Dam nothing ever happens in the senate and I think we should discuss ideas for the senate as a whole here.

I agree. We need to get our senators more involved, esp. with the appointing of a new Chancellor.

Oh, I wasn't talking about voting for a new one; just perhaps now that we have a new Chancellor with different ideals, the senators have a chance of being more open, either agreeing or disagreeing with the war.

When Cyberguy set up this place he had Devaron set as Independant/Neutral which may be because of the events we've had take place during the rp.
They have faced something of a civil war driven by gender and the unfair treating of rights. There was a Jedi task force sent to sort out these events in an rp mission, myself (as Vreem), Meira, Halmtier and Kay were involved. However, with Kay's busy life and Halmtier's disappearance, it never really got finished. I know Kay had it planned out in her head and it may have ended with the planet joining the Republic again.
But yes, before you consider the Devaron thing you need to take into consideration the past events in terms of this site, which were not concluded and therefore leaving them pretty much in limbo. And also, the fact that this system of power/control is very much derived from their culture and their history. They have been running like this for over ten thousand years whilst being part of the Republic and they continue to do so by means of canon. And also factor into it that whilst they are members of the Republic, this still leaves them entitled to their cultural systems and procedures. Given the likely power, influence and age of the Devaronians in the Republic and the Senate, I think it's safe to say there's a reason their gender dimorphism has run strong and, by canon events, still continues after our time frame.
So I don't know where that leaves you on that matter, due to the ambiguity of events that precede and continue on after our current time frame.
Just thought I'd chip in with that.

I would imagine that post-3602 BBY canon is somewhat irrelevant here, as every RP posted on this site has the ability to greatly alter established Galactic events (especially since the release of information concerning canon events taking place during our timeframe through the SW:TOR site).
Also, I am sure that Senators would have power to at least attempt to do something about the situation. Although planets must retain a great deal of social and political autonomy, it is also important that all citizens of the Republic are given equal rights, regardless of species, gender or religion. Even if the attempts were defeated, it would make sense to have a few senators trying to make a change (just look at real world examples where members of organisations like the UN try to override national autonomy in the name of equality).

Yay, senator party!
As for topics... I'm really open to anything. It doesn't have to be Devaron. I'm sure there are lots of injustices throughout the galaxy.
Also, we could just discuss, informally and not when the senate is in session, about thoughts on the Chancellor's war. Might be fun for a few senators.
