Name: Ty Lee Jing (Ty for short)
Race: Human
Age: 33
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 150lbs.
Appearance:
Birth place: Taris/Ecumenopolis
Occupation: Minister of Defense of the Republic
Rank: Minister
Bio: Born on the active planet Taris, Ty Lee Jing was daughter of Mai Jing and Tak Jing. Among Ty’s family, there was also a brother, Lo Jing. Truly, Ty was born to an accomplished family. Tak was a well-respected Senator in the Ministry of State. Known for his stubborn attitude, he rose through the ranks and at the time of Ty’s birth, he was in a heated battle to become the successor of the current Minister of State, Jaque Bleir.
But Ty’s father wasn’t the only successful member of the Jing family. Ty’s brother, Lo, was an aspiring Senator, currently studying in Naboo.
However, the “upset” of the family (at least, according to Ty’s father) was Ty’s mother, Mai Jing. Mai was studying at a high-class university alongside her husband when she found out she was going to have a child. In need of money, she allowed her husband to stay in school, while she dropped out and found a job in the increasing trade business. Sadly, she never found time to go back to school, and remained in the trade business ever since.
So Ty was tended to by her mother until the age of five. During this time, her mother would play with her, feed her, and give her naps. A bond developed between Ty and her mother. And Ty tried to be with her as much as possible. In the end, Ty pretty much had the average childhood. Toys, games, the occasional scold, it all set her out to be successful in life.
Still, five years later the heated battle for Minister of State was in full course. Ty’s meals at the table were full of ranting and screaming. She would always recall how her father called everyone “Scum of the Galaxy!”
Ty’s life became more eventful at the age of 6, as she was now old enough to accompany her mother to her job in the trade, as they could not afford to live without the extra income. From dealing with paying the tuition of Lo’s university and all the bills, it simply was too much of an expense. Mai worked at a small port on the edge of the city. There was a rising for its inconvenient location: it was a secret port used by the government. No workers were permitted at any time to look into any items they handled, as it was considered treason. Ty Lee followed her mom as she scurried through the port, delivering packages to the right ship and so forth. Ty found no interest in the business.
And so, for the next year Ty was on the same routine every day, following her mom around the port. Three weeks before her seventh birthday her brother came for a visit from Naboo. The entire family was happy to see young Lo, but Ty’s father seemed interested in something else. It was after Ty was sent to bed when she heard whispering in another room. She snuck out to see it was her father and brother, deep in conversation.
Ty couldn’t make out any words, and so wasn’t exactly sure what was going on, but by the tone of her dad’s voice she knew there was good reason to be afraid. Sleepless nights followed, as a confused Ty grew more and more worried.
A week later her brother was set to leave. He had packed up and all was well. Little Ty had grown too excited about her birthday to remember the conversation from a week ago. As Lo walked to the door, a loud knock was heard, and a strange man barged in.
He seemed around the age of 20. Yet, at his young age, he looked so professional. As if he was the Minister of State.
The man was apparently Ty’s father’s assistant. He was coming to inform that the current Minister of State had died, and there was going to be a bitter competition for the position.
This was no surprise, but Tak expression still didn’t change. The young man made his exit and Tak looked straight at Lo. Everything became confusing, and before you knew it, Ty’s father had commanded Ty leave with her brother.
Ty tried asking Lo questions, but it was hard for Lo to explain what was going on to a 6 year old. Smiles and taps on the back were the only answers Ty received. However, the one thing that didn’t leave Ty’s mind was her mother. She was heartbroken, and didn’t know who to blame. She looked to the person by her side, realizing her brother was taking her away. In her mind, her brother was the one who was ruining her life.
The pair arrived at Naboo, where Ty spent the next two weeks in Lo’s small apartment. When she turned seven, she was sent to a boarding school, away from her brother. She spent many years there. Learning everything from math to science, and she took keen interest in school. Although nothing to eventful happened at this time, Ty remained non-social, completely focusing on her studies, the only important thing her life. Her mindset was: I can always make friends later, but the time for studying is now. Although she wasn’t able to make any friends, she was able to avoid making enemies.
In various events, Ty had the opportunity, but it seems as her studies were too important to her. One evening a girl asked her to join her at a party, but Ty refused. The girl just wouldn’t stop, and eventually Ty was screaming at her, and probably could have killed her if she got her hands on her.
Ty studied the average curriculum. In math, everything from algebra to geometry. Literature obviously involved various novels and writing. History gave a briefing on the Galaxy, but mainly focused on the history of Naboo.
At 16, Ty graduated from the boarding school and headed to Naboo’s University. She hadn’t seen any sign of her brother since she was seven, and had little idea if he was still alive. But she wasn’t bothered by that. She completely blamed her leaving her family on her brother, and so couldn’t care less of what happened to him.
Ty was a great student, but after taking a briefing class on politics, she fell in love with it, and she filled her schedule with every class involving the subject. She reached out to public events and went to many speeches and rallies formed by various Senators. She didn’t care what these were about. Whether a campaign speech, an attempt to change a law, whatever, the point was to gain experience. She was even able to see the Queen at a speech about the current standing point of the Republic.
Because of her determination, Ty was a great student, and was favored by teachers. Here grades proved that.
Ty graduated top of her class, and was immediately offered a position as a junior-advisor under the Queen. The job wasn’t full-time, but Ty was allowed to follow one of the Queen’s advisor’s around for a year. She didn’t like the idea of just following someone around all day, but knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and so she accepted the position.
The one thing she didn’t know about the offer, is that it involved a lunch with the Queen. Ty grew excited, as she sort of looked to the Queen as an idol. The lunch eventually came around, and Ty was looking to talk politics, but the Queen was not open to this subject, and tried to change the direction of conversation. At this, Ty called out the Queen, saying it was an abomination the way she governed her people, and that she was a “softy”.
The Queen did not take kindly to this and said she represented the good of all people, but Ty had already excused herself and left the palace in a storm. Knowing that if she remained on Naboo, her reputation would be destroyed, Ty sought a place to go.
It seemed as though her anti-social attitude came back to bite her, because Ty found nowhere to go. She thought back to her early years, and the only place she could think to go was back to the Taris. And so, Ty was on the next ship off of Naboo.
When her ship landed, Ty recognized the old city, but noticed how rundown it had become. But she spent little time down memory lane, knowing she had to find her family if she were to last on the planet. She could not recall the position of her house, but knew her father was a Senator. So she made her way to the senate office. She eventually found the building, and began asking for a Mr. Jing. She was directed to a more modern room compared to the rest of the city. She was greeted quickly by a man who called himself Tak Jing. The sound of the name ran through Ty’s ears. It was the name of her father. She hugged the man, who surprisingly returned the gesture. Words didn’t need to be said, both knew who the other person was.
The two caught up and Ty shared her stories of life at the university, while Tak explained how he almost had his hands on the position of Minister of State. After the long conversations, Ty asked about her mother and brother and their whereabouts.
A frown crawled to Tak’s face at the subject. He explained the greatness of the position of Minister of State. They dealt with foreign affairs, and it was often their actions that led to war. It was such an honor, that Tak’s opponents were threatening to kill for it. Ty was sent to Naboo for protection. After Ty had left, the election fell to the bottom of the Republics list, with the uprisings of the Mandalorians, and various uprisings within the Glaxy, everything became disorganized. But, the records were brought back up, and Ty’s father explained that he was number one contender, and that the official rankings would be announced soon.
And this was true. Ty remained with her father until the end of the month when it was revealed that Ty’s father had been chosen as the Minister of State. Celebration arose through the city, and Ty’s father got right to business.
Within the next few years Ty and her father moved to the Republic headquarters in Coruscant. Ty was approaching the age of 26, and studied as her father’s assistant. Her new found interest became military affairs. She found great need for a new Minister of Defense, as the current Minister was allowing such chaos to arouse in the galaxy. Ty could only think of all the deaths caused, and all the pain other families had to endure. Outraged, neither Ty nor her father was able to do anything, but Ty sought to change this.
With her family name rising in ranks across the system, Ty ran for an open position in the Ministry of Defense, and actually won. She moved away from her father, where she would find a home and create a new life. It was well-known fact that not only could the Ministry of Defense was in charge of the armed forces in the Republic.
Ty sought to state her opinion in the Ministry, and created a stubborn name for herself, much like her father had before her. She embraced her new-found attitude, and found much support in the Ministry. With her new allies, her party found a majority in the Ministry, but was still ruled by the Minister.
Secretively, Ty hired a bounty hunter to eliminate the Minister. She promised credits that she didn’t have, and the bounty hunter agreed to the task. Days later reports were in that the Minister was dead, and Ty rejoiced. But it was short lived, as the bounty hunter came to her house wanting credits. When Ty refused the hunter drew out a red lightsaber and held it at Ty’s throat. Ty recognized the weapon of the Jedi, and attempted to reason with the hunter. Ty realized the man was a Jedi.
But the man objected, and stated that he was thrown away from the Order.
“You know, you and I share a common trait. We hate a bigger authority. Allow me to cut you a deal. Allow me to live, and I am sure to get the position of Minister of Defense. If this happens, I will do all in my power to destroy the Order and the Republic.” Ty said quickly.
A grin was shown on the man’s face, and he slightly nodded and left. Ty would never forget this encounter, and she sought to stay true to her word.
Ty’s prediction became true. Having a majority of allies in the Ministry worked to her advantage and she was the number one choice to inherit the position. However, if she wanted to remain a free woman the election would have to go fast, as an investigation on the death of the past Minister was ongoing, and Ty was a main suspect.
Luckily for Ty, the election did go fast, and she was immediately placed in position at the age of 29. Her first order of business was to end the investigation of the murder of the past minister. She ended public suspicion that this was an act to save herself by releasing a comment: “It seems as though I wish to focus on other things, and don’t see how I can do this while observing this investigation.” Although the public believed her, there were still members of the Ministry that had suspicions, but they kept quiet to avoid a similar fate.
However, Ty did not do many “other things”, as she had a bigger plan. She wanted to leave the eye of the public, and then she would attempt to destroy the republic without anyone knowing. Proud of her plan, she relaxed in high-power.
But relaxation was short lived, as after a year in office, news came that her father had died from assassination. Ty mourned, but was very busy, and so could not attend the funeral.
Ty saw that her new position put her overall goal in even closer reach. She spent another year in relaxation. At 33, she the position on Minister of Defense and although she may not have been the most powerful, she had a large say in what happened around the Republic, and always kept her true goal in sight. It seems that all the deaths didn’t matter. The only thing that did was power.
While in power, Ty Lee attempted to recieve any information from the Jedi Council. However the Jedi remained silent with whatever secrets they held. Ty Lee visited the Council on two seperate occasions, and after realizing that her arguements were going nowhere, she set out to meet someone on Nar Shadda, someone that might give her the information she was looking for.

Ty rushed through the darkened streets. She was late. It wasn’t her fault. She needed to wait until the right time to leave; otherwise someone would have seen her. She ran to the mysterious house at the end of the. She turned in a circle, just making sure no one was watching her. She knocked on the door.
“Password” blatted a deep voice.
“Minster at moonlight” replied Ty. Her nervousness had nearly doubled since she left her house. She wasn’t sure who would greet her, but she knew her words had to be careful.
The door opened to reveal a short thing. Honestly, you could not call it a person. Ty wanted to run at the sight of it, but knew her fate depended on the events that would occur ahead.
The little figure guided Ty through hallway after hallway, room after room until it came to a halt. It gestured toward a chair which Ty sat down in. She gazed around the mysterious room. Red walls lit up by a faint torch in the corner. It only added to the mysteriousness of the mission.
“Well, hello minister!” a cackle came from the entrance. Ty jumped and let out a little scream. Quickly regaining her senses she replied, “And whom am I greeted by?”
A laugh was let out by the man that said, “Why you are aggressive for a mere Minister. All you need to know is that I am the person you wish to speak to.”
It occurred to Ty that kindness would not get her what she wanted, so she cut to chase. “Listen, you hate the republic and I hate the republic. If we join forces we can end it forever!” Ty was surprised at her tone.
“Hmm, it seems I am dealing with a genuine rebel. But, why do you want to rebel. It’s obvious why I hate the republic, but why do you?”
“It seems as though through the years the republic has taken my entire family. I wish to return the favor.” Ty said.
“No way! This may be true, but there is something you’re not telling me. If you are looking for an ally, lying is not a good trait to use.”
“Very well, if I must tell you…I came to power because of the death of a colleague. I organized the ‘extermination’, and so if the Republic were to further an investigation, I would end up dead. The only solution, end the Republic.” said Ty, hoping the man would by the partly true story.
“It seems we are done here!” said the man getting up to leave.
“Wait! I hired a bounty hunter to kill the old Minister. I hadn’t realized it at the time, but he was a Dark Jedi. To save my life, I promised I would end the Jedi Order and the Republic.” Ty shouted in desperation.
“Very well. Consider us on your side Ms. Jing” and with that the man left.
