Childhood
Gosely was born on Coruscant, and right from birth - he was worth nothing. His parents had almost no money to split between them, and the only places they could afford to stay in were run down apartments - and occasionally a makeshift shelter on some of the lower levels. And yet despite these hardships, Gosely was brought up in a very loving environment; his parents did not care about the fact that they were dirt poor, the fact that they had a family going made them the happiest people in the galaxy. Gosely was fairly lucky, in that his mother had aspired to be a teacher during the younger portion of her life, and was able to educate him through a series of programs and readings on her old Data pad. He immediately grew attached to the learning process, and advanced through the home schooling programs fairly quickly - and likely became even advanced in comparison to other students his age who were able to attend school. He seemed to excel mostly in math and science, though he did show aptitude for language skills, to an extent. Unfortunately, Gosely lacked greatly when it came to his physical abilities. The family was almost never able to afford proper meals, and so he had very little energy as a child - and stayed fairly skinny through the majority of his life (Also in part to his metabolism, which caused him to need less sleep than the average human.) Gosely was most certainly not an athlete, and it affected him through his entire life, because he was likely weaker than the average human.
Teenage Years
Living on Coruscant in the lower levels took a toll on Gosely, but fortunately he was spared a brutal adolescence amongst the gangs and crime that took place there. When he was thirteen, his mother managed to land a job as a teacher, which ended up being a huge source of pride for the family, especially since they could finally afford a decent apartment. It also meant that Gosely was finally able to attend an actual school, even if it was a fairly low-end one - it still gave him access to computer systems and other technology that he was able to use to extend his academic abilities.
Outside of school, he began to make friend that weren’t associated with crime or other negative activities - which was a relief to his parents, because they had thought that his ‘imprisonment’ in the lower levels would have caused him to seek out the sort of people that he was familiar with. Instead, he associated himself with some of the smartest people in the school, which greatly aided him in his studies. The young teen gained an even large appetite for knowledge than he had previously known, and the school facilities had to endure his long visits after school hours - with science and math again, being his main focus.
Additionally, it was at the age of fifteen, where Gosely had his first encounter with a star fighter. He was on his way home from school, when a small star fighter was shot down out of one of the traffic lanes, presumably from some sort of mercenary or bounty contract - and smashed into the walkway in front of him, causing a tremendous noise, and a great deal of damage to the platform. The pilot was unfortunately killed, but the incident drew Gosely in to the sheer power that the aerial craft could harness, and instantly became quite interested in how the aircraft worked.
Now at seventeen years old, the brilliant teen needed something more hands on that he could work with, but unfortunately, he did not have the resources or the money available to work on projects involving star fighter related content. He decided to enter himself into a university contest, by using the money he had saved up since he had been a child to have a false ID forged, which would allow him to participate in the contest, claiming he had graduated high school already. His plan went of almost flawlessly, and he entered the designs for his entry - but while his designs were clearly quite advanced for someone of his age, the university students were that much more advanced, and he only ranked in the lower section of the top 100’s (Still quite an achievement.) However, the professors could easily tell the ID had been forged, and they were interested in meeting Gosely, if not to understand why he would commit a crime to enter the contest. Upon arriving at his apartment with the authorities, they expressed interest in his potential, and eventually agreed to let him bypass the remainder of his high school career, and study at the university exclusively on a star ship engineering course.
University Years
Gosely’s years in college were likely the ones where his intelligence rose dramatically. He spent day after day simply reading text books and attending classes, giving up almost all of his spare time to work on learning everything there was to know about star fighters, and just ships in general. The only bad thing that this brought him, was a lack of friends. He poured all his time into his work, and rarely ever saved any time for recreation (Especially since, for him, these activities were spectacularly fun - and didn’t consider them a chore at all.) During his years in university he met Daniel Richards, a man who became his current partner, but who would later betray him. Richards had in his possession, immense wealth. Together, the two were able to design and build a prototype of their own star fighter (With Gosely doing almost all of the work, and Richards providing the money) and were able to win several contests with the ship, which was in a very basic form. The winnings from the contest allowed Gosely to break off from Richards to work on his own projects - and Richards saw this as a betrayal - because he could never reach quite the same potential.
Things went on through university with Gosely and his creations, until he finally graduated with top marks, one of the top students in the entire school. It brought him a ridiculous amount of job offers, one of which he gladly took.
Working with Hyperion ship designs
Whether it was a stroke of fate, or a simple bribe, Gosely ended up working at the same company as Richards. The only difference, is that Richards had bribed himself up to one of the top level workers at the relatively small company - and Gosely was simply a design technician (Which still earned him quite a bit of money). During his stay at the company, he was constantly held back by Richards, who would claim the credit for most of Gosely’s designs - and eventually betrayed not only Gosely, but the entirety of the Republic. He sold out ship designs to the Sith Military, which prompted Gosely to rat out on his former partner. Richards fled the Republic quickly enough, but not before pulling a few strings. The loss of one of his only former friends, and a bundle of his designs, infuriated Gosely to no end, and his work began to become exceedingly more weapon-oriented. He began to obsess over the fact that his work had been stolen, and to him, it was the ultimate insult that anyone could have given to him - he wanted to reach out to Richards, and show how much things were bothering him (Despite how well mannered and calm Gosely usually was.)
A single month later, and Gosely was receiving death threats, and was under 24 hour surveillance after an attempt on his life left his current star fighter in shambles. He simply could not take the pressure of being hunted down by an old colleague, and took time off from work - he vanished for several months while he figured out how he was going to deal with his problems.
The MP-TAS
During his away time, Gosely decided the best way to deal with his opponent, would be to blow the living crap out of him, and so he began his work on a new straighter, the MP-TAS (Multi Purpose Tactical Advanced Strikefighter). He needed something that was very customizable between missions, but would also be very quick and maneuverable. The solution was the MP-TAS. It was a sleek design, the entire back of the star fighter was it’s propulsion - and it boasted weapon slots that could carry anything from retractable Laser cannons, to Torpedo launchers - along with a bottom mounted launcher container that could also be switched out to carry various equipment. As a final addition, Gosely created a detachable hyper drive component that fit overtop of the armour when the ship needed to make a jump. This ship would be his ultimate creation, as well his most used tool in his later revenge.
(This portion of the history will be played out in the role-play sample. Please see below before reading on)
After his largely successful mission to eliminate his competition, Gosely had simply had to much thrill to return to his previous line of work. At the age of 25, he was still working on designs, but was largely looking for the perfect job, where he could fly the ships he loved to make. Within the year, he managed to get his ship design approved by the Republic, and sold it to them, under the condition that he would be allowed to modify the plans as he saw fit, and participate in one of the squadrons as a pilot and engineer.
RP Sample:
Gosely switched on the main ignition as he sat in the small, confined cockpit of his MP-TAS. This was the final product of over two months of design, and another three months of construction - not to mention the endless black market searching to acquire the parts needed for he heavy laser cannons. He glanced around at all the technical displays, before he finally switched the repulsorlifts on, and the craft rose steadily into the air. Hovering now, he took hold of the flight stick and rotated the craft to face the hanger entrance. He’d already gotten clearance to take off, and now he was doing his last minute flight checks, making sure everything was running properly. He snickered to himself, about how this ship would not meet civilian equipment standards - wouldn’t even come close. Luckily for him, he’d built the laser cannons and torpedo launcher inside the hull of the ship, and when needed they would open hatched and protrude accordingly - part of the feature that allowed the ship to be so versatile in it’s customization. The hull was extremely dense, and the cannons powered down, so that scanners wouldn’t pick up the military grade equipment that was laying dormant.
His comm system crackled. “Gosely, I don’t know where in the hell you think your going - but I hope you know that you are fired!” An angry voice exploded, causing the man inside the ship to wince. “Just going on a personal errand. I’ll be back…sometime.” He replied, before cutting off the comm as a voice began to angrily reply to his excuse. “Well, that’s not going to go well when I get back…” He pushed forward on the throttle, and his ship lurched forward from the hanger, and blasted out into the busy traffic lanes of Coruscant. “Now it’s time to get the hell off of this hell hole…” He muttered, as he entered a series of coordinates into the Nav computer, which would take him straight out from the planets gravity well, where he would be able to make the jump to hyperspace - and be on his way to his intended target. Staring out the viewport as he rose through the atmosphere peacefully, he began to think to himself. “Flying these things isn’t nearly as bad as people say… It’s exciting!” He turned his head to look out at some of the larger ships around him, and noted how much less maneuverable they were, when compared to his sleek strike fighter. Several more minutes, and he was leaving the last wisps of Coruscants atmosphere, and rocketing away into the dark void in front of him. He weaved the fighter through the multitudes of ships in front of him, just to make sure he was used to the controls (He had test flown the ship in simulators before, but he needed to be sure it wouldn’t cause problems during this excursion.) While he did this, the Nav computer was calculating the necessary jumps to get him to his destination, and once the calculations were complete, he jarred the flight stick to the right, and pulled it into a quick loop - causing him to face empty space. “Now… I hope this works?” He muttered, reaching forward and engaging the hyper drive. He winced as the stars turned into streaks of lights, hoping to whatever god might be watching him that the experimental hyper drive unit on his ship would live up to it’s successful simulations. He was rewarded as his fighter vanished from the system, bringing him one step closer to his revenge.
His fighter snapped into real space as the gravity well from one of Dantooine’s moons yanked the ship out from hyperspace. Gosely’s alarm systems lit up, plastering red dots all over his display. Each dot stood for a potential enemy, he’d need to be careful if he wanted to evade them all. He pulled back on the throttle and put the ship into a drift, before looking over at the current time. “Perfect, just in time.” He said, satisfied. His plan counted on being nearly undetectable until he eliminated his target, and was on his way home - and in order to achieve this, he would be drifting towards the planet, in the tow of a meteor shower that would mask his ships presence. It was an insanely risky move, but it was one he was willing to take to get back at his old partner. He smirked as he looked out at the grassy planet before him. It was ironic how he’d been able to find the backstabbing villain, all it took was to find instances of his own designs being sold in Sith space (Which was the hardest part of the whole operation,) and track the origins of the sales - which lead him here. Right to the doorstep of his rival. He nudged the flight stick, and the maneuvering thrusters nudged the ship closer towards a volley of meteorites that were spinning through space. “Wont be long now.” He stated, matter-of-factly. As the meteors approached the dark side of the planet, and Gosely’s ship entered the atmosphere of Dantooine undetected, his shields sprang up as flames leapt up around his ship and the meteorites. “That’s right Richards. Wonderful meteorite shower isn’t it? Few more minutes and it wont seem so nice.” He said, quite coldly.
He was freefalling through the sky now, and he pushed forward hard on the throttle, rocketing the ship forward with a flash of light as his engines ignited. His HUD sprang to life on the view screen, and identified objects of interest in front of him - far below him it identified a lone mansion. He closed in quite quickly on it, and it wouldn’t be long at all before he was within firing range. Just before he pulled the trigger to fire the torpedo’s, an alarm whined in his cockpit, and red lights started flashing. “Blast, Someone’s got a lock on me. He must have been expecting this for some time now!” He growled, pulling hard on the flight stick and hitting his foot against the right rudder. His nimble strike fighter looped almost effortlessly, and obviously surprised the heck out of the pilot who’d somehow managed to sneak up being him, because the opposing ship made almost no move as Gosely’s heavy laser cannons opened up and tore through the star fighter. Targeting indicators sprang across his HUD as dozens of more ships were identified, all launching from the mansion that was his target. He pondered this, knowing that Richards wouldn’t be able to afford this much manpower - and the realization dawned on him. “The pilots are droids. Pretty stupid AI’s too, if they didn’t even try to dodge my shots.” He swerved and dodged as the ships came at him, and he sprang in between ships and barrel rolled over others, all the while his shields flashing, and cannons blazing - lighting up the dark night. “There’s enough of them that this could get me killed,” - As he spoke, fire spurted out across his ship, and his shield flickered, dropping to half capacity- “And some sort of authorities are bound to pick up on this fight. I’m finishing this -now-.” Gosely put the thrust to full, and took a full loop over one ship, shot another out of the air, before flying almost straight towards the mansion, simply building speed. “Take this, you backstabbing-nerf-herding-half brained-failure-of-a-Designer!” He shouted, as he thumbed the toggle for his weapons, and pulled the trigger. The launcher fired two torpedo’s in quick succession, and shot out in front of him - illuminating the building just underneath him in a giant fireball from hell. His fighter shot through the wall of fire, and he looped it up into the sky. He winced as comm traffic increased a ridiculous amount, and it was obvious his presence was no longer wanted here. He saw no reason why he should stay and play tag with any more ships - and so he arced up into the sky. After clearing the gravity well, he finished off the hyperspace calculations, and clicked the hyper drive once again - and just as several larger ships moved to intercept him, he vanished into the night.
