Name: Kaezo Lok
Race: Sullustan
Age: 26
Height: 5'6
Weight: 152
Appearance: Kaezo is about average looking for a Sullustan, though maybe a bit on the short side. His skin is gray and brown at different points on his body. He usually wears his Jedi robes while within the temple. His robes are a light gray color, very ordinary for a knight of his rank. When on the streets he tends to wear street clothes, not wanting to stand out among the people of Coruscant. He almost always wears black fingerless gloves to help him keep a better grip on his sabers, something he finds invaluable to his whirling ataru techniques. He almost always wears some sort of hat or visor to help protect his eyesight, especially while on brighter worlds, though his vision hasn’t started to degrade yet. He wears small electronic processors in his ears to protect his sensitive hearing from loud explosions or sonic detonations.
Birth place: Sullust
Faction: Jedi
Rank: Knight, Sentinel
Bio:
Born on the planet of Sullust to Daebu and Mabun Lok, Kaezo was placed in the SoroSuub daycare program at an early age while his parents worked their day jobs with the company. It was while enrolled in this daycare program that Sato Caluumo, a Mon Calamari Jedi knight visiting the world to investigate the working conditions and facilities following claims that the company had been negligent in their safety precautions, and that one of their subsidiaries had been experimenting on children. Even though the SoroSuub Corporation claimed to have not known of the actions of their subsidiary, the Jedi thought it necessary to investigate to make sure. As he toured the facility and was brought through the daycare facility Sato recognized the force sensitivity in the young sullustan. His parents consented to allow him to be taken for training, and he was taken with the Jedi knight back to Coruscant.
His youngling years were mostly normal as far as Jedi go, learning together with the other children, and getting himself into a little bit of trouble along the way. He showed an aptitude for acrobatic techniques associated with the Ataru form even in the earliest stages of light saber training, and spent a lot of his free time working on that form.
At age seven he witnessed an attempted assassination while his class was receiving a lesson about the four masters. At the steps of the temple a team of amateur bounty hunters tried to take out a Twi'lek Knight named Seb Selenko. Selenko was a very skilled guardian and specialized in Ataru techniques. The fight was quick and extremely one-sided, with all four hunters taken out seemingly effortlessly by the skilled Jedi. That experience further fueled Kaezos interest in the Ataru form.
After many years of training Kaezo was selected as a padawan by Cathar Jedi Consular Mansar Rolthari at age 11. Master Rolthari was a renowned diplomat, so most of the missions he was sent on were diplomatic in nature. Kaezo took an interest in his master’s work, but the lack of action in their lifestyle led him to spend a lot of time practicing his skills with the light saber, an activity he took to with unrivaled enthusiasm. He trained primarily in the Ataru form, admiring the acrobatics and grace of the form and recalling the speed and skill of Selenko on the temple steps.
On longer trips he would familiarize himself with whatever ship they happened to be traveling, his race's natural skill on the topic of starship mechanics allowing him to gain some degree of skill in repairing and maintaining ships. Later on in his career his master allowed him to pilot their vessels, allowing him to practice his skills and become a more then competent pilot.
Master Rolthari held a deep affection for the Republic itself, often saying "The Republic is the only hope for Democracy, and without democracy there is little meaning in sentience." His appreciation for the republic was something the rubbed off strongly on his pupil.
4 years into his time with Master Rolthari the pair was sent to negotiate a cease of hostilities between rival "businessmen" on Tatooine. Golgo the Hutt and his nemesis, Sin-Wher, had been fighting over shipping rights and warehouse space after an argument between the two had led them to split up the company they shared. The fight had escalated to the point where armed men were often fighting in the streets.
Rolthari was well known even amongst criminals for his negotiation skills, so the council decided to send him to stop the violence, hoping his reputation alone might prompt one of both sides to compromise. There would be no such luck.
Golgo had grown paranoid from the constant feud, and when his contacts told him that Rolthari was being sent to mediate his dispute, he assumed that the Jedi were being sent to kill him. In his confused paranoia he arranged for men to attack the pair as they arrived at the spaceport.
Two mercenaries waited for the pair outside of their ship while several others lurked in nearby shops to observe and help should the attack go awry. Kaezo descended the ramp of the shuttle before his master and noticed a Nautolan reaching for a blaster on his waist. He drew and ignited his yellow saber just in time to deflect the blaster shot aimed at his master and slice the pistol in half. The other would-be assassin, a Devronian was sent hurling through the air by a powerful force push by master Rolthari before he could fire a shot.
As Mercenaries attacked from several other sides Kaezo valiantly defended his master, deflecting another shot and then launching forward at the attackers. His acrobatic form took the mercenaries off-guard and most of them began firing at the padawan instead of their intended target. Kaezo proved too elusive, and soon he was among them, leaping and spinning his way from man to man and searing hands and arms as he went.
Master Rolthari restrained the wounded mercenaries as Kaezo attacked, allowing only one to escape, albeit with a severed hand. When the encounter was over it had lasted only a few minutes but Kaezo had dealt with seven mercenaries without major help from his master. When he asked Master Rolthari why they had allowed the eighth man to escape, he told him it was so he could inform his employer of the failed attack, and has the upper hand in negotiations when they still went to meet with the businessmen.
As Rolthari had predicted, their reputation had preceded them when they arrived at Golgo's "office" (in reality, it was basically a cantina with a private hologram display for Golgo to conduct his business), it was amidst whispers and gossip of "Rolthari's bodyguard" having dispatched Golgos men. They were of course surprised when they saw how young he was and realized that he was in fact, a padawan, and that he had still managed to defeat the team of armed men.
Golgo was surprised that the Jedi had come to mediate the dispute despite having been attacked, and was extremely wary of the Cathar, but consented to meet with Sin-Wher to discuss their disputes. With compromise on both sides (and a little help from the force), Master Rolthari successfully ended the hostilities between the two in a matter of hours, but thanks to Golgo's appetite for gossip, Kaezo's reputation as a fighter would spread among the underworld. From then on any discussion amongst the criminal elite of the hated Master Rolthari would include a mention of his lightning fast sullustan padawan.
Kaezo, being a padawan, would never hear this gossip, but on more then on occasion he did overhear whispers of his name upon entering rooms and cantinas, but when he asked his master about it Mansar just laughed and told him he was imagining things.
Of course Kaezo, being a padawan, was never around to hear the gossip about him, but was surprised on more then one occasion to hear his name whispered as he entered a room. Whenever he asked his master about these occasions Mansar would just laugh.
Over the next few years Master Rolthari would be called on many times to help negotiate disputes and he used his padawans reputation to his full advantage. Whenever the possibility of violence arose he would remind them of the incident on tatooine, and when violence was unavoidable their reputation usually led their foes to fight with a fear of the pair, which Mansar would turn into a blind panic with help from the force. On Taris they managed to get twenty-three secessionist rebels holding a senator hostage to surrender based only on their fear of the two Jedi.
At age 19 Kaezo was taken by his master to a wealthy district on Coruscant to investigate claims of smuggling by one of the merchants there. It turned out to be a trap set by a trio of Mandalorian bounty hunters who attacked the Jedi in a trading post. The Hunters launched their attack from the rooftops and utilized their jetpacks to circle above them. Master Rolthari, being skilled in Djem So, stood his ground and deflected blaster fire while his apprentice leapt onto the rooftops to pursue their attackers.
A deflected blaster bolt set one Mandalorian crashing into one of the rooftops and as he stood up Kaezo was on him. The Mandalorian fought with a vibroblade but his disorientation from his crash allowed Kaezo to quickly overwhelm him and throw him over the edge of the small building, knocking him unconscious.
Another hunter landed on the rooftop to confront Kaezo while the third, the leader of the group, continued his attack on Master Rolthari. The Mandalorian fought with two vibroblades, a style that Kaezo was unaccustomed to fighting against, at least against opponents of this skill level. Only through extensive use of his force powers was Kaezo able to gain the upper hand on his opponent, flipping through the air and sending objects hurling at him from all directions; finally Kaezo was able to land behind his foe and take off one of his legs with a low sweeping attack. Looking back into the square Kaezo saw Master Rolthari struggling against his opponent, and he leapt from the building to aid him.
In the ensuing fight master Rolthari was wounded and Kaezo was forced to fight the massive Mandalorian one on one. The man was huge, even by the standards of his people, but he had several wounds from his fighting with Rolthari and his exhaustion was evident. Kaezo fought desperately despite his own exhaustion from his previous opponents, and finally managed to break through the mandalorian's guard and sliced off his head. The marked the first time Kaezo had to take a life.
After that experience Kaezo grew to appreciate and admire the use of dual blades in combat and began to study the sub-form of Jar-kai, though only in practice, with practice sabers against droids.
Three years after that incident, Kaezo was given the rank of knight, and though he was reluctant to leave his master's side, he went on his first mission alone to investigate claims of pirate attacks near Hutt space.
After successfully apprehending a crew of pirates preying on freighters in the area and destroying their two fighter escorts in a fierce dogfight, Kaezo returned to Coruscant to learn that his master had been assassinated in his absence. The killers had been apprehended, but claimed to have been hired through a third party. Those caught were known to be small-time criminals, and a plot like these seemed beyond their capabilities, but it was never discovered who had hired them, or if they had had help, as they mysteriously died while awaiting trial, and though some suspected participation from someone skilled with the dark side of the force, nothing was ever proven.
Rolthari had left specific instructions to give his saber to his pupil upon his death, knowing of his interest in the subject of two-saber combat. Kaezo accepted the gift with a heavy heart, and spent the next few years dealing with feelings of guilt for not being there to protect his master. Only through extensive meditation was Kaezo able to forgive himself for not being there for his master, and he developed a fierce attitude of protectiveness in this time. In his missions following Mansar's death Kaezo was observed to go far out of his way to protect the people of the republic, sometimes even letting it get in the way of accomplishing his mission.
Most of his assignments have been on Coruscant and the systems immediately around it, and in his day to day business Kaezo has gained a good reputation among commoners and is generally well-liked, though current public attitudes have put a certain strain on some of his relationships, he is still able to coordinate a lot of his investigation efforts with locals, a skill that has become invaluable over the years.
Now, in the days of Galactic War, Kaezo struggles with the idea of going to war against the wishes of the council. Though he has yet to declare his intention of serving with the Blades, he has openly expressed his desire to protect the Republic. He fears the repercussions of going into battle unprepared, but his emotions are becoming more difficult to suppress.

It was a cold day on Coruscant. Kaezo was out on one if his routine information gathering missions, going from cantina to cantina and gossiping with locals. He found that rumors often held more truth then the "facts" reported on the holonet, and he had used leads gathered this way to his advantage before. As he entered Bomars Cantina he overheard two twileks arguing over the Jedi order and their role in the galaxy, but they became hushed whispers when the saw him enter. Kaezo just flashed them a huge grin and headed to the counter to talk to Bomar, the proprietor.
"Kaezo! How are things at the temple, my friend?"
"Hectic." He responded with a slight sigh, "The blades are going out to war and it is a confusing time for us. How are things around here?"
The Devronian gave a little sigh of his own. "Pretty much the same I would say. My customers used to spend all day laughing and drinking, and now they spend all day arguing and barely sipping their drinks! Hey....do you think you could... maybe 'convince' them to drink a bit more?"
Kaezo laughed. "Sorry, it isn’t really supposed to work that way."
The devronian chuckled a bit, but became abruptly quiet as he noticed a hooded figure entering the cantina behind the Jedi. Kaezo noticed the sudden change in demeanor and nonchalantly put his hand on his hip, near the hilt of one of his sabers. He heard the heavy footsteps of armored boots heavily clank across the room toward him as Bomar took a heavy gulp. Kaezo turned around and saw the Gamorrean with his axe already in his hands, preparing to strike.
Quick as lightning, Kaezo dropped to the ground and let the heavy battleaxe crash into the durasteel counter, becoming buried in the metal a foot deep and mere few inches from Kaezo's head. Kaezo ignited his saber and performed a spinning attack, slashing the mercenary across the guy and sprinting toward the door, knowing there were likely more attackers laying in wait. His instincts were right and blaster fire came at him from the table he had noticed when first entering the room, with one twilek crouched in fear as the other drew his weapon and attacked. Kaezo deflected the first shot and ducked the second, then performed a roll across the floor and a flip over the table, severing the Twilek's hand as he landed. The alien collapsed in pain and passed out from shock a few seconds later.
Kaezo kicked the table over and crouched down, using it for cover from two more attackers in the room. He noticed the whimpering Twilek covering his head and mumbling. "Sorry about this" Kaezo said, trying to sound comforting, "I’m sure this is a big hassle for everyone." The Twi'lek didn’t seem to feel very reassured from his words, but when Kaezo laughed a little, the Twi'lek gave him a nervous smile.
Kaezo jumped out from behind his cover and ignited his other saber, deflecting two shots as he sent one of his attackers hurling through a window with a powerful force push. The other attacker, a Rodian, went into a panic as Kaezo approached him, easily deflecting his now poorly aimed shots. As the Jedi approached striking range with his sabers the rodian threw his weapon on the ground and surrendered. Kaezo looked around the room and saw a hooded figure run out the back door to the building, though he wasn’t sure if it was an attacker or just a fleeing patron. He decided it wasn’t worth chasing him to find out and leaving the defeated mercenaries as a potential danger to the others in the cantina.
A few minutes later the constables had arrived to arrest his attackers and take control of the scene while Kaezo talked Bomar. "Sorry about this mess. I'll definitely make sure to get the repairs paid for"
"Nah, you did what you had to do. I’m sorry it happened at my place."
"Well, I don’t think I had to throw that one guy out the window, but I was caught up in the moment. I should have just threw him into a wall or something."
Bomar just shrugged and looked around the room. "So things must be getting pretty bad for people to be coming after you even here on Coruscant"
Kaezo looked around the room at the damage from the fight. "I think it is only going to get worse from here."
Bomar poured two drinks on the counter and slid one to Kaezo, gesturing for him to drink it.
"To the Republic?" Kaezo asked, raising the glass to a toast.
"No" Responded the Devronian, "To the Jedi!"
The friends clanked their glasses together and drank. It would be Kaezos last drink for a while.
