Fleeing from a fight she was supposed to throw, Vesta seems trapped in an alley facing down a group of thugs. She is saved, however by Ryn and Sam and offered a job with them. Seeing no other alternative, Vesta accepts and aids the two in freeing a slave before the three escape Tatooine.
What did the five fingers say to the face?
Struggling with her limited use of the Force, Vesta accompanies Sam and Ryn as they change ships on Zeltros. But chaos ensues when they arrive at the home of Sam's friend only to witness it explode. The team races to their new ship, only to find pirates. In the presence of one of the pirates, an insane dark Jedi, Vesta is assaulted by a repressed memory of her dark past. As the troubles continue, Ryn battles the insane dark Jedi and Sam is kidnapped. Vesta and Ryn set out to reclaim her, facing more challenges along the way.

Life and questions send Vesta on a seperate path than Ryn and Sam. At Ryn's suggestion, Vesta seeks out a strange Order known as the Stellar Mythics. Upon arrival, she finds that the Mythics find her. She meets Kvothe and Math, two odd Mythics in a Cantina on Aiaru. They offer her a ride back to the Tower.
