Tobin is of fairly adverage height and weight for his age. He had deep brown, piercing eyes. His skin tone could be described as brown to dark brown. He has no scars on his body as of yet, and he always wears the robes of the jedi order.
Birth place: Naboo
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Youngling
Bio: Tobin Vel was born nearly thirteen years ago on the mid rim planet of Naboo. His parent where part of the planets middle class. His mother held a fairly decent job as an admistrator, helping to oversee the expanding planetary infrastructure. His father was a member of the planets defense force, which several millennia later would come to be known as the Royal Naboo Security Forces. His father was native born to Naboo, being the descendent of some of the original colonist, while his mother had move their from Corusant seeking a more exciting life.
About a year after his birth Tobin’s parents took him with them on a trip to visit his mothers’ family on Corusant. When they arrived they visited his mothers’ home. They had planned to stay for about a week. Tobin was introduced to his grand parents as well as a few of his cousins, all of whom where older than him.
Around the time they where supposed to leave, Tobins parents decided to go see a play in the city, leaving Tobin with family members. They never came back. They were found by authorities several days later, dead. Apparently they had taken a wrong turn on their way home from their show and where subsequently robbed after passing into what locals would have called the “bad part” of town.
Tobin was left in the care of his grandparents, who lived in the city’s upper districts. They well quite well since his grandfather had been a successful merchant in his youth.
He spent the next three years there. Tobins grandparents where also quite the thrill seekers, they would often go on treasure hunts and accompany expeditionary teams that they hired to search the unknown regions. Tobin was often left in the care of matrons and nannies. Because of this Tobin never knew much of his grandparents.
Even then, as a toddler, he showed minute force abilities. By the time he was good at walking, his nannies often would find him missing and the front door mysteriously unlocked. He would often find his way out of the apartment into the bustling city streets. He would never get very far though. Either the nanny would find him soon after or a kind Samaritan would turn him in to local authorities, who subsequently returned him to his family.
Around the time he was four Tobin wandered off and was found by a Jedi knight. When he returned Tobin to his familys appartment the jedi approached the nanny about having Tobin becoming a trainee, thinking that the nanny was the boys mother. When he found out the truth he decicded to return when Tobins grandparents returned from their current trip.
Tobin was ecstatic to go when he was told. He remembered the stories that had been read to him about the brave and swash-buckling Jedi and their many adventures. He wasn't very sad to leave the family behind. He never really care much for his grandparents since he never really saw them, and his nannies were only obstacles to his many adventures in his mind. They next day they received the news that his grandparents had died during one of their expeditions. When he was told he was upset that basically part of his family was dead. A few days after that custody of Tobin was passed to one of his uncles. His uncle gave the jedi permission to take Tobin away to be trained at the temple.
When the Jedi had returned the next day to take him to the Jedi temple he practically ran out the door and into the speeder parked in front. All trace of sadness from the death of his grandparents and having to leave what was left of his family was gone from his face. As they rode he paid no real attention to what the Jedi was saying. He was too absorbed in his imagination; seeing his future exploits and reveling in possible adventure and glory. He basically figured that being a Jedi was all on big adventure.
After a few days at the temple he began to realize, if only in the way that a four year old could, what the Jedi order was truly about. The Jedi existed as protectors of the galaxy and those who fulfilled the will of the force. Tobin of course barely understood this but as he grew older he came to know what it meant.
When he first arrived he didn’t make a lot of friends at the temple. This was mostly because he was picky himself. For awhile he had a bit of a superiority complex. An old remnant from what time he had spent with his grandparents. However when he was taught by an elderly master that all creatures where the same regardless of their ability or their appearance he lost that part of himself.
During his third year at the temple Tobin encountered two fellow younglings that would become his best friends. The first one he met was a Rodinian male named Git who was a year older than him. Git was a bit of a prankster. He was constantly being scolded by the masters for sneaking into the cafeteria and placing hot peppers in the bantha stu and things like that. The second one was a Twilek female named Gila Tao. She was about the same age as Tobin and more bookish then both of them. Her face was almost always buried in a data pad.
If Tobin and Git where the yang then she was the yin. She was the one who kept the two of them from killing themselves doing something stupid.
One time that shows that more than anything else is when Tobin and Git managed to find their way onto the outside of one of the temples taller towers. They had gotten up there by taking the pass card from a guard who was sleeping on the job. The rest was simple just walk up. They had originally told Gila and wanted here to join them, but she declined. When they managed to get outside the window they had opened slammed shut. Luckily they where rescued an hour or so later after Gila told on of the masters about their plan.
That was when Tobin was eleven. They where both chosen to Padawan soon after that, which left the youngling with out many friends.
Then next year flew by, partially because of their repetitiveness. Up at sunrise, breakfast, lessons from the masters, meditation, lunch, more lessons, and dinner. Before he knew it he was twelve years old and had only one year to be chosen as a Padawan.
During his training Tobin excelled in force techniques and exercises that the use of sensing. By the time he was ten, Tobin was often able to perceive, through utilizing his advanced ability in sensing the force, a probe, armed with blasters that would easily stun a target on impact, and was therein able to avoid and deflect shots from two remotes, with some effort, at once. He also was naturally adept at the use of telekinetic force abilities. Being able to levitate objects while meditating by the time he was twelve. He showed mediocre ability in other areas such as healing and body enhancement abilities.
Another part of basic training that he showed some promise in was Lightsaber combat. He quickly learned the forms of Shii-Cho and is relatively well versed with the style considering he is still a youngling.

Tobin exited the temples archives. He looked around him then sighed, thrusting his hands into the pockets of his robes. Today was his birthday. The thought of it made the usually care free youngling feel empty inside and made him worry for his future. For most races in the galaxy a birthday was an important event. And the same was true for Tobin. But it was this birthday that held a special and saddening meaning. This was his twelve year alive. This meant that in the Jedi Order he only had one year to be chosen as a Padawan, lest he be put into something like the AgriCorps or the MediCorps.
He kicked the ground a few times and sighed again. It wasn't like he wasn't a good student, maybe it was his brashness and his laid back attitude.
He decided that not much could be done here so he headed for his quarters. When he got there he entered and let himself fall onto his cot. He turned his body around to look at the ceiling. And he just laid there. He did this for about a long amount of time. Eventually he figured that he was not going to get anywhere just laying here, so he decided to actively search for a master. He was about to leave his room when his alarm that told him when his classes where, rung. He looked at it. The time was close to noon. That meant that he had lightsaber combat training. A smile crept over his face. Today was sparring day. His search for a master would have to wait.
He stuck his hand out behind him and waited for a second. His practice lightsaber floated to him gently. He grasped it and hooked it on his belt. He pressed the code for his door to slide open and headed out. This time he had a bit of pep in his step. If there was one thing that could cheer Tobin up, it was sparring day.
