Birth place: Skako
Occupation: Politician
Rank: Senator of Skako
Bio:
Jade was born on a sunny day on her home planet Skako. Her mother and father were both Skakoans. Her father was a young politician involved with the Techno Union, slowly working his way through the ranks of the cruel political world, and Jade’s mother was a student aspiring to become a politician. However, when Jade was born she left the local university she was studying at and stayed at home to care for Jade. Thus Jade was always occupied with toys and always had something to do. A great bond between Jade and her mother was immediately created and continued to grow the more time Jade’s mother spent with her. Jade also constantly interacted with various children around the neighborhood. From 12 months when she had fun drooling and exchanging stares to the age of 3 when she was running around and bumping her head into assorted furniture assorted around her home.
Jade’s father’s job was stressful, but he was able to form a wall between his home life and his work life, which left the stress out of Jade’s young life, as well as her mother’s. Jade’s father had spent some years working in the Techno Union, and was in the process of jumping up to Galactic wide government. He looked for a seat to represent Skako and the Techno Union in the Galactic Senate. As the Techno Union was a major part in Skako’s economy, many people were concerned of its well being, and because it played a big part in resources throughout the Galaxy, it was often a major subject during the Republic Senate meetings. Thus, those who had experience in the Techno Union possessed valuable information that could be used in a senate seat, and a logical senator would keep a close eye and have connections in the Techno Union. He was known for a somewhat bias opinion towards his home planet, and often favored advancements in technology rather than advancements in diplomacy. Jade’s mother greatly objected this, but kept it away from her husband. She rambled on during the day, talking to a young Jade about her views in the government. Jade’s language skills were slowly developing, and she eventually went from understanding nothing, to understanding one or two words, to understanding one or two sentences. Of course she didn’t comprehend that her mother was talking about government, but the words were engraved in her mind and would remain there forever.
When she came of age, Jade was enrolled in a local school system. She was both surprised and happy to see her neighborhood friends enrolled in the same school, and spent her first few years expanding her friendship with them. However, as the years passed, and a few bad test scores came Jade’s way, she soon realized friends could only take up half of her life and school had to be the other half. She cracked down on studying, and found ways to combine her social and educational life through studying with friends. Her home schedule remained the same over the years. She got home, had a snack, spoke to her mom about her day, did her homework, ate dinner, and went to bed. As she got older, and her bed time was pushed to a later time, she enjoyed watching the Holo News Network and hearing the Galactic News after dinner.
Meanwhile, her father made his way through one failed election. He continued to try to keep his stress away from home, but it grew more and more difficult. A few years later, the senate seat opened again, and he ran again, focusing on the same views as last time. It was a close race, but in the end he turned out the victor. He often left Jade and her mother for meetings on Coruscant. Jade’s mother was upset, but hid her feeling from Jade. Jade made it through be watching her dad on the Holo News every night, but it seemed the rest of the Galaxy wasn’t too happy about his election. She recalled similar arguments her mom made to her when she was younger.
Soon enough Jade’s father had no choice but to combine his work and home life. The dinner conversations when he was home were based around his work entirely. All that talk was of Skako needing money for research in micro electronics or funding for the Techno Union. Jade was a smart girl and kept her mouth shut, but in the end she believed there were more important problems in the Galaxy. Sure, money for Skako should be an issue confronted by the Senator, but what about the Galaxy all together? What about those that were poor and those that had to worry about what they were eating tonight? These should be the top priority of a Senator.
From that point on Jade was focused on becoming a Senator and patching up her father’s mistakes. During her teen years focused mainly on her studies, was up to date with the new thanks to Holo Network, and remained with the group of neighborhood friends she had known her entire life. She graduated with fairly good grades. Her best being in the areas of English and Political Science, perhaps because she was determined to do well in those areas. Her father had been elected to another term of service in the Senate, and continued expressing his beliefs. Most of his suggestions were over looked by the other senators, as they usually only benefitted Skako. After he served his second term, he retired. He couldn’t have been more happy that Jade was looking to follow his footsteps in the world of politics, and was still oblivious to the fact that Jade was totally against his views. Jade’s mother felt the same, she would be happy as long as her daughter was, even if she did disagree with her views. However, her maternal instinct gave her the vive Jade had some new ideas.
Jade enrolled in a local university at 18, majoring in Political Science. She also minored in History and Business. The work load was enormous, but it distracted Jade from the fact she was away from home and from childhood friends. However, her will to work and share her opinions with the world was at an all time high. She participated in many debates and tended to fall for the side the least amount of people believed was true. She wrote a thesis on how closely the Techno Union was to the actual government of Skako:
The Techno Union provides various jobs around Skako and could support the Skakoan government on its own. It provides resources for the rest of the Galaxy, especially during times of war. Because of this, it can get what it wants from people, whether it be because people care for the Union or they fear it. The government is really in the hands of the foreman, and if that foreman chooses to abuse their power, the results could be devastating.
She later took various sentences and ideas from this thesis, and turned it into her final for Political Science, a thesis on Skako’s role in the Galaxy. Her ideas were not necessarily different in the minds of the people, but different in the sense that they were never brought to the public eye. Her grades remained extremely well, partly because some of her professors admired her courage to bring up new ideas that others may have objected to, and partly because some of her professors felt the same way. Jade graduated top of her class, and had a job offer already. The foreman of the Techno Union himself was looking for a secretary. While the job required little experience, the foreman was looking for someone he could trust. Jade’s father worked in the Techno Union and did a great job making its requests heard in the Senate, thus when the foreman heard his daughter was available he called upon her for the position. While an assistant wasn’t the most appealing job, the Techno Union would provide some good experience for Jade and had many connections with the government, so she took the position.
She lived at home for the first few weeks, but then spotted an apartment closer to her job, which her father soon purchased for her. With a goodbye kiss to her mother, Jade left home, truly alone in the world. Her job was simple, and paid more than Jade had expected. Her job was to pretty much do whatever the foreman asked her to. Get some drinks, send out some messages, the usual. The foreman immediately favored Jade for her relation to her father, and soon discovered her rebellious spirit and his respect for her improved greatly. He tested her spirit at one point by explaining he was short on time and needed Jade to write something up for him, a list of subjects to be sent to the current Senator to highlight some of the needs of Techno Union, as well as what the Techno Union though the rest of Skako needed. He gave Jade the major point he wanted brought up, but Jade refused as she believed more important topics should be addressed. The foreman simply smiled and told her to write what she wished. Jade did just that, and while she ensured she mentioned the importance of the Union and its funding, she also asked that the common and working man of Skako to be remembered. The foreman never intended to actually send the list to the senator, but it brought to his attention some problems he had never noticed before. After some small revisions, he sent the list to the senator, whom read it to the best of his ability. It received much praise within the senate, and most of the Union’s requests were met. Not only did the Union receive proper funding, but so did Skako. This news was brought to the foreman, who then praised Jade. He was confident in her education, and now that she had proven herself useful he promoted her to one of his assistance. Along with an increase in pay, the promotion came with some new tasks, such as advising the foreman in his decisions, and sending notifications to the various workers of the Union, as well as updates to the public and the senators.
While Jade was trained in business, her forte was in advising the foreman with his Senate requests and updates. She provided inputs that represented the working class, and the foreman had respect for that. The Union stepped up the conditions for its workers and its respect for the public. The Senate saw its improvements, and allotted more funds to the Union. While the foreman received the credit, his trust in Jade continued to grow. He soon saw she was being held back as an assistant and advice she run for a seat in the Senate as Junior Senator. With the support of the union, along with the support of the current senator, the position was easily hers, and now Jade was able to give her input and receive credit for it now. The senator provided her with some tips and kept her from embarrassing herself which helped. After working for the Union she somewhat realized why her father supported it so, but now she had combined the best of both worlds and successfully provided input from the Union and the common man.
She served as Junior Senator until she was 30, making her home in Skako and moving to Coruscant during the Senate sessions, and pushed on topics that included funds for poor town within Skako as well as the Techno Union. At this point, the senator Jade was under retired. The foreman immediately convinced Jade to run. Again, with the Techno Union behind her, along with her experience Jade was put into office. What gave her a landslide win was the improvements made in various towns in Skako after her service as Junior Senator.
Now she ran the show, and continued to push on funds for the Techno Union, as well as some allotted towards towns in Skako. Parks emerged in the city, families bought houses, and people could relax thanks to this funding brought by Jade. She practically had two homes. She officially owned an apartment in Coruscant to live in during the senate sessions, but often stayed with her parents during the off season to catch up with friends and such. Her life was at its highest points and her parents couldn’t have been prouder, especially her father who adored the fact her daughter was able to continue to get funds for the Techno Union while scraping up some for the people. With wars emerging and lives being lost, Jade pushed for extra funding for the Techno Union, which in return would provide weapons and such for the Republic. While her life was stressful, her role was important, and she enjoyed knowing it.

“The Techno Union needs you. Skako needs you. The Galaxy needs you.” the foreman spoke to the Junior Senator. “I am not going to lie, the responsibilities are massive, but you are to only one that can balance that and ensure the wealth for all of Skako.”
“Enough!” responded Jade, her mind made up. “I will run as long as you quit all this sucking up stuff.” she said with a grin. The two laughed as Jade left the foreman’s office. She headed out the door of the Techno Union headquarters and down the street towards her apartment. She arrived moments later, gathered up some leftover food, and sat down to enjoy a nice meal.
“This just in, local politician Jade Rembora has placed her name in for the upcoming Senate election. Rembora’s well known for her position as Junior Senator as well as her service for the Techno Union.” Jade watched the Holo News Network every night, and was happy to hear her name mentioned every so often. Her stomach was tingling as she ate her dinner. She wasn’t one to feel nervous, but rather excited. The next few weeks would be stressful, but it would all pay off in the end. She clicked off the news, and headed to bed, ready for whatever awaited her.
She was up bright and early the next morning. Walking out the door of her apartment building she found a hurricane of reporters. Flashed came from everywhere. There was no relief at her office. Reporters shouting her name. Jade tried to ignore their questions and continue her work, however one caught her ear. “Ms. Rembora, if elected what do you plan to do?” Such a simple question, yet such a complicate one.
Jade cleared her throat and began to speak, “My goal is simple, achieve the status of safety. Safety for every Skakoan citizen. Giving everyone the satisfaction of a warm place to sleep, and to be able to rest on a full stomach. Safety for every worker. Giving them the relief that they have a job to attend to, and if they lose that job there is another waiting for them just around the corner. Safety for the Galaxy. Providing it with the resources of the Techno Union, and giving them the right to know that their home is a safe place.” she took a deep breath and looked down at her desk before letting out a massive smile. She knew she would win the election, how could she not? The question was, would she follow through with the promises she had made?
