Dis is the culmination of nearly eight years of work by a thirty man team headed by doctor Elinore Winslow. Beginning with the MkI unit codenamed Horror a testing plate form for new technologies the Havok project has been striving to create a fully autonomous droid unit for Special Operations support and possible full use. Horror was really a test bed for the new prototype AI data cores using the frame of a standard Sith Infantry support droid, and After numerous test; including a combat deployment in the role of a riot unit (Riot quelled, casualties:210, Acceptable), R&D decided it was time to produce a purpose built unit to house the AI system.
As Such production began on the MKII unit codenamed Dis to house a modified and updated Haze AI core. Survivability of the prototype was considered key particularly in the hopes that the MKII would reach full military testing, as such Advanced multilayer armor was used in his construction as well as multiple armored bays for much of is still top secret systems. Dis as the MKII unit also gained the benefit of SOCG's insistence that the sentient unit be equipped with have a personality as such the TTN-1 personality matrix was installed in the frame along with several other off the shelf and specialty components.
Dis went trough a intense series of testing and modifications for months before the Sith Military was even made aware that the MKII unit had even been finished and while flaws were found in the Personality matrix's connection to the AI system, the decision was made to continue on with evaluation despite them. Dis' first series of test was a group of simple conceptual and planning tests which Dis easily passed while displaying a somewhat arrogant and aloft personality; command demanded personality changes weeding out a least some of dis' arrogance, followed by a serious of simple combat tests.
Finally the MkII unit was cleared for field test though fear of capture; or possible failure, stopped it from being deployed to field units instead it was sent to the 22nd peace keeping division on the world of Korriban. During this deployment Dis, much to his chagrin found himself spending the majority of what he considered valuable time as little more than a stationary turret protecting this armor or that. Finally a event occurred that trust Dis into something of a spot light as a city wide riot begun in one of the few dense metropolitan regions of the world.
It was Ironic that Dis was being deployed into the same complex situation as his predecessor. Dis marched along with the Sith Armored personnel carriers down the center of one of the cities main north west roads. The APC's formed a blockade across the road blockading it as dis Climbed up on the center divider of the road. The droid stood tall on the barricade absent mindedly spinning the six barrels of his mini gun back and forth as he waited for something more interesting than a few shouts to be thrown at him.
Dis was the first to her the sound of a engine as the droid turned his head as he slouched against the side of one of the APC's towards the hill top across from them. The combat droid finally levered himself into a standing position as a large civilian Tracked transport came roaring over the hill towards the blockade. The droid lept from the blockade into action before most of the officers had even readied their weapons or turned the APC's turret towards the vehicle. Calls to stop failed to stop the vehicle much to the droid's apparent pleasure as he let a rocket fly into the nose of the Transport sending flaming wreckage; and more than a few body parts, flying through the air, but he was not through as he began sending bursts of 13mm rounds into club armed rioters running from the vehicle.
If it had ended there the mission would have been a great success. Unfortunately, the heavy droid did not stop instead it sprayed yet more rounds into the crowds of unfortunate bystanders and gawkers. The Official report said that many in the crowd where armed, though no hard evidence has ever been offered to confirm this. As for dis the droid was rapidly removed from Korriban and rushed back to the research facility on Munnlist.
The exact reason for ASOTU's withdraw was never stated in any released papers, but the long deactivation period of six months recorded in Dis' chronological circuits would seem to indicate some great modifications where made to his software. Unknown to the droid his inbuilt ethics and inhibition software was reprogrammed virtually from scratch. Along with the vague feeling of something "wrong" in his droidic mind, Dis also awoke in a strange place with a strange paint job. The droid struggled in the tight confines of a durasteel coffin even as his sensors detected a small amount of heating before the pod suddenly lit brightly and soared in temperature.
The racket was intense as the hull of the droid struck the inside of what the droid finally himself recognized as a drop pod. Skimming along the atmosphere the pod was nothing more than a streak of bright light as it hurtled planet ward. The pod jerked hard, hard enough that the droid ripped lose the bindings holding it simply with the jerk of his weight as the pod decelerated on it's retro thrusters before the pod virtually exploded dropping the droid the last few yards into a ungainly heap in half a meter of water.
Data finally streamed in illuminating a battle plan buried in the recesses of the druid's mind. Dragging it's self out of the water the droid soggily stamped it's way into the deserted sea front of a small fishing village. A garish blue pointer as always flared on the droid's "eyes" The mission was simple eliminate a rebel hot spot on the behalf of a sovereign government. Unfortunately that hot spot happened to be half a world away from the droid's splash down point. Considering the droids act of kicking a cat carcass far out to sea the droid was not pleased with this development, despite that it began it's long march.
It took the droid nearly a month to hack it's way thought the swamps and rain forests of the world's delta region in the middle of the monsoon season. The droid was disgusted with the rust and mud plastered on his frame and had begun to look for nothing more than a slaughter and a scrubbing once back on a sith vessel. The eventual find though was disappointing namely nothing the entire outpost was a deserted ruin. Some one walking past could have seen the droid destroying most of what was left of the camp in frustration and indeed in this case there were people watching.
Unknown to Dis the rebels were eliminated weeks after he arrived and unwilling to sacrifice the chance to test their creations leaked information of a illegal automaton to the planet's militia. Of course this automaton was Dis and the planets militia had dispatched a rather large and well furbished unit to a rather familiar abandoned rebel camp.
