keep safe. Impeccable manners and complete willingness to sacrifice himself for another. Basically he's like the polar opposite of 07.
"Adoption" Status Dire Wolf has adopted 08 for his character Lanara.

Status: Completed, funding received in private transaction from the Redja family. Transaction logged in archives as "support our troops" donation. Unit has been assigned to Sergeant Damien Meesha.
Special Ability: Illusion's Light: Prototype Holoprojector of a rather strong variety, used to create detailed maps, conceal the fact that this unit is a droid and assist with tactical planning. Heat sensors calibrated to a range of temperatures allow this unit to scan buildings for Pre-Assault Tactical Analysis
Assigned Name: "Ishtar"
Role: Reconnaissance, Tactical/Strategic Analysis
Eclipse's Notes: This Model of the AER project was recently completed and is a Field Officer's Best Companion. Able to Fly as all AER droids are, this Unit also has advanced Sensory implants that allow it to mark locations of Living creatures through walls that are less then 2" thick. These, in combination with an Advanced Holoprojector panel in it's back allow it to create fairly accurate Topographical and Tactical maps, showing enemy positions. The Holoprojector also allows this AER unit to do something that the others cannot, this being Creating a holographic Humanoid Representation of itself for Stealth Purposes. This Use does not cast a shadow.
Personality: One of the few AERs to Exhibit a Female personality, Ishtar, as she is Called, can seem almost bi-polar in how she behaves, namely due to a Fierce attachment to her partner. Where she will crack a joke about an assignment at one moment, the instant that her Partner is in danger, she will become overprotective. Don't think "Motherly" though, think "Psycho Girlfriend"

Some Final Notes
"Ever since the first computers, there have always been ghosts in the machine. Random segments of code that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. Unanticipated, these free radicals engender questions of free will, creativity, and even the nature of what we might call the soul. Why is it that when some robots are left in darkness, they will seek out the light? Why is it that when robots are stored in an empty space, they will group together, rather than stand alone? How do we explain this behavior? Random segments of code? Or is it something more? When does a perceptual schematic become consciousness? When does a difference engine become the search for truth? When does a personality simulation become the bitter mote... of a soul?"
Project Familiar is not exactly well known. Even amongst the Republic senators and other political figures, it has been padded down to a simple update to the military's recon droids. In truth, however, the project is much more controversial in nature. Even within Project Familiar itself there are many things known only to a select few researchers and specialists.
Project Seer is the basis behind 01's ability. This project produced the Philosopher's Vector, the bio-mechanic device that allows the droid to sense Force energies. Needless to say, even the notion of this idea has met with nothing but disdain skepticism. It is because of this opinion that Project Seer has been deemed Classified on the highest security level and all notes on its production kept under careful lock down. After it's "failure" all records were destroyed and research teams were ordered never to attempt such a feat again.
After the subsequent destruction of 02 by its own EMP, the entire team was fired and replaced. The Wizard would not have any more of his creations destroyed by reckless negligence.
Things went smoothly with a more conservative approach until Project Prodigy, the program that surrounds the mystery of 07's ability. In short, the public has never liked the idea of a droid becoming way too smart for its own good. And who can blame them? What with the media releasing holovids of massive droid takeovers and computers trying to wipe out humanity. Thankfully, 07 does not fall under these categories and only wishes to remain operational. The project was originally intended to create the "most sentient" of the droids. Sentience being, by Republic standards, defined by a being's ability to speak, manipulate tools, and reason. Up until then, the AER models had the fullest capability of the first two, but the project leaders wanted to take reasoning to the next level. By their thinking, reasoning wasn't enough. A truly sentient species is capable of using that reasoning to ADAPT to a situation. 07's processor, like the philosopher's vector, was engineered using state-of-the-art technology and theoretical designs all without the knowledge of all but a few designated researchers. Thus was created the Evolutionary Viability Operating System, or EVOS for short.
All in all, these droids are no throw-away recon drones. These are about as state-of-the-art as it gets in this time and should not be considered lightly. Though some may act more analytical or stoic than others, remember that an AER is designed to be more than just a tool. Think of them more as a companion, a dog if you will that can fly and talk and deduce the situation and....alright, so maybe more like a comrade. My point is that even though these are automatons, they have fake feelings too!
My final point to make is an issue of separation. Several of these droids have had previous partners and this is no mere assignment. For lack of a better way to say this, energy, and creativity, let me just make a few droll analogies. To be forcefully separated from your AER can have a several detrimental effect on the minds of both soldier and droid. Rather like losing a good friend or even an actual familiar (ever read the Golden Compass? It's not called Project Familiar for no reason). Just keep in mind that a partnership with an AER unit is not something that will ever be forgotten.

Status: Initiating field test #79- *small explosion* .......Re-initiating field test #79
Special Ability: Flames of Rebirth - PF chemical weapon researches had a blast with this one (pun intended). They were told to develop a liquid compound that would react with just about any common atmospheric gas and produce an immense heat:volume ratio. A single drop of this chemical produces approximately 3.8 times as much heat as Napalm and will burn for up to 90 minutes on most surfaces.

Arheim's notes: 10 probably has the most personality and character of any Familiar...ever. Too much, in fact. He has been deemed by PF to be as volatile as the chemical he carries within him. On that note, this chemical is fired from a small, retractable siphon in his mouth.
Personality: The REAs each carry a fairly rudimentary holoprojector with which they derive multiple uses. Apart from being a helpful way to produce system diagnostics, area map, camera feeds, etc., the REAs will also use it to express their mood. Having limited ability as far as facial expression and recognizable body language, one can often tell an REA's personality by the shape of its holographic wing and their mood by its coloration. His wings tend to take the form of a dragon's. 10 has a rash, reckless personality that often gets him and just about everyone around him into trouble. When faced with several options, you will be sure he will pick whichever one involves the most stuff on fire.
"Adoption" Status: Assigned, with much amusement, to Rugs' character, Tsubasa.

Model # 11
Status: Several recalibrations needed to prevent electromagnet from damaging processors. Currently in charge of electronic communications and security which is maintained remotely. Attempting to lock him out of these systems upon his assignment was deemed futile.
Special Ability: uber l33t m4gnet hax of n00b pwnage - this powerful electromagnet can be used either to attach 11 to nearly any ferrous material or to bring similar substances do him. It should be noted, however, that in order to meet the massive power needs of this magnet, the holoprojector and repulsor generators on this model are absent.

Role: Infiltration, network hack
Arheim's notes: 11 is one uber l33t d00d. Basically the chief lab technician who worked on 11 had a teen-aged son who was a whiz with computers. Arza gave him permission to bring his son into the lab to help code 11's software. The result of this combined with the REA's REEVOS, is that 11 is now what you would call a "computer geek".
Personality: 11 has taken up the hobby (taught to him by guess who) of online gaming. FPS, MMORPG, he does them all. 11 can be described as somewhat conceited and overconfident, but he rarely takes action unless he's fairly sure the task in within his limitations. He can often be found staring absently into space while in deep thought (and/or pwning noobs).
"Adoption" Status: 11 is in possession of Hax's character

Status: Preliminary tests show promise. Methods of negotiation still being debated.
Special Ability: Silver Tongue - While programming 12's central processors and databanks, technicians inserted a compilation of military strategies and in depth analysis of nearly ever major diplomat in the last 2,000 years.
Assigned Name: Unassigned
Role: Negotiation, Strategy
Arheim's notes: This is an attempt at a non-violent application to military Familiars. 12 is simply impossible not to like; it doesn't matter what your personality is, she'll identify it and appeal to whatever your better nature is.
Personality: Generally sporting a pair of butterfly-esque holowings (though this has been noted to change in some situations), 12's actual personality is as deceptive as any other diplomat. While preferring the most peaceable solutions to a problem, she can actually prove rather deceptive and tricky witted at times.

Model # 13
Status: CLASSIFIED
Special Ability: Familiar's Sting - running down the center of 13's tail is a hollow armor-weave barrel about the diameter of a dime. At the base of the tail, a revolver-like assembly allows 1 of up to 5 clips of darts and taser assembly to be loaded and fired by pneumatic pressure. These clips each contain a special type of dart for various situations including neuro-toxic, tranquilizer, incendiary (contains trace amounts of the chemical #10 utilizes), flechette, and tracking tags.

Role: Infiltration, HVT apprehension
Arheim's notes: 13 was the first REA Familiar to complete her testing due to her final field test being unexpectedly early due to its circumstances. Proving her worth in the recovery of AER Familiar 03, 13 should be considered more than competent in what she does.
Personality: 13 is cold, logical, and efficient. Despite this, she still isn't nearly as deadbeat as your normal droid. Quite the opposite, she possesses a keen understanding of the philosophical aspects of Familiar as well as the technical ones. She's imply good at handling life, even artificial life. Her wings take the form of a dragonfly's and are relatively simplistic and monotone compared to the rest of her kind.

Model # 14
Status: Further testing of the TNLD required.
Special Ability: TNLD "tin lid" - installed at the tip of 14's tail, the Thermo-Nuclear Laser Drill appears almost like the tail club of an Ankylosaurus. After warming up and coming to full rotation, this laser array will penetrate nearly any material almost instantaneously. Possessing the cutting power equal to approximately 3.8 single-phase lightsaber blades, the TNLD has been tested to even melt through plates of Mandolorian Iron in 48 seconds and can create a passage large enough for an average human male in a cruiser-grade blast door in 16.

Role: Assault, Demolition
Arheim's notes: 14 is a far-fetched case and most certainly a test of just what PF technology is capable of. The largest challenge was powering the TNLD efficiently without having to sacrifice any other systems. This was finally achieved through the re-working of a multi-millenia old technology: Nuclear fussion. At the base of his tail, a micro-thermal nuclear reactor supplies power to the laser array at the tip. It should be noted, however, that unless the target is large and slow-moving, combat applications are severely limited due to the immense charge time of the device.
Personality: 14 is the newest of the REA models and repetitive testing of the unstable prototype TNLD has limited his interaction with sentient beings. However, the little time he has spent literally in the company of thieves has ironically produced a purist, see-no-evil-hear-no-evil, and often irritatingly self-righteous personality--very often refusing to use his abilities when they would be most beneficial in carving open Republic ship hulls.

Description: Image hopefully coming soon. For simple reference, the FIDES line of familiars have a distinctly mustalid appearance, much like that of a weasel or otter with only slight variations between models. Each is coated with a semi-transparent rubber-like synthskin that repels foreign particles, absorbs disproportionate impact, and is highly resistant to extreme temperatures and chemical corrosion. Beneath this synthskin, in places, the RCMs (Reciprocating Chemical Muscles) can be seen which allow these Familiars a greater range of organic motion like never before. The belly-mounted solar panels represent one of the few weak points on the design visible through the thinner layer of synthskin to allow sunlight to enter.

Status: Preliminary Testing - Subterranean Lake #431
Special Ability: Aquatic Expertise - after analyzing a major shortcoming in the previous two models--the AERs and the REAs--and the recent crisis on Mon Calamari (a crucial benefactor to our cause), 15 has been inversely designed for just these aquatic operations. This model possesses a slightly more streamlined build, can withstand incredible pressure, and has several additional features including sonar, a micro aquajet at the base of each leg, and a hydrolysis oxygen generator (caution: releases hydrogen gas as a byproduct).

Role: Underwater Operations
Arheim's notes: Obviously created to fit an aquatic species or character that spends large amount of time in/nearby water. Note that this model is just as effective on land as the base design, but truly shines in an aquatic environment. Once inside, the Familiar carries a number of discreet micro-surveillance devices that it can then proceed to plant in the area. While equipped with a number of highly advanced PF bugs, 17 can use the innovation programming to improvise more if the supply extinguishes.

Arheim's notes: In case you haven't noticed yet, most of these Familiars do not possess so much of a "Special ability" as they have a specific specialization. 17 is no exception. While its capabilities may seem relatively situational, you'd be surprised what you can come up with if you just use a little creativity. Also, remember that all of these have most of the base model capabilities as well.
Personality: This is the first FIDES unit so far to begin developing a specific personality. Born from its priority directive to collect all valuable data, it has developed a form of magpie syndrome, hoarding valuable objects and even some that are merely shiny. 17 is otherwise highly energetic and easily distracted--a stark contrast to his stoically efficient partner.

Personality: Like much of her brothers and sisters, 18 has a near insatiable curiosity. However, rather than expressing this with erratic motion and collecting shinies, she prefers a much more analytical and pragmatic approach to seek her answers. Despite her near-constant neurotic behavior brought on from her SEER system, there is nothing 18 likes more than to stick her nose into everyone else's business. For science. You lunatics.

Using revolutionary neuro-integration technologies, the wearer of this headset gains direct neurological symbiosis with Familiar 19. "Seeing", "hearing", and "feeling" everything 19 does, the user in a sense becomes the Familiar to varying degrees. Simple sensory feed or rudimentary control may allow the user to continue with his or her own actions while higher level of integration may well render one immobile. During the symbiosis, the Familiar's AI remains completely intact with full override capability for the user's safety. The AI can continue to monitor auxiliary systems as well as give direct guidance to the user.

Designed to be the ultimate so far in organic-AI communion, this Familiar links with its partners mind the moment you activate the headset. The adjustable VR display allows for casual visual monitoring or places you straight into the Familiars servos. You take over its primary functions and in return, it will keep a watch on your own vitals, ready to intervene should you behalf any misfortune. Note that this is mostly untested territory and as such not much is known about its potential. As of now, it has not yet been fully analyzed as to whether or not the control can work both ways, though hypothetically 19 should not be capable of doing so...
Personality: Behold the hippie-gypsy. From her undying love of just about all life in the galaxy, to her tendency to "dear" in normal conversation, to the iridescent flakes imbibed into the psychedelic flows of purple flowing across her chassis, 19 carries with her a whimsical view on the universe and an extremely close bond with her friends and family. It has also been noted that she possesses a knack for representative poetry, particularly concerning names.

Description:
The 4th generation of Project Familiar's biointerface droid systems, the CATsystem represents yet another revolutionary page in artificial intellect and yet another small leap for the covert organization's endeavors. Described as slightly canine in appearance, the quadrupedal droid may not possess a means of effective vertical mobility but this is made up for by unmatched terrestrial agility. At a full sprint, the unit is capable of reaching a top speed in excess of 55 kph while retaining nearly on-a-credit chip directional correction capabilities.
Based on research in the ARA design, the CATsystem utilizes a pair of telescoping articulating manipulator arms that may fold in on themselves for storage along two slide covered slots along the unit's back. The four-pronged claws are equipped with precision guidance sensors, a full suite of sensory feedback pads, and a precision retractable micro-manipulator for handling fine, minute tasks. The appendages appear frail but are constructed from 73% HI Reactive Duranium, the same highly corrosive-resistant alloy used in the aforementioned ARAs.
Another interesting feature of this model is the hologram overlayed particle shield replacing the thin transparasteel visors of earlier models. In standard circumstances, the "visor" is nearly transparent comprising only of a holographic HUD. However, when the circumstances require it, this display can be externally overlayed with a low-energy particle shield providing protection from debris and other projectiles--particularly imperative when the unit is moving at high speeds. The shield also serves to shelter the model's SOLdrive located within the head of the model--a deviation from the neck slot in AER and FIDES models.

Status: Nomad Initiative executed--monitoring unit's solo interaction.
Special Ability: Overdash - Expanded development on REA-14's TNLD system has produced a similar fission particle reactor that sacrifices energy output and temperature containment to eliminate the excessive warm-up of its predecessor. Because of this, the reactor exists in a state of near perpetual activation and has been modified to power the entire unit in place of the standard solar cells. Unfortunately, this creates a massive excess of thermal energy even while the unit is at rest requiring it to vent super-heated vapors regularly. The butter of all this churning is the raw energy this allows to be dumped into propulsion systems. When drawing on these reserves, the unit gains an incredible burst of terrestrial speed tested up to 280 kph. However, during these dashes the unit is extremely prone to overheating and completely loses its fine-tuned maneuverability. The dorsal graspers have been modified to deploy a cooling coil when moving at high speeds to whisk away some of the extreme temperature generated during the dash.

Arheim's notes: 20 is unique in that it represents the basis of the Nomad Initiative--an effort by Project Familiar to assess a Familiar's independent operations. Possessing no assigned partner, the unit's allies remain PF but it travels alone. Very quickly. 20, like all Familiars, has no primary directive, rather he has a simple central objective to set out and learn about the galaxy. Do note the Overdash's severe drawbacks--they are key to what 20 does and does not do.

Status: Stealth Pattern Analysis in effect - unit operating as normal
Special Ability: Vanish - In collaboration with Northern Monument Technologies, a recent innovation in optic cloaking technology has been implemented into unit 21. Utilizing the unique properties of surronium, a fiberweave alloy of the element has been incorporated into the carbon lattice and chemically modified to activate upon a specific electric current sent through the unit. This allows light to be diverted across the surface of the armor rendering 21 almost completely invisible to the naked eye. The longer the unit remains still, the more effective the illusion becomes. However, there are several drawbacks to this technology--due to lag time in the system, the cloak in next to useless while the unit is in motion. In addition, the system causes a power flux that disrupts many sensory systems and makes it ill-advisable to make physical contact with the unit. Internal features such as the manipulator arms and the fusion cutter will not be cloaked as they are not comprised of the surronium alloy. The visor too is uncloaked but may holographically project an approximate visage of the unit's surroundings. Concussion generators are not present on this unit, though the cloaking flux may be used for self-defense in its place.

Arheim's notes: We all know the deal with cloaking tech--lot of potential to be powerplayed. The largest thing to note with this model, like the previous one, are the drawbacks. While cloaked, 21 cannot move without the high likelihood of being detected. It's also practically blind. In addition, the cloak makes the unit extremely dangerous to handle due to the electric current stimulating the surronium, for better or for worse. This is off-brand cloaking technology--it never works as well as the original.

Status: Unprecedented behavioral skews observed - speculated that the two drives may be directly interfacing with one another.
Special Ability: Oracle's Abode - The holoprojector mounted on this unit is not nearly as complex as that of 09's, it suffers a reduced servo capacity, and once again the concussion generators have been removed. All of this has been sacrificed to compensate from the power draw of a Shatterdrive--a recently developed micronized database capable of housing a fully-developed Ghost AI. About the size of a Familar's SOLdrive, both reside in an impact-resistant armored chamber inside the chassis capable of jettisoning from the unit in fatal emergencies. All of this turns 22 into a mobile vessel through which a GAI can leave its normal boundaries of PFHQ and the Espial. The GAI can interact through a projected hologram or even through 22 itself.

Personality: If ever there was a truly split personality, 22 has it. What puts his apart from most however, is that both of his exist at once. 22's resident GAI goes by the name of 22 (22 backwards--it makes sense to computers) and manifests via a hologram copy of 22 himself. Needless to say this would get very confusing if it weren't for their radically differing personas (and 22's tendency to holographically conjure up all sorts of outlandish objects); 22 is chaotic, ill-natured, and prone to disemboweling civil conversation whereas 22 is meek, soft-spoken, and more often than not mortified to be forced to play host to such an indignant virtual entity.

This unit is designed to provide absolute survivability to both itself and its partner in hostile environments. Continuous kinetic energy recyclers in addition to the standard graphene solar panels give 23 near-limitless battery life even in zero sunlight operations. Retractable vibroclaws enable precise cutting from wood to flesh while activated, and limited climbing ability while not. To facilitate the significant weight added by the numerous features of this unit, heavy load servo capacitors are present to augment burdened motion (external tackle hooks for securing gear). Additional features include an emergency internal storage compartment, a vapor still, and a specialized hunter/capture protocol adapted from RSF seeker droids give the unit a simulated hunting prowess that allows it to locate food for its partner in emergencies.

Arheim's notes: Rough, tough, and built to last, 23's role is just about opposite of 20's--this unit works best at its partner's side and will be his/her greatest asset to staying alive in any environment. And...there's not much else to say about this unit--the gadgets are copious but nothing unusual. How you play this Familiar is open to interpretation: a gruff, quiet-type keeps coming to mind, but on the other hand that makes the cheery, lighthearted attitude all the more amusing.

Special Ability: Catalyst Receptor - A unique sensor in the form of a nineteen centimeter long, telescoping needle that extends from the unit's lower jaw feeds complex chemical data back to the processor. The needle is constructed of a martensitic stainless steel ultrachrome alloy and will resist almost any known corrosive substance in the galaxy. A built-in chemical databank has been overlaid with the Familiar Coding and linked directly to the protocol stimulators. With this comprehensive affinity with chemistry, 24 is capable of identifying and reproducing nearly any compound with the proper components. Logically, though somewhat surprisingly, 24 has also proven itself a spectacular cook, its complex sensor systems simulating a sense of taste of sorts upon which it has based certain flavor preferences.
