Previous Faction: Jedi Order
Previous Rank: Jedi Knight (Sentinel)
Bio:
Jacen was born to a pair of slave parents who served a Hutt on Nar Shadaa. The two were forbidden to see each other due to previous complications. When the mother gave birth, they managed to keep it secret from the hut for almost 6 years until their master finally found out, he ordered the father to be killed, immediately and the mother shared the same fate.
Amidst all this, Jacen managed to escape. For quite awhile he live on the streets getting nothing but maybe a slice of bread every day or so. He had nothing and could do nothing to help himself. Most of the crown on Nar Shadaa was an unfriendly one and even the few off worlders, mostly cargo pilots from world far away in the inner rim, weren't very helpful. He begged some of them to help him, to give him money, food, water...anything; but all were to greedy. He even asked one to help get off the world altogether, still the answer was no.
One day, while walking around the city, looking for food, he found another small boy, about his age who, like him was poor. The two, over the course of a few days became friends. Unlike him however, this other boy, Anton, had a family. They offered to shelter the boy, helping him get food, and water.
Later that year, a mysterious man in a robe came. Jacen had never heard of the Jedi but just the magnitude of confidence and power this middle aged man emanated was breathtaking. He stayed for a few days, just minding his own business until he approached young Jacen. He told him of his sensitivity of the force, what the force was and what the Jedi were as he had never heard of any of these things. He asked Jacen to bring him to his family, so Jacen brought him to the only family he had. Seeing their extreme misfortune asked if he could bring this boy, Jacen to Coruscant to learn the ways of the Jedi. The family accepted and upon his departure, gave the family 2500 credits.
His prescence affected Jacen greatly, before even learning about who these Jedi were, he was impressed at how humble, generous and helpful he was. For the next day he wondered, and wondered if they all were like this, if they all could use this 'force' thing if if he'd be able to aswell.
6-13~Youngling Years
When he arrived on Coruscant he did, despite how much he hated it, miss his home on Nar Shadaa. However Coruscant was somewhat comforting because it resembled his home to a degree. He thought the Jedi were simply amazing as he was fully accepted into the order, he learned all about what the force was and was taught how to use it and everything. He practiced with the training lightsabers really enjoyed just being at the academy.
What surprised him is that minor things that had happened to him all his life that seamed trivial were special manifestations of the force that were quite rare indeed, especially for one of his age and his lack of training. The events included subtle precognition such as in 'three car monte' games like the ones he played with friends and an incredibly sharp mind. He could absorb information like a sponge about things he had never heard of before and then apply what he learned to everyday tasks.
The Jedi were quite excited with someone who showed much potential. The Youngling classes were, at first, exciting for him but as he progressed faster and faster and excelled above the others, he became bored. At the age of 13, a Jedi Master finally Chose him as their padawan.
13 to 22~Padawan Years
Jacen couldn't have been more excited about his master. To finally be accepted by one after 6 years of hard work in laying a foundation for future learning. His master Xi'Jaan Drecaan, was a wise, aging master of the force who also was on the Jedi High Council. The years passed and at around the age of 18 He was sent, just as all other jedi were, to the planet of Ilum to find a lightsaber crystal. He was a bit disappointed upon learning that the crystals found on Ilum only provided an either green or blue blade. He'd either heard about or seen lightsabers of many other colors; like the one of his youngling instructors who had a vibrant orange blade.
Nonetheless, he was still excited to finally get his own lightsaber. He had the model built already, a chrome, sleek and stylish hilt with bronze accents. One thing that made him a bit uneasy was the fact that he'd go alone. Since coming to Coruscant he'd hardly done anything alone.
The next day he left, flying his small one-man fighter to the cold, icy world so far away. When he arrived he was overtaken by the unbearable cold. On top of this, it was extremely windy so much so that it made it difficult to walk in a straight line. That day he wore extra robes over his normal ones to keep him warm but he had no idea it would be this cold.
He spent hours wandering the frozen wasteland searching for an entrance to one of the crystal caves. His mouth quickly became dry, his lips parched and cracked and had to struggle to keep his eyes open. A strong blizzard kicked up and he was forced to take shelter in a cave. Hours later he awoke to find that, at least for the moment, the blizzard had ceased. He, once again, began to wander out in search of the crystals. Finally he found it, the cave had a large mouth but quickly became tight and narrow, at some points he was forced to crawl on his hands and knees. After wandering through this cave, of which he felt a strong presence of the force. It was blinding almost. Finally the narrow corridor dropped down into a large chamber, probably 400 feet tall and just as wide. it was completely dark within it, just like the corridor had been. But now that presence he had felt earlier was at it's strongest and he knew he was at the heart of a crystal cave. From his pack, he drew a flare and as he struck it on the floor, igniting it, the entire cave lit up tremendously. Hundreds upon thousands of crystal formations covered the floor, walls and roof of the cave. Huge pillar formations created beautiful over hangings. He looked around in awe, searching for the right crystal.
After awhile searching he found a triangular shaped one that was nearly symmetrical and without flaws. He sat down on the cold, icy floor and fashioned the crystal into the center of the hilt by levitating it with the force. He was very excited and was so ready to finally own one for himself that many times he almost made a mistake which could have very easily caused a nasty explosion upon activating it. Because of this, he had to often completely start over and it thus took him longer than he'd originally expected.
Finally it was completed he stood from an almost trance-like state of pure concentration and grasped the hilt from mid-air. He took a deep breath, praying that he'd not made a mistake and pressed down on the activator button. He sighed in relief as he felt a wave of reassurance overcome him as the Viridian blade shot out of the emitter and basked him in a green glow.
When he returned to his ship his astromech droid beeped profusely and began to play a message from his master stating that he needed come to Nar Shadaa immediately after the construction of his lightsaber was finished. Jacen hurriedly took off to the Moon world from which he was from and when he landed at the designated dock, was greeted by his master who congratulated him on his new lightsaber. He told him that the council sensed a dark presence on the moon when a group of three Jedi sent there to investigate the disappearance of a senators daughter, had too themselves disappeared. The master and padawan were tasked with further investigating.
The two spent the next day or so traveling around the sector, asking questions to local residents and hadn't come up with much until a shady looking rodian approached them and told them what he knew. They learned from this rodian that a local gang had kidnapped her. He also told them where this gang's base was and gave them fake ID's that allowed them to get into the base without being recognized as Jedi. So, as Jon and Jeb Eryus, they snuck into the base and hacked a nearby computer panel that allowed them to shut down all electricity in the doors inside the base, sealing everyone inside. They were quickly identified as traitors and attacked. but simple thugs were no match for Jedi andwere held off quite easily.
The two battled their way into the lower level of the base where to their surprise were encountered by the gang's leader who was also a Dark Jedi! He smiled and swiftly attacked the two Jedi. The three fought fiercely in a battle that seemed to last forever until the Dark Jedi slammed Jacen into the wall with the force and whipped out another lightsaber and used it to behead Jacen's master. Jacen Screamed in Anger and leaped through the air, kicking the unsuspecting Dark Jedi in the jaw with great vengeance. He fell to the floor, dropping his lightsaber and was then then attacked again and again by the angry padawan. Jacen delivered a final punch into the face of the now nearly unconscious dark Jedi, smashing the bones in his nose and cheek and then using his lightsaber to stab him right through the throat. The Dark Jedi was dead.
22 to 32 ~ Knighthood and Beyond...
Jacen returned both the Senator's daughter and His master back to Coruscant where he received much praise from the mourning Jedi Council for completing so much in just a few days. He was assigned a new master and for the next 4 years trained under him. He had reflected on the day his master died for many nights. Blaming himself for his death and hating himself for seemingly drawing on the dark side to viciously kill that Dark Jedi. Finally, at the age of 22 he was Knighted as a Jedi Sentinel. It took a bit of a load of his back knowing that all he'd done had not gone to waste. He too took a padawan not long after becoming a knight but he was killed while on a mission in the outer rim by an assassin they were sent to kill. This once again caused him to spiral into depression. He became angry for no reason and nearly killed himself. But throught mysterious ways, the dark side of the force called to him. Begged him not to go, but instead to succumb to the dark side. He gave in and decided to leave the order.
But before he did so, he wanted into the archives. Badly. He new there was information in there that only the highest ranked, the masters, of the order could view. They feared that some of the knowledge locked within the archives was simply to dangerous for padawans and Knights to view considering they were the most susceptible to falling to the dark side. Jacen viewed it in a 'too late' kind of way for himself. The guardian of the archives was an elderly man probably in his late 90's! The man's vision had failed 20 years prior and suffered from Alzheimer's disease so his memory too was lost. Jacen thought it would be all to easy to access the archives with a man like that guarding them. Why the council allowed him to still hold his positions befuddled him. Perhaps they still had faith in him after all the time he'd been in the order. Perhaps they were simply to arrogant to believe that anyone would even attempt to access the archives if they didn't have permission.
He had a plan, a good one at that; he was going to convince the man that the council requested that he find his master who was in the archives looking up a certain type of disease. The man, no doubt, would either go look for the master him self, or let Jacen in. If he went to look for him, Jacen could simply sneak past him. And the plan worked. Now that Jacen was in he went straight to the back where there wasn't anyone around. He looked up to see that the section he stood in was on 'The Force' a very general topic but he grabbed as many items as he could and tossed them into his large stchel or his them within the layers of his billowy silver robes. He didn't manage to get a very good look at them as he hurried but he did notice the titles from a few of them. Basic knowledge on force powers, philosophies, lightsaber techniques, the works. Finally, after grabbing as many things as he could without being identified as a thief, he moved to the end of the aisle and stuck his datapad into the computer terminal and downloaded as much information as he could. Astrogation charts, galactic history, info on differant species, planets and cultures throughout the galaxy etc.
As soon as he had all the information he needed he headed out. As he left he was stopped by the old guard of the archives who had, by this time, forgotten all about there earlier encounter. He was was confused as to why a padawan was in the archives and he came up with another excuse, he stated that his master requested information but was too busy to get it himself, and of course, the senile old man believed him.
With his new information, he knew the jedi would detect a break in soon so he immediately left, taking his small, custom shuttle and heading to his home, Nar Shadaa. His astromech droid, TR-93, accompanied him on the journey and Jacen, before he landed on Nar Shadaa, removed the Jedi Tracking device installed in the droid's hard drive so that they couldn't find him, no matter where he ran off to.
To him, the dark side was more of a burden that a privilege or a gift. Ever since he first tapped into it, it asked for more and more, and it was....impossible to resist. And the attachment grew on him; and as it did his conscious seemed to have two different, opposing sides. Part of him new the dark side was wrong and wanted to omit it from his life. But the other half felt Dependant on it, like it needed more to satisfy his cravings. In the end he felt like he was shackled by heavy iron chains to the ground...and the more he struggled, the tighter they would get.
Upon landing he sought out a place to live after he'd threatened the dock owner to leave the planet and forgot all about the dock. The dock was now his and there was no one scheduled to land there so he could keep the ship there for as long as he wanted. He eventually found a place to live, an apartment in the top floors of a large skyscraper. The sector, like most of the moon was lawless so there would be no one to question his presence there. 3 years past and he continued to live a simple life. He, for the most part, stayed in his apartment, studying the countless amount of knowledge he had amassed at the point both from the Archives and from many differant sources across Nar Shadaa. He had become obsessed with increasing his knowledge, it became almost as parasitic as his hunger for the dark side; and the dark side's hunger for him. The opportunity presented itself to travel to Ziost, a planet of importance to the Sith, or so he had learned in the holocrons. He wanted to go to see if there were any others like himself and to find knowledge of the ancient Sith that had been absent in the galaxy for so long now. He didn't know much of the planet, It was Icy and capital of an ancient sith Species was about it. But he knew the coordinates...
He ventured to the Dark Planet and stayed for about a year searching tediously for some sign that there were othe Sith or Dark Jedi in the galaxy. He found almost no knowledge, just some scrolls left by someone long, long ago. He had his astromech droid analyze them and found that they were nearly 700 years old. They contained some basic force techniques but nothing more, they were of no used to him and were destroyed.
When he returned he had a sudden urge to find his old family and the Hutt who killed his parents. He traveled to the sector he had lived in, in the north wester hemisphere of the giant city-planet. Searching all over, he found out that they'd been killed for getting in the way of a crime lord's business. He could not be anywhere close to sure, but he had a gut feeling, an instinctual feeling that it was the same one who'd owned him and his parents. Zegga the Hutt.
He was angrier than ever, after trying to reject it and ease away from it for so long, he caved and gave into the lust of the dark side. And He loved it, it was invigorating and....replenishing almost. Nothing stood in his way, he would fins Zegga and kill him and whoever was on his side. He did, he kicked down doors and killed guards to get into his 'hideout'. He had cleared out the entire base, disfiguring people through use of his lightsaber etc..., he wanted nothing less for what these animals did to the last thing in the galaxy that he cared for. When he finally found the over stuffed worm, he first threatened his life and forced him into giving him all the fortune he'd amassed, which he late found to be over a hundred-thousand of credits After getting what he wanted he slit the slug's throat and left.
With his new fortune he decided to invest in a brand new ship, a large freighter. One that was much nicer than his old one which he left on that dock on Nar Shadaa, after buying the new ship, he only had around 20,000 credits left, enough to live a good life for a while. He spent the next 3 years living a life of luxury until again he felt he had to do something. He had heard rumors but passed them off as hoaxes just like all of the previous ones. But the He felt the dark side begging and pleading him to listen he couldnt' fight it anymore, He had to go to Korriban...

It was a day seemingly no different than the other...they all blurred together anyway. But Something, something big was happening and he could feel it. It started out with unrecognizable wispy noises that he thought he didn't hear but it grew, and it grew, and it grew until finally it was impossible to ignore. He'd let the dark side in and it would never go away, it fed off of him and he kept getting sucked in more and more, like quicksand. It called to him; it told him that, that a new Sith Order was coming together, it told him to go to Korriban and find the others.
Korriban was a world he had only ever heard of through faint rumors about the sith and the knowledge within the holocrons he stole. It was, from what he understood, a desolate world, devoid of life and saturated with the darkside. He knew of the ancient sith and the exiled dark jedi that came to the world long, long ago.
He knew he had to go now, he could no longer ignore the begging, no longer pass them off as hallucinations or him suffering from insanity. He immediately grabbed his things, which wasn't much: food, his robes, his lightsaber, the Holocrons and a few other miscellaneous items, and went strait to his ship, a medium sized freighter, a vey mediocre one at best. Really it was nothing special but it got the job done. His astromech droid, the same one he had when he was a padawan, informed him that the ships engine was in need of repair and they might not make it all the way to Korriban if it wasn't repaired
Can you fix it? he asked the droid desperately and with a series of seemingly rand beeps he assured him that it could. The repair seemed to last forever. and just as Jacen was about to simply risk it, the droid reported that the engine was repaired and that they could leave. And they did...
